I don't think I've seen a video from you where I haven't learned something new. Thank you Chris :) You really are one of the most knowledgeable people in the field. 7:50 bless you!
This video is perfect. My xt2 frequently chooses the wrong face to focus on. I never figured out how to change the focus. Super educational. Thank you so much!
Another great video, i just finished a photographing a couple shoot and I was using the 56mm f1.2 on my xt4 & the 23mm f1.4 on an xt3, now unless your up close! Around 15-20feet or closer, forget about face/eye detect! Probably only worked 20-30percent of the shots, I kept having to turn it off all the time as it trying its little heart out but failing dismally when I would take a few steps back to get a better composition or similar. I think Fuji have a lot of work to do here.
I have an XT-20 and plan to shoot portraits, some very close and some farther away. My aim is to capture more abstract facial images. There will not always be a 'face' per see for the focusing system to 'find'. But at least one, usually two eyes will always be in the frame. Will the eye detection work in this case? Thanks
Could you please tell me exactly where to find the "FACE SELECT ON" command in the custom button settings screen (when you press & hold DISP/BACK?) on an X-T5? On page 3/10 , I see FACE DETECTION ON/OFF and RIGHT/LEFT EYE SWITCH, but no FACE SELECT option. Thanks for your videos. This has been super helpful.
Thanks. You mentioned group of people front and back. In this situation I always screwed up a shot, as Fuji focused on one face but not the other one. How should I solve this problem ? Thank you very much if you can reply
Hi Chris. How to make face/eye focus on multiple faces in a shot.or do these cameras can focus on only one face all the time. Your video is very informative. Can you please clarify this point. Thank you
Thank you for the tutorial! Is the "face select" a feature only a feature of the XT-4? I don't find it as an option in the menus of my XT-3. Am I overlooking it?
Thanks again for another wonderful Fujifilm video. I am joining the Fuji film club next month. Maybe a video of the very first things to do when you get a Fuji camera.
Thanks Chris for this video. Very instructive. One question. If face select automatically starts face detection, is it no more convenient to assign this to a function button in stead of face detection itself?
I really hope Fujifilm improves their face/eye auto detect to be on par with the Sony, Canon, and Nikon systems. I really hope they add animal eye auto detect too.
Great video! I have my XT3 set for back button focus. Does the face eye AF work the same way with BBF as you described using the 1/2 shutter press? Thanks
great clear video im concerned but only hear from comments about being able to use the touch screen feature to tell the camera where to focus (like to refocus or correct focus when the camera cant find the face) in your tutorial about shooting movie i hope you can add this topic as well to confirm or maybe there's more things I still dont know. ( at least mention which fuji camera has it)
Thanks man, this was SO useful. Eye-AF has been baffling me, especially with the face select (which IMO should be the default mode). It seems I have to turn it on everytime too. I put it as a screenswipe but sometimes it all fails on me during a shoot. I had it just now - swiping to the left but it didn't register. I should use my custom button for Eye-AF-select to be sure and safe, I guess.
I was applying some things I learned with focus mode from one of your videos on the X-t3. Amazing video! I’m having a problem though when it’s really funny outside my Fujifilm starts struggling to focus and won’t lock focus of anything. Is there a fix to that or is it just the camera? I have a white dog that I take pictures of and when it’s sunny I have to underexpose to get her lit correctly and not over expose her fur. Still, even under exposing at harsh sunlight it struggles to lock focus. Please help 😞
Thanks for this! Quick question - would you use this for street photography? How fast is this compared to say, zone focusing as a technique when you are among lots of people who are walking about?
mr. pal2tech I'm considering buying an X-T3 but I don't know whether my graphics card can handle editing 4k 10bit 400mbps 30fps video. Do you know where from can I download a sample to try to edit it and see how my computer deals with it?
Brilliant video possibly your best yet thanks. Two quick things what lens have you got on the camera and a daft one where did you get the soft shutter release from 🤦🏻 Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice video. Just curious, you use the menu a lot why not use the Q menu to access the features? Many of the features you use the main menu for can be found in the Q menu.
LOL, honestly, I'm still trying to FIGURE OUT the Q menu. I'll probably need to actually do a video on it because it's such a mystery to me with the BASE and C1, etc.
@@pal2tech "Base" is a misnomer - it just means "current settings are those from the C number below". But this is very confusing if you are on the C1 settings!
I’ve finally figured out the Q menu, but I would encourage you to make a video about it. I think Fuji needs to do some human factors on the Q. It seems to me it is not all it could be, but I do believe it has great potential.
Hi! Hoping that someone can answer my question. I'm using Fujifilm x-a3 and want to turn on the eye detection, but I can't select it. Does it have any restrictions? Thank you!
Thank you so much for all of your videos. They’re really helpful :). I was wondering if you, or anyone else in the comments, might have a solution to an issue that I’m running into with focus on my x-t4. I actually just noticed this issue tonight when I was playing with the camera. When I don’t have face eye auto detect on, my camera will not focus on any objects within a range of about 5 feet or closer. However, when I turn face eye detect on, it will focus on those same objects up to about a foot away (using both the sigma 18-35 and kit lens 18-55). I’m not sure what the cause of this is and hope that it’s not the camera being faulty. I did a factory reset to see if maybe it was a glitch of some sort, but the issue is still persisting. It’s just so weird because I have it off and can’t focus on a subject relatively close. Keep the camera in the same position, but turn on face eye auto detect and it focuses right away. I’ve also tried this in continuous and single modes. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance!
question: Though shooting for decades, I am relatively new to Fuji cameras, starting with the X30, then XT3, and now just getting the XT5. Love these cameras, but still trying to process the intricacies of the many AF modes and options, particularly Face/Eye detectiion. I was puzzled that I couldn't control metering using eye AF, but then watched this video to learn that F/E AF controls metering for the face when on. The problem for me is that when street shooting, this presents exposure problems with back lit subjects or those with a bright background. Adjusting exposure manually when trying to shoot fast may be beyond my abilities. Do you have any suggestions? Or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks
Hi all, just a question I can't find an answer to.... Can you select the face by using focusing point? So half press the shutter over a person face and then face/eye locks on? I believe Sony does something like this. I have a handicap and my right hand has trouble with fine motor control. So being able to so focus point you select the right subject would be great. I looking to upgrade to either the Fuji x-t4 or Sony a7iv.
So helpful. If you have an opening in your tutorials can you do a training vid on setting custom settings on the XT-4? I have been unsuccessful in locking in more than one of the custom settings. I've found nothing on-line that helps. Thanks!
