just realized how beautiful it is when Tifa is asking Aerith about how Cloud is, and instead Aerith asking Tifa how she's holding up. Aerith is so sweet like telling Tifa "you're always caring about everyone, what about you?" and Tifa being flustered that someone asked her if SHE was okay. The friendship is so sweet. I love these two women!

Yeah I hated how people reduced Aerith and Tifa only to their relationship with Cloud. Both women are more than their relationship with Cloud and both would be fine with out him in their lives. Neither would break down and crumble away if he chose one women over the other. They'd sad but they'd get over it and move on.
Sadly it used to be that whenever either of these women were brought up, at least 80% of the content was about Cloud. There needs to be a challenge where people talk about these women without mentioning Cloud once.

Aerith and Tifa's friendship was something I was interested to see expanded on, because they did have a some low-key sisterly moments in the original, if you payed attention (like, you'd see them sitting at a table and chatting in Cosmo Canyon, and Tifa breaks down crying if you're there for Aerith's death, and all that). So I was wondering if we'd see more of that, and we do indeed.

If they had that father-daughter esque relationship, which, yeah, they made a point to show that here, + had a kick-ass boss fight showing that they know how to work together

The Tifa/Aerith friendship is one of many things about the original game's story material that benefits greatly from putting the game "under a microscope" like this and expanding the screen-time devoted to smaller details and interactions.
I would love to see the Cloud and Tifa relationship get expanded on, and for Cloud and Tifa to develop a romantic relationship in the new few installments to the remake series.

They did a really good job with Aerith and Tifa's voice actresses
Was initially an all-for-Tifa person but as I progress the game, the more I adore Aerith. Really love the sisterly moments they had especially in the "Haunted" Chapter when Aerith protected Tifa and kept her behind herself. I just went "awwwwww" Another highlight was when Cloud/Tifa found her just as she was about to get instilled with fear. They both have similar qualities in which they are both kind and gentle, and they see values in each and every living beings.

I think a lot of people overlook the fact that Cloud isn't the only member of the party who falls in love with Aerith. They pretty much all do. Cloud and Tifa fall in love with her charms (Cloud in love love), Barrett loves the sweet girl who saved his daughter, Marlene instantly was comfortable around Aerith, the damn Turks even are pretty attached to her (I'm sure this will be expanded on), Red loves the other person who is the last of her race.
I think in remake it's important to not over emphasize the love plot with just Cloud.

The original sort of made them rivals that get jealous when the other got to spend time with Cloud, they were still friends, but they definitely had a rivalry between them. The REMAKE, however, makes them ACTUAL friends, it's just so pure and loveable!

With all the love triangle BS the original had we forgot how Tifa and Aerith became best friends in that story (and the remake did a good job showing that), I think Tifa was the character that suffered her death the most, even more than Cloud.
No, the original made pretty clear that while all of them felt her loss, Cloud was the most affected by far. His scene after she died was extremely powerful, and in Advent Children he's the one who's still deeply mourning her and Zack, while the others (including Tifa), still remember her fondly, but have largely moved on.
They were good friends in the original too, but let's not exaggerate for no reason please. Cloud is still closer to both of them than they are to each other.
@@jackjacques7495 That's because he blamed himself for her death. I think they all mourned her equally, but they didn't blame themselves. They knew how to move on, but Cloud was stuck. That's why AC was about Cloud forgiving himself and receiving a cure.

@@jackjacques7495 In novel On the Way to A Smile (Case of Tifa), Tifa cries over Aerith more than Cloud initially. Cloud started feeling guilty about Aerith's death only after Elmyra sent him flowers to be put in Aerith's grave. This happened after Cloud-Tifa have established the delivery service company and having new home at midgar (this was several months after the end of FF7 game). Before that, Cloud seemed to be quite happy and not showing any feeling related to Aerith at all.
In The Kids are Alright, the way Tifa describes Aerith is "Friend doesn't do her justice". She spoke about Aerith in a much more positive way than Cloud ever did about Aerith.
Yes, Cloud cried in AC. But well, he cries because he feels guilty for not being able to save Aerith (he literally said to Aerith "I let you die" in that movie). He also feels guilty about Zack. Before that, he also feels guilty about Tifa's accident in Nibelheim. Cloud feels guilty because he himself is softie inside and Aerith herself was not really the trigger.
In Remake (at least in this part), Cloud was cold and dismissive towards Aerith. Their relationship is far from being romantic and even from the friendship perspective, Cloud is barely a friend to Aerith in this Remake Part I, and the interactions between them are mostly the results of Aerith coercing herself into Cloud.
There are some moments where Cloud appeared to suddenly soften up in a strange way to Aerith like in Chapter 8 (Language of Flowers), 9 (playground scene) and 14 (Aerith's resolution). But this is the result of Cloud overthinking when talking to Aerith and cannot find the right distance with her (according to Nomura and Nojima, I have read the interview translation). Cloud has already softened up to Tifa since the very beginning and also to Biggs and Jessie. Nothing special in his mellowing parts to Aerith.
Yes, Cloud wants to save Aerith from Shinra's building ASAP (he worked for Shinra before anyway so he knew Shinra wouldn't treat Aerith as well as Elmyra thought). But he also disagrees about Tifa going to Corneo's mansion alone. He literally begs Barret to not join him in fighting Rufus and just get out of the building (probably because he was shocked seeing Barret literally stabbed by Sefie before Jenova battle and didn't want Barret to be injured again). Cloud's concern about Aerith here is not really different from his concerns to other party members.
Cloud-Aerith dynamic is not special and eye-catching in Remake part I.
By contrast, Tifa-Aerith relationship is stronger and far more organic compared to Cloud-Aerith relationship. Square Enix has even written an article about the girls being BFF in Remake.
I wonder whether Cloud was really emotionally close to Aerith like many FF7 fans say.

you have no idea how happy this makes me. even when i was like 6 when the original came out, i could tell they were close friends. i've NEVER pinned them against eachother. im in the "cloud loves them both" camp. so to see the remake expand on their friendship, i was about to cry during those scenes.
I LOVE THEIR FRIENDSHIP because it would have been so easy to throw a ton of tension between Tifa and Aerith considering how theyre kind of the two main potential love interests for Cloud... so there could have been a sense of competition between them. and of course there wouldnt have been anything WRONG with that, but that troupe is so overused. so I just love their bond so much.

What's missing from this video: Tifa saving Aerith from being lazered by the ghost horseman, Tifa telling the ghost horseman to go to hell and doing her somersault limit break, Tifa revealing to Aerith's mom that Aerith also reached out to her when she was captured by Shrina (not just Cloud) and the beginning of Chapter 17 when Tifa defies fate and the planet they seek to save to save Aerith when she pulled Aerith away from the whispers. I def ship these two.

For all my criticisms with the Remake I adored how they expanded on this friendship and showed they weren't just love rivals like how some people unjustly and simply see them as
I agree it shows that cloud wasn’t the only one that lost something. They all did, Tifa lost a friend and someone she grew to love.
I've recently been playing Witcher 3 and I just see a lot of parallels with Cloud and Geralt:
*Both are amnesiacs
*Both have a significant black haired girl from their past
*Both have a new red girl (hair or clothes) putting moves on them
*Both have their eyes remarked by others a lot
*Both are part of an enhanced warrior regiment
I know it's a shallow comparison but I couldn't help seeing a pattern here.

Aerith is just the sort of person you can't help but love. Her cheerfulness and upbeat attitude is infectious, but unlike some people who just put it on as a front, Aerith genuinely cares for others and wants to help them, so there's a genuineness to her that you can't help but admire and bond with. Others have commented about how everybody so far likes Aerith; the only thing that gets Tifa grumpy at Aerith is the fact that Cloud and Aerith obviously have a mutual attraction thing going. At the same time though, despite her own attraction to Cloud, Aerith seems all too aware of Tifa's feelings for Cloud. The "follow your heart" line, coupled with the Aerith vision later (the one with "You can't fall in love with me") suggests to me that Aerith knows her own death is fated, and she's trying to step back and not interfere with Cloud and Tifa so she won't hurt either of them, even if Aerith finds herself wishing for a future otherwise.
Zaxares exactly, I would love to not only see Cloud and Tifa’s relationship expand, but for Cloud and Tifa to develop a romantic relationship in the remake series
@@Andrewweiland4509 That's right. I'm ok with the idea that Cloud had feelings for Aerith even after her death. What really bothered me, especially in FF VII AC was that it never showed if Cloud and Tifa ever started dating or confirmed their feelings for one another. I just need a simple kiss or "I love you". Just something that confirms their love.
