The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships had been invited to celebrate King Charles coronation by the management of St. Katherines Dock, London, my friend invited me to crew his boat White Marlin built by Thorneycroft on the MTB design for a private customer. They delivered White Marlin pre WWII to the Royal Navy where she was in action at the evacuation of Dunkirk. I arrived at the marina and used the facilities of a café and then enjoyed a coffee outside, a gentleman holding a large wooden display case walked by with a model of White Marlin. I quickly caught up with him and we walked onto the moorings and the skipper, my mate of many years came forward and shook our hands. I stepped back and allowed the model maker (sorry can't remember his name) show his handy work. The model had been built using the original Thorneycroft drawings and looked fantastic apart from the models skipper having a lot more hair. The building of the model White Marlin had been featured in a model makers magazine so many of you may well have knowledge of it. The model also turned a lot of heads when it raced around the marina on it's maiden voyage, in front of 40 or so Little Ships.
Such a wide range of vessels - excellent!
This looks wonderful!
Good Camera work , Nice Models 👍👍
Thanks - we’re going back to Mayhem on 27th May. Watch this space
and at 13 min 23 sec, you see a fisherman, ( well, the model of one ) taking a leak over the side! 😁😁 a very true-to-life model of a boat and crew! 😂
I honestly thought that was a real child on that jet ski from a distance😂😂😂
