      😊😁 Not that I know, but my grandfather that I do not remember, he died when I was very young. Was a barber , back when real straight razors were used by barbers. And shaving was their main business.
      Maybe I got a bit of skills from him..
      But I think it just needs practice !
      And I got a lot of practice !
      Cheers my friend, and thanks for stopping by !

      There's a lot of great videos here on youtube.. My advise is try everything for yourself, do not believe on everything you hear, what works for me, might not work for you. And vice versa..
      Let me know if you need any help on your straight razor journey!
      Cheers !

      @@pedrotrust I already bought a Yaqi moka 26 after you mentioned the brand in one of your videos, a great brush! Yes, learning and experimenting from different sources is helping me a lot. Can you recommend any online shops in Portugal for shaving materials like creams or is amazon.es/ebay the best option?

    Such a uncannily fast professional shave ! And I totally agree with you, iam a newbie on my 40th straight razor shave, bought several makes of new razor, not one was properly shave ready, Boker especially poor. Luckily I have a 15,000 grit stone and T. I. strop paste. Increadably inspiring video! A goal to aim for !

      Hello, sorry, only saw your comment today.
      1k naniwa pro to set the bevel,
      5k shapton korumaku,
      Japanese natural , first with slurry made with a diamond plate.
      Finish with water only.
      I use mainly x strokes and some circles on the jnat slurry.
      1 layer of tape.
      Strop on linen and leather.
      You can check my videos, i show exactly what I do.. 😉

    As always you make it look super easy. I use the Feather Artist SS which I’m getting quite good at using, but thinking of purchasing a full on straight razor that requires honing and stropping. What would you recommend?

    • @pedrotrust
      @pedrotrust  4 года назад +1

      Since you're already using a feather ss, the transition should be easier..
      Buy something you like, new I can recomend the brand Revisor , they make super nice looking blades with good quality !
      Or search for a used vintage one, if you're member of a shaving group , ask for one shave ready, from someone that hone is razors.
      If you buy a new one most likely you need to send it to someone to hone.
      You also have the option of a custom made by a artisan like Drew Dick, Kym Mathias from k.m designs , etc..
      Get yourself a good quality strop.
      After some time you can start honing.. ;)
      Cheers ! Thanks for stopping by !

    Hi Pedro, Great shave. Boker Classic vs Boker Stainless Steel (with Olive Wood handle). Which one do you prefer and did you use 'Boker King Cutter ?

    • @pedrotrust
      @pedrotrust  3 года назад

      Hi !
      I've had couple of vintage king cutter's.
      Great razors !
      The new ones are ok, but nothing g special. I wouldn't buy a new one honestly.
      Between the classic carbon steel and the stainless it's a difficult choice, both have pros and cons. But I could only have one it would be the classic. It just takes a better edge...
      Thanks for watching !

    Great shave. That razor has a nice feedback. When it comes to straight razors what type if grind do you prefer? Hollow? Wedge? Greetings from Budapest, Hungary

    • @pedrotrust
      @pedrotrust  4 года назад

      I like extra hollow especially on a big blade over 7/8.
      On a smaller blade like this usually I prefer a heavier grind like Near Wedge or Quarter Hollow..
      To be honest I like them all, as long as the edge is good.
      But 90% of my razors are full hollow, I like the sound and feedback, it's all part of the fun !
      Cheers, take care !👍

    Your usual shave with poor technique and preparation and lack of skill. Well done. i adopted that sideswipe on the chin myself just cos i like to bleed.
    Seriously, most straight razors are nothing like shave ready - and that's really hard for a beginner that has no idea and cannot hone, yet you get people saying you can buy a blade for, $11. Using and honing one, priceless.

      😂.. Thanks !
      That's why I always say, make sure the razor is honed properly.
      That's the most important step for a beginner.
      Otherwise the chances of give up are very high !
