I had a really cool job driving across Canada. There were and probably still are places where it grows all the way to the horizon on both sides of the road. It's sort of a pretty plant. I was talking to a farmer whose canola field was accidentally flooded with crude oil. The oil company paid him full price for his crop and the full real estate value of his land, which he was allowed to keep. They also attempted to clean it up. The next year he decided to plant canola on the same land. To his surprise it grew almost twice the yield per acre as the rest of his farm.

I was in a supermarket last week looking for some Olive oil. On the shelf next to the Olive oil there were some bottles labelled "Extra Virgin Canola Oil". Figure that one out.
This is a blanket statement. Canola oils are processed and refined. But seed oils have been used since probably the beginning of time. It’s what processes is used. Seeds like sunflower, or nuts like peanuts and coconuts if they are cold pressed and not processed with chemicals still retain their oleics. So to says a blanket statement seed oils are not good is rather incorrect. What it comes down to is the method of processing.
Prior to agriculture about 12,000 to 6,000 to say 3000 years or more recently depending on which part of the planet people lived in we didn't have high amounts of seeds in our diets. Then in about 1890 or so we came up with cotton seed oil as a food product. Then in 1980 about we started demonize tallow and animal fat and the human consumption of seed oils greatly increased. I grew up in the 60's and we had very few fat kids in school. So with agriculture the amount of omega-6 oil in diet went up. Then in 1890 it went up a lot. Then in the 1980's it went up a hell of a lot.

Back home, if one of my parents dogs accidentally ate poison ( used a lot on the farms ), they would use 50/50 olive oil and water to force down the dogs throat. This is not true knowledge. Canola was not genetically modified to be low acid. It was a strain of rapeseed that was identified and the trait of low acid was encouraged through plant breeding.
I was studying international law when the Canadian government brought in a new law regarding genetically modified organisms. The government took years to formulate the details of the law; however, they added a provision that grandfathered in the canola organism as natural, even though it was a genetically modified version of rape seed.
I'm actually starting to wonder if the recent 25% increase in worldwide excess deaths that we're seeing is actually as a result of all the seed oil damage finally catching up with everyone, and not the "other thing" that we're not allowed to talk about.
They only lowered the Euric acid, not eliminated altogether. Still higher than mustard seed oil, which is band in USA for that reason. The doctors in Brazil still recommend it for heart patients like my mother in law.
Animal tallow was used as lubricant, not just vegetable oils. I guess beef fat is bad for you now because it can be used as a lubricant? What was the point in mentioning any of this?
BTW Why couldn't you show one single randomized trial or even a prospective cohort linking seed oils to ill health outcomes? Oh that's right it's because they're good for us.
Unlike industrially refined seed oils, tallow has been around as food not lubricant since the beginning of mankind, ultra-processed seed oils only for about a century.
Don't blame it all on Canada, in the 80s they had a lotof pressure from Cargill and ADM to test , refine the growing and marketing . I was there , so a lttle bit more research would be pertenent . Take care now .👃🏿
All the studies I'm looking at say the opposite and that ldl drops when consuming unsaturated fats like canola or vegetable oil as a replacement over butter and lard and that they contain useful compounds such as omega 3. Also if your story of Canada needing a quick way to replace demand for the dangerous version of canola oil by making it a food source is true then how do you explain the almost 40 year gap when they managed to genetically modify the canola oil? What did they do with all that supply in those 40 years?

I had a really cool job driving across Canada. There were and probably still are places where it grows all the way to the horizon on both sides of the road. It's sort of a pretty plant. I was talking to a farmer whose canola field was accidentally flooded with crude oil. The oil company paid him full price for his crop and the full real estate value of his land, which he was allowed to keep. They also attempted to clean it up. The next year he decided to plant canola on the same land. To his surprise it grew almost twice the yield per acre as the rest of his farm.

they even have people so ignorant they think veggy oil is differnet........
