@@tonycool100 I've had my Panamera for 10 months and once your used to the set up its very easy and works very well but it does take a few months for muscle memory to kick in. Its worth the effort because it looks gorgeous.
For this price, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S is a better proposition overall, especially when you take in account that you can basically have all options and still money left before it reaches the Porsche's MSRP. It accelerates way faster, i would think it corners about as good because it's slightly lighter (it doesn't have All wheel steering, so maybe be slightly slower), and to my eyes it seems to be a better luxury car too since the interior quality appears to be similar and it has more tech (their automatic driving is only topped by Tesla's). If you want a pure luxury car, the S550 is a better option too (at this game it's only topped by a few car to be honest). If you want a better luxury car without feeling like you're driving a boat, the 750i is also better overall, since it seems more confortable and has more tech but on paper should drive about as good (similar weight, also has All wheel steering). If you just want an expensive daily, the Tesla Model S P100D is a better option overall as well, since it seems to be the best daily on the market rn. There is more to a car than the badge, the 0-60 and lateral acceleration. When you take into perspective everything that the models offer, depending on your checklist, there are indeed better cars.
When the first gen Panamera came out, almost every reviewer complained about the "myriads of buttons". Porsche responded and cleaned up the centre console. Now they complain about the lack of buttons...
The combination of an analog rev counter and digital for everything else is genius! Thanks Porsche! This is one hell of a car! Since the sports cars (apart from the GT models) lost their souls, this might be the Porsche to get.
kraenk12 I am the party bruh. Porsche design has been to carry over every design idea to all their cars. every one is parts bin and they all look the same...and I'm a Porsche fanboy /own one. they slapped on the 991 tail lights onto the Panamera and all these fools are talking like it's some ground breaking design.
I can't tell the difference in the exterior design much so i don't get why anyone would say there's innovation here. Interior is nice but that flat out digital style layout for the buttons in the center console like he said isn't user friendly when driving. There's no how it'll wont be distracting, but i'll admit it does look nice but it is nothing new. Several cars over the years have had touch sensitive like buttons or capacitive touch pads.
Mr. Alex douchebag spends almost two minutes of time in this video, to tell the people "not to forget how ugly the first generation of the Panamera was"... lol! This is so ridiculous! Instead of being a little bit "cooler" and trying to see the first generation of the Panamera as that what it was, a Porsche-unusually big car in the S-Class segment of the market, but certainly the fucking sportiest, he critizises and spreads his fucking hate against the first Panamera. Alex fucking little man is just a smallminded little fucker with no sense of coolness at all! No other car of its segment had such sporty talents like the first Porsche Panamera. And the "hunchback" blabla against this Porsche is just because of its need for passengers headroom in the rear of the car! This wasn't so easy to combine with the typical 911 design characteristics. The first Panamera was a cool looking big car, certainly much better looking than the fucking standard notchback cars from all the other car brands in this class! and for a better understanding: compare it with a completely useless Aston Martin Rapide. The rear seats in this car are a fucking joke, because completely without any sense! But it was sooooo fucking beautiful... yeah... of course! A Porsche Panamera is a perfect compromise of looking awesome and transporting four or five people without any lack of space in the most sporty way of such a car at this size! Alex fucking douchebag always makes the mistake, comparing this with the 911. But this here is a huge limousine with over 5 meters of lengh. For that it's simply fantastic how sporty this second generation of the Panamera handles and the first generation always was!
Agreed. Unfortunately it feels like the unibrow taillight design is being slapped on all the newer Porsche models indiscriminately by VW. It works well in some cases (like the new Panamera) but is a completely atrocity in others (the new Cayenne and A8).
funny how everyone were crying that there are too many buttons in old panamera, and asking for this. And how everyone is crying now that there are no buttons, people are just never happy.
Dinu Ciobanu First of all, I never complained about too many buttons. Secondly, almost anything that can be done with touch sensitive buttons can be accomplished with switch buttons. so shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down.
The car is still great either or. Can't see touch button being an actual concern for any buyer despite hate though. When it comes down to it...it really doesn't actually matter. Just get used to it. Just like how people use touch smart phones instead of button phones
This guy is top 3 if not the best car journalist on RUclips. Actual content. ---not a fan of the digital dials, I wish Porsche would keep the mechanical ones and overlay a screen or surround them by screen space. Also I liked all the buttons on the last panamera, made it feel like a fighter jet cockpit.
Love this car. It's the best of both worlds. Whether you want supreme comfort for a night on the town or supercar performance for a day at the track, this car can do both equally well.
The gen 1 panamera didn't have a face only the designer could love. I love it, every non car person I've asked has loved it, and a percentage of car people I've asked love it. So I'd like an in depth analysis of why so many car people think it looks bad. I want to see all the first reviews of it, what was said, because I don't think that people thought it looked bad in the same proportion as they do now
I saw the first-gen Panamera the other day, and the Panamera is a car that drips with presence on the road. The design is polarizing -and that's a great thing. Not to everyone's taste but it is the most luscious car I love so much.
Nah objectively, when you sum up all the qualities of a car, it's between the BMW M760Li, the Mercedes-AMG S65, the Bentley Mulsanne Speed and the Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge.
Nevertheless, i think the Panamera is very, very expensive. Yes, i know its a porsche, and i know how well it drives but please keep in mind that this is a luxury car without most of this fancy driving assistance systems eg. HUD, Night vision etc. Other manufacturers do a better job in this concern with their luxury cars. Sure about the HUD? In germany i am pretty sure that this option is not avaiable. According to a local porsche dealer, the poeple at porsche decided against a HUD because the car should be/stay a driving focused car. Adaptive cruise control is available, you are right! And yes it is unique and it is a great car.
As a Porsche enthusiast, I agree with the notion that there's no such thing as too much power. However, there is such a thing of too much technology, which afflicts the latest iteration of some cars(including the Panamera)
We live in a world where people choose cars based on which one works best with their phone. Technological progress is inevitable and Porsche has to keep up with it just like everyone else.
great footage and video overall! i really like the looks of the new panamera, especially the turbo with sport design package. Apparantly there is a v8 with electric motors in the line, something over the turbo S, arround 700hp rumored. We can only hope
I used to call the first gen Panamera the Puke-amera :P Glad to see the exterior has been revised so successfully! Can't argue with that insanely powerful engine - and although that new interior looks gorgeous, it certainly can't be easy to live with. 3rd gen the charm?
At 4:34 and few other moments through out the video, I noticed there is a back tail light brighter than the rest. Is it the trickery of the camera or is that how it is supposed to be? I've never seen a car do that in the US.
Then there's the Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid. Porsche rates its 0-60 at 3.2 seconds! That's scary, especially since Porsche always downplays their numbers. That's 0.1 off of a Ferrari F12.
I love my Panamera with all the buttons and controls. When they got rid of the buttons due to people complaining, they obviously didn't listen to the large number people who wasn't complaining about the buttons. I've always preferred the buttons because I can operate them by feel even in the dark without having to take my eyes off the road. With a dark slick LCD panel you can't tell what you are touching unless you focus on it because you have to make sure you're on the right screen first becaus some controls occupy the same spot. I think they should have split the difference and maybe only got rid of a few. Not Damn near all of 'em.
It depend. In fact at home we are 3 drivers and all of us have different setting for things like this. My wife and my son can drove my car and vice versa. When we do long distance trip we are used to switch driver. If Porsche did connect the air vent with seats program it's look like a pretty good idea? Otherwise, IMHO, it's useless. Oh another thing, is this reliable ? because Porsche is not cheap in repair cost.
I don't understand the 996 hate, that car was my poster 911 and I always found it beautiful. Oh well, it'll keep the prices down so I can get one myself eventually, so I'm not complainin
Sounds as much like an AMG as every other crossplane V8 since they all sound pretty similar, but other than that not really. Like everyone said, it sounds more like an Audi RS... because it kinda is (same engine i reckon, and if not it's an evolution).
I sold Porsche for two years and I have to say I was never a fan of the Panamara. This car though, is stunning. And the best part of this car is that, most cars over 100k drop like lead weights in resale value in a short period of time. But this car, because of the limited numbers, the value stays high. It handles better than the BMW and faster as well. Even the V6 will get you better times that many competitor V8s. As an added value, lease rates on this car are very good .....residuals are very good, thus payments and very low for the price of car. I highly recommend! It's one of those cars that when you stomp on the gas, you just can't, not smile! 😜
I really enjoyed this video, I like your sense of humor. Critical Thinking says that we have to look at both sides of a point, but I think too many creators are expressing their personal complaints to seem objective. Complaining about features and design on a car with a million things that you don't need.....is childish. Please stop it, you're better than that.
The older Panamera Turbo S had those retracting spoilers before. I guess people didn't know about it much because it wasn't marketed or shown off as much as they did with this updated version.
Nice video, love the car. You criticisms of the touch screen controls set up is the same issues I have with touch screens, buttons and knobs might not look as clean but ultimately they're more practical and crucially I feel they're safer to operate whilst on the move. Looking all space age doesn't necessarily mean it'll be better
It sure would be nice if someone had some news on the nextgen Panamera turbo s... All that I have heard is that it is supposed to be a crazy fast hybrid hypercar that is to be set up with electric motor assist similar to the 918.
4.0 L twin turbo V8? Sounds awfully familiar. Audi-ish familiar. Then again, Bentley DID borrow that engine from Audi. And since the new Panamera chassis will serve as the basis for the upcoming Continental, it's not surprising that it will continue to use Audi's V8. After all, it's a fabulous engine. Great job, Harry Potter. I love your reviews. You should seriously take Chris Evans' spot on Top Gear!!
The "fuck you" button, lmao! I like that. Also, I think Alex dresses impeccably. More to the point, this new Panamera is a really impressive piece. Now, of course, it's a Porsche so it should be, but the levels of comfort, performance, and tech are absolutely incredible. If I made more money, this would be the shortlist of cars to buy.
That control system..... A classic case of adding technology for the sake of it, which actually ends up making things less intuitive to use (and a LOT more expensive to fix when it goes wrong). This "everything should be on a touch screen" concept is a fad I can't wait for manufacturers to move on from. Yes its fast, but so are most twin turbo V8 cars. I can't say its charming me in the slightest.
I'm constantly hearing people praise endlessly about how good the new Panamera looks and how the first gen was as ugly as an STD. I don't find the new Panamera radically different to the old one. It still looks quite alright like the old one did.
+1. .. The story here is the body design of the neu Panamera. .. The Series 1 body design was a constant debate in Fugly. .. Yes the version 2 body design is very nice. .. Read expensive,,, as saloon's go. .. Nice review.
That split rear wing and that particular colour make the car look like a ladybird from the back xD cracking machine though, would very much like to own one
Is this a stand-alone V8 or the trusty Audi RS/Bentley VW Group unit? Same displacement, same technical layout, same(similar) sound, and power figures in between Bentleys and Audis V8 S/RS cars ..
Sometimes less is really less.... professional digital SLR cameras have a dedicated button/dial for everything... pick up an entry level version and its a menu delving nightmare for the most basic of adjustments.. ..which is exactly how some companies present their infotainment/controls etc etc. Sometimes a separate dial/button.switch really is the obvious route
For what its worth, Consumer Reports for 2017 Brands has Porsche #1, Audi #2. Any Porsche-Audi Dealerships (as they used to be marketed together in the '70's) should continue to be gold mines...
That rear Wing is flat out cool af
It's because it's German.
Soon2Be Fulfilled until you get the repair bill
Everyone: "We don't want buttons!"
Porsche: "okay, no buttons"
Everyone: "but we want buttons"
Ad Mill yeah, the old complaint was "too many buttons" but now the new complaint is "give us back our buttons"
in fact, I think the previous button design is unique and ideal if you have owned the car for a week and longer.
@@tonycool100 I've had my Panamera for 10 months and once your used to the set up its very easy and works very well but it does take a few months for muscle memory to kick in. Its worth the effort because it looks gorgeous.
It is a some sort of button tho, ppl hate piano black.
I would rather have too many buttons than a screen…
Porsche aren't just on top of their game.. they're on top of the whole CAR game. Yum
Porsche is overrated
I've said that too for years, so true!

Cool, yeah maybe. But is it practical and safe ? no.

Ajax I thought it had only in the back seats
That said how often do you really change a thing like that?! Like never. The rest of the climate controls do have buttons.

More to the point, this new Panamera is a really impressive piece. Now, of course, it's a Porsche so it should be, but the levels of comfort, performance, and tech are absolutely incredible. If I made more money, this would be the shortlist of cars to buy.
4:34 why one of that tail lamp is brighter ??
rear fog light
Love the 996 Turbo
What happened to good old tactile switches and buttons...?
What a great car. I've always liked it... even when it was ugly
I cant wait to own one of these
wats the location of this video????
Someone should do a compilation of this guy saying "proper".
Carfection IF you die ;-)
They will never forget you with a funeral that long. :)
car is gorgeous! TTV8 AWD PDK what more can u ask for? 👌 did porsche just steal the 4.0T motor from the Audi RS7 🤔
drag race vs audi rs7 performance?
same engine, 4WD, 8speed ZF vs. PDK and similar weight. interesting.
vivalaphill different engine (of you mean actual engine, rather than displacement and layout)
vivalaphill The 8speed PDK is built by ZF aswell.
rs7 performance would probably pull away at high speeds 605hp vs 550hp and panamera is heavier
*570. I think this will be a close race.
Whats up with its taillight, bright red spot on the right one.
I'm constantly hearing people praise endlessly about how good the new Panamera looks and how the first gen was as ugly as an STD. I don't find the new Panamera radically different to the old one. It still looks quite alright like the old one did.
Where's this road??
video about new porsche touch screen. They are so crisp.
such a nice car
love the pannameras looks way more then the 996 911
Amazing car!!!
great review thax
Rear light out already?
The 996 looks amazing???
Good review 👌🏻
have a good day lads ;)
Damn, what a car
That right inner tail light already has too much resistance ✨💡✨😂
Love this car, however I wasn't prepared for the 14 month waiting list. Most of the tech in this car will be commonplace in rival cars by then :(
porsche and mercedes are the top best european companies no doubt about that
Sometimes less is really less.... professional digital SLR cameras have a dedicated button/dial for everything... pick up an entry level version and its a menu delving nightmare for the most basic of adjustments.. ..which is exactly how some companies present their infotainment/controls etc etc. Sometimes a separate dial/button.switch really is the obvious route
IS iT LONDON??
For what its worth, Consumer Reports for 2017 Brands has Porsche #1, Audi #2. Any Porsche-Audi Dealerships (as they used to be marketed together in the '70's) should continue to be gold mines...
Now, Porsche and Audi are both in the Volkswagen Group. Sooooooo is the 4.0 TT V8 the same as the RS7's 4.0 TT V8?
Ok, phew, thank god! Porsche NEEDS to stay original!
They are different....yet the next RS6/7 will have the same engine!
The 996 was/is a great looking car I don't care what anyone says!
I love the mk1 panamera... maybe me and the designer are the only ones who like it...
