Unfortunately all that love went to the elder dragons, and the baby dragons from The Year of the Dragon look like they got as much love as kids in an orphanage.

I am PASSIONATE about the subspecies designs of these dragons...Boris(rattlesnake), Todor & Altair(gryphon/valkryie), Cleetus & Cyprin(crocodilian) Isaak(frog), Mudada(plush), some wonderfully weird looking creations i never would have imagined like Gunnar and Jed and Zeke, i saw some eastern dragons...plus the little trinkets that explain so much about their profession and personality.. this is peak character design.
My favorite has to be the dark colored wings with the stars all over them, very beautiful! I think one of the ones I saw was Kosoko from Haunted Towers.

A pretty nice detail is that most of the dragons who give tips on flying have pretty big wings, as the dragons who give tips on combat tend to be big, muscular or both.
Special shout out to Magnus who gives tips on feeding Sparx while taking stances like a Sumo wrestler since they're known for eating huge amounts of food
I'm jealous of Spyro. Not because he is a dragon, or that he can fly, or that he can breathe fire and also has a ton of gems stuffed somewhere for himself but because he has 74 dads. Who doesn't want 74 dads?

I just noticed something disturbing: remember how in the third game the Sorceress has been killing baby dragons and using their wings as ingredients for her immortality potion, and was said to have ruled the land a thousand years ago? Note that some of the elder dragons have artificial wings, made of crystal or metal. Are they...survivors of her evil schemes?
More than the designs themselves, I love only their animation. It's incredible how all of them are flying/walking off differently! P.S. Bubba is my dragon daddy now
*SPYRO 1 THEORY* There are no female dragons during Spyro 1, because they're all on a vacation and left the males to protect the land while they are gone. BOOM CONFIRMED!!!!!!
There was one in the original game who was voiced by the same gentleman who later ended up voicing half the Nords in Skyrim. I'm pretty sure it was Zane, but it's been over a year since I played through, so I'm not 100% sure which dragon it was.
I’ve just noticed something after watching this several times, at 3:42, the dragon Darius moves the skull so it sits at the back of his hands and moves it forward and flaps his wings as he mentions the flame attack, making it seem like the skull was doing the same motions Spyro does and the wing flap was like a fire sound effect. That’s so cool!
I love what they did with these dragons and how they're all themed around their homeland. I love Devlin with the cake, he is absolutely adorable! Gavin and Copano with the tea are definitely my spirit dragons XD Especially love what they did with my boy Lateef. He's my favourite dragon, and I love what they did with his design turning him into a meditation guru. His wings are so pretty too
I remember Titan being my favorite when I was a kid. His redesign was a pleasant surprise! They all look amazing and incredibly unique yet connected to their homeworlds. The reignited team gave it their all. Well done! My inner 6 year old is bursting with joy!

Love how all the dragons go with the theme of the world they’re in. It makes it very aesthetic. Beast makers is my fav world. I think it looks the best out of all of them. I also like dream weavers too.
We got Artisan Dragons (dragons who practice different kinds of art) Warrior Dragons (dragons who train and practice in case of war) Magic Dragons (dragons who practice almost all kinds of magic) Swamp Dragons (dragons with Cajun accents who *used to live* peacefully in the swamp) and Medieval Dragons (dragons who are bringing back a different age)
The Dream Weavers, as the name implies, weave dreams and fend off nightmares. You can tell by their designs that they also have a more cosmic astrological affinity.
The Rpg nerd in me favors the Dreamweavers & Magic Dragon designs the most while the Furfag side lusts after the Warriors, Artisans (Nestor, Deblin, & Gavin specifically), & some Beastmakers.
All this time and I still can't get enough of these designs. You can tell so much about these dragons from the costumes and tools they have! Like how Ivor's a bombardier who's clearly seen their fair share of action judging by the medals and scars he's sporting. Or how Eldrid is so committed to his work as an alchemist that his horns are potion bottles and he jotted down alchemic formulae on his wings! Just wish so many of them didn't just say "thank you for releasing me."
These dragon animations are really awesome! They give each of them so much more personality. Even if all they do is offer congratulations, the way they're designed and the way they move give them a bit of insight into what they're like.
I honestly wish they would've given Spyro his own little costume, so he wouldn't look so naked compared to the other dragons. Something small like a scarf and a belt, since he's an Artisan dragon. And googles and fingerless gloves, because they're cool. IDK. I also wish they'd made some female dragons, too.
Have you guys noticed that the dragons have various jobs according to the worlds they live? The Artisans are peasants, the Peace Keepers are warriors, the Magic crafters are magicians, the Beast Makers are shamans and the Dream Weavers are priests.
Well the originals did come out in the late '90s when 3D platformers were taking off, and games were still seen as kid stuff. I personally like the way they handled it, with his elders giving him helpful tips as thanks as opposed to something less organic
Can we all just take a moment to revel in Jed’s “I dunno” shrug in response to Spyro’s complaint in the hardest part of Tree Tops. After I lost 50 lives (I’m not that good at super charge jumps XD), I was not expecting that from Jed and it made me laugh. Still not a big fan of the level, but Jed and Isaak (as well as Lyle with their hints- which were super helpful) make it okay.
I freakin love there designs! They all look so badass yet adorable at the same time especially Spyro he's so pure. I seriously wanna hug all of them!!! **squeals like a schoolgirl**
I like to think that Lateef is blind, mainly due to the fact that he doesn't seem to look right at Spyro, but instead, right past him. He does it both times he's rescued. ^^
I love Bakari (19:26) He is such an elegant, beautiful dragon. His wings are gorgeous and his sheep slippers are so cute! And the cane is a nice touch. I wish I could see his tail, I can tell he has golden scales there too
It's a shame that you never really see any of these dragons again, I mean most of them have a pretty cool design. I also find it a bit weird how they make the dragons move around a lot, I mean it's not a bad thing at all I just find it weird.
Acctually, on the last area, all the dragons you rescue are some of the ones you've already seem.(Also I kinda like how the dragons move, it gives them more personality. But that's just my opinion)

15:10 that's my man I like how realistic the tails and wings move for what a dragon (especially a bipedal one) would be even in a cartoon world. Even made more funny how the much fatter dragons have a harder time flying with certain motions which would be realistic as well given the structure of them.

For example, all the Magic crafters are either sorcerers or alchemists.
Spyro's voice acting is as good as ever, yet I can't help but feel like I prefer the voice acting of the Dragons a little bit more in the original. It ain't half bad though, the voice acting in this game. And the designs really do make me want to play this game more. I quit watching up to Conan because I don't want to spoil too much of that for myself.
So it seems that the dragons represent their worlds quite well. Artisans: They seem to be into the arts and/or have specific trades. Probably a working class type dragon world with some sort of economy. Peace Keepers: Warriors, fighters, and soldiers, etc. They don't seem to use much magic. Magic Crafters: Alchemists and magicians. Unlike the Peace Keeper dragons, they seem less physically powerful but make up for it by being intelligent spellcasters. Beast Makers: Perhaps farmer swamp people dragons, and maybe practioners of darker magic such as voodoo, hexing, or black magic? Dream Weavers: I'm a little stuck on this one but they seem to also be heavily influenced by magic such as the Magic Crafters dragons, but maybe they're more old school with it. For some reason I feel like these dragons would be the partying type as well. Gnasty's World: All the dragons here are repeats for some reason.
The Beast Makers dragons are actually responsible for making the creatures that inhabit the various worlds. And the Dream Weavers monitor the dreams of sleeping dragons and fend off nightmares
Dream weavers all focus on sleep in some form or another. From aromatherapy (the smoke coming out of the urn) to simple things like the dragon dressed in pajamas or carrying a hot mug of milk.
I like how Toys For Bob took the time to flesh out each dragon into their own realm-themed professions like Artisans being workers and recreation, Peace Keepers being soldiers and weaponmasters, and Magic Crafters being mages and alchemists. Activision really outdone themselves with this remaster on all fronts; the graphics, the style, the personality, the animation, the gameplay of all three games, everything!

Revilo almost lools like he's made of wood. Heck, he creaks when he moves and uses his tail as a rocking chair.
Zeke is most likely based on a spiny soft shell turtle.
Alban design looks similar to a sea dragon

I love how they gave each of the 74 dragons a unique design (the in-game dragon count is 80 but there are six dragons that have to be rescued twice).
And furthermore, each world's dragons had consistency in the original game too.

There was one in the original game who was voiced by the same gentleman who later ended up voicing half the Nords in Skyrim. I'm pretty sure it was Zane, but it's been over a year since I played through, so I'm not 100% sure which dragon it was.

I’ve just noticed something after watching this several times, at 3:42, the dragon Darius moves the skull so it sits at the back of his hands and moves it forward and flaps his wings as he mentions the flame attack, making it seem like the skull was doing the same motions Spyro does and the wing flap was like a fire sound effect. That’s so cool!

I love what they did with these dragons and how they're all themed around their homeland. I love Devlin with the cake, he is absolutely adorable! Gavin and Copano with the tea are definitely my spirit dragons XD Especially love what they did with my boy Lateef. He's my favourite dragon, and I love what they did with his design turning him into a meditation guru. His wings are so pretty too
I remember Titan being my favorite when I was a kid. His redesign was a pleasant surprise! They all look amazing and incredibly unique yet connected to their homeworlds. The reignited team gave it their all. Well done! My inner 6 year old is bursting with joy!

Love how all the dragons go with the theme of the world they’re in. It makes it very aesthetic. Beast makers is my fav world. I think it looks the best out of all of them. I also like dream weavers too.

and Medieval Dragons (dragons who are bringing back a different age)
The Dream Weavers, as the name implies, weave dreams and fend off nightmares. You can tell by their designs that they also have a more cosmic astrological affinity.
The Rpg nerd in me favors the Dreamweavers & Magic Dragon designs the most while the Furfag side lusts after the Warriors, Artisans (Nestor, Deblin, & Gavin specifically), & some Beastmakers.

All this time and I still can't get enough of these designs. You can tell so much about these dragons from the costumes and tools they have! Like how Ivor's a bombardier who's clearly seen their fair share of action judging by the medals and scars he's sporting. Or how Eldrid is so committed to his work as an alchemist that his horns are potion bottles and he jotted down alchemic formulae on his wings! Just wish so many of them didn't just say "thank you for releasing me."

It's been a year and I'm still lovin' it.
I honestly wish they would've given Spyro his own little costume, so he wouldn't look so naked compared to the other dragons. Something small like a scarf and a belt, since he's an Artisan dragon. And googles and fingerless gloves, because they're cool. IDK.
I also wish they'd made some female dragons, too.

Have you guys noticed that the dragons have various jobs according to the worlds they live? The Artisans are peasants, the Peace Keepers are warriors, the Magic crafters are magicians, the Beast Makers are shamans and the Dream Weavers are priests.

The dialogue really sounds like it was made for people who never played a game before, but the character redesigns are ON POINT.
Basically it's the same dialogue from the original game with some tweaks here and there, but you're right. The character designs here are top notch.
Well the originals did come out in the late '90s when 3D platformers were taking off, and games were still seen as kid stuff. I personally like the way they handled it, with his elders giving him helpful tips as thanks as opposed to something less organic

Can we all just take a moment to revel in Jed’s “I dunno” shrug in response to Spyro’s complaint in the hardest part of Tree Tops. After I lost 50 lives (I’m not that good at super charge jumps XD), I was not expecting that from Jed and it made me laugh.
Still not a big fan of the level, but Jed and Isaak (as well as Lyle with their hints- which were super helpful) make it okay.

I love the sense of community the dragons have, especially in how they’re mentoring and raising Spyro it’s like they’re all his dads/older brothers.
I like to think that Lateef is blind, mainly due to the fact that he doesn't seem to look right at Spyro, but instead, right past him. He does it both times he's rescued. ^^
I love Bakari (19:26) He is such an elegant, beautiful dragon. His wings are gorgeous and his sheep slippers are so cute! And the cane is a nice touch. I wish I could see his tail, I can tell he has golden scales there too

It's a shame that you never really see any of these dragons again, I mean most of them have a pretty cool design. I also find it a bit weird how they make the dragons move around a lot, I mean it's not a bad thing at all I just find it weird.
Acctually, on the last area, all the dragons you rescue are some of the ones you've already seem.(Also I kinda like how the dragons move, it gives them more personality. But that's just my opinion)

I like how realistic the tails and wings move for what a dragon (especially a bipedal one) would be even in a cartoon world. Even made more funny how the much fatter dragons have a harder time flying with certain motions which would be realistic as well given the structure of them.

Spyro's voice acting is as good as ever, yet I can't help but feel like I prefer the voice acting of the Dragons a little bit more in the original. It ain't half bad though, the voice acting in this game. And the designs really do make me want to play this game more. I quit watching up to Conan because I don't want to spoil too much of that for myself.
So it seems that the dragons represent their worlds quite well.
Artisans: They seem to be into the arts and/or have specific trades. Probably a working class type dragon world with some sort of economy.
Peace Keepers: Warriors, fighters, and soldiers, etc. They don't seem to use much magic.
Magic Crafters: Alchemists and magicians. Unlike the Peace Keeper dragons, they seem less physically powerful but make up for it by being intelligent spellcasters.
Beast Makers: Perhaps farmer swamp people dragons, and maybe practioners of darker magic such as voodoo, hexing, or black magic?
Dream Weavers: I'm a little stuck on this one but they seem to also be heavily influenced by magic such as the Magic Crafters dragons, but maybe they're more old school with it. For some reason I feel like these dragons would be the partying type as well.
Gnasty's World: All the dragons here are repeats for some reason.
According to canon, the repeat dragons in Gnasty's World attempted to confront Gnasty Gnorc, but failed and were trapped in crystal again
The Beast Makers dragons are actually responsible for making the creatures that inhabit the various worlds. And the Dream Weavers monitor the dreams of sleeping dragons and fend off nightmares
Dream weavers all focus on sleep in some form or another. From aromatherapy (the smoke coming out of the urn) to simple things like the dragon dressed in pajamas or carrying a hot mug of milk.

I like how Toys For Bob took the time to flesh out each dragon into their own realm-themed professions like Artisans being workers and recreation, Peace Keepers being soldiers and weaponmasters, and Magic Crafters being mages and alchemists.
Activision really outdone themselves with this remaster on all fronts; the graphics, the style, the personality, the animation, the gameplay of all three games, everything!
