- Ranking all the dragons of Spyro 1 Reignited is a doozy of a challenge, but a fun one nonetheless! I hope you guys don't mind me splitting this into three parts either, because I prefer not running my larynx raw!

ABOUT THE GAME
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a platform video game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision. It is a collection of remasters of the first three games in the Spyro series: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. The game was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 13, 2018.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a collection of remasters of the first three games in the Spyro series: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon; all of which were originally developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation and released from 1998 to 2000. It was announced on April 5, 2018, following the release and success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which was a similar collection of remasters of the first three Crash Bandicoot titles that Activision also published. Eurogamer noted there was a high public demand for a classic Spyro trilogy to receive the same treatment after N. Sane Trilogy was released.
Tom Kenny, who voiced Spyro the Dragon in the original Ripto's Rage! and Year of the Dragon, reprised his role in Spyro Reignited Trilogy with re-recorded voice lines, including the first game, in which Spyro was originally voiced by Carlos Alazraqui. Stewart Copeland, the music composer of the three original games, wrote a new main theme for the compilation. His original compositions for the games were remastered by Stephan Vankov, an employee of Toys for Bob, with the game including an option to choose between the two soundtracks. Reignited Trilogy uses the Unreal Engine 4 game engine.
After initially being scheduled for release on September 21, 2018, it was delayed until November 13, 2018. The physical release of Reignited Trilogy contains the full game of Spyro the Dragon, as well as a subset of levels from Ripto's Rage! and Year of the Dragon. The remaining levels must be downloaded as part of an in-game update.

I did like Andor's design but I can understand your frustration, it is pretty basic & he says the recurring line of "Thank you for releasing me."
There's only one dragon in the game that is so great that the word "best" or "greatest" doesn't even apply. And that is our boi Spyro.

Fun fact:Astor was the one who probably pissed-off the Sorceress into banishing all the dragons from the forgotten worlds.

Personally I LOVE Nestor. I love his animation, design, and characteristics. I also love how T4B turned Nestor into your casual green dragon but in a more unique way.
Nestor is awesome, which is good considering he's the poster boy for the trapped dragons. I love his voice, clothes, animations... he's just so friggin cool. :D

I have to note with Ragnar that his animation includes the sort of smoky steamy reaction of breath meeting freezing air through his nostrils as he talks. A tiny, tiny detail but considering the location, extra points to my mind for accuracy.

Well to me it’s pretty obvious who is the #1 dragon in this game. I love his design, his voice, his animation, his cutscenes, and his attitude is awesome. He’s also the only dragon here to walk on all four legs. He’s purple, his design isn’t too complex, and represents my childhood...and that of course is Spyro. Luv my boy Spyro!!!
As much as I'd love to put Spyro at number 1 that would be cheating I think! 😂
Its weird when you realize that Oswin is the first version of Nestor (or the placeholder) they showed in the very first trailer when reignited was first announced.. Glad they didn't keep him as Nestor though cause the design just really didn't fit .

I absolutely agree with your thoughts about Titan. He was my favorite dragon in Peace Keepers because in contrast to the Artisan Dragons, he was absolutely HUGE which made Spyro even MORE tiny lol
I kind of hated his Reignited design because it shrunk him down and made him less intimidating as the name just became more of a way to describe his warrior appearance rather than describe his size, which isn't really bad because the theme of Peace Keepers (at least the way I see it) is that they are strictly military / warrior dragons.
With that being said, all they had to do was just add all of the quirks they had made for his Reignited Design and just make him still the same size he was in the original and maybe make a silly gag with him nearly hitting the ceiling before he talks to Spyro. It would've been a bit of slapstick. I dunno. Anything would be better than the design they came up with.
Did you think his movements felt a little bit stiff and awkward too? Sometimes when he moves his arm it looks odd to me!
@@ToridoriGaming Now that you mentioned it, I think they made him look stiff on purpose to exaggerate his proud warrior personality. But I agree, it really does look jagged outside of that possible explanation.

I'm kind of itching to try and redesign Titan even though I'm not really one to draw Spyro art as often as I do with Sonic and Zelda. But it'll be fun to draw dragons every once in a while :3c

I didn't even notice the amazing amounts of detail on the dragons the first time around
And sometimes you look a third or fourth time and still see something you didn't before! Like Unika - I mentioned his harp and belly but didn't realize his tail looked like the tuning thingies you see on the neck of a stringed instrument. 😱
I think because the graphics from the ps1 were a bit limited, I think some of the spots were actually meant to be scales on some of them, or the spots were meant to just make them look more detailed since they couldn't add very much to them due to limitations!

So wierd, I’m currently working on a video similar to this. I’m surprised other people took interest in talking about the dragon designs. Anyway, this was a really well done video and I can’t wait to see the rest. My top 3 favorite dragons are Lyle, Alban, and Cyprus.

Yeah I'm surprised more aren't talking about this because the designs are fantastic! What disappointed me was Spyro 3's baby dragons and their lack of variety.
Watching this video for a fourth or more time. I've noticed Isaac is based off of a python or some sort of snake. Which made me smile watching him do his little dance thing.
Ohh I can see it now actually! I'm thinking Kaa from The Jungle Book. :D

14:52 I totally agree. Not ONE single damn dragon had spot. Which im very annoyed with cause a lot of them had spots in the original.
Since writing up Part 2 I've noticed a few have spots, but they tend to be dragons who didn't have them to begin with. :(
I know making such a large countdown can be a bit difficult, but I think some of the dragons seemed misplaced based on your likeness of them.
For example, Eldrid at #63 you adore his alchemist aesthetic, and his animations, saying "Is there anything not to love about this guy?", while Isaak at #59, higher on the list, which you say doesn't stand out, and isn't too special. And even with Cedric at #54, you really seemed disappointed in completely, which is worse than just being a "meh" character, like Isaak. Though, like I said, 74 dragons to count down is definitely a big task, especially when going in depth as you did here, so I do understand this list feeling a bit out of order.
Regardless, I do look forward to the next 2 parts, besides the confusion, this has been a very entertaining watch!
Yeah, I didn't get my point across with Isaak. Others may like him and he isn't bad, but personally for me I forget the design. Eldrid however is lower because he only says, "Thank you for releasing me", whereas Isaak is very enthusiastic talking about super charge ramps, which is kinda cute. :)
And Cedric I putwhere he is because I can see why people would like him, in fact I've had a few people tell me there's no reason for me NOT to like him lol! 😂

That's what I love about these designs, there's always something you don't see at first that takes a couple more viewings to notice. :D

11:18 i really adore Azizis design ! When i saw him in game, i was really impressed. Yes he did say the boring old line which was a sad, but his voice actor is michael gough ! I knew i've heard his voice before and what you know. Hes been in so many kids movies i use to watch when i were younger. Awesome video btw

With the old dragons, I think it's more that the "senile old person" trope is so cliche and done to death
I'm still deciding if I like Zeke or he's ugly, but at least he's unique! And I can't really blame TFB for the old person thing as it was a part of OG Spyro, it just gets annoying after a while. 😂
I did also like Mazi’s voice in the PS1 version more. I also agree that Cleetus’s line is pointless.

Playing as a young boy, I never realized that the dragons had some useful info to tell (as someone who learnt English only later), this made me to beat the game even more diffucult the first time. With reignited (and better English knowledge) the first game was super easy with all these plus info.
I love how you're honest about your opinions on these things, not scared to mention how you prefer things in the original. So many people and RUclipsrs are usually so "Reignited is so much better" or "I only like the original" When personally, sure I prefer the originals but I still love RT and try to enjoy it as much as I can even if I have many problems.
I think most RUclipsrs are too scared to say anything bad about remakes because they don't want criticism, a lot of people don't seem to think it's possible to enjoy something but also have problems with it. Or on the other hand are so dismissive of something new that they refuse to even pay attention to it.
That mini rant aside! I know it's been a long time since you've talked about Spyro but I came across your Spyro videos recently and I really like your content, personality and honesty!

AZIZI FACT:
Did you know that Azizi is blind (that was already mentioned in the video) and wears those glasses and they have stars in them? That itself is quite obvious but the reason they have stars in them is to represent the fact that he uses the stars and constellations to guide him although he cannot see.
I heard that somewhere so yeah if you didn't know that well now you do so there you go.

Altair could've had a completely different line of dialogue to give more info about Blowhard. The dragon in every other boss level has something to say about the boss, with Altair being a weird exception. They could've used his actual voiceline elsewhere to replace one of the many utterances of "thanks for releasing me"
That would have been a good idea! He could have given you a hint on how to defeat Blowhard, not that I need it but it would be good for newcomers.

Trouble with the Ice Cavern Dragons, eh?
Let us not forget that 4 out of 5 of these dragons are on this list, we skimmed over the fact Ragnar was also in the ice caverns.
Although, some of you already knew this
Remember in the PS1 version of Spyro 1 they had Clancy Brown voice every single individual dragon you saved? Clancy must have gotten an enormous paycheck from Sony because he never voices another Spyro game since he went on to voice Baron Praxis in the Jak and Daxter series instead. Clancy was always more a Crash guy then a Spyro guy.
Didn't they screw him over with Crash in terms of payment, to the point he didn't come back to voice Cortex anymore? :o

It took me a couple of playthroughs, but I now love Cedric's teacher/scholar design. My personal favourite, though, is Apara from Dark Passage. I love his colour, his wings, the way he prods his lantern at the end, and the fact that he just looks like he needs a hug! I look forward to seeing where he comes in this list.

I honestly wish they stayed true to the dragons' original colors and patterns. I'm pretty salty about none of them having spots, too.

We need more elderly dragons that tell Spyro to give Gnasty Gnork trouble for them. I'd take, "Give Gnasty Gnork a good beating for me" over "Who are you again?" any day. If only to add variety to the "old person stereotypes" rather than just use the same one over and over again.

I'll have you know every dragon is bright, bold and beautiful and that every one of them is the best. Kidding, kidding. Also uh 5:28, that's an interesting design choice if you know what I'm talking about, TFB XD Though I don't agree with all of them, it's pretty good so far. You've even pointed out details I never noticed before, it's kind of a shame they only appear for like 5 seconds then disappear, becomes somewhat tricky to study their designs without a screenshot. Though I love the love and care that went into them.
Us PC bois still waiting for this Dragon-y goodness. The struggle is real.

I know I'm late here with watching this, but I have noticed with the dragons that originally had spots, some of them with their new design incorporates scutes and spikes in place of them.
With all the love for the chunky bois that you mention, I can tell Magnus is gonna be preeeeetty close to the best.

Loving this ranking! I enjoy your takes so much - you bring up a lot of points that I wouldn't have considered (or possibly wouldn't have cared as much about). I can also tell that you're a hardcore fan of the original trilogy. :) I agree more or less with almost everything, except for a couple... keep in mind that this is the opinion of someone who only played the OG Spyro once when I was like 10:

#58. Titan - I thought he was badass. Would've probably had him in the Top 10, honestly, but I get the disappointment compared to the original.
#56. Oswin - One of my favorite Artisans dragons (and that's saying something since I adored most of them). I know he doesn't have the coolest design, but I like the voice acting a lot and appreciate his yawning animation when breaking free.

I think the spots were meant to be scales, it's hard to tell with PS1 graphics at times.
It could be, though I always liked to imagine they were fuzzy with spots. :D

My least favorite dragon in Reignited, for completely personal and trite reasons, is Alban from Dark Hollow. Because when I was a kid, I always thought he was Spyro’s father, or at least looked like he could fill the part. Now, he looks nothing like a potential Spyro’s father. Again these are completely personal, and I stress trite reasons.
I always thought Sadiki was his dad! :D

I think Hexus has different dialogue if you haven’t been to Sunny Flight yet. He tells you how to do open the secret waterfall entrance.

I know this is entirely your opinion and I fully respect it, but I feel that Boldar from Magic Crafters and Zikomo from Dream Weavers should be on this part of the list.
Boldar because he is yet another elderly dragon interrupted by Spyro while sharing an anecdote.
Zikomo because it's like the Ajax treatment but worse. I like his design but he only said four words (hello Spyro, nicely done), which is even fewer than the word count for 'thank you for releasing me'!

I like a lot of the dragons. I have my own opinions on which I think are good and bad.
This video is old, but I did notice that Asher has some faded scars on his design. Perhaps he is a retired warrior and he came the the ice caves to settle down.
I like inthe ps1 how some of the crystal dragons would shake for a long time before opening, like it's hard to break out

Whilst I know a lot of people like Bubba in Misty Bog in Reignited I always preferred Clancys voice coming out of the dragon compared to who voiced him in Reignited
One thing i did find disappointing about Reignited was the delivery of certain dialogue. I do feel like some dialogue worked better in the original and certain animations. I also miss the Spots on Peace Keeper Dragons as well: Titan in particular i thought looked cool in the original because he had this LeapardDragon type look to him.
How come none of the dragons in the original Spyro game had any props, jewellery or clothes of any kind but they did in the reignited version ? 🤔

Hey Tori, I sadly didn't know about your channel until recently so I never got the chance to watch any of your Spyro livestreams, but I've been working my way through the videos as best I can.
Apologies if I've missed somebody asking this before, but have you considered doing a video where you rank your favourite tracks from the OST (original or Reignited), or anything along those lines?
Hey! I'm not very good when it comes to music so that would probably be a list I don't do unfortunately. All I'd really be able to say is, "Yeah, it's not bad." 😂
Haha fair enough, it just seemed to me to be something people tend to have strongly-held views on (particularly as regards the Reignited changes/updates). I'd personally struggle to single out 10 favourites because it's all good 😂 I'll look forward to future videos anyway.
Did Clancy voice Mazi in the original version of Dream Weavers I think Neil Kaplan voices Mazi in Reignited so that’s why Mazi sounds different compared to the original version
Well Clancy Brown didn't come back for Reignited, so they would have to get someone else. It just sounds slightly creepy to me... xD

@@ToridoriGaming when he was voicing cortex in the crash games after naughty dog left he didn't get payed well. He doesn't do voice work for crash and Spyro anymore for that reason. There may be more to it but I cannot remember.
Marlon Haigh and not to mention universal also screwed over the devs of enter the dragonfly by forbidding them to delay it until summer 2003
