Great tip! I have always known the difference by looking at the pan from underneath, but of course that bulge can also be seen from the top by the dipstick tube.
Hey man, thanks for your help the other day at "A-bodies" I was the dude who had the truck pan on the small block - I was trying to put into a Duster. All of those part #'s/links u gave were a big help. The oil pan bolt flanges were really bent up- but was able to straighten up both sides without too much trouble. The pickup tube was perfect! Today is transmission-install day for me. Hoping to be on the road by Christmas. Appreciate you bro.👍
Good tip 👍. The one that I’ve forgotten about is something like… a small block 727 torque converter won’t fit a big block 727 transmission iirc. Years ago a super stock racer/transmission builder modified a 340 converter for my 383/727 and mentioned that he would have to change the center hub I believe but that memory is fading fast! lol
The splines on my dodge Phoenix 383 T/Flight is huge and your gearing is different in 1st and second 😮. Just saying I’m sure they did that on the LA 318 in the Phoenix’s as well . Love your short clips as I don’t have a lot of spare time . But always worth the watch 👍🏻🇦🇺✌️.
Visual ID is always better than casting numbers.... because not everywhere has cell service and its too many numbers to memorize. Ford, Chevy, Mopar ect ect ect it is always best to learn how to ID parts without the aid of technology. And like you said... it's so much easier than crawling on your back in the wet weeds... if you can even get under there when it's in a grain field.

That's a true moparman....then there's the guy whom tells 999 😂😂😂
😅 Thanks !
That is a quick and easy tell... but I would appreciate the difference and application of lock-up vs. non-lockup transmissions explained to me...
Lock-ups became really popular in the late 70's on up, on both 727's and 904's
Thanks, that really makes it simple
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing
You bet!
The joke was great

But slants Did get 727's behind them 🙂
@@318willrun Yes but I have never seen one.
That's really greatly helpful for us lesser knowledgeable guys! Thanks for this video! And watch for the bulge! 😳
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Mike and good luck at NNN !!!! Go Green Goblin!

ya got me ... ??
@@318willrun the one you don't want in the car, I'd say 🤣
I didn't care about 720 or 990 but I will never forget. THE BULGE
😆
I prefer the 727A I have a 79, Dodge Power Wagon. Best truck ever built.
Good trucks!
Did they make a lock up for a big block?
Not that I'm aware, but that doesn't mean they didn't. I guess I'm questioning a 400 BB in a cordoba.... but I think not at this point
Why does it take so long to
to....... ??
