Some creators milk their top 100 for 10 videos, some do it in 20, SU&SD milks it for the full 100! That's just content, baby! Well done, lads!
Well they did say they might milk it for more than 100...as by the time they get to another game, it might be replaced 😂
so milky!!!
Mmm. Milk.
It may take a whole year lol
Tbf, this gives them time to go over each board game in-depth. And when it comes to board games, you really need to spend more time explaining things because it is a board game.
Board games are about the rules and such, which need to be explained.
About Agricola being a funny game. This game includes a job called "Net Fisherman". The German word for this job is Netzer. And the image on the card is a straight up portrait of a german football player. Called Günter Netzer. It also includes Franz Beckenbauer as someone who builds sinks and Klaus Teuber as a dock worker who converts ressources 2:1. If That isn't the peak of what we Germans consider Humor, I don't know what is
very specific, dry, and i dont understand it - checks out!
Thanks for this, I noticed the occupations have poses of fictional characters (obi wan, Snape) but didn't get the less obvious or translated stuff
I'm still quite happy about the house goat (yes, older edition). I went out of my way to buy an extra large goat meeple to put in my house. I have no idea if that was ever a thing, but I want a goat in my house.
Switching the background walls (painted in different colors) to distinguish the playthrough flash-back from the post-game commentary... what a simple, brilliant pre-production idea!
the whole color design is just so perfect and the way it contemplates the game!!!
Yellow table cloth for a mostly green game about farming is JUST PERFECT !!
SU&SD just hitting it out of the water time and tme again.
I thought the changing of seat was jarring at first but eventually I appreciated how it's another clue to differentiate play and commentary.
@@doubleanteActually if you look closely, you'll realise that the entire frame has been digitally flipped. They were sitting in the same spots the whole time!
Another pre production trick: their jackets / sweat shirt color are assorted with their player component color.
@@tahunuva4254I almost believe that but you can see Tom is in the middle during play and off to the side during commentary.
This is exactly the kind of SUSD content I've been longing for: all-star cast discussing classic games. Not that I don't really enjoy the reviews you've been putting out, but it's always enjoyable hearing your thoughts on games that have stood the test of time. Looking forward to the next 99 videos!
Great to see the 3 of you in a single video!
don't worry, it's just an editing trick
Nah, it's just TomGPT. You can tell by the hand.
A series where we see Tom’s body increasingly propped up by occupational therapy devices needed to combat the physical endeavor of editing 100 of these things, accelerated by malnutrition due to sheep thieving, poor lad.
In the final episode, he's just dead.
I like to think he got his hand caught in the cookie jar
@@IslanKleinknecht Puppeted from behind the screen by an intricate system of ropes, levers and pulleys.
I thought maybe he was just exploring his emo side...
@@twoflower9239 Perhaps there was also a chain wallet attached to his belt loop. Oh, if only he had stood up!
I absolutely love this format. It’s like a podcast and a well laid out video at the same time !
*Slowly and dramatically reveals empty board*
"Yeah, lets see the f*ckn Dice Tower do this"
Had me DYING
came here to say this, glad I wasn't the only one 🤣
Especially because it was muttered kinda passive agressively under his breath 🙂
Shortly followed by an earnest "what are we doing?"
That was the Quinnest moment ever Quinned
What timestamp was this?
I enjoyed how organic this video felt. Good information but also good vibes.
Before the wooden animals, early editions of Agricola just had different colored cubes. A guy in my board game group 15 years ago had a t-shirt that I loved that was just the different colored Agricola cubes in a row and under them it said "use your imagination".
I had that version, and the corn and veg were just orange and yellow discs.
So much so that in other games we’ll refer to white cubes as “sheep” even if its entirely irrelevant to the other games theme e.g. Lords of Waterdeep.
Yep. I have the version with discs and little cubes. You can buy them separately at specialized websites.
No way I'm actually in love with this format video style!!
Same, I love the interaction and banter that you don't normally get in a solo video.
This is the freshest format video you have put out in years. Great job in this new era. Love the slice of life organic approach here.
Lads seriously, besides the card close-ups, you knocked this one out the farm perimeter! Lovely and all as people are, nobody needs to watch other people playing a whole board game all the way through. Love the different coloured background, the winner sitting in the middle, and most of all the 'Match of the Day' highlights of the gameplay where you can't help but forget that the camera is there and genuine moments of craic and joy and laughter are captured. 11/10. I am here for all 99 future episodes! Well done you kants 🙌🏼
Amazing work as always guys! For the leaderboard you should try to make a "Top Gear" style one with magnetic labels, it would be super fun to see you arguing about where to place the game😅
This was my thought as well.
I had the best exact same thought!!
This is required.
I’m glad others suggested this because I came here to suggest the same 😂
Perfect idea!
Really loved everything about this: the concept, the format, and the insight into your opinions on the game. Seeing a lot of raw thinking without (seemingly) too much editing, was both light and funny, as well as useful and informative. Just reminds me why I love the work you do!
Very kind of you to say, thank you!
Sincerely hope these type of videos become commonplace on the channel. You all have great chemistry that is just evident when sitting down at a game together.
I ever wondered what kind of videos I would do, if I would start a boardgame channel. And this it. You guys nailed it. I love the freedom in it, not explaining the rules in too much detail, not showing a whole playthings but talking about a game and why it is so appealing and than show the exactmoment is just brillant.
I was waiting for a new video for a long time and you guys just hit the bull‘s eye. Well done.
Agricola is one of my groups favorites. One of my friends bought the new big box version so we basically have everything. Besides feeding, one of the hardest parts is having the diversity on your farm for scoring. Missing a resource or have a blank tile, that's negative points. Plus if you have too much of something it doesn't help scoring. There's a scoring ceiling on each resource, so you can't just become the wheat guy and end up with 30 wheat. You have to do a little of everything which makes this game even tighter than it already is.
And as far as best upgrade/humor I've ever seen on this game, someone glued tiny googly eyes onto all the animals, greatest thing I've ever seen.
I *adore* the flashback format to you all playing the game to highlight your points with actual footage. It is serene.
This series is great in concept and execution. Happy that you have found a new way to look at classic games. As someone who is slightly checked out on boardgames since becoming a parent it can be hard to keep up with the landfill churn of Kickstarter big boxes, so this is perfect!
absolutely adore this format, do hope to see a lot of this!
10:58 Matt becomes dolphin
I think this is a great format, really liked the discussion between the three of you on whether the game deserves to be in the top 100.
Also I loved that moment where Matt brought up drafting and the other two both simultaneously reached for a rulebook to skim while listening to him. That's a classic board gaming maneuver, done that myself countless times.
I really love this idea. Small introduction to the game and clips of the game being played is brilliant. Cannot wait for the next 99.
I really love the semi podcast wibe of this video! All the banter is great, and the short clips from the game really tied it together!
Seeing this three just sit here for 30 minutes and talking is such a wild feeling. Yeah, we had some playthrough and, well, parts from events when they do that, but still... There is something unique when you get to see them in this more casual atmosphere, no weird costumes, Matt is not in his worm costume, Tom without facepaint...
Love this
And no, I still love and adore "cinematic" reviews and often even rewatch something, but this format is looking good. Can't wait for other 99th parts!)
I never knew how much I need a Match of the Day format for board games in my life.
Very excited for more of these to come! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to supporting and improving the board game community!
Great format, please don't give up on this series, I love it already
Oh man, excited for this series. And Agricola is absolutely in my top 100: the first heavy game I ever bought, it will always have a fond spot in my heart.
Agricola is my favourite game about subsistence farming in the 17th century!
truly a hard time to be a farmer... or whatever that log line was.
High accolades indeed with such a plethora of 17th century farming games to choose from (Misery farm).
Great to see you tonight!
Agricola changed my life, still one of my favorite games to this day. I think its magic because it's walking the line between a lighthearted and serious theme all on top of a highly strategic farming sim. The slow rollout of action spaces makes for a great game arc. Im still not crazy about the cartoon illustrations, bit the animeeples were a great addition to the aesthetic.
I really really needed the start of this series today. Thank you so much.
A 30 min video, what a treat! Love these guys!
Tom drinking OG Coca-Cola is a low key being-in-your-20s vs being-in-your-30s power play
All of Uwe Rosenberg's games are truly special. Agricola is one of our favorites.
Truly excited to see this list come to fruition. The way that you all approach gaming and the thoughtful consideration that you approach these games with will be unrivaled.
I love this kind of series, looking across the 'all time', not just 'the hotness'. I love this casual format as well!
I love the style of this video; it makes me excited about a game I never thought I would care about. I'm so excited for this series.
I think the top 100 series is a good opportunity to bring back the meme that susd will soon review "settlers of catan"
I really love this video, and the small detail that their meeples match their shirts made me very very happy!
What a slick well-oiled machine this top 100 series is :-D Good discussion on Agricola though, it was the first Euro I was introduced to many moons ago and it is one of the major landmarks in boardgaming history I think. The separate Family Edition is also good to play with the kids if your own family growth action has been successful - much kinder than making them gather lumber.
What a great series that--and I say this will all the love in my heart--they almost certainly will not finish.
This format is lovely; there's something really enjoyable about this end of the honest-to-god RUclips video to basically-a-TV-show spectrum, it feels a lot more human.
Regardless, I refuse to believe there are 99 games better than Agricola, but then I am a huge sucker for farming themed games or generally anything where you build something up over time.
On that note, highly recommend Fields of Arle for anyone that hasn't tried it yet and either has played Agricola and just wants more (and more depth) or only reliably has two players. It's far less punishing than Agricola in many ways - which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you're after - but it layers on that sense of progrsssion a few times over. It's so satisfying and, for me, it's one of the best heavier two player games out there.
This is an excellent idea. Just having the three of you interacting is always a highlight and an in-depth conversation on each game in a casual fashion is endearing.
This is a wonderful format and the production value looks fantastic. Multiple angles, mics sound great, and the switch between discussion and actual gameplay works well, especially in a video format. Id much rather watch something like this compared to a podcast.
Fun fact, and one many people find almost unbelivable: Agricola was my gateway game. It's true! All my life I had played your typical family board games: Monopoly, Clue, Sorry! etc. Then one random night a friend of mine invited me to come play a board game. I like board games, I thought, so I went. We played Agricola, and I was ABSOLUTELY blown away that board games could BE like this. I'd never seen anything like it before in my life, and I was immediately hooked. It was so complex, but so beautiful, and so thinky, and just all around incredible. It remains, to this day, one of my top 5 favorite board games, and I still play it fairly regularly (like a couple times a year, lol). Love love love Agricola!
Wow, just the delight in a face to face convo makes this series incredibly exciting for me!
I just want to say that I love listening to your lovely voices talk about anything.
Absolutely one of my favorite video formats you guys've done. Love it! :)
This series is the most excited I’ve been to watch this channel! Great video!
We need the next video of this series asapp! Love it!
I love the idea that this might be the only one of these you guys make
I love to hearing the conversation. This is so nice.
Wow, great format. Couldn't be better. Excited to follow this series.
Really like this video. Would love to see it come out monthly.
Oh my, I love this game. My first "big" game other than Talisman. It was a pleasure to play it, played it A LOT with my friends a few years ago. But it's been sitting on the shelf for some time. But I'll never sell it!
Wow, just in time. I was just thinking, man i hope theres a review by SUSD about Agricola
Love the format. Would i watch 100 of these? Yes. Yes i would.
Loved it! I absolutely believe in you lot to see this through to 100 games! I look forward to watching the final episode in my nursing home where I am still playing Agricola with my elderly fellows.
More specific feedback: I really enjoyed seeing the UK crew together in frame. I like the idea of "top 100 in detail" and look forward to more. I like the contrast between this video and other, more standard SUSD reviews (its a nice pairing that adds more texture to the channel). Perhaps consider some standardization in scoring if you feel that it suits the vibes (as in 0-5 points in the fun category, 0-5 in the fun, 0-5 in mean, etc.).
You fellas rock!
Love this format! ❤😃👍🏻
I can tell this feature is going to be fantastic. The boys are finally all together again!
I loooove that you made this video!! Agricola is brilliant. Agricola, my favorite board game that can feel like a genuine struggle. Wonderfully thematic, tactical, and cutting. The cards make it so much more, since you need to pay for them after fighting for some of the most contested worker placement spots. Once you play them, you may not even use them! Every turn matters. Working to both sustain and grow your farm with only 2 workers feels like a daring climb - if you fall behind you have to go begging for food and lose loads of points. You're usually dancing around the other players' strategies and guessing what they will do next (another point of brilliance from the hidden information in cards). Agricola is definitely a character!
I really like this format. I hope we get more! sweet spot between edited review content and fun playthrough if you ask me.
I very much enjoyed this 'casual discussion about a game's strengths' video style~
We're not counting up or down, right? Agricola happens to be first, but is just one _of_ the hundred.
Clearly they're starting at No. 1 and working down... 😊
They go over it in the video, but it's... Unclear lol
If we are talking about solo campaigns, Agricola is easily #1. Especially for those who love breaking games to their limits in solo play
Or last and counting up 😂
@@kirbyone I've just stopped playing kirby to read this comment 😂
Loved the episode and great to see the three of you together on screen, can't wait for more!
agricola owns, and you should definitely do 100 separate videos. great video!
the 2 player agricola is a really tight/good game, and I recommend both of them
I appreciate how much effort went into planning not just this episode, but this entire series.
I love this, can't wait for the 99 other episodes of about 30 minutes, meaning you will make about 50 hours of content for this. Should you want to be done within a year that's two episodes pear week (yeah keeping that typo there). Absolutely great :D
This will be a very interesting list--each choice is well thought out before it's discussed, it will take a span of time (two years, as mentioned) before it's complete, and there's no editing along the way. Very interesting.
@@paulmccaffrey2985 i love the approach of adding games between previous ones.
I love this format! It's rare to see actual gameplay in a review video. Playing the game before talking about it so you can have throwbacks to things you did that game is genius. Matt disagreeing with a weekly upload schedule means he wants to do it daily, right? I mean, weekly it would take 2 years to finish this list...
It would be entirely on brand if SUSD NEVER make another one of these videos and leave Agricola the only game in their Top 100
To be honest,
The discussion about the placing of the game was probably my favorite part of the video :D
My main issue with Agricola is just how many things you have to do in between turns, how many spaces need resources added to them. Something I liked about Tzolk'in was that the between turn stuff consisted of exactly two steps, turn the wheel and add one food. Much less faff.
Agricola is one of my absolute favorites! This is one of those games that improves with each replay. The depth of the strategies and synergies with the occupations and improvements is fathomless! Such a gem of a game!
This was the most fun I had watching a board game video in quite some time. Thanks for putting a smile on my face today :)
Love this format! I'm looking forward to the next episode!
Really like the premise and energy in this video. Looking forward to the rest in the series.
I adored this format. It's good to see an easy way to see y'all's different opinions on a game.
This was easily your best video in years. Watching you guys have fun is fun.
It feels like a filmed podcast episode and I'm here for it!
I’m so excited for all of this. We don’t get enough of these three in the same room
Really loved this, would not miss a single episode
one of my favorite games of all time. i love the tension in this one. and you wanna play again and again, because every play just feels like it could have gone just a little better. "let me try that again" :)
Top 100 means you're making another Cosmic Encounter video and I am so beyond excited for that
great format! the tightly edited videos are a lot of fun but so is this. a suggestion for the board would be to get a sheet or roll of magnetic labels and put the names on those so you can switch everything around as you progress through the series.
I love the new format! I love Agricola too!
I got Agricola back in 2008. My wife and I learned and played it at our first ever boardgame convention and bought immediately it afterwards.
love this content guys, and great to see all 3 of you at once
This is such a fun idea of this series :D will be very interesting to follow along :) thank you
love the more informal podcast-style of these. looking forward to 99 more which I'm sure will happen!!
I caught you guys at PAX Unplugged this year and loved your panel. So you can imagine my excitement that I'm about to get another Ultimate Indisputable Inalienable List from you boys!
Great video! Love the new format, I hope the time saved on writing a script offsets the additional editing time to at least some degree!
This series is going to slap. There’s a nice philosophical discussion at the heart of this video, and I say that as a professional philosopher. Keep up the dialectic, boys!
OMG this series concept is amazing. And such a good "review" of gric. it's just the vibes, and why they vibe. which is the most important thing in any game. I took 13 years after starting the hobby to get my copy and it's definetily in my top 5. I love feast for odin but it's just so... friendly? Always places to go, always alternate strats, always time, always works, always food! The mean, desperate struggle of gric, and the pride you have in your 4th place crap farm is transcendental.
Very fun concept for a series! Would be cool to see the playthrough if you're filming it anyways, even just as an unedited stream.
First a new Cool Ghosts and then the inaugural SUSD top 100. Thanks lads.
This casual discussion was fabulously entertaining.
The best board game video I've watched in such a long time. Can't wait for this top 100 to evolve
looking forward to the other 99 episodes!
These guys are awesome! I’m very much looking forward to the journey through all 100 games.
