I still remember how crushed we all were by the loss of both the S800 and the Legacy during the streams. You managed to claw it back and bring us an enjoyable series to watch. Thank you Yellowbird
What I love about randomizer is that you are more happy to win a Dodge pick-up truck than a Le Mans race car, just for the purpose of winning more events.
Me getting crazy over the battle of the two 500 was the best. I knew from the start that the F had the soul of the winner. The L in 500L stands for Loser
My math could be off but going off the list of eligible trucks for the sports truck race (that being 5 total trucks) and the 721 cars in the game, that would mean the chance of getting a truck as a prize would be about 0.6% and the chance of getting 2 trucks would be about 0.004%. This corresponds to about a 1 in 25000 chance of happening, which given that there are 166 prize cars total you can obtain from any GT4 save, good luck getting this to happen again while also getting the Kei cars and boxer engines
It's actually a 0.69% chance per event. Over 166 events, this works out to 114.5% chance of getting a truck (of course, that assumes all prizes are reachable). It's basically guaranteed. But getting 2 trucks is a 0.79% chance. So it's actually more likely to get 2 trucks across all events than getting a truck on any single event.
I would do this with the caveat I AM allowed to buy a boxer and a truck lmao, I would HATE playing for possibly hundreds of hours only to find out that there isn't actually one of either...
It would not be in spirit of challenge but it is what it is and understandable. Same can apply to trying to beat the game with used cars. Although with this mod you can use the daihatsu midget and it is apparently very competitive despite the low power due to light weight. But without mod yea you have to buy a truck
You really seem to underestimate the effects that Nitrous has on cars, when it's one of the most OP upgrades you could possibly get because of how it makes the cars behave in GT4! The moment you tap the nitrous, the car juts forwards a tiny bit, which, combined with throttling, lets you cancel sliding and body roll without needing to tune suspension or anything, allowing you to go through winding corners at much higher speeds, while also giving you a good boost on the straights or corner exits. You wouldn't have lost almost any cars if only you had that single upgrade, which is just sad. As for GTRs, the R34 "Nur Spec" is hands down one of the most OP non-LMP cars in the game, amazing tyre wear, insane power, higher than average downforce and one of the highest grip modifiers in the game along with ATESA for some incredible cornering ability, while being one of the best offroad cars after downforce increase! The "II" version trades 1 point of grip modifier (so 102 instead of 103 grip that the "I" version has) for a significant weight reduction on top, making it even better despite being over a ton!
I don't underestimate it. I enjoy having balanced races, what's the point of a challenge if I cheese through everything? Other people do that already, not in this channel. Also, the '00 Skyline has similar stats and it's lighter than the Nur Spec II, so it was a better choice.
@@YellowbirdYTIf you want that level of challenge, you could just not upgrade at all lol There's challenging and there's masochism. I often use the nitrous to cancel slides or body rolls instead of using it on straights, saves money on other upgrades and time by not needing suspension tuning. As for the GTR, the '00 has "similar" stats, but has slightly worse tyre wear, or more like uneven without tuning, and hits less BHP than the "Nur" ones (846 vs 865, which can be noticable if you use it for World Championship, especially on that round track that's 21 or whatever laps).
I think you're a bit mixed up on which R34 is which. The '00 GT-R has the same 102 grip modifiers as the V-spec II Nur (which I think you're talking about? But that gets 899hp, not 865) but is lighter and has a wider torque curve. It works out to be easier on tyres overall, and it's especially better in rally where it has all upsides and peak power isn't a concern.
@@TeaKanjiAre we talking about 899 with or without "new" oil? Was using your tuning spreadsheet for the BHP. Maybe I mixed up which of the '00 ones he meant, more than one because this game has far too many GTRs! Btw, thanks for the info the other time during my stream, but wanted to ask you one more thing and couldn't whisper on Twitch. Is heavier or ligher better for dirt/snow? Have the issue of awful controller, so I can only do full or no throttle and most cars (even
@@tho_tho No worries, yeah the V-spec II Nur gets 899hp after an oil change and original turbo. I think I need to revisit that tune actually, I only use the stage 3 turbo for the V-spec II Nur while I use the original turbo for the others. Generally, less weight is better on dirt/snow yeah, as it means the car has way less inertia while braking and turning and is much easier to maneuever. It's a big reason why the Elise 111R is surprisingly good, despite being disadvantaged as an MR. However, there's an important stat called "yaw" that's based on the car's base weight and goes down with weight reductions. Less yaw makes the car easier to turn, but also causes it to feel more floaty and imprecise until you stiffen the springs and/or stabilisers. Adding a ballast doesn't affect yaw, so there's a difference between doing, say, only two weight reductions for a weight of 1250kg, vs. three for 1200kg, then adding a 50kg ballast afterwards. Ballast will help reduce wheelspin for most front-heavy 4WD's if you put it at 50 balance, and I usually go for between 20 - 80kg depending on the car. It also mainly comes down to the car's gear setup though, as the stock gears are way too short for most cars and you can optimise them by doing the gear trick and making the ratios from 2nd to 6th really close, then using 1st only for tight hairpins and 2nd for wider corners where you prefer to hold traction.
This inspired me to try in a different racing game. But you know what? It's not possible anymore. Like on Forza Motorsport (2023) there isn't enough of a career to justify this. GT7 it's not possible due to the structure of the career and how cars are earned. You could probably do Fm 4 3 or 2. However, I believe only 2 has a similar enough structure to pull this off. Can't do this with AC. Gt3 and 4 are so unique for their career structure.
For those who are curios what are the chances for a prize car only playthrough to be impossible because of a pickup truck I did the calculation. First, there are about 720 cars in the game and 5 of them are the pickup trucks. The randomizer mod also allows the Daihatsu midget so 6 cars from 720. So, for one prize car there is a 0.83% chance for it to be a pickup truck. Second, I need to figure out how many prize cars there are. After removing the manufacturer, extreme hall and GTWC and Pickup Truck Series prizes I am left with roughly 100 prize cars. This number may be slightly smaller or bigger depending on your luck with manufacturer races and regional events. Now I can calculate what is the chance for one of the 100 prize cars to be a pickup truck. There is a 56.54% chance to get at least one pickup truck per playthrough. So, for every random seed, there is about 50% chance the run is not possible with only prize cars. I also did a prize car only playthrough and I got 2 pickup trucks in mine! The chances for that to happen in a playthrough is 15.07%.

It was a wild ride.
Why u gotta spoil man

Literally. It's funny how you always find some sort of competitive race car, so they aren't as impressive. Such are the odds.

You can fill up a big warehouse with all the Skylines you've gotten lmao, this was fun to watch 👍
My car hoarding dreams have been fulfilled (in Gran Turismo 4)
It feels like a real Nuzlocke. The randomness of those prizes are fun to watch
Yeah the randomizer adds that encounter element which would be missing otherwise.
My favorite GT4 challenge video/series yet, keep it up YB
Thanks! Always new ideas in the works.

I was getting quite desperate really.
Cant wait for the streams to continue.
Should get back into routine this week.

Funny you say about the trucks. When I recently randomized GT4, I ended up with a Dodge Ram by silver-ing IA license 😮
That is fortunate!
@@YellowbirdYT Shame that my grand prize for GT World Championship was a Honda CRX 😅
New hour long yellowbird video hell yeah
Longest I ever made, for now. This run was full of good material.

I used Nenkai's save editor for GT4, should be on Google!
