I noticed that Abraham told no one of what God commanded of him. I felt that if Sarah would have found out she might or probably would have steered his thought process, I guess you could say. So I guess what I'm saying is sometimes things should be between you and God and I love the fact that Abraham did that.
I absolutely agree that some things should stay between you and God. Sometimes people can shoot down the promise that God has given us - whether they do it intentionally or not.
This chapter really solidified the need to listen to God even when we don't want to. Often times we don't want to give up the very thing we need to but God will provide even more if we just listen and obey him.
I love the parallel you drew between God's sacrifice of Jesus and Abraham almost sacrifice of Isaac. I never connected the 2, but its so clever that you did. I'm learning that events in the old testament and the new testament certainly do reflect each other at times. It's so cool. Thank you for the insight!
Interpreting insights: Isaac was either a teenager or young man. He was strong enough to overtake Abraham if he wanted to, but he didn’t. Both Abraham and Isaac were following God’s command. Secondly, The ram with his horns stuck in a thicket is a mirror of Christ with his crown of thorns.
I never understood the bible until I started watching your videos. Thank you for breaking each chapter / verse down. My biggest take away from this video on Genesis 22 is God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son just to see if Abraham will disobey him. It was a test of faith and Abraham did not fail.
Something interesting I recently heard on this. Non believers will read this passage and say how cruel God is to make this man kill his only son but God stops him just before he is about to sacrafice his son. In reality God isn't cruel... Think what God just asked Abraham to do... Then realize what God had to do... God sacraficed his only son for us... He didn't stop at the last moment but He followed thru with it... so we can't image what Abraham was going thru and feel awful for him but God actually had to go thru with it and I don't think we feel as bad for God as we do for Abraham when we are reading this.. at least I didn't until this was pointed out to me. Just because He is God it doesn't make it any easier to have to follow thru with this. Ok enough rambling... Just wanted to share.
There was so much to take out of this scripture. This scripture mentions faith and obedience, which you stressed, and in some ways, they go hand in hand. It's easy to worship God when things are great. It's when things are bad, and that's where your faith gets tested if you are really dedicated to God or not. That was the objective of God testing Abraham, and Abraham passed with flying colors by being obedient towards God in forcing his own flesh and blood to be hung on the altar. I loved how you drew comparisons to Issac and Jesus being they were hung to the altar Bujo. Not only just but those two have something in common being they formed a symmetry in creating descendants. Genesis 22 highlights Abraham's scripture of Genesis 12-25.
I really liked this chapter and it's very hard to love the LORD first if he ever asked us to do things like this. From time to time you hear about people who murder their children "because the Lord told them to." I always thought God wouldn't ask us to but he did ask that of Abraham. Does he ever promise to never ask that pf somebody again? Or is the death of Jesus Christ the promise we will never have to make a sacrifice like that? And the people who do that today, are they crazy? Is it the devil doing this to them? Sorry for that deep rabbit hole thank you again for another great video.
I think deep down Abraham knew that God would not divert from his promise of many nations through Isaac. I do think the death of Jesus has paid a huge price for us. There are some mental health disorders that causes one to think that God wanted them to kill/harm others (look up religious grandiosity).

Hi just some background information 💕💕 • Isaac was probably not a child but a teen • it was not the same hill/mountain it was the same area so the same mountains. For where Isaac was to be a offering there is built a tempel by Solomon 2 Chronicles 3:1 Hope it helps I just found that out so I thought I shear lot of love
I keep reading people say "his only son" but it's not. It's the son of the spirit, but he has 2 at this point. We shouldn't call him his "only", but his "promised".

Your notes on Genesis are great. This is really helpful for me as I read along. So thankful for your insight!
I'm so glad you find it helpful!❤️
The part where Isaac ask for the lamb tightened my heart too😢

don’t delay obedience is super cool and relevant to me
