Me and my gf play this all the time. It's alot of fun. We got the complete expansion pack that includes all the current expansion decks (doesn't have the horses expansion..) but haven't tried any of them out yet. I recommend the game.
Nice review Ryan! Impressive how you explain the whole (complex) game in just a few minutes. Personally, I love this game. It's very different every round, there's a lot of interesting and funny expansions, and it's much fun!
What I'd love to see is a review of Agricola's expansion: "Farmers of the moor". There is only one review of it on youtube and it's in Korean (perhaps Tom can help translating). Great job with the reviews Ryan. Keep up the good work!
I am not a big fan of it, but Dominion is quite popular, similar in gameplay to TS, and less monster-based. There are some other deck-building games to look at. I recommend the excellent boardgamegeek website. ANYONE interested in getting into board games (beyond Rick and Monopoly) should visit BGG.
I think this a great example of a game that was designed mechanics first, setting second. The farm setting isn't well represented by these mechanics, even though its mechanically well designed.
The Dice Tower's website and video channel also have a lot of great reviews and (primarily) top 10 lists for almost every board game category that you can think of, and are insightful, thought-out, and entertaining!
Horrible games such as "Sorry!" run around $30. The difference here is that games like Agricola are actually fun, have replay value, and won't end up left in a closet and forgotten.
We had a great time playing the family version last night. Then we decided to Play the complex version of the game. We took out the enormous pile of cards from the box, but realized that we would only use very few; 7 occupations and 7 minor improvements each. We felt that the cards didn't really contribute to the game experience; it's really only a Random-factor, and it's impossible to develop a card-strategy, since there is so man cards. Why are the cards good, and why did they make so many?

This was what got me back into boardgames - a stunning piece of design, wonderful. Thanks for the great review :)

Good review.
Excellent worker placement game. Just behind Puerto Rico for me, but many prefer it to PR.
2nd-most-watched Dice Tower video by a non-primary reviewer (as of November 28, 2016).

I love this game for its awesomeness.
@EvilPoet85
No, Ryan pronounced it correctly. It's Latin for "Farmer".
I was wanting this game before... now, having seen this review, it is a must have! Settlers will have to wait another month now. :)

Beginner: Mamma Mia
Moderate: Bohnanza or San Juan
Complex: Citadels or Thunderstone

Really? I feel the opposite
Interesting you fell that. It's not the most thematic game ever but I'd say Agricola is in the 90th percentile for connection of theme to gameplay.
True. It works as a game, but not a farm simulation.

I personally prefer this style of review than going through the rules ^
It's funny that your 999th game is published in the Netherlands by 999 games
I love this game. Rule book is awful, but video tutorials help..
Agricola is all fun and games until you play with that guy who takes 5xthe time to make his move compared to all the other players.
Horrible games such as "Sorry!" run around $30. The difference here is that games like Agricola are actually fun, have replay value, and won't end up left in a closet and forgotten.
999 videos! Do you have something special in store for the 1000th?
@vacantmentality Thank you! :)
Oh, i just noticed you have Khet! Nice!
@himdagrt I could not agree more.
He reversed wood and clay (a common mistake).
10 minutes of this video is a how-to-play. 80 seconds of it is a review. I feel like this was false advertising.
If you mean a worker placement game, I suggest Stone Age.
If you mean board games in general, I recommend Ticket to Ride.
This is one of those games where the mechanics of the game work for game play but don't make any logical or realistic sense.
It's just not a "Dice Tower Review" without the "let's see what's in the box" with the jazz horns. Sorry.
it seems to me that it would be easier to buy a plot of land and sow some seeds in real life than to traverse this messy web of complexity.
Casual.
looks like great game
My favorite game!

Sold after one play.
Tried the game today, geez this is slow, boring and long...
Woooooahhh that game is expensive!
its a werry bad game. so unbalansed and unforgiven!
