Ah yes, the old "replace the starter before checking to see if the engine is locked up". LOL. Everybody says rebuild the engine but the easiest thing would be to find one of the other 3 million 97-03 F150 trucks that are still running. Enjoyed the video.
Hey brother, im one of your long time subscribers. I wondered why they pulled the starter when I heard a definite clank against the flywheel teeth the first time they tried, knowing that the engine was seized
The mileage is because of a bad solder point on the back of the cluster circuit board, its super common and a really easy fix, just reflow the odometer pins. I have a 2002 so I know all about these things lol
@@JMRRebuilders For sure! And yeah, its not really worth the effort because you have to take the interior apart (I've done it 3 times) but if you do ever want to there's a ton of videos about it, almost every 10th gen has the same issue
You know I have watched a ton of "will it run" videos and I've noticed the exact same recipe for unsticking a motor. I've tried my best to get everyone on these threads to try what my dad taught me when I purchased my first stuck motor. I've used it every single time I come across one and it never fails. Good luck. 🤔🤠👍⭐🇺🇲
Let's go brother. How you gonna say that then not deliever on it brother. We all wanna know. Thanks for comment and support. Check out our other content
@JMRRebuilders well obviously that motor was definitely a piece of work but under normal conditions my dad taught me to put one part diesel and a little part of marvel mystery oil together and fill each cylinder with the mixture and put the plugs back in and wait 24hrs. Then turn the flywheel because he said that using the bolt on the harmonic balance was wasting his time and mine. 🤔🤣😂🤣😂😝😜🤪🤠👍⭐🇺🇲
Yeah seems like these years the motors and trucks just weren't that great at all. That really sucks, but gotta say love your persistence. Thanks for comment and support
@@JMRRebuilders I still love the 10th gen trucks, but I believe it was the first generation of the modular engines (2v) that were the major flaw. I'll get another one some day.
hammer the pistons, put break cleaner into the pistons or diesel and put a breaker bar with a 50 pound weight on the end and let it sit for a week and it will eventually unlock itself
I have an '03, the milage issue is probably a bad solder joint on the ground for the little display. Its a common issue. the ground pins solder just needs to be reflowed or replaced
Thanks bought it years ago and now can't find it. We keep getting blessed honestly. The lord keeps providing us with people who have them. We got a few more and even a chevy. Stay tuned. Thanks for comment and support
4.2 ford pretty notorious for blowing head gasket by #1 cylinder and gets coolant in the cylinder and hydronicing the piston bending a rod giving you a ticking sound.
Yeah def good points. At this point if we do anything we will be ripping the motor out and possibly putting a coyote back in its hole. Thanks for the comment and support.
Would love to see you save this truck. I haven't found a RUclips channel that has restored one of these yet. I have a 2000 ford f150 with the 4.2. Has 230,000 miles on it. I have changed just about everything on it except the block. Its not fast and is used as my daily driver but it gets me from A to B.
Yeah, there isn't much interest in that time frame of the Ford trucks. That's awesome. You're still going great, job. Thanks for the comment and support.
Pistons are seized in good from rust I'd just take a small burnsomatic torch and he up the side good of each jesds... let it cool a bit and dump some good penetrative fluid in there maybe a bit of engine oil or Trans fluid after and crank the crank shift bolt get an even longer breaker bar I belt ull break it free
Thanks for comment and support. We believe it was parked cause of the heater core or overheating issue not sure exactly. However yes for sure the humidity combined with the coolant created a perfect environment for corrosion.
It's just a 4.2L so may I recommend building a stroker by using the goodies from a Mustang 3.8L and this 4.2L? Then spice it up with some boost and a 3rd pedal?
I'll tell you what help me decide what to do with mine. I have the exact same truck except it's red. I'm thinking about going white and building a wooden stake bed for it. Some white steelies and a red and blue pinstripe along the side going up the back of the cab. Or do I keep the step side lower it put it on some some black Harley-Davidson F-150 Wheels Rust-Oleum Ford blue tractor paint ? What do you think ?
This engine was design with too much EPA crap to survive. EGR, 4 cats, 4-O2 sensors and all a pain in ass to get to. You can't even see the engine under all the haywire harnesses and hoses. I'm going to replace it with a crate motor with dist and carb no cats.
Replace engine with a used engine. The truck is worth it. You could rebuild the 4.2 V6 that it has, but why bother, when it may not be rebuildable due to a cracked block. Whoever abandoned that truck did so when it was only 8 years old, meaning it may have thrown a rod or they knew it had a cracked block. When you pull that engine out, go ahead and pull with the transmission still on it, because the idiot that drove it some 17 years ago probably destroyed that as well
Ok why you say that a motor is a motor transmission is a transmission if you take care of it and do regular maintenance I know a 1998 Ford WinStar with over 400,000 km on it and is still running like a clock

What size is the motor you have in the truck because i have a 2000 Ford f 150 with the 4.6 motor in it sir
It's the 4.2 ford 6 clyinder. You got a much better engine. Thanks for comment and support.

What’s plan with it now?
No clue. Great question. Maybe let it sit in a field for 50 more years.

what size of engine is it

Use a pry bar on flywheel when you have engine that stuck

@chriss4365 interesting for sure. Thanks for comment and support
soak "everything" for several hrs, take out the battery, fill the coolant, change the alternator, starter,,change the spark plugs etc
Well that would have been an idea just didn't go that route since the motors really not worth it. Thanks for comment and support.
@@JMRRebuilders what did you guys end up doing ? did you just put a whole new engine and more? is there an update coming?
@@kevinkobayashi wr haven't decided yet. We weren't sure that many people like this truck so not sure we will do anything with it.
It could have been parked because of a bad transmission and 20 years of sitting caused rust in the bores from humidity...kinda sucks.
Thanks for comment and support. We believe it was parked cause of the heater core or overheating issue not sure exactly. However yes for sure the humidity combined with the coolant created a perfect environment for corrosion.
Jennings motor sports gets engines that have been sitting for 80 years and locked up and rusted solid running no problem 😂

Put a crate motor in it
Yeah we thought bout that. Thanks for comment and support
Why didn't they just put it in neutral and grab the motor and see if it spins over?
