haven't you noticed that RUclips "influencers" are positive about everything? where are the real comparisons and rankings? they don't exist, do they? all auto "journalism" has always had a problematic relationship with industry - if they aren't sufficiently positive they end up having nothing to review - they get invited to review things because manufacturers can expect a largely positive response

Honda and Acura need a inexpensive reliable fun coupe, not for huge sale numbers but for their small but loyal coupe enthusiasts, with a manual available.
They have 0 in their line up, almost all of their competitors like Toyota, Mazda, have one or two, or at least a slightly higher price coupe, Lexus, Nissan, Toyota, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Subaru, etc.
Again not for huge sales numbers but for loyal customers in smaller numbers with some unique non sedan features and a little better handling and power, no need yo make it smaller or take away cargo space and back seat room, if engineered good, they could even put a second passenger side door on it, aka, Hyundai.

@@RaitisRides Joe, big fan of your channel, I've been watching your videos for a year trying to decide on a new car. I was lucky enough to drive a boost blue pearl 2022 civic touring this past weekend at the Chattanooga Tennessee dealership. The color is beautiful in person (it's so blue lol) and the car drives great. My wife and I are Honda people, she has the blue 2018 accord sport, we were in the new civic for 30 seconds pulling out of the lot and she said "yep it's a Honda". Unfortunately the dealership had included $2,400 in add-ons I don't want and with tax tag and title their total was $36,000.
Anyway can't wait to watch your video when I get home from work to see what you thought about car.
I'm either going to have an Atlanta area dealer order me one without all the extra fluff in a few weeks in that beautiful boost blue pearl color or just keep waiting until the SI comes out, not sure.

I love the Hatchback of this Gen it definitely gives off the sleek fastback design. Something the current Sedan version lost. Also some of the features on the previous gen that came standard on most trims (-LX) are only featured on the Sport Touring models. Example being fog lights, and some are slightly different like the driving modes. Which are Sport, Normal, or Economy mode. Previous Gen has away of combining all three modes at the same time. So there is definitely some give an take on the old vs. new.

Dear Mr. Raiti, thank you for your very nice review. I've leased both the 2017 and 2020 Civic Hatch Sport finding the Civics are an unbeatable value. The many added features in the '20 make it a very nice upgrade and driving experience. I've test driven a Corolla hatch too and the Civic beats it on most points. The '22 Sport Touring: believe me it's awesome to see the manual and redesign and all the other nice features.
HOWEVER I am sorry, and I have to give Honda a big "Zonk" on the head for this: They no longer offer the 180HP-T in the Sport trim which was ~$22.8K. This means I need to get either an EX-L (What Sport buyer wants those wheels nor a lesser engine) or a Sport Touring for much more money. Yes it is a nicely appointed Civic, the Touring, but please don't downgrade us Sport trim buyers to the 158HP 2.0L engine which besides is now going for $24.1K.
This may now put the Sport experience out of reach of many buyers who can't spring for the $29K Civic including myself. I appreciate Honda raising the bar but I would much rather be interested in (and put my money into) a SI Hatch!!!
That being said, I believe Honda is making a marketing shift to keep sales current and competitive. It will be very interesting to see how their sales of the new Civic offerings plays out over the next few years. If I do get another Civic I will wait for the new SI and I hope they offer it in the hatchback. The Sport Touring is a beautiful new offering in any case and I would definitely love to wing one around the curves of those hilly streets of Austin! :-) Regards!

That’s just the way environment we are in. And that is capitalism- supply and demand. It could always be way worse. People think they get gouged by dealers on cars but the same people will buy $1500.00 iPhones, $400 designer jeans, $300 sneakers, spend tons on eating out and drinking and hobbies and not think twice about getting their chain jerked. I don’t think $3800.00 extra for a car that you may drive for 10 years is a big deal. My family owns dealerships and we’ve always had to bite the bullet back in the days of negotiations. We had to make our money in parts and service department and by pushing people into buying extended warranty’s and hoping people sign high interest loans. Dealerships are not charities and it cost tons to own and operate and pay for marketing, legal fees, floor plans, payroll and electricity. It just feels like you are being taken advantage of because we aren’t negotiating like we used to have to. Those days are coming to an end. We are going to the Tesla model. Here is the price, buy it or don’t. If we pull up stakes then where will people go to get their car serviced?

Honestly, I was a tad disappointed when I initially saw the Civic, as it felt like a smaller variant of the current-gen Honda Accord. But this review itself is a proof this one is far more interesting and intuitive than the latter! Love how Honda has these innovative ideas for Civic while being consistent with their initial purpose the lineup was even made for - quality comfort on a budget. I do miss the rear AC vents from the previous generation and the rear flat floor from the older ones (from 2001 - 2016 Civics). I guess the latter was dropped in favor of ever-evolving safety regulations (?) but it did add some extra space for people without having them feel they're crammed up.
What's sad though is Pakistan won't be getting to see the car being sold in the domestic market as the local Honda factories apparently do not possess the technology to build this generation. Way to scam the customers of an already-dwindling industry.

They don't have any of these in stock I just went to three Honda dealerships in South florida. They used to have over 350 cars a piece not one of them had more than 10 cars in their lot. But you're sitting here pushing the Honda accord 2022 they're also adding $5,000 on top of the MSRP you got to be crazy bro. Why are you showing these cars to people when people are not going to buy them and can't even afford them and on top of that they won another $1,000 down if you want to lease it so that's $6,000 above MSRP for at least vehicles. And yet you're showing this thing like anyone can go there and buy it like sure they got 20 of them in the lot right there have you have a good time. You're living in a fantasy world bro wake up

My son and I went through this choice one year ago. We looked at the Corolla Hatch and the Civic Hatch. We both agreed that the Corolla had a very attractive interior and a nice sporty exterior. It is compatible with it's serene and relaxed handling and engine performance.
Whereas the Gen X Civics we looked at were far racier looking, had a more business-like interior, but in performance, we felt that the Civic crushed the Corolla in acceleration, handling and driver interaction with the road.
With my Gen X, the 1.5Liter Turbo, I get 0-60 in 7.3 sec, not fast but quick enough for my needs. To date after 26k miles, 37.7 mpg from day #1.
Will that 1.5L turbo outlast the non turbo Corolla... probably not. But by the time my turbo dies, I'll have my Civic converted to an electric/hybrid.
The kits are in Europe already (€7,500).
We saw the new 2022 design, but found the look underwhelming.

@@alvinsimba734 well that's a personal choice. And I respect yours. But we feel they sucked all the "excitement" out of the car's design. My son and I saw the Gen Xl and didn't care for it. We rushed to the dealer and got two Gen X's. He got a new 2020 Sport Hatch and I got a new 2020 Coupe EX at insane discounts and ridiculous $ for our trades. And I see that for some reason the new Gen Xl is a bit slower. But that's meaningless, I guess.
I look at it this way, if I'm gonna drive a bottom feeder Civic, at least it should have some pizzazz. To us, the Gen Xl would be omnipresent in the parking lot of a AARP Convention! 😆😆😆
