@@sludge8506 NAH , It's a Ford! Fantastic! You can't kill an old Ford truck, l know l was a truck mechanic and body repair man for over 34 years at New car and truck Dealerships. We didn't make much money on Ford trucks, but Chevy , oh yeah, cause they broke down so much. On the average 7 chevy trucks would be in shop for every 1 Ford truck. But to be honest, these last few years l don't think the Ford truck is the same tough animal. Back in the early 60s l was working in a very big farm in S. California loading trailers for the Appodaca Ranch in the Coachella valley. Sometimes the tractors couldn't keep up with the loaded trailers, owners of pickups would be asked to help pull the loaded trailers (about 7 thousand lbs. Incl. trailer) from the field to packing warehouse thru the loose rows of sand and dirt , we the loaders would sit back and have fun seeing which pickup could haul out and which couldn't. Sometimes we would even place bets. All of the Fords, Internationals, most of the Dodges could pull the trailers out of the field and on down the road to the packery. Sorry to say but alot of the chevy trucks couldn't, some broke axles, driveshafts, burnt clutches, and other stuff. The only GM truck that kept working without breaking down was a 59 GMC, it had a 6 cyl motor, with three on the tree!!! The owner said it was really a 3/4 ton truck. Also he said the reason his truck pulled well on loose dirt and sand was because his 59 GMC had 3/4 ton leaf springs instead of the rear coil springs the other GM had. There were no Toyotas, Nissans trucks at that time. 3:20 Bronson really liked that move... it is also in Yukon, where he kicks open the door of his cabin lying on the back. Following that movie, I had successfully applied that when I realised one of my housemates wanted to ambush me by my door with a squirt gun: he ripped the door open and shot in to the room - and I totally got him lying on the floor on my back behind the door :)
They used Fords so often in run of the mill movie car chases back then because Fords stayed together better during the rough stuff. You don't see many GM cars in chases back then. They are almost always Fords and Chryslers. The French Connection car chase and Smokey and the Bandit are the few exceptions I can think of.
Dodge power wagon trucks were really strong back then. I really liked the old leaf suspension on these trucks They didn't give you a comfortable ride but they could take a beating. .
Lol...no car and nobody is as tough as Hollywood depicts. Vehicles in movies laugh off a beating that in real life would disable the vehicle instantly, but they also blow up in a 10 mph crash that in real life cars drive away from barely damaged ahh....the irony of movies :D
I really think they only used 1 truck in this. I cant spot ANY differences in scenes besides the headlight switching sides, which, eh whatever. But usually, spicially in fast paced type chase scenes theres SOME difference you can tell between the vehicles. But that old 67/68 Ford seemed to have taken the entire beating by itself.
The damaged headlight not only switched sides, (from left to right), the truck also miraculously repaired itself a few times during the chase. Yes, some if this comes from scenes being shot out of order of where they ended up in the movie, but Im sure they used more than one truck. Even if they managed it all with one truck, obviously it was repaired after each big jump. All you people thinking it just kept going are delusional.
If you have a 2wd straight six f100 there is no hill you can't jump , no trail you can't run , no corner you can't drift & no motorist you can't murder and you don't even have change gears once.
I had a 1972 F100 and it took a beating; but if i would have drove it like that it probably would have lasted 16 minutes or i would have been DEAD! really because years ago i did take a jump like that (one in the movie with Charles Bronson) is when i hit the bottom of the jump (in a 1960 F100) i bounced off the seat 3X hitting my head on the roof top 2x and it hurt i didnot want that jump ever again. I heard long ago a stunt man that made one of those big jumps died in that pickup truck. I wonder how many of those pickup trucks they totaled out? It's a real shame too because these great old movies total out many antique collector cars and trucks. Got love that old F100's had many of them, and bought them even if they were just sitting in a old abandoned prune orchard.
A 1960 didn’t have the twin I-beam suspension (introduced in the 1965 model trucks). Not sure how much difference that would have made, but this video highlights that suspension, albeit exaggerating it’s capabilities a bit. I can’t imagine how much bouncing around in these trucks would hurt though. No way I’m trying in my 70!

At least two trucks. The first scene and the last scene trucks have a fuel filler cap behind the drivers door. The truck in the chase sequence has only a fuel tank in the bed with a filler cap on the passenger side, the place where the stock filler cap would be has a plate or patch mounted on the inside of the body.
I can tell they used at least 3 different trucks to shoot this. If you look at some of the details such as the front wheels & tires as well as the broken headlights you can tell.

Great scene, but the two trucks are 1968's, not 1969's. Fairly subtle difference on the steel grills, but the lack of reflectors under the taillights is a dead give away.
Did you notice when the car flipped over the piece of the telephone pole was ejected from the bottom of the trunk to make the car flip that's where they used to do it in the good old days

I remember reading a Hot Rod magazine a long time ago. It was about movie cars and how many they used during filming. I'm sure they said they only used one Ford truck in Mr. Majestic. In Bullit they bought 2 chargers but only needed one. But they went through 6 to 8 mustangs. They said everytime the mustang jumped a hill the shock towers collapsed.
i can remember reading in a car magazine about how the mustangs were sent to a shop before the filming started to have some upgrades similar to the monte carlo bar and export brace (used on Shelby mustangs) to beef-up and triangulate the shock towers with the cowl seam at the top of the firewall. story was only three mustangs were used in the film. the least damaged escaped the crusher and is owned by somone in the U.S. Steve McQueen tried more than once to buy it ,but he wasn't successful. one of the others was crushed and the other one supposedly also escaped the crusher and turned up neglected somewhere in mexico.
Bob White ... A few weeks ago, one of the guys I work with went to Las Vegas for a big show. He showed me pictures of an authenticated Bullitt Mustang. It's in unrestored, but well preserved condition.
@@JW...-oj5iw very interesting. the family that own's one, that wasn't interested in selling to McQueen, has supposedly shown it around the country or loaned it to a museum? maybe that's it. or the one from mexico? the magazine article i read years ago showed a photo of the custom shock tower bracing to the best of my recollection. however, it's possible only the mustangs used for stunt scenes had the shock tower mods and the one(s) used for normal scenes didn't.

Yes they can, this ancient artifact will fall apart following a Raptor on a Baja race...
Neither would this one
@ljmorris6496 Raptor is a different animal. This is a plain f100 work truck baja was designed for ofroad racing
@@RedRider763they used only one truck for this scene.
Just bought a '67 twin i-beam truck, it honestly looks like it will last forever!!!
When I get an F-100, I'm gonna paint Majestyk Brand Melons on the door
Went on a ride like this in a 75 f150 highboy
Still have it

I remembered Ford used this movie clip for one of the Ford Built tuff commercials back in the 70s
"Daddy my hat flew off!" @ 3:33.
Cody Haviland lmao
Smokey and the Bandit. "Shut up Junior! You little tick turd."
I hope your dam head was in it.
if this was real his head would still have been in the hat
Shut yo Ass🤣
69' Ford F 150 like a Ford 17' Raptor 👍
Mario Pérez The F150 did not come out untill 1975 that is a 1968 F100.
Except it can actually haul shit
3:20 Bronson really liked that move... it is also in Yukon, where he kicks open the door of his cabin lying on the back. Following that movie, I had successfully applied that when I realised one of my housemates wanted to ambush me by my door with a squirt gun: he ripped the door open and shot in to the room - and I totally got him lying on the floor on my back behind the door :)
You talking about Death Hunt - great movie based on true story with Lee Marvin and very hot Angie Dickenson.
I really liked the old leaf suspension on these trucks They didn't give you a comfortable ride but they could take a beating. .
scdevon ... The Seven Ups
Back when cars were built like trucks and trucks were built like tanks
@@twoeightythreez Actually they only used one truck in that movie and kept that same truck working at the studio for years after.
A third grader could see that there are at least two different trucks. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Linda Cristal where are you babe!
Real stunts, done by real people! And my ^ss said 'ouch' all the way!
Another good pick up jumping is the Power wagon from Simon and Simon and the GMC from Fall Guy.
THE BEST CAR CHASES IN MOVIE HISTORY! 😎😎😎
Move over KITT & General Lee & let a master show you how it's done.
Yeah it was uncle Jesse's truck all along!
I noticed the damaged headlight switches sides.
If you have a 2wd straight six f100 there is no hill you can't jump , no trail you can't run , no corner you can't drift & no motorist you can't murder and you don't even have change gears once.
Truck probably had 352 or 360
Donny Bra if you listen hard you can tell it’s a straight 6
When he makes it lug it sounds like a i6 wot sounds good like a 8
don't laugh, these older trucks were well built, I remember the old Dodge Power Wagons, they were really strong too my best friend had one.
BustedWalletGarage it has a 304 V8 because that was the stock motor for the majority of the f100's (if I'm not mistaken)
"ain't no way he can get out" Dude just runs out and jumps in a truck. "well sh*t, we didn't think of that"...
I just saw the movie on the CHARGE! Network. Last line: Hey lieutenant. You were right, he really was trying to kill me.

Mike Henry they're practically the same truck
R I P Charles Bronson as Majestyk to Al letterei as the Villianous Renda .Fab movie from 1974 ,Death Wish premiered also with Charlie Bronson as Paul Kersey .
Driving instructional video for Game and Fish vehicles. How to drive in the desert:
First time I looked at that in decades. There's at least two F-100s used to make it last. Deep wheels, stock wheels, black & a blue steering wheel.
this is a great movie
Charlie B was one bad dude!!!! And his lady friend had the skills!!! Cool channel!

Its built Ford Tough!.
3:40 - you can see the charge they used to make sure the car flipped - and the white smoke from the hole in the floorboard.
A great pick up truck😃😃
Trucks, champ, trucks.
twin i beam !!
Ford used the movie scenes in truck commercial but had to stop as hicks were flying trucks and claiming warranty on the damaged trucks.
Some people 🤣🤣
Those tunnels are in cañon City Colorado. It's called tunnel drive. Walked them so many times
great edit, made me laffs
we used to take f250 1968 2wd around mx track wide open. Tie battery down good. Fuel tank in cab deadly though lost friends from fire.
I can tell they used at least 3 different trucks to shoot this. If you look at some of the details such as the front wheels & tires as well as the broken headlights you can tell.
did you notice the steering wheel color change ?
but for real
this scene would've taken 13 Hondas just to jump into the corn field.

IN A FORD COMMERCIAL THEY SAID IT WAS A 1968 / NOT A 1069 / HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH IT'S A 1969 ?
A new ford would popped the airbags. You’d need a raptor to do that today.
This is the reason why there is hardly any of those old ford trucks left. Just about everyone treated them this way lol

this whole movie took only one.

Aaron Tannas all that I know is that I come from a family of old ford and squarebody Chevy killers. My dad has scrapped about 9 old fords because he beat them and drove them to death.
Charlie was born in 1921 I never realized during the heyday in the seventies of his action films he was in his fifties when he was doing those things I thought it was only in his early forties
I thought he was early 80s, now I have to watch every movie now. He once drove my car in a movie 😁
What kind of suspension that thing got? Twin pogo sticks
That truck is like a Prerunner.
Lovely movie! They don't televise them anymore they keep on showing, Rambo, Rocky, Die hard , Terminator, saga over and over again.

Lmfao I can't imagine being in the bed of that truck during those jumps
You said it, I mean what the hell was he holding onto? I was waiting to see him come flying out the back but he hung on (to something??)
My favorite Bronson movie.
A third grader could see that there are at least two different trucks in this.
Now that’s a fuckin truck
Does the truck bed come equipped with seatbelts or something?

3:40 Look for the smoke from the charge that helped flip the car. Shazaam!
Did anybody notice the change of steering wheels on the truck in the Chase?
V-8 performance all the way till chuck takes the wheel, sounds like a six banger upon startup.
Basically, the hot chick got the 8 cylinder, and chuckles got the 6.
It's a 1968 Ford F100 don't argue with me I've seen the movie and own 68 F100
