    Great review. I tried in vain for a long time to find the best fitting strap for my comfort level. After many failed attempts and a lot of wasted $$$, I finally found a winner. The bobo m2 pro, has provided the comfort I persistently searched for and needed. The added battery support is a huge bonus. Then to add more positivity to this wonderful strap, the addition of the fan, has proven to be a great set up.
    Once again great content. Thanks Jay 🙏

    I’ve tried a few alternative straps. But I guess I’m in the minority who prefer the stock strap for all round usability and for being comfortable enough. I love how you can go from stand up, 360 play to kicking back on the sofa for movie time.

    Love this tier list of Quest 2 straps! I definitely agree with the M2 Pro being at the top of this list. Personally though, while it's the most expensive option not on this list, my favorite would have to be the Frankenquest with a 3D printed battery mount. I have a 20,000 mAh power bank mounted on the back of the strap as a counter weight along with VR Cover padding for both the DAS and Quest and it had held up super well for me lately after finding a sturdy mount. Comfort wise I find it extremely comfortable, but I would place it 2nd compared to the M2 Pro. The M2 Pro is by far the most comfortable head strap I've ever used, but due to some fitting issues plus the smaller sized battery and lack of included headphones, I always go back to the Frankenquest.

    • @jaybratt
      @jaybratt  2 года назад

      I had the DAS for a long time and it was nice. I was sticking to straps that come with a battery as part of it or I would've included that. That is simply the BEST way to play for a long time with great audio though.

      @@jaybratt Like night and day difference! I guess only real improvement it could have is a larger battery but then weight would be an issue. Do you know if you could plug a 10 or 20,000mA external battery pack in your pocket to the bobovr's battery port while playing?

    • @Keanine
      @Keanine 2 года назад

      I don't know if it would be a problem for other people, but using my Oculus Elite Battery Strap I found that after playing an intense game the VRCover interface would get slippery and the Elite Strap would begin to slide. To fix it, I had to make it really tight but that ended up hurting my head after 20 minutes of playtime, which defeated the point of the extended battery. I went back to the stock interface and it mostly fixed the issue for me, although it's far less comfortable. All in all, if you have a better strap you probably won't have this issue but in my case it didn't work out

      Just started using prescription lenses after using glasses with spacers or no glasses at all. Got delivered about 10 days before RE4 VR came out, the game I got the Quest 2 for. It was never as clear with glasses--made me appreciate the capabilities of the headset more. I couldn't use the default strap for more than a minute probably. Terrible. Got the regular M2 (no pro released back then). Instantly waaaaaaay better. I got it because I like PSVR's design. Battery life was an issue though, so my solution? Go to Best Buy, get a battery with a nice ratio of capacity to weight, and strap it to the top part of the headset with masking tape. It's light enough that I forget about it :P

    I have an elite battery strap from the batch after they supposedly fixed the issues, and it snapped yesterday. Support took about 20 minutes over their chat client and they setup a replacement for me, it arrived within 24 hours. This is in the UK by the way.
    I'm sure the third party straps are probably better but I was very impressed with the Oculus support, if only their quality control was as good there would be no issues. If I didn't already own one I probably wouldn't get one, but I do like knowing I have a product thats officially supported with good support if anything goes wrong. Hope this helps to inform anyone who's trying to make up their mind!

    I personally prefer the M1 Pro over the M2 Pro. It stays on my head more securely, simpler to adjust, lighter weight, more balanced, and the lack of a forehead pad means less skin-contact resulting in a less sweaty forehead. I'd say for these two they're 'S' or 'A' rank depending on the person. Regardless of whatever you pick, a battery strap is essential not just to extend play time, but to make your play session comfortable and reduce the risk of injuring your neck.

    I just bought the BOBOVR m Pro, it fits okay, but for my headshape it takes a ton of finessing to get it to fit correctly because of the back.
    I hope to see someone make something similar to an umpire helmet: Make the forehead piece slightly fit more on top of the head to balance out the weight and just use the standard elastic strap for the back to get it perfectly snug without having to deal with everyone's Occipital bone placement being different.
    That's my biggest issue with Halo Headstraps, they're supposed to snug the bone, but for me, my head is really big and i cant get the back of the M2 Pro to reach because it doesnt pivot back there.
    If they make a 3rd version and give pivot points for the back that would help so much

      @@jaybratt honestly, having used an Rift S briefly, I've decided I don't care for the halo-type straps at all. Maybe that comes down to my head shape or something.
      Other than a a small pad which I ran the stock strap through, and hanging a power brick off the back, the stock strap has been fine. The 'elite' style ones with the rachets don't seem to do much that pulling the elastic tight doesn't also do.

      @@DFX2KX if you can get your hands on a kiwi elite I think it provides the least pull of any elite strap and is the most comfortable. It's the one I found was the best when I slept in VR because it actually didn't add the pressure of the weight to my face even. Do they all charge both batteries when you plug into the back? Does Oculus Link work with any when plugged in through the battery?

    • @jaybratt
      @jaybratt  2 года назад +2

      They all can continue to charge the headset while being charged but it can run slower as efficiencies are lost through the process. None of them support link passthrough though. If someone launches one with that it will be a big deal

    Probably too late to get a reply here as this vid is 3 months old but I am about to buy the M2 pro. but I've seen a lot of reviews on Amazon saying that the quest2 internal battery still drains even with the M2 plugged in as the power delivery is not great enough from the M2 batteries. Is this true in your testing?
    If you started with 100% quest battery and just kept playing non stop with M2 batteries being swapped continuously, how long till the quest 2 internal drains down to say 10%?
    Reason for asking is we use quests for our arcade and have customers all day playing games. I dont want the quests to die after 6-7 hrs of use. We are open 12hrs a day.
    Anyone's feedback about the battery drain issue is welcomed. Thanks.

      Hey I'm glad to hop in and help. First thing I think I should note they've made a newer head strap called the M2 Plus that is an improvement over the Pro: ruclips.net/video/1UafjFItaqY/видео.html if you're considering any I'd choose that one.
      Your correct it can't maintain a 100% battery but I found it never dies either. The battery just can't stay at full capacity but as it gets lower it will maintain it. I know this because we took Quest 2s to an Anime Convention last month and demoed VR to hundreds of people and we hot swapped BoboVR batteries all day long and kept them going. They do their job surprisingly well in that regard so they would serve your arcade.
      That said I hope you have reliable Quests. We started the 3 day weekend with 5 Quests and were down to 3 by the end due to them having tracking issues, controllers drifting or other issues that slowly killed them over the hundreds of demos.
      Hope that helps 😊 -Jay

      @@jaybratt @JayBratt thank you so much for the prompt and detailed reply. Good to know about the M2 pro not letting the quest2 drain that much.
      So what makes the plus better? I watched that video and I dont believe you went I to detail about the actual differences in the strap it's self. More so about the accessories.
      Have you found the plus to feel stronger and more robust (regardless of the honeycomb grip). Is the tightening wheel the same, plastic parts the same? Better in what way? I'm happy to buy a bunch of them if they are all round better.
      Regarding your tracking issues, because the quest uses IR to communicate with the trackers, if there is a lot of reflective surfaces it can cause the cameras to lose sight of the IR lights on the trackers. Maybe if there was a lot of glass or shiny stuff around your booth and if there's too much sun it will cancel out the IR light sent from the trackers. You probably know about that sort of stuff anyway. So I won't sit here and give u advise :) but we haven't had any issues with losing tracking as our VR escape rooms are in a dark room with IR flood lights and UV flood lights and glow in the dark paint and tape on walls.
      Thanks again, I'll be sure to research the plus more...
      Lastly, would the M1 pro be an option or is it not as good/ discontinued. Why did u give the M2 pro an S and the M1 an A. What's the main reason?

    • @jaybratt
      @jaybratt  2 года назад +1

      The Plus has the flexible rear pad that conforms to more head shapes and has less of the "slipping issue" people cited with the pro. The rear side arms were switched to a more flexible strong plastic to prevent breaking. The side arms now click into position to make it feel more stable. Rear knob feels the same but I never had any issue with it before. I think that's all the changes.
      M1 got an A and not an S because it had an issue where the front of the headset could slide off it's rails if you pulled straight forward when taking it off. The Plus model fixed that luckily. You can see it here at 4:24 ruclips.net/video/hXkK_PUf1-8/видео.html

    I have the BOBOVR M2 pro..I love it but the gears on the tightening wheel is giving me some issues with it locking up or gears stripping, also does it only tighten down on one side because it’s always lopsided on my head?
