I used to think that the previous generation Civic was too busy, but it eventually grew on me. With the new Civic, Honda went too much to the opposite direction and produced a car that's way too bland and boring! I much prefer the design of the old one; even the interior of the old one looks better to me without the infotainment screen sticking out or that weird metal mesh strip on the dashboard in the new version.

10th Gen: sideview camera, larger trunk space, room for either vent clip-on smartphone attachments or dash mounts, extra large cup holder, more responsive despite the slightly lower hp/torque than the 11th gen.
11th gen: more passenger space, less trunk and glove compartment space. No extra large cup holder, 1 less USB, no sideview camera, infotainment system prevents dash mounting and the honeycomb vent design prevents clip-on attachments.

18 months ago, we had 3 Mazda 3's to trade. We weren't happy with the Gen XI Mazda 3's Torsion Beam set up in the Gen XI. It lacked connectivity to the driver that our Gen X's had.
We ended up shopping several others. But we ended up buying 2 new Gen X Civics: one new 2020 Hatchback Sport and one new 2020 Couple EX. We also got a new 2020 Lexus UX. The Civics' handling are excellent. On my daily driver Coupe, after 34k miles, zero problems. 39.1 MPG since day #1. The Sport Hatch a/c was replaced at 31k, a known issue with Hondas for over a decade. But the a/c warranty was massively extended. 👌

I wanted the hatchback since I saw this model come out years ago. It looked so different from any car I had ever seen, and I had never wanted a car before. No to the colour matching on the interiors, so thankfully they didn't add that. But also no to the black gloss, as I'd rather none at all. That said the dashboard is a roaring success on the 2022 model. One of best designed I've seen. Physical buttons and dials for all of the basics, plus touch screen for entertainment is the best choice. But the execution is where this really excels. So well laid out and intuitive.

I prefer the interior of the 2021, and I prefer the front of the 2021. The 2021 looks sportier from the front, and it’s gives it a look a new driver would love. The interior on the 2021 is nice and simple to navigate, and is visually pleasing. The 2022, while having a sleeker screen placement and not “shouting out at you” buttons, the hexagonal strip on the dash just looks awful. It jumps out at you so much it distracts you from seeing the beauty around it. The hexagonal strip also doesn’t fit with the cars interior at all, as it isn’t seen anywhere else but the front dash. It also looks like it came out of a car from the 1970’s, and this car doesn’t have a 1970’s look to make it fit.
This is just my opinion, don’t send hate. You are entitled to your own opinion, as I am to mine.

In terms of looks Honda seems to have gone backwards (again). 🙁 Style-wise the European gen 8 was fantastic and helped them sell a lot of vehicles but since then they seem to have gone into reverse and with each new iteration targeted a progressively older and more conservative generation of drivers. And the engines... I hate to say it but Honda really seems to have lost their touch here. Reliability concerns with oil dilution and fuel efficiency being well bested by the competition suggest Honda aren't the cutting edge engine tech pioneers they once were. 🙁

Looks like honda went back to 2015 looks....the interior looks nicer than 11th gen...but the exterior on 10th gen is nicer. All i see is a jetta with a honda label...

2021 looks better in my opinion. I'm currently using the 2018 hatchback version. so I like a similar version of 2021. 2022 is a bit ugly-looking.

The problem was that the trims are not the same so you can't compare properly. 2021 is ex but 2022 is lx ( base ) not the ex

2021 Civic looks way better than the 2022. Don't know why the folks at Honda made it look so dull and boring with the new model.
