@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly yes but he was brilliant in the playoffs against Green Bay at least. And seeing how Kyle Shanahan utilize the pistol formation and shotgun formation with Trey Lance today was good to see as well
The play calling is fine. Its his play design that sucks. Same issues he had with the niners. He could scheme up a run game. But his passing game was trash.
@@jesusfernandez6069 I don’t buy it. Kaepernick was terrible as a passer and was mostly responsible for his own undoing. Sure Roman can have some mind numbing play calls and decisions but he also helped Lamar and the offense have a big improvement from year 1 to year 2 after Morhingweg was terrible as a play caller. The 2019 Ravens had one of the most efficient passing offenses in the NFL and probably a top 3 passing offense in the history of their franchise considering Jackson had the highest passer rating and most TD passes of any QB in the history of the Ravens. If Roman deserves blame he probably deserves credit too. Imo if the Ravens had the same exact offensive line that they had in 2019, with Yanda still there and a fully healthy Stanley and no circus at the center position Jackson probably has another 32 TD pass and 100+ rating season. Plus, Andrews is the only great receiving threat. Brown is streaky and we don’t have a true #1 WR. And Lamar was just more careless with the football than he was in his MVP year, that’s no ones fault but his own. I get on Browns fans for absolving Baker of guilt for 2019 when he had a terrible coach but was still very careless with the ball. I don’t like putting all that blame on Roman and letting the players absolve themselves. I thought it was selfish what Lamar and Brown did last year, throwing Roman under the bus.
@@rmh941 I’ve been saying the same thing for 2 years. This team is driven by a dominant run blocking O line and the best (by a mile) running QB in the league. LJ is so great at what he does that he can still play at 85-90% of his 19 season even with the retirement of Yanda and the other O line health issues and make the playoffs and even win a game. He’s that good (as a runner/dynamic QB). IMHO instead of trying to create a Drew Brees passing attack, stick to what they are absolutely great at and they/he (LJ) will get right back to an MVP level. He’s scary good As for Baker, you saw what happened to even the mighty KC Chiefs offense when they had 2 street free agent level JAGs playing offensive tackle. And Mahomes is a better player and athlete (runner) than Baker (at this point). And that idiot coach had them running long developing pass plays. Nobody trusted Freddy, least of all Baker. CLE is lucky to have survived that season without serious injury.
@@rmh941 Well Roman had Alex Smith who was a great passer and the offense got nothing done. Kaepernick gave Roman's garbage offense life. And unlike Lamar, Kaepernick absolutely dominated in playoff games. He made the Packers cry. As a 49ers fan, I can confirm that Roman is total garbage as on OC. Looking at how the Ravens were destroyed in playoffs is undeniable proof of this.
Dear lord, I remember calling for Greg’s head after the niners offense was clearly stagnant in 2013. He’s just a qb killer ultimately because he has zero imagination outside of what he’s already established.
@Henry Owen nothing but be a glorified staff manager who’s only as good as his staff… & holds on to his buddies to long. His buddies that are usually old dinosaur coordinators that are out of touch with today’s game.
@@rashidbey9142 thank you. I saw this in 2012. Take away magical plays and harbs is a mediocre coach with no sb. The seasons after the sb when the real leaders left was proof of it until Lamar appeared. All our top coaches left immediately with Harbs there but he kept all the bad ones.
Good to see another perspective here. The media seems focused on Lamar's inability to throw deep outside routes. I hadn't noticed nearly as much criticism of Roman.
The media is focused on Lamar Jackson not being able to throw? I haven't seen one article or one TV talking head say that. Can you give an example I'm genuinely curious because all I've heard from the media is how he can do no wrong, like in this video.
It’s a three-game sample size. Just because the games are playoff games doesn’t imply he’s bad in the playoffs. Anything can happen in a small sample size.
It's interesting to compare Lamar and Kaepernick, I think Greg Roman needs to learn from his mistakes, and like you said, improve his gameplan. Edit: I didn’t realize the controversy I was starting in the replies 😅
As a former 49er fan the situations and players may be different but Roman is handling it the same way and it is making the same problems for the developing QB. It is definitely a Roman problem, that was my first thought seeing the video title before even clicking it, guess that makes me biased haha.
Don’t compare the 2. Colin was a player with a particular skill set under a good system. When other teams locked on a his system was less as good he was terrible. Compare that to Jackson who has is much more skilled, so it’s harder for teams to lock on. Unlike kaepernick, Jackson is trying to evolve past his running ability. Which I believe explains his struggles in 2020( plus injuries and COVID)
I want to believe this wrong but since they have this man on tape he has bottomed out every year. Great team that could have won chips with a stud like old man brady or josh Allen.
@Cass Taylor or its because the te is his only competent receiver and Greg Roman isn't a great offensive coordinator because multiple times in a row his offense has become stagnant then gotten fired for it.
Lamar Jackson struggles in the playoffs the same reason why Kordell Stewart, Randall Cunningham and Mike Vick became mortal in the playoffs. At the end of the day, you have to throw the ball with accuracy, anticipation, and placement. Those wide open passes Lamar hit in the regular season, are much tighter in the postseason. The great quarterbacks "see" when dudes are open, instead of waiting until they're open. Because Lamar doesn't throw very well, he relies on his godly mobility to buy time to WAIT until guys are open, and I mean WIDE OPEN. That just isn't sustainable.
The main reason why the Ravens have lost in the playoffs is behind the bench. As a diehard of this team I feel like Harbaugh's tactics sometimes are outdated in the playoffs. Hopefully I'm wrong but he has won 3 playoff games since the Super Bowl. And those were to a Broncos team with a backup QB, a Steelers team missing Le'Veon Bell, and a Titans team that was one dimensional. He should be on the hotseat but thats not how the Ravens work.
I want him gone so bad but people call me crazy for saying it. we didn't win those superbowls because of him he was just along for the ride. we can still win one with him but he's gotta start listening to some criticism.
@@kiyanwest149 yes because he ain't coaching this team right. he be running this team like a step dad. dude soft as hell. idk what yall be seeing. he got bad clock management and his analytical skills need adjusting. if it weren't for LJ we wouldn't have the shot we do every year.
It's quite interesting to see the reasons behind these issues that everybody notices. Thanks a lot for doing that every week! It's going to be interesting to see if and if so how Greg Roman will adjust his system and if other teams might also use this aggressive Quarters sheme to stop the Ravens
Thanks man! Yeah, it's all on film. The NFL is headed towards a 2 high/ quarters heavy approach, so it'll be interesting to see if Roman can innovate along with them
CK had the best lines when he got to the play offs, prime time Frank Gore and a solid group receiver's they are not the same Colin is super overrated 🤣
Whats missing in the post season is the coaching. It all starts at the top. Not so much the O coordinator, as leadership playing checkers in playoffs while opposing teams are playing chess ! Harbs is the problem, if he can't stay a step ahead of other coaches.
They keep trynna win with him throwin 30 times 🤷♂️their ego gets in the way they don’t jus wanna win they wanna win and have people say “Lamar out-quarterbacked ____ Player”
I really hope Roman gets a push in the direction by the new coaching members behind the passing game and WRs can stay healthy during the season unlike now (heavy emphasis on Watkins) so we can see Lamar not have to play with another undermining scehem/cast. That way even if the Oline underwhelms in the playoffs again, Lamar won't have to struggle all by himself.
Ok this is very convenient. When in doubt, blame the OC . Greg Roman is really only 50% of the issue. Nobody complains when the Ravens are up by 3 TDs in the 1st half most games or the Offense is breaking records. The other half is lack of execution and LJ's inability to make certain throws on the field. He's very proficient down the middle of the field but outside the numbers he's trash. He often overthrows wide open receivers on deep sideline routes or throws late. If not that it's a wounded duck. If the QB can get all the credit, which in this case LJ really should because without him they're a losing team, then he should be able to shoulder the blame as well.
Your comment seems to be in the minority here, which is baffling to me. How many times have we heard of elite QB's changing the play, or just outright ignoring their OC's like Peyton Manning. Lamar is supposed to be elite. He won an MVP and you can't say anything about his ability to throw the football without someone rushing in to defend him. He also sounds dumb as hell in interviews. The guy could be a genius for all I know, I don't know him personally, but every interview I've heard him speak he's inarticulate, refers to women as Dudes, etc. I have to admit though, I'm bias. Running QB's are all kinds of fun in Madden, but they rarely win the big dance in the NFL. Closest one I can think of was Steve Young and he might have had one of the greatest arms in NFL history. He led the league in passing six times I think, and there's less than a handful of QB's who have done that. If Cam Newton, Michael Vick, and Randal Cunningham couldn't get there, what makes Lamar different? When he starts standing in the pocket and making throws, I'll start respecting his game.
I feel like a lot of these coordinators and coaches get complacent because they can be fired but still picked up immediately by another team, these teams just recycle the same coordinators and coaches and it’s rare a brand new person comes in to be a coordinator or coach
GREG ROMAN NEEDS TO JUST BE GIVIN G A CHECK and told not to show up at the RAVENS CAMP ANYMORE....This is Lamar Jackson Kryptonite. Been on record about this. Thank you for your Analysis.
Thankfully I found someone that understands! It’s the scheme I said this in 2019 too even though we blew through the season I always noticed that receivers were always in the same area during routes and even running into each other while running routes! and more recently this year a lot of pre snap penalties like illegal formations and shifts. That’s all coaching even the formations he has don’t work
This is actually really good. And it’s wild because Bobby Petrino ran some of the same concepts at Louisville and Lamar was hitting his options in stride, he rarely found himself running around trying to force a pass out of designed passing concepts. I think he’s just so afraid to sail balls against NFL safety’s but he’s got to trust his arm.
Harbaugh and management have to know about Roman's flaws past and present, which is more of a reason I don't understand why they haven't tried a shakeup this offseason, which you also stressed is very make-or-break. I really liked the example you had of Marquise running an unnecessary double move against the Bills with Hyde recovering and ready to undercut the slow developing route. Plays like those definitely have to add up over the course of the season, but let's see if the improvements at WR can help...but glassy Watkins, Bateman (injured), and Hollywood (coming back from injury) is worrisome.
@@mikeblast7507 nah. Lamar isn't Brady/Rodgers level, but he's at least average as a passer. Remember that he's always had bad receivers, Hollywood is a #2 at best. Lamar tends to overthrow outside passes, but he's a capable passer. Roman's done the same thing with every team, the issue is that the pass plays don't make sense AND there's a lack of WR talent. Lamar bails Roman out every week- give Roman a different QB without Lamar's talent and it's painfully clear what the problem is.
@@mikeblast7507 they had him going below rounds because they thought it was the typical one read then takeoff Qb anyone with a brain knows and watched him at Louisville that if he was put in the right situation he would strive
I am a zero expert on schemes, but I think I could make eye tests on QBs (following Football since the 80s, especially passers > QBs). I would argue it is at least 50/50 if not more to blame on LJ. He simply is not accurate on the deep(er) balls (everybody, including all of us ever doing at least some sports in our lives, can complete dink and dunk stuff). And it can't be cured. Either you have accuracy or you don't. Same was true with Kaep. Take away their running game and doom looms. My 50 cents. My predticton: LJ will never win a SB unless his team fields a monster D like DEN 2015, or BAL 2000, or CHI 1984-86. Btw, I love this videos. Awesome stuff. Very much appreciated.
SO glad you made this video!! Love the comp between Taylor, Kaep and Lamar being linked to the Roman offence. Love how you broke down passing concepts not only in terms of the coverages, but how the routes should be meant to sync up with the QBs footwork and line of vision. Hoping for Lamar's sake that he gets some better passing concepts out of Roman this year because that would elevate him to the next level!
Thanks Ben! Much appreciated, yes I hope things change too! I'm certainly worried looking at Roman's past history though.. but then again why hire him if the Ravens didn't think he was going to have changed/innovated?
It certainly doesn't help to have guys like Josh Allen, Pat Mahomes and Derrick Henry in the same conference [shameless edit, I've not made a mistake here earlier]. Not to mention, Darth Belichick is also still there, lurking in the shadows.
Lamar, Baltimore is in AFC north Allen is in East, Mahomes west, henry south, Belichick coach in Patriots division AFC East. They play in different division, but same conference
Packers fan here. This sounds similar to how Mike McCarthy offenses became very predictable, so much so that Aaron Rodgers was actually calling out the coach during games. Lamar Jackson may need to talk to Harbaugh and ask him if they couldn't get a new OC.
This was another well crafted production Alex. As a 49ers fan, I definitely remember Roman, and how the offense eventually got stale as time went on. I don't think it was all him, as Colin K himself definitely didn't step up as a passer, and the pass weapons weren't anything that great in my opinion. Still, I'm wondering if LJax is going to go down a similar road. Different situations of course since the 49ers organization itself was a dumpster fire behind the scenes, and the Ravens aren't. Roman at least has the EXP of knowing how things went wrong at his previous stints. It'll be up to him to find a balance of comfort for Lamar, while providing something new to help him level up. Going to be exciting to witness.
Thanks TLD! Yeah, the Ravens are really fascinating right now. It's interesting how Roman keeps having solid QB production and then things kinda keep falling off the rails but he keeps getting jobs. I also feel like the Ravens are kind of caught in between wanting to be a power run team and a spread out the defense with speed team.. but their front office is incredible, so I'm sure they know what they're doing
@@AlexRollinsNFL great production. As a ravens fan, it’s all true. Lamar is terrific, he just needs a game plan that can get that extra 10% needed in the playoffs. Important to also note the ravens brought in a pass game coordinator this year, while Roman is still the OC. I’m excited to see the results
Thelonedraftsman. They had Richard Sherman's good friend LOL and Bolden,so they had two sure handed physical receivers. The only receiving weapon they lacked was a fast deep threat but they compensated with the fastest TE in NFL history.
@@alanmazzucchelli9013 Yeah I know Crabtree and Boldin were decent physical receivers. However, every receiver on that roster on the time couldn't gain separation consistently. All catches were contested. Vernon had his speed, but was a body catcher, and had a limited route tree. Also, Boldin was basically a TE at that point in his career. Just a "meh" group in my opinion. Colin K should have still stepped up better though.
Old man Brady my favorite QB and always been. But Lamar is by far the best show in the entire NFL right now. Easily the most fun to watch. His 5yd scrambles are more impressive than his 50yd QB power rushes imo. Professional athletes, the best in the world, cannot get hands on this dude. Lamar’s in a phone booth dodging tackles and it’s incredible to watch. Seein him stop and start, break left and right 2 to 3 times in a single rush while always avoiding the first tackle is straight video game dominate. Also tho, it says a lot about my guy Tawmmy that other than the yr he blew his knee out, all these younger more athletic and supremely talented QBs have missed more games in their short careers than Tawm has. Being healthy enough to suit up week in and week out can be the most important thing for the QB above everything else. All NFL QBs are talented and capable of making every read and throw needed to succeed in the league. Being dependable week in week out for decades is taken for granted a bit in todays era it seems like. Hope Lamar can stay healthy and have a long career.
This. The answer is honestly so simple...just have someone other than Roman design the passing plays. Roman is only good at running, they need someone who actually knows how to coach passing. Roman's a gimmicky OC who's not well-rounded enough, and still hasn't shown an ability to design decent pass plays. There's a reason teams fired him.
Our offensive line is the reason why!! It’s hard to get anything going when you only have 3 seconds, or bad snaps going over Lamars head!! Hopefully this year they take a big step forward and give Lamar some time. AFC Championship is up for grabs this season! Who will rise? The Baltimore Ravens thats who!! 😈
The problem in the games where he struggles isn’t him making bad reads or anything I swear it’s cus he can’t throw cus his receivers don’t get open because of the play calling. If you have ok receivers you can’t afford to have bad play calling. Also there were times were his receivers would drop important passes.
That Bills play at 7:43 shows why I don't like their dependency on run option. It just appears to eat up too much time to execute against pro defenses. Or maybe coaches who believe in it tend to use it with routes that take more time to develop. Lamar is 5 yards back to receive the snap. He has to take time to fake the run option, and it keeps him at the same spot 5 yards back while the line is being pushed towards him. Then he takes a step back after that to create a little more room. The next play by the Raiders the edge rusher on the near side does the same thing that the Bills edge rusher does. Start his rush around the edge and then collapse inside. But the Raiders receiver makes his cut 10 yards down field while Brown for the Ravens is making his cut 20 yards down field. Carr is even looking down with his play action fake before Lamar has finished pulling the ball out for his run option fake. And both edge rushers get inside at the same time. Except Carr who drops back 5 yards also, is stepping into his throw before the DE gets there. While Lamar is taking a step back to get away from the front being pushed in on him.
After watching the Monday night game LIVE and coming back to this video, its CRAZY how Roman has lowkey abandoned his weaknesses with Tee Martin & Keith Williams assisting with route concepts, formations and timing/rhythm… Lamar has shown ELITE passing ability since Bonyton Beach HS days lol this might get scary yall
I live in Baltimore I put it on the coach they go away from the play calling that got them in the playoffs we a running team why try to throw 45 50 times in a playoff game we ain't built like that our relievers ain't like that blame the coaches not Lamarr
Makes sense, If running is 50% of your talent and that is taken away then your passing is not enough to win and it doesn't help if your play caller does not have the skill to scheme for that. With Kap when he got figured out and his running was taken away then the passing was not a big threat.
It is a team game. You can’t give the quarterback all of the blame or credit. Ravens have not had good coaching, receiving or blocking. Not all that is lamars fault
Not good blocking???pfffffft great blocking... and receivers??? Continously drafting 1st round awesome weapons.. with elite TEs.... Ravens coaches are ELITE.. LAMAR struggles in playoffs cause his running style
@@sportstalkwithmayo1670 I seen plays during last season where Lamar was the only one still in the play blockers watching and receivers just stopping after they run their route.
Baltimore fans have been saying this for a LONG time. During the offseason the Ravens hired Tee Martin and Keith Williams as the WR coach and passing game coordinator with the explicit intention of giving the receivers better tools and fundamentals for getting open and helping Roman with his passing schemes and concepts.
He going through an identity crisis during plays. He should run at first opportunity but his indecisiveness to throw causes good plays to breakdown. Titan(19)/Bills did a great job on him in the playoffs
@Henry Owen That's not really how NFL, or most college, coaching staffs work. Most head coaches are not primary play designers or playcallers. You have a few, like Andy Reid or Sean McVay, but most head coaches aren't responsible for that. They conceive the identity and overall philosophy of the team, and then the coordinators take that philosophy and design the schemes to implement it.
I'm always worried about multiple guys for one role like what Miami is doing, but I think Roman needs someone to come in and challenge his ideas or at least think outside the box
@@AlexRollinsNFL He flat out is awful with passing concepts. So many games last year, WR's would be running 2 feet from each other, 25+ yards down field. It's amazing how someone with so much run concept creativity, can be so awful with passing concepts
Answer: Playoff teams are better, and are giving max effort. Therefore your stats will obviously dip compared to the regular season. He'll be fine, Ravens are lucky to have him.
@Abc Def Haters going to hate my guy. They clown Lamar for not passing for 4,000 yards in a season but forget that he rushes for 1,000. Ravens have had one of the worst wr core since Lamar started. They always make it seem like it’s Lamar’s fault for everything. The only game I truly put on Lamar was the first Steelers game in 2020. He played horrible but other than that, it’s been because of Roman, the wr dropping passes, and that goddamn o- line. It’s been to many times where Lamar has put it on the money and the receivers couldn’t make the catch.
LJ even has admitted to having trouble with an NFL playbook. In HS he didn’t have one, and in college they made it as simple as they could for him! How are you going to change your playbook in one week with a QB who already has trouble with remembering plays?
Greetings! Thank you for the video!! I wouldn't say Mr. Lamar Jackson Struggles in the Playoffs but the Ravens(especially Offensive Play Calling) Struggles in the Playoffs. The Ravens should be more balanced in the regular season and playoffs. Mr. Lamar Jackson is A FANTASTIC THROWER OF THE FOOTBALL AND A TOTAL PACKAGE QB!! The Ravens are using TOOOOO MUCH of his running ability and not of enough of HIS THROWING ABILITY!! MR. LAMAR JACKSON WILL BE THROWING WAY MORE THIS YEAR AND IN THE FUTURE!!! ALL OF HIS DESIGN RUNS ARE GOING WAYYYYYYY DOWN NOW AND IN THE FUTURE!!! Thank you for telling the TRUTH ABOUT MR. LAMAR JACKSON!!!!
I mean, the stats and tape don’t lie. Lamar has been bad in the playoffs. That in no way means he will always be bad in the playoffs, but let’s be adults about it. He’s been a substandard playoff Quarterback
@@troyboy811 and I would say it’s because Lamar wanted to go away from what made the absolutely dominating in that 19 season that partially led to the subtle regression of the Ravens offense. He wanted to be a drop back guy. Instead of being the MVP again because of his running.
All 4 teams that made it to the championship games last year had more drops than the Ravens. In fact, the Ravens ranked 23rd in dropped passes with 16. The Chiefs had 25, Green Bay had 20, Bill's had 18, and the Bucks had 24.
Your example means nothing. All those teams throw way way way more than the Ravens. You have to use a percentage of drops to pass attempts. Let me put it this way. If I only have 10 dollars and you only have 100 dollars and I lose a dollar and you lose two dollars whose better off?
Bad play calling, weak OL. Having Roman means sacrificing the pass game, so teams have years' worth of footage to prepare for everything Bmore will do in the playoffs. Plus Lamar's always had terrible WRs. Lamar doesn't struggle, he needs tools to work with.
He needs to hit his checkdowns. Defenses are so worried about what he can do with his legs that there has to be an open player. I’d like to see Lamar roll out more, utilize his legs and extend plays.
This is why they brought in Keith Williams and Tee Martin. Let Roman design the games best running plays and let Tee And Keith manage the passing game.
Time will tell. What will they say when the OC is replaced and NFL teams STILL scheme to stop him by simply MAKING him beat them with his arm and they keep losing in the post season? This situation has played out countless times with countless QB's with similar skill sets. I can assure you, Tom Brady doesn't need to worry about RUNNING the ball. Rat ball always gets beat by sound fundamentals. Just ask the Phi Slamma Jamma, NC State had them figured out. A different sport I know, but its the same principal. The running stuff should not be a primary option. Ask Steve Young.
3 months later and we need more help coaching still. On paper our hires make sense but for whatever reason we cant put it together since the goat players left.
Simple. Playoff teams aren't stupid enough to let his usual playstyle work as much as it does. The ravens offense relies way too much on his natural ability which gets really predictable really fast. Lamar has the ability as a quarterback to make things work, but they need to switch things up, because while one specific weapon can work on a consistent basis, you shouldn't put all your money on it. What the ravens are doing with Lamar is like if the titans kept giving Derrick Henry the ball the entire time, sure it works a lot, but you can't keep doing it every game for most of the plays and not expect good teams to catch on.
We need some serious speed guys to take those Safeties out of the play.....Bateman an Andrews can work the middle of the field is great but we need some burners at least sign one more speedy WR just to keep the defense honest !!!
Ravens offense heavily favors a run game that eats a lot of clock. It's a recipe for disaster when they're playing against an elite passing scheme that forces them to play from behind and have to try to score points in a hurry, aka use the same two passing plays in their playbook that every defense already knows about.
Agree w/ your points, but not really your conclusion. Think Roman should get more credit for finding innovative ways for QBs w/ traditional limitations to be successful at MVP levels. Most coaches would shift to PA and quick passes to counter a defense overplaying the run. PA gives the same look and a chance to catch em on their heals. Short passes use the defenses aggression against em by gettin it out early. I think the stable of QBs he’s a godsend for can also be a detriment. By utilizing what they’re good at so we’ll, they may not spend as much as time as they should improving on their deficiencies. Deficiencies that at the end of the day are needed to win long term in the NFL. I think it’s on Lamar to improve his traditional QB play and eventually shift to employing his sick rushing abilities more sparingly to make em more effective. Right now they rely on the rush bc Lamars air game was just not on lvl w/ most NFL QBs. Everyone knows it, especially defenses. They’re gonna make Lamar beat em through the air and he hasn’t proven capable of doing it yet. I don’t put that on Roman.
Jackson's playoff stats: 55% completion % TD's 3. INTERCEPTIONS 5. You have some great points concerning the Offensive coordinator, but it was Jackson making horrible throws that led to their losses. I've never seen a QB get so many passes from critics? I don't remember people blaming the Offensive cord. when Philip Rivers stunk it up against the Patriots in the AFC championship game or blaming any offensive cord. when the QB stinks it up? Maybe I'm wrong?
While I do agree Lamar needed more offensive help and his coaching staff had failed him, I also wonder if he is limited as a pocket passer when it comes to reading the defense, making decisions, and throwing accurately on a consistent basis. I'm not sure myself, because it's hard to tell since he's been held back as well but I'm also not in the QB room
At this point they should just bring in another OC to implement passing concepts since apparently greg roman cant learn after all these years - sincerely, a person who drafted lamar

@Henry Owen I understand
The play calling is fine. Its his play design that sucks. Same issues he had with the niners. He could scheme up a run game. But his passing game was trash.
Niners fan here. Confirming that Greg Roman doesn't know how to scheme up good passing plays.
Man is just terrible with passing schemes..
He’s scary good
As for Baker, you saw what happened to even the mighty KC Chiefs offense when they had 2 street free agent level JAGs playing offensive tackle. And Mahomes is a better player and athlete (runner) than Baker (at this point).
And that idiot coach had them running long developing pass plays.
Nobody trusted Freddy, least of all Baker. CLE is lucky to have survived that season without serious injury.

It’s a three-game sample size. Just because the games are playoff games doesn’t imply he’s bad in the playoffs. Anything can happen in a small sample size.

Don’t compare the 2. Colin was a player with a particular skill set under a good system. When other teams locked on a his system was less as good he was terrible.

There’s no excuse when the Ravens went 14-2 same year Lamar won MVP he and the ravens got curbed stomped by the Titans

I don’t get this narrative. What did he do? He beat a team by 30 points then lost to the chiefs…the team literally everyone loses to.
If not Roman out, and if defense doesn't help Wink goes and most of a Harbaugh has to go also!
Watkins won't even make it to the field. He can't stay healthy. You're welcome.
Go Chiefs
It is interesting to come back to this video a year later in the middle of the contract dispute.
greg would have Lamar run an rpo play on third and 15 .. great coaching.
I feel like a lot of these coordinators and coaches get complacent because they can be fired but still picked up immediately by another team, these teams just recycle the same coordinators and coaches and it’s rare a brand new person comes in to be a coordinator or coach
Nobody ever talks about the receiver drops, especially that 1st playoff game against the Titans

That’s all coaching even the formations he has don’t work
Told you this before, Alex, but you have easily one of the best show out here. 🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate ya man! I have to do more Raiders episodes! Still bummed they left me though
I wouldn’t doubt it if Roman is let go during the season. Ravens need someone new calling the plays. Sick of these elementary passing concepts.
@@milesromo1328 They're all Lamar can handle. There's a reason most teams had him going below the first round in the draft.

They should see how the co coordinator situation in Miami plays out and maybe hire a second OC that takes care of the passing game
Also forgot to comment on this last week. My bad. Hope your channel gets proper recognition my man!
Appreciate it bro! No worries!

Makes sense, If running is 50% of your talent and that is taken away then your passing is not enough to win and it doesn't help if your play caller does not have the skill to scheme for that. With Kap when he got figured out and his running was taken away then the passing was not a big threat.

Greg Roman would probably benefit immensely from a co OC that strictly handles designing the Ravens passing offense.
Someone even competent with a passing game combined with Romans legendary run game would be amazing

Your example means nothing. All those teams throw way way way more than the Ravens. You have to use a percentage of drops to pass attempts. Let me put it this way. If I only have 10 dollars and you only have 100 dollars and I lose a dollar and you lose two dollars whose better off?
@@bye9360 I typed Bucs, spell check changed it to Bucks.
There’s a 9 minute video of ravens drops lol it was a lot more than 16
Receivers need to know when to break off routes do to bad scheme!! SMART RECEIVERS IS THE KEY.
Woah this guy knows his stuff
Bad play calling, weak OL. Having Roman means sacrificing the pass game, so teams have years' worth of footage to prepare for everything Bmore will do in the playoffs. Plus Lamar's always had terrible WRs. Lamar doesn't struggle, he needs tools to work with.
Very impressive analysis.
Thank you!
I typically hate RUclips analysis but this was great work.
Thanks!
1. greg roman sucks 2. the receivers suck 3. didnt lamar just beat the titans singlehandedly last year in the playoffs
He lost bad in the regular season
@@kghostthegreat what matters more, the playoffs or regular season
No the ravens defense did by shutting down Derrick Henry. Lamar was ok that game.
@@jayanthsambaraju6562 who led the offense to 20 points
@@jayanthsambaraju6562 he was our whole offense that game 🤡
He needs to hit his checkdowns. Defenses are so worried about what he can do with his legs that there has to be an open player. I’d like to see Lamar roll out more, utilize his legs and extend plays.
People act like josh Allen lit it up in the playoffs.
I know, huh!
He’s definitely the better passer

On point, its definitely Roman more often than not...
Greg Roman to Lamar Jackson is Scott Linehan to Dak Prescott
We will see this year.
That first defense was so nasty I don’t know who could’ve beat that
I wanna see this
my first thought as I clicked this "damn Alex who be tellin you these secrets ???" lmao
@X. Why do I see you everywhere lol
This is why they brought in Keith Williams and Tee Martin. Let Roman design the games best running plays and let Tee And Keith manage the passing game.
Sorry but every clip he shown there was a open receiver. Seems to me Lamar is not doing a good job of reading the coverage.
Titans were on a hot roll
That upset happens
Windy day in buffalo, not even Josh Allen and Justin Tucker did well
This is fantastic work!
Thank you Brent!!
Love the analysis, love how this channel breaks things down. keep it up!
Thanks brother!
Gruden and Carr showing how it’s done and getting credit for it. Imagine that.
Love your videos bro keep em comin!
Thanks brother!
Totally agree..Roman has never had a top 25 passing offense
Highlight of my Saturday

Dude, you're awesome! Thank you
Nice one, Alex!
Thanks man!
Being fast isn't the same as being talented
3 months later and we need more help coaching still. On paper our hires make sense but for whatever reason we cant put it together since the goat players left.
Whats going on is that defenses have adapted to the smallish running QB. Shell them out, make them read and adjust and go the long road.
You deserve more subs 🔥
Thanks brother!
Yeah your wrong. WR drops do happen
Light bulb moment right here fellas.
This man is on to something. Great job.
Thanks brother!
You know a man once said, Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This is Greg Roman.
At this point they should just bring in another OC to implement passing concepts since apparently greg roman cant learn after all these years - sincerely, a person who drafted lamar
Lamar is more of a runner tho
