I love this trilogy remake. It was such a wonderful return to my childhood. I was tempted to play them in reverse order like I did as a kid, but in the end it didn’t matter because each game was just so fun to revisit. I still turn it on now and then to play through a couple levels. I loved the redesigns of the characters while still fitting the characters.

This remaster was so perfect. The animation models, especially for Spyro, were absolutely fantastic and they managed to still keep the look and feel of the old Spyro games. Best look for Spyro, by far. The only one I have any complaints about, is Hunter. Something about him just doesn't feel like it belongs and I can't pinpoint exactly what it is.

There are female dragons later in the series ( Cynder & Ember are two examples, however I forgot when Ember was brought in, I want to think she was among the first games ), or if you've ever played -- well, attempt would be the better definition due to all its glitches to being downright unplayable, The Legend of Spyro and the Shadow Legacy -- there are female dragons. So either they weren't brought into existence worthy of mention in the beginning games, though some of the hatchlings do come out appearing to be female -- or just were too lazy to give them a place.
It’s honestly amazing how different games are between then and now. Three Spyro games and it only amounts to 36 minutes of cutscenes while some games today can have hours of cutscenes for just one game.
My god Bianca looks a lot like Lola. Elora seems to be more flirtatious with Spyro in this game that she was in the original but I guess it fits her character. You have to admit that the last cutscene in Year of the Dragon after you collect all 150 eggs is adorable.

I had never played spyro before but since RUclips randomly decided to start recommending me these I've got to say the higher res models give the characters a lot more...character. Reminds me of WoW's transition to higher res character models for their cutscenes.

Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the original cutscenes are still charming. These are very pretty and well-acted, to be sure. But the primitive 3D of the PlayStation... I don't know quite why, but it's endearing.
I notice Tom Kenny's take on Spyro here is somewhat different than in the PS1 trilogy, and I dont completely chalk that up to his age or voicing SpongeBob for years on end as much as it was him being directed differently. Spyro in the first game (who was not voiced by Tom Kenny) was like a really whiny kid who thinks he's all that. Reignited Spyro 1 uses the exact same lines, but completely changes the context of them to make Spyro seem less like a tough kid and more like a really eager do gooder, basically Spongebob if his balls dropped a bit (or a less excited Heffer from Rocko's Modern Life). Even in Spyro 2 and 3, Spyro sounds much less curt, aggressive and confrontational sounding despite his dialogue being 1:1 with the originals. A good example is his "Pussycat" exchange with Hunter in Spyro 2. In the original, Spyro really made it sound like a tough guy insult. In the remake, the intent is still there, but he's more mellow and nasally sounding. Same with his exchange with Elora in the "Im a faun, you dork!" scene. In the original, Spyro acted kindof rude towards Elora and Elora sounded genuinely insulted, whereas in the remake he sounds genuinely curious about what she is and Elora is more playful in calling him a dork. I imagine it was done to make him more friendly sounding and less of the 90's mascot with attitude that he original was.

Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the original cutscenes are still charming.
These are very pretty and well-acted, to be sure. But the primitive 3D of the PlayStation... I don't know quite why, but it's endearing.
I notice Tom Kenny's take on Spyro here is somewhat different than in the PS1 trilogy, and I dont completely chalk that up to his age or voicing SpongeBob for years on end as much as it was him being directed differently. Spyro in the first game (who was not voiced by Tom Kenny) was like a really whiny kid who thinks he's all that. Reignited Spyro 1 uses the exact same lines, but completely changes the context of them to make Spyro seem less like a tough kid and more like a really eager do gooder, basically Spongebob if his balls dropped a bit (or a less excited Heffer from Rocko's Modern Life). Even in Spyro 2 and 3, Spyro sounds much less curt, aggressive and confrontational sounding despite his dialogue being 1:1 with the originals. A good example is his "Pussycat" exchange with Hunter in Spyro 2. In the original, Spyro really made it sound like a tough guy insult. In the remake, the intent is still there, but he's more mellow and nasally sounding. Same with his exchange with Elora in the "Im a faun, you dork!" scene. In the original, Spyro acted kindof rude towards Elora and Elora sounded genuinely insulted, whereas in the remake he sounds genuinely curious about what she is and Elora is more playful in calling him a dork. I imagine it was done to make him more friendly sounding and less of the 90's mascot with attitude that he original was.
