Great info. What about thinning you paint for spraying. (I have a a Graco Magnum Sprayer). I just purchased SW Duration paint for my Hardie Panels and some vinyl siding and man is it thick. I'm worried it won't spray well. Would you thin it?
Very helpful video here. But we should also, if when in doubt, check the tds for proper tip size. Not all paints are made the same. Keep the videos coming. Always awesome information Chris!
I have two questions. The first one is covering OSB board. I’m gonna be painting USB on the inside of a shed and was wondering what tip it may be a paint recommendation. The second question is about painting oversell spray film. I’m planning on using a 515 with a water-based acrylic. Any thoughts or suggestions on painting spray foam?
So I know you’re supposed to have an end point when spraying wall/siding but what are your tips if it’s a 3 story house with long walls and no end point in the middle??
Hi Chris Question.... Will a sprayer help hide critical light on a ceiling I've painted it with Wooster 450m sleeve Flat paint But this one spot looks patchy One whole side of lounge is glass Im running out of options I have a Graco handheld with a 515 tip would this work
I watched one of your older video series about new construction spraying..you used a 1221 tip for PVA primer..wondering if that would still be the case today or do you have an updated recommendation?
I know this video was 8 months ago. I have a 2100 ft² home that fell in my lap. I'm doing most of it myself as far as the wreckout and remodel. I feel confident going wih RUclips university based off the quotes I get for these jobs. Ridiculous! I realize not everybody is a blue collar work with their hands type person but if you are able to do it yourself.🤷♂️ My question is if I had only one tip to choose for interior walls and ceilings would it be the HEA 619 @ 1000 PSI. Would that get er done for a first timer? Thank you!
How important is it to follow the tip size recommendation on the paint gallon. For example, duration exterior says you need a .017, but could you cheat it and use a .015 for less overspray outside?
I’ve used 621 with my 440. But a 619 is fine as long as you know what you’re doing and have your pressure dialed in. I’m a commercial painter, interior is 621 or 631 depending on what we’re doing for walls. But we’re doing big walls and back rolling everything
Also is it best to spray the window trim b4 spraying the house? I see you guys usually paint the base of the home b4 spraying the house. Why is that? Sorry for the ?’s
So Wagner/titan use the same material to produce those HEA pro tips with different internal design to spray at lower pressure and they don't last longer? And again, at lower pressure you get more overspray when doing exterior?Am I missing something here? 🤔🥴😂🤣🤣🤣
It kind of depends on the type of paint you're using too, no? The Sherwin Williams Emerald Trim paint says to use a 0.013 - 0.017 tip. So a 310 tip wouldn't work.
@ryanspence7239 After this video and other reviews, I did the same, used a 310 low pressure fine finish tip (green one) and it worked like a charm. Had to buy the blue guard to to work with this tip.
@@ridenorthwest1687 my airless does not have an indicated pressure dial only a pressure gauge that I purchased to set the pressure. Do you just put the tip in a bucket pull the trigger and dial in the pressure with the gauge? Thanks
@@Slushers1 If your gauge is set on the pump side of the hose the pressure will be about 50-100 psi higher than on the gun side so take that into account. I personally just load the pump up with paint and test spray pattern on paper/plastic masking untill the spray pattern is ideal at the lowest possible pressure. Depending on tip/ hose length the pressure required will vary. Dont overthink the pressure, the goal is just good spray pattern with minimal overspray.
Do all paints have to be watered down to some degree to be used with a sprayer? Whether a cheaper Wagner from the big box store, or a "fancy" one like you have? Great video!
Airless sprayers will spray any paint without being watered down. It's only when you use hvlp's that you have have to start playing with reducing. Wagner sprayers are more trouble than they are worth. Get a titan 400 or 440 if you will be doing enough painting to justify the use of a sprayer. Even just renting one is worth the time over buying a wagner.
@@ridenorthwest1687 wow..... wish I saw this comment a while ago. I ended up with a Wagner 350m. Once played around with it and the pro tips its actually a flawless machine. I love it and hate it. Easy to use and clean but the hose is a nightmare and a real pain in the ass. The spray quality is just acceptable. Its a good machine but not the best of the best.

Exellent tips for a custom paintig
Production tips - 515 Bedford black or titan red for exterior @2000-2200 psi, up to a 619 tip for interior walls.
HEA 619 @800-1100 psi for ceilings.

Any reason you’re not recommending a graco low pressure fine finish on trim? 1200 psi graco fflp comparing to 2200psi titan fine finish.
Always great, usable information!

What is the best tip to use for fence care on a Titan 1900
thanks guys for sharing !
I have a graco magnum project painters plus , which Tip is recommended for kitchen cabinets? Im using oil base paint, and I currently have a 311 tip
So I know you’re supposed to have an end point when spraying wall/siding but what are your tips if it’s a 3 story house with long walls and no end point in the middle??
Mix extender in the paint so it dries slower which will help it blend

Do you think a 619 tip is too big for a 440 titan or would you use a smaller tip for interior walls?
619 way to big bro . 415 I use for walls ..

On a piston sprayer how do you adjust the pressures with a gauge? Thanks ✌️
Most airless sprayers have a dial to adjust pressures without an external gauge.
