Thank you for doing this. I am reading my first bible and had to wrap my mind around this chapter. And I fully received the message of being an example of God’s world and to be careful about having a love for the world. This was so helpful!

I just read Genesis 19 and as SHOCKED as I was by reading the end of this chapter, I HAD to search for understanding of it.
I watch you current day, and I had no idea you were on RUclips doing content 2 years ago!! I was pleasantly surprised to see you ( a familiar , Powerful Woman of God) covered this chapter.
    Bless you Bible Bujo🙌🏾✨️✝️

Love your interpretation of this chapter. It's definitely one of the darkest in the Bible and also an instance of how the Bible tends to "other" the tribes around Israel. By starting out the Moabs and Amonites races with an abominable sin, it's that much easier for a Christian to be apathetic towards them further down their lines. It's things like this which make Christians feel like they are so much more blessed than everyone around them, and the same entitlement that leads them to so harshly judge those around them too. It's only a very very small minority of Christians who actually introspect to the extent that they don't "cast the first stone"

One thing that I found interesting in this chapter was that Lot referred to the men as my friends.
I have the New International version. And I was shook that Lot would refer to these men that wanted to do something so terrible as friends.

    • @BibleBujo
      @BibleBujo  4 года назад +6

Yes! Good point. Lot definitely lost his identity in Christ somewhere along the way and got sucked into the lifestyle of the world. It's sad :/

I also found it interesting how they thought back then it was a joke about God destroying the place, just like how when we say "Repent God is coming back soon" how people laugh at us now. These 2 situations are warning others about Gods wrath. I thought that was interesting how similar it was.

First off, I love your red sweater, Bujo.
Second, love what you said in the end that summed up this Genesis 19 about
living in the word of God, not in the world. It's something I aspire to do everyday,
even though the world and the work force tend to distort everything.
Lot is no different than any of us. He was committed to the Lord, but he also was in love for the world
I liked that you mentioned his love of the world unfortunately had consequences that affected his two daughters
(incest), his wife (death) and his son-in-law (never took him seriously). The choices he made came back
to haunt him in so many ways, and that's something we all can learn from Lot.
Remember when Abraham challenged God to save as many as people as he could
before burning Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 18. He was clearly referring to Lot.
When Abraham mentioned to the men of Sodom to not to do the wicked thing
about homosexuality, that was a hint right there that God prohibited homosexuality.
Like you said, there was so much to learn from this chapter such as homosexuality,
the choices we make and incest.

@@BibleBujo Thank you, Bujo. I learn a lot from watching your videos.
I read the scripture through various Bibles I collect, and then I watch
your videos for reinforcement to get a better understanding of what I read
in the Bible. It helps a great deal. I will talk about Genesis 20 with you later this week.
Have a great week, my friend.

Another great video. I think with the daughter's they didn't even consider if this was for God but also they lacked patience for God's plan. Abraham and Sarah were impatient too. The daughter's were so out of touch with God, they weren't even ready to hear what the plan for them was.

You break it these verses down in a great way. You asked about why Lot's daughter's were afraid to live in Zoar. From my research, I think they feared they'd be isolated preventing them from having husbands which in turn made them have relations with their father. These chapters were so interesting!!

the entire story of Lot can be particularly shocking to new readers of the Bible. Lots story is very important because there's more to it than just reading it you really have to think about what has happened.
Lot referring to the men outside his house as brothers is not necessarily problematic to me as it could have been simply to deescalate the situation.
Lot offering his two daughters to them is a poor choice to be sure but in that todays time people underestimate the level of responsibility lot had to a houseguests safety.
Lot and his family were clearly influenced by the culture of Sodom and this is important because it shows how far a Christian can get from God and still be a Christian.
Lots daughters trickery to conceive is yet another poor choice that was clearly influenced by the time they spent in Sodom. this poor choice will lead to quite a bit of problems as the reader will see.
I could go on on this but I don't want to write a book here I enjoyed your video and subscribed .I know it's an older video but still wanted to comment.

Thank you for doing this I really enjoy your Bible study videos, but can I ask one question? Because I'm not sure what is that means and how to explain this.
so here is the scripture I'm talking about: Genesis 19:1 "The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground" So is that mean that Lot was worshiping angels? I'm very confused... because as Christians we should only give glory to God right? I was Catholic before and we used to pray to angels and stuff like that but now I'm not so that's why I'm asking I'm puzzled a little. I would really appreciate it if you could or someone answer that. Thank you a lot. God bless x

I found the versus 19:6-9 very immoral and it’s just a terrible chapter in my opinion. Why will an all almighty god allow this type of behavior.

    • @Lmay1787
      @Lmay1787 3 года назад +4

We are sinful. We also have free will. Could God have stopped the behavior, sure, but instead He used the behavior to teach a lesson and further His plan for the world.
