Been an RC guy for 40 years but I play in the air but man I enjoined watching these beauties! How they know and keep their lanes at this speeds remotely is amazing, and that noise!
Man watching this brought me back to my days of DOMINANCE in the rc boat world. It was fun to race against Jeff from Insane Boats in the Gas Cat class!!! Back when Antron Brown used to race these boats as well. Jeeeesh the good old days! The sound brought back soooooo many great memories of years of great weekends! I will say, when you mention the hobby is relatively inexpensive.. I would say ISH! I had a trailer, a boat in every class, a fully built out garage with every tool needed to build my boats. Prior to a big race weekend I personally replaced every part on my boats. Man great times! Thank you for the content.
Those things are MOVING! Looks like a really well attended event and a lot of great competition. The video was so well done! Informative and really helpful to the hobby. Great work!
I grew up in Miami back in the 60's off of Rickenbacker Causeway connected to Key Biscayne each weekend they would race these "old style" boats. At that time they weren't old. Fast and loud. Growing up in South FLA in the 60's and 70's was the best childhood any kid could ask for!
Thanks for showing the RC Jewelbox!! (49 seconds in) Great racing too! I am the guy who designed and built 11 of them. 1 prototype and 10 production ones over 20 years ago. In the video a comment was made about it being floatable. Well, one owner found out. He went to an RC air fly-in which had a pond. he thought his friend had chocked the tires; the friend thought he had. when the uncoupled the Jewelbox it rolled downhill into the pond. It floated long enough for them to wade out and get a rope on the tongue to pull it out. Thanks again for generating the memories.
Fond memories of the late 80's racing electric boats ,great competition it was a blast . Did scale replicas as well. R/C SPORTS ARE A FAMILY BUILDING HOBBY EVERYONE CAN ENJOY!
Man, these things are into unlimited hydroplane territory (speedwise). No wonder the chase drone was having trouble keeping up!! Those little water rockets are gettin' it!!😄👍👍👍👍
Man you guys brought back some sweet memories of watching the RC hydros back in the late 60s at the Model yacht basin on Vacation Isle on Mission Bay SD. Thanks!!
Okay. So I'd never even heard of this sporting event. But I GOTTA say, This stuff is truly EXCITING!!!! There's in "tension" in the air in my ROOM just watching this on YT!!!! And the speed of those r/c boats is kinda, like, MIND BLOWING!!!! Without a doubt, I've subscribed alreay. I can't wait to see more of these events here!!!!!!
Actually back in the day IMPBA and NAMBA were both around at the same time, not sure if NAMBA is still around they each had slightly different race rules and classes when I raced in the 70s and 80s.
Remember when they used to run the nats at red bug lake in orlando. I was runnin two Rossi 60’s on a twin rigger unlimited. Gawd I miss those days. Back in the early 80’s.
Wow I've been a member out here in Washington District 8 Namba with the northwest roostertails. Race gas Thunderboats at the Nationals back in 2009. Just want to say your facilities and this video is top notch! I could only dream of racing at a facility and pond as nice as yours! Well done to all involved!! You guys rock! Thanks so much for putting a smile on my face last night! God bless from Keith dog the foam boy & northwest roostertails. Big Gas R/C boats are the coolest!! ;p
Nice video, thank you... love rc boats, just have not bought, one yet... since even the electric brushless ones, are very expensive... one day soon, I will buy one.
Wow just ran across this video cool like the boats only seen 1 in real life and it was a big boy ran on actual 2 stroke fuel mix me nitro trucks and buggies biggest truck 1/5 scale anyway nice video stay safe
I fly helicopters planes and miniquads, I would suggest getting someone up high with something like a mavic or a phantom that will have a good 20-30 min flight time and get a good solid aerial of the race. And tbh if your drone pilot was a bit more experienced with the right equipment and flying skills he could keep right up with that race.
To bad I couldn't see the race for the drone flying. Was this about boat racing or flying the drone? Hold the thing steady so we can see what's up. I've never seen these races before.
I was 1 of race director/Marshall in my country...we used to organized big race from local tournament to international level...my question here for you is...how your organizer do a calculation during race periods?...do you have used any of electronics devise such as a transponder (mylap) PT or just using manually calculation & monitoring on every race laps.
Hi. My Husband passed away and I have a huge gas boat and 3 spares with all the remotes and spare parts and even more. I don't know what it is work but I am ready to get them go ne. Can anyone help me with this or is anyone Interested?
@@kris54241 As of this moment EV's outperform internal combustion autos in most metrics. Battery technology is getting better every year, while hydrocarbon fuels seem to have hit the wall. Regarding boats, there are some new full-sized electric boats that are making quite a splash. No, they don't yet have the range of internal combustion. However, for most uses these pleasure craft perform wonderfully as day boats. They're faster, ride smoother (hydrofoil), and are delightfully quiet. It's just a matter of time now.
@@thejdgoodwin In most metrics? Perhaps you can elaborate. There's almost nothing they can do better/cheaper. The only thing they do have is instant torque and low end torque.
I was so excited to watch it, waited through all the crap to the start of the race, then it was ruined with the stupid drone chase crap... Total waste of time waiting... If you're gonna use a drone hover over top of the track so we can enjoy watching, not get sick watching, the drone ruined the whole video 🙄🤦
I would like to give a big thanks to all VooDoo Members who helped make this event happen.
The hard work you put in for months has not gone unnoticed!
Any time mate.

I would of loved watching these in the 70s!
@@davidregan9872 It was a blast, I remember one I think it was the Miss Budweiser. Had a huge Allison 12 cylinder with a open cockpit. It was loud!

Uuuu....another channel with our man, the legend LA Hover
First class video . Great marketing too. I enjoyed this video. Thank you
What an amazing facility. Well done to whoever made that happen
Who ever shot the drone video and operated the drone needs to go to film school!

Outstanding video.
great video guys!!
Love the content!
I'd love to see some FE boats!
Also, tell the drone pilot, Nice flip!!
This makes me want to get back into rc boat racing
I use to race small nitro boats, .40 size beep V and .60 size pickle fork hydro.
That is phenomenal! Great video.
This can turn into a much more expensive boat addiction trust me!
I saw these at the Monterey club in California. Great video.
Awesome coverage
Nicely done all around.
Amazing footage,awesome job love it.
Well done!!! I haven't seen any videos like this. A great introduction to the world of RC boat racing.

Great video!
I race regular hydroplanes in WA and there a blast but for some reason these lil suckers look like so much fun😂 tempted to sell and get one of these
Would rather watch boats that a drone pilot using the chance to show off
Is this not the best RC Boat Racing movie ever.
Ingenuity is a prerequisite 😉👍🏻
Those are some serious machines. Subscribed
Great video thank you
👍From Hawaii 🤙
So cool keep up the videos
Wow! These guys are serious!
Love my two black cat55s. One with the race engine. But it doesn't compare to these things. Still enjoy the sport.
Great drone footage. Awesome boats bro. Have fun. Stay safe
Great boats, drone footage was shocking???
Super !!

Good afternoon to all from SE Louisiana 2 Jul 22.
Really great video ! would love to see more on RUclips after what I've already been following on Facebook
Know what type of drone was used for chasing? Sweet video thanks

At 1:12 in the video. What is that F1 kit that is marked GT-54?

Are you the gas bike guy?
Ran an arwo marine catamaran with a Pico 80 for years!
The drone messed that video all up
The whole video and it was never once shown from the shore so we could see how fast they are going.
Cool.....
What do the gas boat do
You guys need a drone pilot that has something with a bit more balls than your run of the mill 5"
How fast is "not slow"?
What do you get them at people
where can i purchase a gas powered rc boat ?
1/16 Mile straight away.. why cant we just say 100 meters? 😂
Wow that
Does anyone know where this is like country
how fast are they going MPH !!!???
okay I got my answer!
I usto do that verry experience and thay are fast I had a off shour cat with a ops and Pico
God is my friend god is my friend love god
Fire that drone operator covering the race. That was ridiculously poor performance.
Is this a guy only event?

No I have not sold yet.
I’m completely shocked how much people will spend on a toy boat. Kudos to rednecks.
Great boats but drone vid was way off par , sorry need better drone pilot
Skip to 11 min. To see race
This seems like another place where an electric vehicle will soon leave the fossil-fuelers in the dust (or wakes, as the case may be).
Doubtful, run time is abysmal compared to gas. Batteries are way heavier than gas as well. I have an electric RC truck and boat.
