WeeGee is my late husband. He would be so honored to have you listening for the first time. This was his passion.
🔥
From South Africa, I am 42, and my uncle still has the original lp.
Bless your heart. He was no joke. Gave David Ruffin of the Temptation a run for his money. Much props. Rest In HIS Eternal Peace William Wee Gee Howard 🙏💯
He was an awesome singer. Ashamed he passed so young. R.I.P. to him and the other 3 original dramatics. I believe there is only 1 original left
I was literally walking outside in the rain because I was feeling so lost and depressed and I decided to listen to this song as I was walking. Your husband's incredible vocals reached directly into my heart and gave me some real solace. Your husband and his group were among the musical giants and legends that defined the 70s and is the main reason why at least a part of me will always be lost in the 70s😊
Yes! Love these guys. The Five Stair Steps- Oooh Child is a great vibe ( Soul Train Performance).
"Oooh Child".⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@@user-ii4zf5iq3t Indeed!
An artist named Milck does a cover of *Ooh Child* I like very much...

@@stevenweller1673 Have to check it out.
@@stevenweller1673 Yes her voice is beautiful it’s more soothing than the original.
The Dramatics were one of the many great 70's male groups along with The Spinners, The Ojays, The Chi-Lites, The Stylistics, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, The Manhattans, The Whispers, The Temptations, The Delfonics, The Dells. You got to listen to Get Up Get Down by The Dramatics.
..... Tell it like is is.... 👍😎
@@davidbaker7096 it was literally the era of musical giants, legends! Will never see those days of greatness ever again!
Yes! those were the best groups.
All should have been in the rock hall of fame a long time ago!!!!
First!!...The Dramatics "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get"...Classic.
Isn’t it really something about the rain songs…they always want to go outside in the rain so no one will see them cry!
@@sheilameyers152 Speaking Of Which,, Oran "Juice" Jones "The Rain" (Official Music Video)
@@happymethehappyone8300 …yeah that was totally different maybe he’ll go out and cry after she leaves !
@@sheilameyers152 I'm Pretty Sure That She's The One Crying In The Rain In That One 😃
@@happymethehappyone8300 ….maybe not… she has another man perhaps he makes her happy!
The concept of this song, a man wanting it to rain because he doesn't want his love to see him crying, has been explored over and over in music. Two examples are The Temptations-I Wish it Would Rain and The Everly Brothers-Crying in the Rain. Check them both out!!
❤️❤️❤️ THE TEMPTATIONS!!! 👍😃❣️
The best of soul is what you have here in this 1972 song. Did very well on the charts that year. Their other song WHATCHA SEE IS WHATCHA GET is another winner. The sound affects of the rain and thunder ⛈ adds to the dynamics of this soul classics. When you think of pure soul classics listen to them from the 60's and 70's and you won't be disappointed.
Whatcha See .... Rocks.... Definitely try this one Rob Squad....
Please do whatcha see is whatcha get by the dramatic
Whatcha See a long with Be My Girl are my favorites by The Dramatics.
Amber catches everything.
@@davidbaker7096
How about Hey You Get Off My Mountain. And Me and Mrs Jones
“What You See Is What You Get”. It’s one of my top faves
I'd love to see you guys do Everybody Plays The Fool by the Main Ingredient. It's a soul classic with a great message.
One of the members of Main Ingredient is Cuba Gooding father of the actor.
@@rossdownes4240 Yes and I love his solo 80's song "Happiness Is Just Around The Bend". A little gem of a song from 1983. Actually I think it was a Main Ingredient song but he did a solo version I just enjoy.
@@lreed1040 How about "Power of Love" by Joe Simon?
Great classic!! Another one of theirs that's more funky and upbeat is "Whatcha See is Whatcha Get"!! Banger!!
Yes!! Love that one too!
The Dramatics..... The Spinners....The Stylistics....and The O'Jays own and ruled the Soul music 🎵 of the Early 70's. And now you are going to The Rabbit 🐇 Hole ⛳
Don't forget The Temptations! :)
You two dug some deep memories with this one. Not only the song, but I remember watching this episode of Soul Train. Wow, am I old.
And wise. I bet you probably still appear quite young and have a young heart ❤as well.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 Thank you Jackie. What a sweet comment.
The heart's not young but is has been broken and rebuilt a few times. Like an old car restored to factory new.
And watching and listening to these two seems to take 25-30 years off the calendar.
miss shows like this ... use to watch it on saturday mornings around 11am
Great!!! Dells, Delphonics, Stylistics… keep going down this rabbit hole
Yes! All those GREAT Philly groups 🎤 🎼
Basement music, slow dragging.
You don't even know how much "baby makin''" soul music came out in the 70's. It may well be the golden era of R&B groups, there were SO many classic songs that came out in this decade.
They have not reacted to Major Harris "Love Won't Let Me Wait" yet and what she reaches in that song. 🤭
@@lreed1040 True, they also haven't gotten to any Teddy Pendergrass solo stuff.
Lol... You ain't just whistling Dixie... And why so many covers and movies some of them were in as well... Good music never dies ... Becoming the soundtrack to our lives that we hopefully share and pass on
A real and true soul classic from one of my favorite guy groups ever. I'm in shock that this group and song is being played. Real soul music!!! Check out their cover of the classic by Billy Paul called "Me and Mrs. Jones" and "What You See is What You Get" plus a thousand more big soul hits.
Float on - Floaters - to hear each individual singer - unless you've already reacted to it - p.s. LOVE this reaction channel - you guys rock!
You are so right and the video because you put a face to the name
I been asking for a reaction on The FLOATERS song 'Float On' for awhile now.
@@salliemoore5472 I hope they considerate because that's a good one
Don't think they heard that yet... That song was awesome... It was even on one of those montage K-Tel albums, wasn't it.... Great track for sure
Yes! You finally got to this. Continue in this direction with the Stylistics, Spinners, The Delfonics, Barry White, Billy Paul, Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes, Temptations and so many others. I have to give a push for an early 60's song by The Flamingo's called "I Only Have Eyes For You" again. Thanks!
I see your groups and I'll raise you with The Main Ingredient, The Chi-Lites, Heatwave and Blue Magic.
@@ronnix23 Well I did not want to keep listing that is where the "So many others" came😀. We could keep going and keep raising each other. Like The O'Jays, L.T.D., Norman Conners, The Dells, Enchantment on and on and on. They could discover so many artists. How about some Floaters maybe they would like to "Float On" Lol. It is a great song. They would enjoy that one also.
@@ronnix23 I put Norman Conners there because one of my fav's by him is "You Are My Starship". Michael Henderson is doing the vocals but it's just and always will be wonderful.
You are ON POINT with these suggestions! Throw in the O'Jays and the Isley Brothers and the set is complete.
Always loved the effects in this song. For another sensual behind closed doors song... Check out "Love You Down" by Ready for the World.... Some 80s sultry soul. 😍
I know... There has been some killer soul put out over the years😎👍
J & Amber, you'll love their "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get"!!!
Also please listen to Toast To The Fool Who Let You Go
OMG, Be My Girl is my favorite.
Amber catches everything, nothing gets past her.🥰
P
Definitely Need to React to Their Song "Whatcha See is Whatcha Get" Another Classic by them.
Love! this song! Love your reactions! grew up with this music, brings back so many memories. suggest The Delfonics "La La means I love you" Thanks 😁 Peace! ☮
If you thinks that is great. Please react to the Dramatics " What you see is what you get " . It will blow you mind, it is also a Soul Train performance.
Here's a few more classic slow jams like this:
Black Ivory ~ You And I
Minnie Riperton ~ Inside My Love
Blue Magic ~ Sideshow
Marlena Shaw ~ Yu Ma/Go Away Little Boy
Johnny "Guitar" Watson ~ I Want To Ta-Ta You Baby
Sister Sledge ~ Somebody Loves Me
Johnnie Taylor ~ Your Love Is Rated X
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes ~ Be For Real
Bloodstone ~ Natural High
Dynamic Superiors ~ Shoe Shoe Shine (try to find the "Soul Train" performance)
Malo ~ Suavecito
New Birth ~ Forever
Sideshow for sure!
Shaft would be another great one 💗💗💗
Sideshowwwwwwww♥️
All great especially BLUE MAGIC AND THE DELLS
I agree with Minnie Ripperton la la la la la.
Taken Way Too Soon,, In Honor & Memory Of Him,, Jermaine Stewart "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" (Official Music Video)
...R.I.P. Jermaine 🙏 ❤
Wow this is a first for me . Never heard it, thanks for bringing me a new group.
70's R&B is THE BEST...PERIOD!😎
Have you listened to Aaron Neville? If not, a great song is “Tell It Like It Is.”
And if you haven’t heard Billy Stewart sing “Summertime” you are in for a treat. His stylings are out of this world!!!!
❤️❤️❤️AARON NEVILLE!!! have requested him several times 👍😃❣️
Yes Billy Stewart my all time favorite male singer. Does not get the recognition he so deserve. his singing stylings are so unique 👍🙂
Next song by the Dramatics should be "What you see is what you get". You'll love it.
Such a great, underrated and underplayed song. Another great rain song is I Wish It Would Rain by the Temptations.
Years later Keith Sweat, covered this. He did a great job. I didn't know it was a remake for years. Keith Sweat is another 80s R&B guy you should check out.
Yes yes yes Keith Sweat I love his version as well
Early 70's Soul was awesome! Such a unique sound that has never been matched since.
You should check out the stylistics “betcha by golly, wow”. Similar style but really good sound. The soul train video is good.
Want to try a rainy theme? Here's a start:
"Laughter in the Rain" - Neil Sedaka
"Rainy Days and Mondays" - The Carpenters
"Rainy Night in Georgia" - Brook Benton
"Lightning Strikes" - Lou Christie
"Rhythm Of the Rain" - The Cascades
"Rain on the Roof" - Lovin' Spoonful
nice! may i suggest Kissing Rain by Roch Voisine. Roch Voisine is from New Brunswick, Canada and has an unbelievable voice. i don't know where you live but Roch is really only big in Canada. Not many people know of him. he sings songs in english and french.
"Riders on the Storm" - The Doors
" Raindrops Keep Falling On my Head" - BJ Thomas
" I Wish It Would Rain" -The Temptations
"The Rain Song" - Led Zeppelin
" I Love a Rainy Night" - Eddie Rabbitt
"Walking In The Rain With The One I Love (featuring Barry White)-Love Unlimited "I Wish It Would Rain"-Temptations
"It's Raining Again"-Supertramp.
I'll Do My Crying in the Rain. The Every Brothers
Walking in the rain with the one I love -- Love Unlimited Orchestra ... Rainy night in Georgia -- Brook Benton... should be on your must list next time...
"People Make the World Go Round" by The Stylistics...
(or anything at all by The Stylistics) ...yeah, they're that good.
The Dramatics - The Stars In Your Eyes, Me And Mrs Jones, Hey You! Get Off My Mountain & Shake It Well Are some of their many hits.
Prince has the ultimate slow jam….ADORE
You must react to The Dells hit "Stay In My Corner" , just amazing 👏🏼
1970’s R&B was some of the best music ever released. I remember all of them, the words too! ❤️😁
This song from the 70’s has the same subject of the 1960’s classic “ I wish It Would Rain” by The Temptations, about a man who is crying from his broken relationship and wants to be out in the rain so people won’t be able to see a grown man cry. Both songs are classics.
Blue Magic "Sideshow"...A Soul Classic.
This is a classic. Bring back some wonderful memories. Check out a group called GQ the song is "I do love you"
I love that song!
@@peanutbutter35 me too That's the best song to two step off of. And the song by Delegations "Oh honey"
Stop it! You're taking me back to high school! 😁
Great song! The Dramatics formed in Detroit under the volt ABC record label .recorded at Chess records and later joined MCA records Music Corp of America. They the group were never part of Motown records And they have more of a romantic Philly sound .there have been many members of this group but always to me had a romantic soul sound . thank you Look in to the Philly groups there are many i do not want ya,ll to skip over them. it is great music. Thank ya'll for playing these groups they are missed.
They recorded on stax label not chess
Is the jam and this is one of the great R&B groups of the 70s, continue to go down this rabbit hole it’s worth it
Yes cover of this song if you want to react to a cover is by Keith sweat, and the song is in the rain. I love the dramatic version this is the first love for me, but I must admit he did it well
One of the first groups I fell in love with. This is from the era when R&B song writers and singer weren't afraid of love songs that treated women with respect.
Not a Motown group but still great! Baby making music? I dont know about that. Song is sad, not sensual 😂 Jays not really complaining about this one being slow ☺ other great "not motown" groups from this era i think you will enjoy are The Stylistics, The Chi-lites and Blue Magic "You make me feel brand new" by The Stylistics is a good starting point. ❤you guys ☺
Keith Sweat did a great cover of this song on his Make It Last Forever album!
My sister saw The Dramatics at an outdoor concert back in the 70s. As soon as the lead singer sang I want to go outside in the rain, the skies opened up with torrential downpours and everyone had to make a run for it! 😂
If you return to Aretha Franklin in the future please consider her 70's songs "Day Dreaming" and "Until You Come Back To Me". Since you are listening to 70's r&b and soul these two are great songs by her. They seem to stay under the radar these days. Yes her late 60's songs are classics and their favorites of mine also but I do truly enjoy these two as well. I feel the both of you will also. Give them a listen they are both wonderful. In another comment I mentioned The Delfonics. Their songs "La-La Means I Love You" and "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time) are staples to hear when going down this road. Major Harris who was a member of that group had a solo 1975 song that is also a classic called "Love Won't Let Me Wait" please don't pass up this Baby Maker of a Masterpiece song.
Just love when youngins finally hear our music.
Y'all need to react to Lenny Williams "Cause, I Love You". This song will have the 2 of you take a timeout. A very happy timeout.
The Dramatics..one of the greatest R&B groups ever. Snoop thinks they are the greatest of all time, he loves them that much. They do the background on his song It's A Doggy Dog World. I'm glad y'all finally reacted to them
Gotta give The Dramatics huge hit Whatcha See Is What You Get!
You can’t beat classic 70’s soul🎶
Amber and Jay, I’m so happy you love one of my all-time favorite songs. This song inspired me to write poetry about the rain. ✌️🎶💙
Another who sings this song is Keith Sweat. His version is the first before I heard the original (this one) and to me they both sound great.
Oh my gosh, TOTALLY forgot about this song. Love it!! 🫶🏼💋
Maybe the most underrated R&B group ever. When you hear them, you're hooked.
You should also check out The Moments, particularly "Love On A Two Way Street."
Yep another group that needs more play or should I say need play don't think anyone has reacted to them yet One of my all time favorite groups ☺️
GODDESS....I have loved this song since it came out.
You both NEED to listen to the STYLISTICS. The smooth voices and the harmonizes mmmmmm
Wait til you hear, “what cha see, is what you get!” Awesome!!!!
LOVE this song and video. Just the expression on his face when he sings. The suits they wear. The dancing. This is gold. I listen to it over and over again. I was so excited when I saw you guys had reacted to this. My playlist has increased volumes since I started watching you guys. Thank you
OMG, never thought I'd listen to this song here! My teenage days...Thank you!
Next, Stylistics, please!
Great selection. Always enjoy see Soul Train from the 70s! A part of my childhood growing up.
Never heard of this band or song so I'm excited and ready to expand my horizon of music with the RSR Fam
This is when every piece of music was a work of art. The dancing and coordinating that went into these performances was just amazing. The Motown groups were very under appreciated. How about checking out some Smokey Robinson? 🌺✌️
❤️❤️❤️ SMOKEY ROBINSON!!! 👍😃❣️
Wow ! Haven't heard this in decades. thank you two !!
If my memory serves me correctly, Motown didn’t want to record this group because they had the temptations. They missed out on this group.
The Dramatics was that group, I can't get over you, was one of my favorite.
This song is terribly under rated. Sweet soul for millllllles!
This is absolute fire. Baby making, you say. Try one of the following: The Delfonics - Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time),
The Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New,
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes (of whom you've reacted to before) - If You Don't Know Me By Now
Philly soul is to die for.
Stylistics
You have to do Marvin Gaye Distant Lover in concert
Hi guys, great choice!
The Dramatics, man you can't go wrong!
I like this version, lead vocals by Wee Gee. He did a remake of this song after leave the group, I still have the 12" single. You should try Be My Girl from the Joy Ride album, released in 1976, lead vocals by Ron Banks (falsetto) and the powerful voice of L.J. Reynolds.
RIP to Wee Gee Howard, Ron Banks, Lenny Mayes, Willie Ford.
you guys are killing it with your videos. lovin it.
Thanks for doing this song, I haven’t heard this in years and I forgot how this song is great
The early 70's Soul genre is so unbelievably deep with amazing songs. Every time I play a little game in my head of ..if I can ever hear only one song from the genre, this is the one that tops the list almost every time. Followed closely by any number of Stylistics tunes or The Chi-Lites or The Main Ingredient (just Don't Want To Be Lonely)...So glad you got to this song. Just a note, this song was released on the Stax label and not Motown. the Soul Train performance certainly has a Motown feel though
Love the Dramatics. Check out their upbeat song entitled ' Whatcha See is Whatcha Get'
"Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" is more up-tempo but very, very good...!!
You guys faces when the music starts is EPIC! 👏👏🔥😄😜
"In the Rain" was on the charts when I was 11. About 10 years ago there was a commercial for a "70's Soul Collection."They played just a little bit of this song and I almost fell over. I hadn't heard it in so many years.
Another Soul music sensation! What a feeling this song evokes! The storm and sound effect at the start really sets the vibe and mood! The" rain" masks the pain within. And that ending is a soulful classic!! The Dramatics, one of the many SUPER Soul groups of the 1960s and 70s.
One of the finest sweet soul groups of the early '70s -- probably the biggest group from Detroit to *not* be signed to Motown. Before you move on from the Dramatics, be sure to listen to their first big hit from a year earlier, "Whatcha See is Whatcha Get." It's a faster, funkier jam -- you're gonna love it!
Yes baby
Thanks to whoever requested this. Nice discovery
Uh oh!! Old school! You will also like Hey You, Get Off My Mountain, Toast To The Fool, Get Up Get Down, Ocean of Thoughts and Dreams. They also sang on Snoop Dogg's "Doggy Dogg World".
Here are some great Motown song styles that really fit in with The Dramatics: 1) The Styistics - ** Betcha By Golly Wow ** Stop Look Listen **
** You Make Me Feel Brand New ** You Are Everything **
2) Al Green - Show And Tell
3) The Chi-Lites - Oh Girl
Enjoy!
They were Stax, not Motown, although they were form Detroit and modeled themselves after the Temptations. The other big hit to listen to was their first one, Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get. That was a common expression in 1971.
Dramatics rabbit hole includes “What You See Is What You Get”, “Hey, You Get Off My Mountain” “Get Up, Get Down”
Wow I haven't heard that song in ages. I use to go to sleep late at night on the weekend listening to soul music stations out of Atlanta. It was so damn good. We just don't get great music like this anymore.
Whatcha see is whatcha get....great Dramatics song!
Another great reaction, thank you. If you liked this check out, 'The Floaters - Float On', you won't be disappointed.
If you want to hear an amazing female voice, listen to The 5th Dimension (Marilyn McCoo) "One Less Bell". Marilyn is fantastic!!!
Agreed 😋✌️♥️
That was a remake, but her voice knocked it out of the proverbial park😎
Gonna see her and Billy later this month. Can't wait
Love The Dramatics!!! So good.
I listened to this song in the 70’s l loved it! 👍
It's good to see you YOUNGSTAZ acknowledge and show some appreciation for the DRAMATICS & this level of R&B street conna Vocals, keep on listening cause you just scatcthed the surface, The 70s were such good times the best is yet to come
Enchantment is another Motown group from this time. Gotta listen to Sunshine and It’s You That I Need!
This is CHi-Town bass!!!, Great reaction.
If you are about 50 years old,...you were made with this song.
Now that you’ve done this one, and CCR’s Who’ll Stop The Rain, you have to do “ I Wish It Would Rain” by the Temptations! Find an old, live video of them doing it👍
This is pure skrunking music! Two adults, under the sheets just doing it with no regards to anything else, except each other!
The Stylistics~~ Betcha By Golly Wow.... You Make Me Feel Brand New... Break Up To Make Up...You Are Everything...
Watch The Dramatics on Soul Train sing the song "What You See Is What You Get" -- it is FANTASTIC, the song, and their performance!
