We find the Hardware Store and the Tree Guard to be leaning toward the broken label. Very powerful if not. The ability to gain loads of different resources in one visit is so useful - especially in a two player with the extra variant board in play.
The funny thing about all of the cards that let you grow your family without taking the action is that if more that one player has one of those cards, they suddenly become fair, since the FG action isn't high priority any more. That is why i think Taster is the most overpowered card in the game. Not only you are getting all you want, but you are denying everyone else what they wanted at the same time.
I thought very hard about including that card in the honorable mentions. I don't think that it is 7 points in every game. There are a ton of games where you have an almost complete farm, but it is very broken in combination with cards that give you beggars to use their effect, or cards that give you many negative points. It's obviously a card that should be banned, but a) I've never actually played with that card, so I don't know how often it's 7 points whereas I've had the experience of playing with every other card on the list, and b) without other cards that work with it it's not quite broken, whereas I think the other cards on this list are always broken regardless of the other cards you have. I'm open to being wrong about that though!

Revised edition Lover is actually fun - its food cost is almost impossible to pay in stage 1(enter Foreign aid) - thus, it is often used for 2nd/3rd growth.
