Definitely try natural medicine for better results, otherwise side effects of the heart meds will lead to taking more meds, all the while never improving. This is what happened to my dad who eventually died at 85 from heart disease after decades of cardiologists appointments and a lowered quality of life. A lot of the info is wrong because MDs can only tell you what has been approved by the FDA. Also test for MTHFR methylation gene mutation, which can cause elevated homocysteine levels.
As a nurse, if someone’s potassium is low, I always check their magnesium. Potassium will not stick without it, so typically I have to infuse magnesium prior to infusing potassium. These two electrolytes are so important when looking at the cardiovascular system. Beyond this, i use it once a week or so to get the best 😴
@@lunchmoneyog , you are correct that blood serum test for Mg is not reliable test simply because of the fact that only 1% of the Mg circulates in the blood stream for the purpose of heart needs. Epsom salt is definitely a great soil additive when growing leafy plants. I think you could grow many plants with only manure, some peat moss and sand, with molasses, egg shells and Epsom salts as your only fertilizer.

Magnesium comes from the ground, much of the food we are getting has been grown in warehouses (vertical farming). They put nutrients to make the plants grow, like phosphorous but not all the minerals we used to get from soil. Even plants grown in the ground are in deficient soil because practices in industrial farming don't feed the soil. Magnesium threonate reduced trigeminy heartbeats for me at night therefore reducing my anxiety from them.

Honestly magnesium oxide is awesome. I was losing electrolytes due to chronically losing fluids for 7 months. The problem people have with magnesium oxide is it supposedly is not water soluble enough. Well frankly, that sounds like a perfect reason for me to take it, since fluids are only going one way (out of my body as fast as possible). Plus it has more elemental magnesium than the other ones. It got rid of my muscle twitches. Magnesium citrate never did.
Increasing my Magnesium, and Potassium, has completely remedied my flaring scapula. I've had the flaring scapula since I was a kid. This means a lot to me. THANK YOU ERIC!
Thanks for all the informative content, I've been watching your videos for years now and never get bored. Your amazing and on a side note you have beautiful eyes!

this is a very informative breakdown of the different forms of Magnesium and which they're good for and which to avoid... I didn't know there were so many.
Our current way of planting only one type of grains or vegetables years after years depletes the soil of imported minerals we need for healthy life. Also, every 7th year, the land should be left unplanted and let it rest. This is a biblical way to make the land fruitful again

This is so helpful. I'm planning to start on magnesium. I get cold easily, lots of cramps after workout, extremely stressed out and tired. City life is not really helping me.
I just got out of the hospital for heart issues. I had a drip for magnesium, what they usually do I guess. It didn't work. My heart was racing non stop. The doctor asked what diet I was on and supplements I took, I said keto and I took Airborne and vitamins, I also took magnesium because I started getting leg cramps which I had often. They did a blood test and found I was very depleted in calcium. Apparently both keto and Airborne contributes to electrolyte imbalances, per this hospital doctor. I looked at the Airborne bottle when I got home, no calcium, but it had magnesium and Potassium. It's not balanced electrolytes. With medication, magnesium, Potassium and calcium, I returned to stable, with a few Tribbles, I will call them, (Pre-beats), and long pauses. I was told both are electrical misfiring in the heart. Continued same, without meds when I got home. Still pre-beats and pauses. I see an electro heart doc tomorrow. Balance magnesium with calcium. Potassium and sodium (sodium you probably get in your diet)
I just started taking a magnesium, D3, and K2 supplement. It seems to be making a difference. I bought spinach to add to my salads. I've been battling muscle pain, weakness, and sleep issues.
Dr. Eric Berg....I love you. I think it's fantastic you produced this video as Magnesium is a CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED element in the context of medicine/biology. I was waiting for someone to make something informative on Mg. The most common form of magnesium I run into at Walgreens/CVS is Magnesium Oxide which is unacceptable to me due to its poor bioavailability. I ALWAYS get Magnesium Citrate or Magnesium Glycinate!
For two years I have battled to stay on any calorie restricted diet and keto, as I would experience feelings in my chest and at night I would experience zapping feeling in my head. I had to keep eating carbs to stop this. Then I changed doctors and she told me to take magnesium. One month later I start the 800 calorie diet and no problems. Thank you magnesium. I am now on my way.
I'm pretty sure Magnesium deficiency(along with Vitamin D deficiency) is a factor that contributes to calcification of arteries and soft tissues(calcification being in turn a major factor in heart disease/heart attacks).
I’ve been having magnesium powder for almost 2 years now after a friend recommended it to me. I just checked and it’s the hydroxide. I feel my nails hair grows quicker. My bones and my body seems a lot stronger. I find it that it makes the body absorb more nutrients from my other foods. Probably one the best supplements I’ve had.
I think having regular meals of avocados, and leafy greens can supply us with a good amount of magnesium. However, Dr Berg electrolyetes powder contains magnesuim as well. Thanks Dr Berg 😊
Hi doc 👋 Re: MAG SULFATE aka EPSOM SALTS I've actually personally had positive experience with regular Epsom salt foot soaks... I actually feel results more quickly in a shorter period of time compared to taking an oral option... Thanks for your invaluable info / education as always!
Thank you so much for your videos, my health has improved tremendously! I have a question about magnesium: you mentioned the many different forms available (as supplements), but which or what kind of magnesium is found in dark green leaves, specifically in kale? Thanks.
You are very welcome. Do you want magnesium from food -- don't seek it in leafy greens -- seek it in seeds and beans, like white sesame seeds and black beans. Just one tablespoon of sesame seeds have 126 mg of magnesium 🙏🏿 Yes I know: Wow! If you decide to get a magnesium supplement, make sure in the "other ingredients" section, it does NOT have magnesium stearate -- magnesium stearate blocks all minerals from being absorbed...I don't care what anyone else says ☝🏿️🙏🏿
@@diogenes-apostleDoctor this is my first time taking magnesium and I can see it has stearate..can I finish it first then next time I will check before buying

There is a lot of switching of my sleep schedule, and since I've started taking magnesium glycinate it doesn't bother me at all. It's essential for my energy. (Also, I started cold water showers two days ago after watching Dr. Berg's video on it, and I feel great.)

I love how you remind me carbohydrates in every video is not good for us. I was a big fan of carbs but doing much better!! I thank you every day Dr Berg!!!!
The magnesium tablets i can bye are often a complex of two ore more versions of magnesium. If you could explain why some versions are not recommended, i could chose an overall better product
I have tried many. Forget oxide. Always read the ingredients. Many brands will use this to cut their better quality magnesium. It's a cheap filler + laxative. My favorite has become Magnesium Bisglycinate. It works great for me, 200mg day and 200mg before bed. Glycine has the added benefit of being able to cross the blood-brain barrier and is itself an inhibitor of the NMDA receptor. Magnesium Bisglycinate also minimizes laxative effects and decreases the risk of dehydration and abdominal discomfort, compared to forms of supplemental magnesium like magnesium carbonate, chloride, gluconate, and oxide. 👍
Dr. Berg,is correct in saying the importance of magnesium for your arteries, but I believe even more important to get proper blend of calcium, magnesium, zinc formula. If you start cherry picking individual minerals, you may hurt overall absorption and effectiveness your supplements.
Good Morning Dr. Berg, i have been using magnesium chloride since 2008 for herniated discs. First time i had a crisis it took me 6 months to be able to ride my bike again; the second crisia the next week i was riding my bike again.

Does anyone know what is wrong with the magnesium listed as not recommended by Dr Berg? Are they OK to use but not recommended because of some harmless side effects like heartburn, diarrhea etc
@@Godzy2011 based on my research of magnesium oxide only is that the absorption rate is quite low 20ish% meaning you're passing through 80% of the pill through your liver/kidneys which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Good morning! I totally understand this now. I have had multiple heart issues but every dr tells me to take magnesium oxide. I am not sure why but maybe they don't know the difference between the different magnesium supplements. I am taking mag ox now but I will be switching to a different type.

Our bodies burn magnesium when we're stressed as well and I think this is the biggest contributing factor to worldwide magnesium deficiency.
This statement makes absolute sense to me.
Yes and soil depletion
If the dark powers can keep us energy-depleted they can get more power over us. Just one of the things that mass stress can do.

Wonderful! Glad to help!
Dear Dr. Berg thank you for choosing great, helpful and practical topics.
Thanks for all the informative content, I've been watching your videos for years now and never get bored. Your amazing and on a side note you have beautiful eyes!
One of my all time favourites, took citrate and really helped with depression episodes decades ago. Now I usually obtain through the copious amounts of greens I’m shovelling in. 😂 Again, thank you Doc for all of your kind help.
What’s your dosage for citrate that helped with depression?
@@Khaliando hey! I think at the time (20plus years ago) I used around 250-300mg, I have since studied nutrition and understand dosages much better but found that 300mg worked and actually still works for me.
@@Cosima909 thank you very much
@Cosima I thank you as well. I have battled depression all of my life. I have been taking magnesium for Fibromyalgia. I know now that I have been taking the wrong type and not enough.
@@aaroncummings970 I have fibro. Have had tremendous success with Low Dose Naltrexone and Myofascial release physiotherapy.
This is the concise hard-hitting magnesium video we need to see. You hit this one out of the park! Thank you Dr. Berg!!
Yes it's brilliant. Only thing is that I have just found out that I am using an oxide version which Dr Berg does not recommend.
My daughter would get migraines and severe anxiety. After a lot of research I decided to give her liquid magnesium in her beverages. It wasn't very long before it fixed both problems!! This was a decade ago!!
Has she always had migraines or was this something of a recent occurrence?
I am 58, always worked hard and always get cramps at night.I have always eaten heathy, I haven’t had fast foods in 20 years., I have tried lots of magnesium but about 10 years ago I came across Mag Phos tissue salts, I can have a super cramp and I chew about 6 of these ( bit smaller than a “tic tac “ ) and it is gone in 2-5 minutes.

this is a very informative breakdown of the different forms of Magnesium and which they're good for and which to avoid... I didn't know there were so many.
You're the only reason I open RUclips. Your videos are helping me everyday. I have learned a lot from you.
Our current way of planting only one type of grains or vegetables years after years depletes the soil of imported minerals we need for healthy life. Also, every 7th year, the land should be left unplanted and let it rest. This is a biblical way to make the land fruitful again
Epsom salt can be taken by mouth as a magnesium supplement or as a laxative. Most brands recommend taking 2-6 teaspoons (10-30 grams) per day, dissolved in water, as a maximum for adults. Approximately 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 grams) is generally enough for children.
Keep your videos coming love them from Australia thanks man happy new year to everybody and dont drink and drive
This is so helpful. I'm planning to start on magnesium. I get cold easily, lots of cramps after workout, extremely stressed out and tired. City life is not really helping me.
I am not Down With everything the FDA recommends regarding nutrition.
I take Magnesium Glycinate to help with my right sided spasticity after my stroke event last year. Works great 🙋🏽♀️
I just started taking a magnesium, D3, and K2 supplement. It seems to be making a difference. I bought spinach to add to my salads. I've been battling muscle pain, weakness, and sleep issues.
Thankful for the wisdoms you share and keeping us healthy...
I take bath with epson salts every night. Also baking soda. At least 40 to 1hr. It’s seams to help being tired and pain
💯💯💯
I'm a witness to it, I can feel a big difference in my body after consuming magnesium! 👍

Wow That was my question, I really needed that. Thank you.
Most welcome.
I think having regular meals of avocados, and leafy greens can supply us with a good amount of magnesium. However, Dr Berg electrolyetes powder contains magnesuim as well. Thanks Dr Berg 😊
Hi doc 👋
Re: MAG SULFATE aka EPSOM SALTS
I've actually personally had positive experience with regular Epsom salt foot soaks...
Thanks.
@@Diogenes-II Thanks for the info!
Thank you so much again.

Magnesium Is literally Involved in Hundreds of Biochemical Reactions in our Body. Magnesium also helps create and repair DNA and RNA and it's an important nutrient that our body needs for gene maintenance.
I gave up casein protein at night before bed.. So, I needed a new recovery for workouts and behold the power of Mag.. i take it right at midnight works best for me and I wake fully recovered after a good workout.. I take 400 mg..
I know from experience that when I get frequent eyelid twitches that I need to up my magnesium.
I use a drink called “calm” it helps me so fast when I feel an anxious heart
Awesome. Thank you! I knew I needed more in my diet, but I've apparently chosen the wrong type of supplement. Will adjust accordingly!

I work shift work in satellite control. 12 hour days, sometimes six days a week, both night and day shifts. There is a lot of switching of my sleep schedule, and since I've started taking magnesium glycinate it doesn't bother me at all. It's essential for my energy.
(Also, I started cold water showers two days ago after watching Dr. Berg's video on it, and I feel great.)
Been there. Hang in there.
@@JFerguson777 Thanks buddy. It's really not as bad as it sounds though. Cushy job, just long hours.

I’ve taken Mag Lactate for over a decade for arrhythmia, it’s kept me stable enough that I’ve avoided ablation, yet I never hear anyone speak about Lactate. Just curious if Dr Berg has an opinion about Magnesium Lactate?
What matters is that it helps you .
First time i had a crisis it took me 6 months to be able to ride my bike again; the second crisia the next week i was riding my bike again.
great video.. love the specific descriptions of the various supplement forms!
thanjs you
Magnesium glycinate is the best for overall benefits. Especially before bed. Start with 100mg to 200mg and see how you feel.
Thank you! I have an arrhythmia, so my ears perk up when I find information about heat health!
Thank you, Dr. Berg. I have all or most of these symptoms and need all of what you have suggested. 👍👍👍👍👍
Your voice is sooooo calming 😌 ✨️ 💕
Magnesium is one of the top four supplements noted by Dr. Thomas Levy. Levy also recommends Live On liposomal magnesium. (Dr. Levy is a big advocate for doctors to use intravenous magnesium and intravenous vitamin c when appropriate.)
Thanks doctor I went and took a magnesium pill while watching this
FDA cannot conclude the benefits of Magnesium, but experimental shots are approved. Makes complete sense.
AWESOME, I CONTINUE TO GLEEN WISDOM AND NEEDED INFO TO PROMOTE BETTER HEALTH. THANKYOU SOOOO MUCH
Recently stumbled on your old video discussing different types of magnesium. I realized I had been supplementing magnesium oxide the whole time... immediately switched to magnesium glycinate

Magnesiums to avoid : magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide ,magnesium carbonate, magnesium sulphate
My "doctor" ordered me to take D3 and after learning that it depletes magnesium I decided to take magnesium glycinate and she's all freaked out about it even though I'm sleeping better, my heart isn't skipping a beat and I'm even more regular. AND my BP is more easily regulated with meds.
I passed info on magnesium to my diabetic friend and after taking it only for few days his pains in legs have disappeared.

How to get magnesium
Just tell us which one bro. No need to tell all of them. Maybe just which one would be best for majority. Thanks for your work
Good morning! I totally understand this now. I have had multiple heart issues but every dr tells me to take magnesium oxide. I am not sure why but maybe they don't know the difference between the different magnesium supplements. I am taking mag ox now but I will be switching to a different type.
I took magnesium oxide too for irregular heart beat but it was not making a big impact. I switched to magnesium citrate and it was much better.
Practically informative. Thank you very much, Doc
Does it make sense to combine l-threonate and other magnesia?
It's super costly
I by Dr. Jockers “brain calm magnesium” it combines a couple different ones. It’s not cheap though.
I tried Magnesium l-threonate for a year, not worth the claim.
