Agricola Vs. Caverna: Board Game Comparison

- In this video I compare and contrast Agricola and Caverna. Both of these games are designed by Uwe Rosenberg and share lots of similarities in theme, components, look and mechanisms. These games however diverge in design philosophy as one game is much more generous and "sandbox-like" than the other and most people usually prefer one to the exclusion of the other. I enjoy both of these games a lot and plan to keep them in my collection but by the end of the video you will know which one of the two I prefer.

I wish there was an in between, I like the openness and theme of Caverna, but also like the interactivity and replayability of Agricola.
Thank you for this detailed comparison and your impressions :)
You are absolutely welcome! Thank you for watching!
OMG I'm wearing headphones and I love it how you sound as if you are in my room
great video and comparison. I would agree Agricola takes the win here, although I love the fantasy theme Caverna has. For me - its comes down to Agricola offers a more realistic experience and for this type of game it just is more fun I think for more people.
Totally agree with you. Agricola is definitely the superior game.
Have you played Atiwa? If so, what are your thoughts?
Hey, would you say that going from agricola acbs to caverna is a huge complexity gap ? I really want to buy the game to upgrade my worker placement expérience, but the complexity scares me a bit
Honestly, I don't find it to be a huge gap, just a gap. There is a bit more going on and time added as well but the sandbox nature of the game allows you to focus on particular strategies at a time while learning the game and then in future plays you can focus more on some of the other strategies. I find Agricola (if you play with the cards)to be a bigger leap as far as complexity from All Creatures. Without the cards though Agricola is probably the lighter of the two. Thanks for watching!
@@whenharrymetboardgames7 Thank you ! I think I will give it a try !
I was really looking forward to caverna, I even got the broken token insert to make it easy to game, but I was fairly disappointed with the gameplay. I constantly felt limited & it was very hard to get an “engine” going cuz I was always lacking food. Set up was still long even with the insert too. I def need to play it again to probably judge it.
I recently got Agricola too but I’ve yet to play it. Will have to see which I prefer after that
Hey Jeovany, you probably wouldn't like Agricola either for similar reasons. Thanks for watching!
@@whenharrymetboardgames7 haha we will see! I may have just had a rough first game of caverna too
Sounds like agricola
What is going on with the audio here? It's all over the place? Good video content, but please look at your audio setup.
Hey there, I was using a microphone for about a 5 week period during this time. Got a lot of complaints about it so stopped using it. Sorry about the bad audio but I thank you for the feedback and for still finding something positive to say about the video despite the circumstances
