My Primered 55 got me a lot of tickets. Once a switched to a white 67 ElCo..I never had another ticket in my life.I drove the same as I did in the 55.This was back in 77
Im a Greaser and love this movie. I rented in from the local library and it came with the Script in paper form along with editor notes. I had a 55 bel air in 63/64. Good times.
What Easy Rider did for Harleys, 2-Lane Blacktop did for American heavy metal, the meditative siren song of the road in a car with soul. I caught this for the first time on tv when I was in hs... every penny's gone into American V8s ever since. *Kick-ass* editing job on this, man.
Fantastic editing on this, thanks for making it. I think this film is culturally and historically important. Also, it really isn't a "car movie", but rather a philosophical narrative wrapped around the road and traveling - much like Vanishing Point (which came out the same year)
I remember watching this movie in a Drive-in when I was a kid. It was part of a DOUBLE FEATURE. I thought the guys were weird because they didn't seem to talk to, or even like each other.
Exactly the 55 is the best, 55 56 57 without the front bumpers makes it look more aggressive, and we would block the front spring to lift the front in slightly, and prime worked as well.....
I don't know how many people believe you when you say "You know James Taylor and one of the Beach Boys made a movie where they drive a car and don't sing!"
Where you headed? - Amarillo - Well, you're in luck. -Thank God Almighty, mister.....- She's got a hard pull, doesn't she? Zero to 60 in 7.5. She'll do a quarter of a mile, 13.40. Performance and image that's what it's all about. -It's a mighty fancy automobile- I bought her in Bakersfield, California. I was testing jets at the time. It got so I wasn't getting enough action on the ground. You know what I mean. I mean, you just can't stay with the same high forever. So, when the 455 came out with a Mark IV ram air and a beefed blower in... a Carter high-riser setup, I was on line. 390 horsepower. 500 foot pounds of torque... whatever that is... It's all in the folder right there in the glove compartment, if you wanna take a look at it. Oh, she's a real road king, all right. -How come you ain't still in Bakersfield?- Because I'm in the Southwest. What kind of sounds you like? - Beg pardon?- Rock? Soul? Hillbilly? Western What's your taste? - It don't hardly matter to me-
I've been watching your channel off and on for a year or so, and I love it! Thanks for all the great chase scenes. This one is the best (maybe I'm biased?) of them all! Superbly edited, with great attention to important details and highlights of the movie, it's a great clip to watch. Those '55 Chevies built for the movies were all truly fast street cars. The L88/M22 car was equipped with a '59 Olds 4.88:1 rear end, turning low 10 second ET's at nearly 120 MPH at the strip. The "Camera Car" had an LS6/M22 with a '59 Olds 4.88:1 rear end. The so-called stunt car had rear only steering brakes with a Turbo 400 trans. Thanks again, truly Two Lane Blacktop 2.0!
Thanks. I wanted to include more of GTO's bullshit storytelling, but most of his scenes had music blaring throughout them, which made them impossible to use.
The GTO is a real judge with the 455 HO not the RA III 400 seen the car at a Pontiac convention in Charleston WV in the late 90s the car was documented as the driver from 2 lane blacktop it was completely original down to the fresh air induction system if you can stop the video on 3:00 you can see the induction system Was your GTO a judge ?I had a 69 GTO RA III 400 4 speed (not a judge) the car was scary fast I believe the RA III made more power than advertised I don't know about the 70 model but my 69 had a vacuum switch under the dash to open the scoops did the 70 models have a cable or a vacuum system ?I'm sure the 70 like the 69 RA IIIs had the cast iron headers my also had the rare transistorized ignition(not very reliable) I replaced it with regular points wish I would've kept the transistor system it's worth big money now
Nobody gets it. He's the ice cool driver. A man of few words. Strong and silent. Can drive all night if necessary. But... Dennis gets the girl, and James gets a discussion about cicadas and a quick peck on the cheek. Typical Pisces.
Most of you old time gear heads know this...but if you don't, then here's some hot rod trivia. "Big Willie" Robinson, one of the cofounders of the The International Brotherhood of Street racers in LA is the guy that starts the flashlight drag race in the opening scene. He was known for he and his wifes "King and Queen" Daytona Charger drag cars. Dodge just announced a tribute car in the 2023 Dodge Charger Daytona Hellcat.
..and so did the Beach Boy, Dennis Wilson. He drowned in 1983, Marina Del Rey after checking out of rehab and binge drinking...makes it even more special to watch because they were probably still peaking when this was made...
I think they went the way of these awesome cars.they somehow got aged out. I mean try to picture the awful remake of this movie: the gto becomes a hellcat driven by Kevin spacey.and the 55 becomes an 88 primered mustang driven by the jonas brothers....or worse
I couldn't use it because the music was so loud underneath the line. It was the same problem with most of GTO's story-telling. He always had his tape deck blaring in his car.
Lol Warren Oates was ONE of my all-time underrated actor's EVER since I seen him in the Wild bunch n Dillinger n Race with the Devil with Peter FONDA was n awesome movie 1975 I believe GREAT stunt s I'm n old Classic Movie junkie
1Bandit455 N he Oates was awesome in this his character stole the movie with the comedy relif Classic I miss these old car movie s the the Steve Maqueen n HB Halicki day's, now all we have is the Bullshit fast n the furious which I tot part 1 was good but now there just out of control unrealistic CGI

Lone wolf Mcquade Oh hell, Race With the Devil freaked me out as a kid! Still love it though! The 70s were some great years for films. Dirty Mary Crazy Larry is another favourite of mine :)
great movies since Denny Wilson was a true gear head ( though why P.Floyd ? ) should left it as is right folks D mason drives like a yuppie folks lol \m/
Neither James Taylor nor Dennis Wilson had any acting experience. The director of the movie didn’t want professional actors as he was trying to create something raw. The movie was never about the actors but about the cars and the experience of the journey. The “actors” didn’t even get the entire script. They were usually given the page/pages for the scene they were shooting on that day.
"Make it 3 yards mother fucker and we'll have an automobile race". Best quote of the movie!!!
Facts!
Best movie quote ever.
@@RepublicanClooneyAnd most people think that was Brian Wilson, lol.
Wish the whole exchange was in the clip.
That 70 GTO is a work of art, that's one of the best designs ever made.
She's a real road king....
70's or 60's seems like the perfect time to travel to watching this.
My Primered 55 got me a lot of tickets. Once a switched to a white 67 ElCo..I never had another ticket in my life.I drove the same as I did in the 55.This was back in 77
That looks like such a cool movie- I’ll have to watch it sometime
You Get around to watching it yet?... Me? Looks like i'll try to soon too.
Great montage. The whole movie in six and a half minutes with a kicking soundtrack. Kudos.
You captured the soul of this movie and brought it bang up to date… we’ll done I love it …
Two lane black top is one of my all time favorites.
Same , and King of the mountain also
Im a Greaser and love this movie. I rented in from the local library and it came with the Script in paper form along with editor notes. I had a 55 bel air in 63/64. Good times.
Don Berry same here man found it at the library they got the gems
i need a 55 . I got a 32 t bucket i would trade for the right one.
I loved this movie I own it, I believe I heard before that this 55 was the same Harrison Ford Drove in American Graffiti
It was
"I don't see anyone paying attention to my rear end" LOL
And five seconds later, GTO checks out her rear end!
Best line in the movie.
My Exs rear end was like a Dana 60! I told her and she looked confused. My current G/F is more like Chrysler 7.25"
"You can Never go fast enough"!!! 👍😉
Great pink floyd tune
Fantastic editing on this, thanks for making it.
I think this film is culturally and historically important. Also, it really isn't a "car movie", but rather a philosophical narrative wrapped around the road and traveling - much like Vanishing Point (which came out the same year)
bitches are still the same
Also, it was driven on Route 66 and after the movie 🎦 was released they started to construct an Interstate highway and completed in 1973
I remember watching this movie in a Drive-in when I was a kid. It was part of a DOUBLE FEATURE. I thought the guys were weird because they didn't seem to talk to, or even like each other.
55 Chevy look so good with out the bumper n Slick's in the back 55 Chevy was my favorite car in the 50s second be the 50 Mercury
And radiused rear wheel well openings...
Exactly the 55 is the best, 55 56 57 without the front bumpers makes it look more aggressive, and we would block the front spring to lift the front in slightly, and prime worked as well.....
You nailed this man.respect.
YOU CAN NEVER GO FAST ENOUGH!
I'm in love with that 70 goat.
I don't know how many people believe you when you say "You know James Taylor and one of the Beach Boys made a movie where they drive a car and don't sing!"
They actually did a good job.
... and it was Esquire magazines "Movie of the Year" nominee for 1971
Beach boy
Dennis Wilson
Great edit and summary! Well done!
Wow!The 55 Chevy (rust oxide/primer brown), this was my fiance’s car!His “Foxy Lady”!
Where you headed?
- Amarillo -
Well, you're in luck.
-Thank God Almighty, mister.....-
She's got a hard pull, doesn't she?
Zero to 60 in 7.5.
She'll do a quarter of a mile, 13.40.
Performance and image
that's what it's all about.
-It's a mighty fancy automobile-
I bought her in Bakersfield, California.
I was testing jets at the time.
It got so I wasn't getting enough action
on the ground. You know what I mean.
I mean, you just can't stay
with the same high forever.
So, when the 455 came out with
a Mark IV ram air and a beefed blower in...
a Carter high-riser setup,
I was on line.
390 horsepower.
500 foot pounds of torque...
whatever that is...
It's all in the folder right there in the glove
compartment, if you wanna take a look at it.
Oh, she's a real road king, all right.
-How come you ain't
still in Bakersfield?-
Because I'm in the Southwest.
What kind of sounds you like?
- Beg pardon?-
Rock? Soul? Hillbilly?
Western
What's your taste?
- It don't hardly matter to me-
Love this movies The way they travel cross country , . I think when Jackson says "you can never go FAST enough" is my favorite
" Carful With That Axe Jim . "
I've been watching your channel off and on for a year or so, and I love it! Thanks for all the great chase scenes. This one is the best (maybe I'm biased?) of them all! Used to have a '70 Goat--Ram AIr III, Orbit Orange, just like this one.
The GTO is a real judge with the 455 HO not the RA III 400 seen the car at a Pontiac convention in Charleston WV in the late 90s the car was documented as the driver from 2 lane blacktop it was completely original down to the fresh air induction system if you can stop the video on 3:00 you can see the induction system Was your GTO a judge ?I had a 69 GTO RA III 400 4 speed (not a judge) the car was scary fast I believe the RA III made more power than advertised
I don't know about the 70 model but my 69 had a vacuum switch under the dash to open the scoops did the 70 models have a cable or a vacuum system ?I'm sure the 70 like the 69 RA IIIs had the cast iron headers my also had the rare transistorized ignition(not very reliable) I replaced it with regular points wish I would've kept the transistor system it's worth big money now
Billy Bob I had a 70 GTO and cloned it into a Lemans.
Truth Triggers , that orbit orange was a very limited color option
Wow, that takes me back, good times baby. Pink Floyd makes it better. WFO
1-of these days...love that song....
The man said, " Make it 3 yards mutherfucker and you got a automobile race,
Awesome cut man I watched this a long long time ago the Floyd song just says speed fuckn bad ass together
This 55 Chevy is 👌
Thanks for the clip!
Top 10 All-time!
I was going to do a video on this movie but I don't know how to stop it from being a lifelong series of podcasts 😂😂
Very nice.
love the pink floyd!!!, song is called one of theses days!
As an actor, James Taylor was a great singer.
I was watching this once and my sister came in and asked: "Is James Taylor supposed to be a serial killer or something?"
Nobody gets it. He's the ice cool driver. A man of few words.
Strong and silent. Can drive all night if necessary.
But... Dennis gets the girl, and James gets a discussion about cicadas and a quick peck on the cheek.
Typical Pisces.
love it!!
Love it: Pink Floyd / Two Lane Black
Best tribute ever!

That’s Awesome nuff love from UK
Glorifying illegal street racing is not big or clever. People should stick to the speed limit, or even drive 10% below as a rule.
Great film 🎥 so cool 😎 it herts
454 Chevy Big Block twin Carburettors 400 bhp easy all day ..
The one with L-88 427" is 560 HP @ 6600 RPMs...
Well done.
That 55 is THE car
Nice Job on the 2.0!
MAGNIFICO
good job thanks
Nice soundtrack
PINK FOR PINK'S... Brilliant CCW 92217
great flick
Deveria ter completo e dublado no you tube kķkk
Awesome movie well written except for the end
No it couldn’t end any other way
the only place I've heard "yard" used as slang besides the carnival.
Maybe it was The Driver, in his new gig.
Laurie Bird had a bright future but she lived in a dark place. She killed herself in 1979 in Art Garfunkel’s apt in New York.
..and so did the Beach Boy, Dennis Wilson. He drowned in 1983, Marina Del Rey after checking out of rehab and binge drinking...makes it even more special to watch because they were probably still peaking when this was made...
Didn't know it was his place, . On a different fact Warren Oates (GTO) played Sgt Hulka in Stripes.
Sweet 55 454 Chevrolet.
The one raced with L-88 427" is 560 HP @ 6600 RPMs...
The 55' could take the GTO in the 1/4, but no fucking way would it win on the open road.
But the 55 had a relief driver. GTO had to rely on picking up one fantasy after another.
dsnitris2007 LoL, not alot dialogue in that movie, but still a great quote.
Every hitchhiker he picked up seemed to be out of a fever dream.
The GTO would walk that shoe box in style, every mile. They should have put a 455 HO in that Judge. The 55 could carry
the tools.
It was good but who won in the ending
'Road Movies' whatever happened to those?
This edit is fantastic btw..
I think they went the way of these awesome cars.they somehow got aged out. I mean try to picture the awful remake of this movie: the gto becomes a hellcat driven by Kevin spacey.and the 55 becomes an 88 primered mustang driven by the jonas brothers....or worse
I need a carb kit for a Quadrajet 😂😂🤣🤣
Which one ? …
There’s 4,876.. no 87 different models.
considering that 55 had twin Hollys maybe it was for the GTO 😆
was not the cover scene in the Mississippi queen vid?
Laur Bird.
Was that a El Camino at the restaurant with the people riding in the back?
Yup.
JP NC yeah pre communism. Ha ha. Good times.
Don Berry 🤣🤣 got that right!
Looked like a 64 or maybe 65 el camino
JP NC that El Camino was an SS :454. I think it was like a 70 or 71 if you look close at the badge you can see it
two lane blacktop was the firs fast and furious
97👍🍺
Racing cross country with 4.88 gears. Ok.
You cut out the Best part for the GTO - Warren Oates ( 455 ) Just Color me Gone :)

Oh hell, Race With the Devil freaked me out as a kid! Still love it though! The 70s were some great years for films.
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry is another favourite of mine :)
Pink Floyd soundtrack?
Much easier to watch this way.lol
👌
same 55 Chevy as seen in American graffiti
This movie made James Taylor a BMF
Did anybody see the white Charger
And apparently it's a very rare Charger. White with a white hard-top.
great movies since Denny Wilson was a true gear head ( though why P.Floyd ? ) should left it as is right folks D mason drives like a yuppie folks lol \m/
Echos echos echos . 🤔
I’m drawn to good-drama
Didn't realize how cheezy the acting really was back then.
Watch the original "Walking Tall".🤣
two musicians attempting to act
The cars are the stars... the storylines always suck...
Neither James Taylor nor Dennis Wilson had any acting experience. The director of the movie didn’t want professional actors as he was trying to create something raw. The movie was never about the actors but about the cars and the experience of the journey. The “actors” didn’t even get the entire script. Anyone know what the cop car is?
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe.
The best worst movie ever
who came here because of Roadkill?
Lol I doubt very seriously James Taylor could even drive a clutch........lmao!
Glorifying illegal street racing is not big or clever. People should stick to the speed limit, or even drive 10% below as a rule.
THis sure beats the original.....This moves fast and has no slow moments!
RACE what you brung ?
lose the music.
Meh..........tunes dont match
