The new 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S is, unlike the last one, purely petrol-powered. Featuring a 620HP 4.0L TTV8 with all new internals from before, a reprogrammed 8-speed PDK gearbox, and stunningly advanced suspension architecture, this is the fastest and most agile large sedan probably ever built. Running 7 minutes, 29 seconds around the Nurburgring, the Panamera Turbo S, at 4,700+ lbs, is as quck as the current-generation 911 Carrera S, and as the last-generation GT3 RS.

Wagons are better than SUVs.
Change my mind.
rmp5s this is an enthusiast channel ofc noone it's gonna disagree
@@the-boring-car-guy The excuses people that want SUVs tell themselves are ridiculous. Wagons4life
i prefer wagons but SUVs have their own place and purposes
SUV should be for off-road & bad surface road only. Sadly, SUV now pretends to be supercar too. Estate or MPV is the way to go for sure.
Which is why Europe is full of wagons, and not SUV's. SUV's are a waste for 99% of people who own them.
Matt, it's not the Urus V8 🙂 "The car uses a quite widely updated version of the ‘EA825’" - "it’s the first car in the group to benefit from the new crankshaft, pistons, conrods, turbos and fuel injection system that Porsche has just fitted to that engine. Why not just shoehorn a more powerful version of the existing V8, such as the one from the Lamborghini Urus or Audi RS6 Avant, into the Turbo S instead? Well, you couldn’t, apparently. The ‘MSB’ platform the Panamera uses has a tighter engine bay than the ‘MLB-Evo’ layout used by the likes of the Urus, Bentayga, Cayenne and RS6, and it also obliges a twin-clutch rather than torque converter automatic transmission."
Yes, but rotating assembly does not need more space under the hood.
Im suprised that its not the exact same platform as Audi 6.
Nerd
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
@@jareknowak8712 I agree, it would be stupid not to recycle a perfectly good bottom end from the other platform seeing how all the dimensions inside the engine are identical.
The wagon version is infinitely sexier
You beat me to it, this generation with the sport-wagon look is so much better looking than the previous generations imo
Ill take it simply because of the rear bench seat which you cant get on the coupe
no way
That's interesting cause I've already heard quite a few people saying that wagon looks sexier and I personally believe that hatchback looks a little bit better. It's probably the retractable rear spoiler that does it for me, plus the overall shape, sort of like an enlarged 911.
Sexy as in beyond stupid looking? Yeah agree for sure.
Now i can't stop thinking about how the atmosphere us full of "ball moisture"... 😬
Especially on those HOT and HUMID days.
Imagine if Porsche made a small sedan, like 3 series sized....man that would be good.
Imagine making 4,5 meters long Taycans little brother, or better sister :)
Taycan is 5.0m long.
Porsche is part of VW like Audi and Audi has the Audi RS3. The RS3 is still a little monster.
ruclips.net/video/3ms3IRQUPMM/видео.html
Rick2010100 Handling is no good on rs3, especially compared to Porsche standards.
AMG 63 yeah nothing like a Porsche, but then even if it handles half as good it’s still 2x better then everything else
Rick2010100 yeah but that’s way too small, a4 is more of a better size dude. 3’s are ugly as hell
I often fast-forward through the opening promo spot. Not this time...
Same! Lmao. I did a double take while Matt, took a one take.
Modal boxers are 100% worth buying.
LOL same!
Keep your balls cool brothers.
He had me at "balls"
8:30 Pretty sure that's a gas leak sniffer system hanging off the front of that truck. Probably the gas company doing a routine check
And the chains are there to drag on the ground and electrically ground the car so there's no risk of static buildup on the car resulting in a spark when you get out and touch something.
You two are so smart 👏
I definitely prefer the Sport Turismo to the first generation hatchback, but boy they really nailed the proportions of the hatchback with the second generation. I hope to pick up one used in the next couple of years, and I am genuinely torn between the wagon and the second generation hatchback. I will probably end up with the latter just because of the limited availability of the former.
get the wagon bro. ive got one and I love it. looks way better
How come the wagons are more limited?
@@watwillwedonext Much smaller market for wagons, at least here in North America. The target market for wagons here shifted to minivans in the '80s and '90s, and then eventually to S/CUVs.
@@sportturismo_4s ultimately I decided to get a weekend / vacation property instead. So I got a late-model Volkswagen Arteon (with the updated engine/transmission combo) as a consolation prize.
That spec is killer😍
I've been going through a tear of one takes lately and man you've slimmed down loads!
Yep, matt is looking great at them moment. If he can get a bit trimmer and pack on some muscle he'll be a certified silver fox.
@@ahhh6201 but without the hair😉
This car will turn your groceries into a smoothie on the drive home.
That’s no good. I hate steak-salmon-oatmeal-vegetable-chocolate smoothies. 😉
videos never do speed justice, and yet this looks fast. I can't imagine how fast it actually is in real life. what an incredible machine!
Here to show my appreciation for the person who designed that cup holder
Thanks for the review. Been hearing a lot about the car lately, glad to hear from someone who knows how to explain features/benefits.
Bro, those fly by shots are unreal! That thing is moving.....
Sounds good on the standard exhaust too. Proper luxurious V8 rumble.
Watch alot of your videos from the uk. Part of the fun is seeing your weather or roads/scenery .
What a coast to coast car this would make........
Love these fast German wagons so glad we get the RS6 and the 2 Porsche hatchbacks
looking good bro, keep shedding that weight you got this!!
Just imagine one of these in green over brown
green over white looks better
I am picking one up with a truffle brown interior in a couple of months and will be wrapping it in dark green 🤤
You’re the man Matt 🦅
LOVE these
Man that sounds wonderful
What watch are you wearing?!
If I could only have one car, that would probably be the one.
Perfect daily driver right there.
I tangled with a 2020 turbo a few weeks back in my 2014 GT3. It was headlight sucking fast.
Holy Moly that is freaking heavy. How can it be that fast at the Nurburgring - unbelievable.
What’s crazy is a new C2S is almost as fast as a previous gen GT3RS. Porsche always pushing performance boundaries so much.
These high performance sedans/wagons nowadays are SILLY fast man geez !
Love your H.Moser Matt....The car is nice too
Major respect for the WTF w/Marc Maron podcast. Great comedian and interviewer! Would be interesting if you did his show at some point...
Looks and sounds pretty awesome.
Did you drive the previous gen Turbo S e-hybrid? Is this one better or you’d go for a second-hand first gen (saving +80k in depreciation)?
I am driving around in the last 991.2 911 4S. Reminds me of that. Way more power than you can use. Just goes flat and fast wherever you point it. How does Porsche improve performance every new model better than the car it replaces?
That's a lot of car.
GT 63 S test coming soon? :)
This and a CGT is all you need.
Panamera upload on my birthday. Let us hope this is a sign of presents to come...
Jordan Stead happy b-day🎉🎉
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
The ultimate grocery getter! I can only imagine how much ground this car can cover out on the open road; effortlessly gobbling up miles at warp speed with so much in reserve for overtaking...ahhhh, if only I had the money! 🤑🏎🚀
Now that the GTS has effectively the same engine you could probably save a bunch of money buying one of those and remapping it. I wonder how much of the internals and things are different.
If I win the lottery this week I'll order this bad boy
Which road is this? I’m in LA and I can’t recognize it
Absolute dream car
When a car settles on both axles under braking it pitches (not squat.)
Squatting is settling on the rear axle under acceleration.
Thanks for a great test of a great car. Have not tried the S, must be awesome :)
Ballsy intro! 👍
Those look like the largest calipers I have ever seen on a production car in my life
Go check out a Taycan Turbo S for big brakes.
Never thought that deep about my ball comfort that much but there genius sweat free balls
if you keep up with these ads i will never scrub through them again
I've had a Panamera S e Hybrid for more than 2 years, and I'm terribly jealous of the owners of the new Turbo S! The Pano is an epic road car in an age when most plebes buy SUV's because they think they 'need' the extra height, etc... truth is, for an enthusiast who wants a comfortable, luggage-hauling, great handling CAR, Porsche has just the ticket.
The 2 door GTC4Lusso T costs almost $100K more, and I guess you could look at a BMW M8 but again you can't get the practicality of 4 doors either way.
how easily does a bike fit in there...the roofline is so raked I'm not sure what to call it . the Ring time is nuts considering the weight!
As a daily would you take this or Taycan turbo s?
Don’t love the Panamera but this would be the ultimate do almost do everything car. I can imagine the instance here in Houston would be astonishingly expensive.
I just watched the podcast with Betim. I learned so much about suspension turning from that pikes peak conversation.
So, this being a German spec car wondering if the suspension is not set up for US roads. You seemed to prefer this car in comfort mode or sport 1.
The almost 5,000 lbs is very obvious in the drive by shots like a linebacker on steroids. Amazing Nordschleife numbers .
Matt, I think the nurburgring time of the 991.1 gt3rs isn't set by Porsche, it's set by a journalist. If you look at .2 gt3rs (yes .2 is better but it's slight improvement) 991.2 gt3rs is a sub 7 min car. But great video thou. If we look at 991.1 3RS on Laguna Seca, it did 1:33 there ( 1 s faster than a 570s ).
Excellent cars but as you say, depreciation is killer. Where do I sign anyway? 👊
What road is that?
Yes, please!
8:28 I believe that was a profilograph on the truck that I'm sure at first Matt thought was a cop lol
Drove this exact presser a few weeks after Farrah did. It's absolutely fucking ballistic.
I assumed you meant straight line speed, not on the Nurburgring! Wow
This particular example IS running with the sport exhaust option. The normal quad exhaust has a squared off design.
On of the best dailies
What do you prefer Matt? This, or RS6 Avant, or E63 AMG Wagon?
Definitly the rs6 i just adore that car.
I prefer the handling of this to the RS6. IT's lighter on its feet. But it's a lot more expensive than E63 wagon.
How's the oil consumption?
Better than rs6?
I'd be curious what your review of a 'normal' Porsche would be, such as a base 911 or a Cayenne.
Sounds like it’s better dynamically compared to RS6 (?). So RS6 vs E63 vs RS6?
of all of your watches, the one im most jealous of is that bugatti blue weiss.
thanks! it's a lovely piece
I'm a simple man...I see Porsche, I click
Baghdad ballsweat is my favorite punk band
Are you filming with an osmo pocket?!?
So... I checked how much this car costs where I live (Portugal), and it STARTS at 243 085,00€. WHAT?!
same for where i live (246000), that is insane
$457134 in Australia.
@@jakewarren9465 with the conversion that's still 30K more than here!
With no options 177.000€ and with the options I chose it's at 210.000€... in germany.
Thankfully we don’t have VAT and the same level of duties here in the US. Between that and the pretty cheap fuel prices it’s a lot easier for us to drive high end and high powered cars.
Hey Matt What watch is that you're wearing?
weiss. matts friends with the creator and talked him into a one off custom blue.
Oh dang. That's kinda cool.
Yess replaced all my underwear with Sheath!
A two take with this and the AMG GT 4 door would be an interesting comparison.
A new RS7 too
isnt the gt 4 door faster?
Shaiyan Hossain close but I would say the RS7 looks better. It has a very similar engine to the panamera
@@ShaiyanHossain yes 7:25 nurburing
Come to where I live in Canada and you won't complain about the heat lol I'll gladly take some
Looks like you can fit a few bikes in the back.
just needs to be green, and it would be perfect!
Light blue metalic, or turquoise, and 2 door for me!
Thanks for your review. If I were 20 years younger this would be my car. I'll stick to my 2020 Spyder.
Who spotted the JRE - Lex Friedman.
Speaking of which Matt your due to go back on Rogan soon.
No other car reviewer talks about his balls. Kudos.
And to such an extent.
And others' balls.
Outstanding.
Sport Turismo with nice wheels and lowered a little would be the dream daily.
Eric Peachey air suspension. They all can go up or down, depending on your needs
Not sure if there is any space to lower it more, if You wanna daily it, but custom rims are always welcome.
Just one word..... Damn!!!
I dig the car, but I NEED to know more about that Blue watch!
Weiss American Issue Field watch w/ PTS Bugatti french racing blue dial. 1 of 1.
Anyone know what road this is
That cup holder tho...
Want to see this vs a red-eye widebody
how are these cars for tall people ?
I feel as if I can see when the 4WS is tightening and lengthening the wheelbase based on this footage, is that just me?
SNL quality ad. Nice work. Oh, car is badass too...
It’s taken some years to finally get there, but it looks like we’ve finally got the ultimate Panamera. Why someone would take a Cayenne Turbo over one of these is beyond me. You can keep the Taycan too - this is just a better experience and better looking.
americans would rather have the cayenne turbo
I think you got something wrong there. What you are talking about, is the '997' GT3 RS, not the last Gen. vehicle. Because the '991' GT3 RS version does it in ~7.10 min.
Also the current Gen. '992' Carrera S does it in 7.25 min. not 7.30 min..
I think you mixed up the Genreations there big time...
No, he's talking about the 991.1
Which did it in 7:28
@@HoratioHoodoo I direct you to this site sir www.automativ.de/rekorde-nordschleife-nuerburgring-rekordtabelle. It was the '997' which did it in 7:27 in 2011, half a year before the '991.1' basemodel came out...
The GT3 RS 991.1 version (in the list wrongly labeled 991.2) set a laptime of 7:12 and the actual 991.2 set 2018 a laptime of 6:54...
Sport Auto did the 991 gt3rs in 2015 and the gt3 in 2013. 7:28 & 7:32.
@@HoratioHoodoo sport auto? whatever this is, its not porsches official drivers, plus they have no officials timing the whole thing, so your answer is pointless. I´m talking about official numbers not some magazine testing cars...
I wanna see this go head-to-head with the Audi RS6 Avant
Buying this when I retire and can afford a potential repair, instead of paying for college and weddings.
Badass car
I wonder how long before we have a 10,000 lb 'sports car'?
dan noyes yeah, the weights are getting ridiculous.
And wait 'til you get a load of electric cars' weights with their ginormous batteries.
I’m sure sponsorship deals should be somehow related to motoring
this or an RS6 or E63 estate?
10:35 I guess we now know why press cars have to be sanitized in between loans. 😂😂
