    ✏ ABOUT
    I am just a regular girl who loves Jesus and studying the bible. I have no formal training in the word (which is probably clear from the videos lol). Study the bible with me as I make videos using my bible study bullet journal. Having a bible study journal has helped me learn how to get closer to God. I use my Christian bullet journal as a way to learn more about the word. The bible study videos are typically women's bible study videos, however all are welcome here. I also post a new video every Friday on a new chapter of the bible, starting with Genesis 1! Study the whole bible with me as I learn more about God's word, chapter by chapter. I cannot put into words how beyond GRATEFUL I am for this channel and amazing group of believers that support and share feedback with each other. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ♡

    I think it would be nice if you are creating a Bible Study for the whole Bible. It would be great! Because this will be a guide to others who are still starting their Christian Life and are studying the whole Bible.

    God bless you! Thanks for your summary and perspective!
    I believe God changes peoples name as a way of saying “ you no longer identify as who you used to be ( In Jacob’s case, a deceiver) but who I (God) say you are”. We as Christians are no longer defined by our past because we have been reborn and transformed. We are made new.

    I just looked it up. "Jacob" means "supplanter" or "deceiver." God changed Jacob's name after he fought with God. “Because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome” Gen. 32:28. Still after that happened, Jacob is sometimes called "Jacob" and sometimes called "Israel." I'm not sure why that is.

    • @BibleBujo
      @BibleBujo  4 года назад +8

      Okay that makes sense. I just heard in a sermon yesterday that God would sometimes refer to Jacob as Jacob rather than Israel because he didn't fully give up his sinful actions. Very interesting

    • @antonio6861
      @antonio6861 3 года назад +2

      i think the just as Jacob struggled so does Israel struggles but always finds a way to won because God has favored Jacob and so will god always favor Israel. just my thoughts

  • @violetyoung2494
    @violetyoung2494 Год назад +1

    Also I wanted to share some cliff notes from the bottom page of my Bible!:
    -El Bethel means God of Bethel
    -Allon Bakuth means Oak of Weeping
    -Jacob means He Grasps the Heel (Hebrew idiom for ‘he deceives’)
    -Israel means He Struggles with God
    -Bethel means House of God
    -Ben-Oni means Son of my Trouble
    -Benjamin means Son of my Right Hand

  • @UniquelyShai

    I love what you said about change. When Jacob told his family to get rid of all of the foreign gods, I wondered why did he allow his household to have these foreign gods. But when he said to change your clothes that signified changing yourself. I also looked up what Rachel first-named Benjamin, she originally named him Ben-Oni which means son of my trouble but Jacob renamed him Benjamin which means son of my right hand. I just found that to be very interesting and cool. Finally, in my bible, it says in verse 23 he heard that Reuben slept with Bilhah. Which has me wondering what were the penalties that Reuben had to face? Plus how old is he because wouldn't the age difference between Reuben and Bilhah be very significant or is this like a normal situation?

    • @BibleBujo
      @BibleBujo  4 года назад +8

      Jacob wisely changed Benjamin's name just as he made the change in his heart toward God. It sounds like even though Jacob followed God, maybe he didn't lead the greatest example of God to his household as they clearly had false idols. Reuben and Bilhah probably had a significant age difference. I think that goes back to the poor example of Jacob in front of his household. They're a hot mess lol. BUT God uses Jacob in a mighty way so it gives me hope that He can use anyone!❤️

    • @Lmay1787
      @Lmay1787 2 года назад +2

      The penalty that Reuben had to face was in his blessing from his father. Instead of getting the firstborn blessing as he would have normally received in that day and age, his father passed him over because of his behavior.

    You mentioned not being sure about why Deborah's death was brought up. My study material mentioned that it is possibly because Rebekah sent Deborah to be a nurse for Jacob early on. It is also possible that she was sent with Jacob so that she could report back often about how Jacob was doing after he had left his home. I'm thinking she played a significant role in Jacob's life

    Also, I wanted to mention that it says in my Bible that Reuben slept with Bilhah as a play for power with his father. Like, saying, I got what you had. What are you going to do about it? In other words, it was kind of a threat or rebellion against Jacob.

    Rebekah died shortly after her nurse. In the original Greek it implied her death by words like Allon Bakhut (Allon-Bacuth) which pretty much translated to weeping for another. She died from depression really.

    God changes names because if you weren’t such a good spirit when you were (John) your new godly character is (Joseph) . So Jacob was a deceiver and austral is supposed to be the better side of Jacob. That’s just my take on it ! Love your studies ❤

  • @Sparifucile
    @Sparifucile Год назад +1

    why did God change names? From my studies, I've found that God changes names of people as a way to show them now walking within a new identity or His identity for them. In the case of Abraham and Sarah, that name change was a piece of the covenantal promise that God made with Abraham that, much like a marriage where the husband and wife adopt a unified name, God was giving a piece of His name to Abraham and Sarah. Aspects of God's name from the Hebrew, YHWH, was added to their names to show that He was a part of them/with them: Abram becomes AbraHam, Sarai becomes Sarah

    Maybe Jacob was referred to as Israel in that moment because God wanted show how he redeemed Jacob because Isaiah 43:1 says But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
