seasons 3 and 4 are best , as they added James Darren and Heather Locklear to main cast, plus they replaced those old Monaco with newer St. Regis a much cooler car
My brother had 78 gold one. I had an ‘80 firebird. Both with T-tops. What fun times they were. Summer days at the beach. Nights cruising around. My youth was filled with many fun times.
You’ve got love the cheesiness of the 1980s cop shows. Right at 2:15 seconds while responding to a robbery call with lights, sirens, etc. TJ hookers apprentice is getting passed in the right lane by a car doing 25. All the girls in jeans looked fantastic on that show. The 80s were so much better.
And Kirk got demoted from a Starship captain to being a cop in a depressing malaise era 70s Dodge! But somehow it strangely made him actually look younger then he did in outer space
@7x779 I would have payed good money to see him chase down Mr. Roarke in a Chrysler Cordoba with Corinthian leather! KHHAAANNNN!.....Your fantasy is over, Admiral!
The 1979 Trans Am came with the WS6 handling package and was accurately carving up those curves at speed. The Dodge Monaco, even with a police pursuit package, would have suffered from severe understeer at speed, just like what happened here.
yeah that was something I instantly thought was unrealistic, how many criminals in real life would use that distinctive looking a vehicle for their getaway?
Well it depends on weather u car someone knows the color of the car if u get away and ditch car no cuz while dumb Piggys search the bright yellow car u ditched it's a win your gone
lots of great oldschool car chases in this show, this one no exception - that 2nd gen Trans Am with the screaming chicken hood is one gorgeous vehicle and it's interesting to see it pitted against a '77 Dodge Monaco since I recognise that exact model from the big car chase in "Terminator"
You know what I wish? I wish car makers could reissue classic cars the same way clothes brands and food companies re-release popular favourites. Because gen 2 Firebirds are gorgeous.
Those power towers in the background across the street from the market reminded me of the ones along the 210 freeway between Sylmar and Lake View Terrace and a quick Google search did find a Phils Food Queen in the area along with a few other stores. I'm guessing it was on Foothill Bl. but, most likely most of the buildings have been replaced.
I never really gave this show a shot. I really wasn’t keen on how Shatner played his character. It was kind of cheesy maybe made to be funny but not a funny show. But good bless him because he acted in more shows and movies than I ever have. Plus he was Kirk!
So that '79 Trans Am was probably all of what 150 hp? At least the '77 Dodge had a 440 engine, cop tires, cop suspension, etc. Well, at least in theory. The prop cop car was probably a former rental with a Slant Six.
I was going to mention that. The 403 Olds was a real turd. That was the period of multiple divisions using each others engines. My neighbor had a garage then and called them 'cross breed bastards'.
That was pretty much what people saw when I drove up in my 80 Trans Am. Never ever did I get free drinks and a "we made it by accident" or "just take it!" from girls at the drive thru except when I was in that car, one just all out stating "OMG that is beautiful!" Having a bad day? Doesn't matter, someone was going to come up to me at the station pumping gas and telling me their story about owning one back in the day, as well. I never got such reactions to any other "enthusiast" car I've owned.
Freeze! I'm Shariff Officer T.J. Hooker and this is my Partner McMillan and Wife. Thanks Family Guy because that's been living in my head rent-free for years 😂
I had a 79 Firebird with a 400ci, it has a 80 model Turbo trans-am hood, really sharp car was fire engine red with black rear spoiler and deep disc Crager SS's. I also had an 80 model Firebird with a 455ci. I like the 79 best though could boil the tires right off, but the 455ci was all top end muscle
I love LA. The only city where in as little as a few blocks you go from a commercial district, through a residential neighborhood and end on a coastal highway.
Funny, at 2:13 in the video they are accelerating and going into pursuit, but behind them is a Datsun economy car approaching from the rear! It's notable that they had go to clips for driving seens but this had me chuckling.
A very long time ago I saw a video here on RUclips I think is no longer up but it was a chase scene from a movie I dont remember the name of where sheriff’s deputies in what i think were 74 dodge Monaco’s Painted yellow just like that fire bird in this video. All i remember they ended up chasing the car into a demolition derby. Would anyone by chance know what movie I’m talking about.
I had three 1979 Pontiac TA's in the 90's and my father had one with the 400 engine and sunroof. My 3 had the Olds 403 with T Tops. I had 1 special edition with rear wheel disc brakes. One of them was a federal car with no factory AC or Smog pump. Im the 90's you could get a running TA for $500😢😢😢
HollyWood writers have absolutely zero knowledge of cars. Hooker is under the Firebird with a pipe. What is he doing with a pipe. At least give him a ratchet.
Gotta get that clip of the bank robbers boss mustang with the roll cage and torsion bars he rolls off the side of the highway to test it. Also there is a corvette turbo in this show that's pretty cool.
I like at the beginning when they have already started the chase they are getting passed, by an AMX, then the whole chase neither one of the cops has a seatbelt on, seems smart.
Why you never see these Chrysler products on the road anymore. It almost felt like even then they were highly unpopular for civilian use. I have been in one that was a taxi and remember seeing them as a fleet vehicle, but rarely in a driveway. They were pretty dumpy and nondescript vehicles.
"This is a stick up!"
I miss the 70's😂😂😂😂😂

This was actually the '80s.
I bought T.J. Hooker on DVD from the Walmart cheap bin. I was surprised at how good/ entertaining of a show it was. 👍
seasons 3 and 4 are best , as they added James Darren and Heather Locklear to main cast, plus they replaced those old Monaco with newer St. Regis a much cooler car
I actually prefer older shows. Way older than I am. I just enjoy the nostalgia of everything. It's more special watching them when they're old.
That is a surprise.
@@mrmark8603 Not surprising that older NON WOKE TV shows are SO much better than the WOKE nonsense on TV today......its unwatchable !
There's not one bad angle on a Trans-Am. - And the camera loves it! - beautiful cars.

Yes that Datsun 210 was speeding

The 1979 Trans Am came with the WS6 handling package and was accurately carving up those curves at speed. The Dodge Monaco, even with a police pursuit package, would have suffered from severe understeer at speed, just like what happened here.
WS6 was optional and that Trans Am doesnt have it (7inch snowflake wheels instead of ws6s 8 inch)
2:11 In pursuit, but gets passed by a grocery getter on the right hand side to boot!
I saw that too!😝
Best part is Shatner turns his head at just the right moment to make it look like Hooker was watching it happen
Damn fine Rockford turn.
That "Y" turn was originally made famous by Broderick Crawford, of Highway Patrol fame in the 50s.
robbers....you think a bright yellow trans am is a discreet get away car??🙄

Love the yellow color scheme!
Yeah, great color scheme for a getaway car!
Stunt driving is truly a lost art.
Yes, your right dude it's not the same with today's movies and t.v. shows all are predictable and boring 🥱.

V6 twin turbo Datsun maybe 😂
Welcome to the malaise era. A malaise car chase is like watching turtles fkuk.

Back then Dodge & GM built cars way better than they do nowadays.
Well Dodge isn’t building much of anything right now, and GM is a Chinese company with a US division that mainly sells trucks.
