You nailed the same sentiments I had when the 991.2 Carrera models went turbo. Carrera and Turbo models offer near identical experiences the only question is how much faster do you want to hit prison speeds.
@Tanmay Jamwal that's why there's a GT3. Eventually, anyway. But I think Porsche is probably going to start hybridizing, first with the performance models. Sort of a shame, but then you consider what the 918 can do, as well as the Panamera e-hybrid.
I just dont like what they did to upper front part of porsche with those irregular rectangular lines., seems out of place and nothing like the traditional porsche, wish they had implemented curvy lines like the last 911
It's how approachable it seems despite the crazy performance, and how it goes about delivering said performance in sort of a calm, professional, almost oblivious manner. Like it's not even trying to impress you.
The thing I love about the turbo s is that it’s so discrete. Anyone with a huracan will get cocky and try to race it and not realise just how fast it is
I mean for sure not my favorite car. But my brain tells me that whatever the current gen 911 turbo is are just the best cars. All around I think it's just 90 percent or as good as anything else. If it isnt the best transmission it is a hair away from being so. If it isnt the fastest it is a hair away from being so. If the ride quality isnt the best it is negligible if another cars is better. And often times..... it is the best in various categories but there are 0 major shortcomings whereas many other cars that might be able to best it in certain areas have compromises

"this thing masks speed" I own a 991.2 turbo and this is spot on. I cannot tell you how many times I have been on the freeway and I look down and I'm going 100mph because 100mph feels like 70 in any other car. The real charm to the turbo isn't how fast it is, its not the looks, its not the fact that you can daily drive it. It is how stable and composed the car feels under every condition. You have to take a right turn going 50mph to get any drama out of this thing and even then its only momentary.

Great video. Can’t agree more with the “less is the same” theory regarding S vs Turbo S. I have a 991.2 base and would go even further to say that a base will make you completely happy if you are an average Joe😉
Thanks for the video Matt! Glad you didn’t get arrested or get the car impounded! Funny though, when I think of driving a car like this on the road, that’s what comes to mind immediately!
Matt, I'll go beyond your typical (and amazing) review and just observe that you were disappointed at the end. Is it the times, the issues we're facing lately with covid and such, or the 992 turbo isn't as thrilling as before? I'll say both, and 110% agree with your statement: the spiral in numbers and specs has to stop. I honestly get chills when i see a 996 Turbo or mk.1 996 GT3 CS than the new generations. Thanks again Matt for a great, slightly emotional, video!
You can only use so much power on the street. The 992 seems more digital and soulless than all previous gen 911's. The interior is so plastic laden and digital feeling. Every car is fast now, electric are even faster. This is why the GT3 is the best 911, much more character with the 4.0. 991 was the overall best 911 generation ever.
Really good review, it brings something different to the other Turbo S reviews I’ve watched over the last few days; a real World appreciation of the merits of each of the 911 models, S, Turbo, Turbo S. The fact that it would be difficult to experience the difference legally, other than on a race track. But, the Turbo S is a magnificent beast.
Shifting is really reminding me of the 488, where you have to consciously remember to shift way before the redline since the revs climb so fast and the torque drops off at higher RPMs. Gotta feel the torque curve through your seat and shift to keep it perfectly at the peak. Driving a turbo car is a totally different style to driving an NA car like a GT3 or 2.7 Carrera RS
Despite being an amazing machine, I wish Porsche offered a 911 with the Luxury, confort, 4 wheel drive of the Turbo S, but the 4.0 litre NA engine from the GT3.
I get mine delivered in January 15th 2021! this will be my 1st Porsche and going from a new NSX to this should be a fun change of pace lol I can't wait!

Twice the price? lol like what? The regular car and a tune will keep up with this. If your only dealing with what you get out the factory sure. But modding is where the culture is at now a days. This kind of car is for the 0-60 bench racers, and the old dudes that peacock at 54.
GoogleLeaveMyNameAlone No modded pos “regular” car is going to drive and handle like a brand new 911 turbo S, just because you boost it up to 800-1000 hp. It just isn’t.
When you dropped down to mellow mode, I figured you were doing about 15-20 mph. If that was actually 43 mph, then that Turbo S is really moving through the rest of the video!
Yes it has too much performance for the real world and puts you at risk for getting tossed in the klink .. but ... the Turbo S does some of its best work sitting still .. Everybody who lays eyes knows that it pretty much owns the road ... a true object of desire for all who love to drive .. that's the TTS
Can't wait for the video. I'll probably stick with my 68mm VTG 991.1 Turbo S though. Seems like mostly same or similar hardware and better interior tech and drivers assistance aids which i don't really care for.
I would think he was driving conservatively given the conditions. But yes I was surprised that he didn’t emote any joy when driving. I’ll take Joe Raiti any day over this guy
Cg3 he’s just very genuine. He won’t portray any fake emotions like many other youtubers. I actually like that about matt. He has plenty exciting vids as well, and you know that the car is exciting.
Well said Matt. This new turbo is a porker (3650 lbs!) and just stupid fast. Base Carrera or C4 is all you need in the US. Better yet get a 997 or 991.1 and enjoy the classic NA flat six power band and sound, at 1/4 the cost.
That’s why I hope our German government will keep allowing unlimited speed on the Autobahn. Then these cars are actually perfect and maybe one day I can afford one
Recently drove 991.1 and 992 C4S back to back. The NA engine with tall gearing is just not very fun in normal driving. The 992 pulls like a mofo in comparison although I thought 991 had better ride, steering feel and sight lines. I suspect 991.2 is the sweet spot.
Whaiting for this review for so long. Love how you test the cars and review them. A good blast on a perfeckt strech of road with insightful feedback. It really shows that this is a super fast, capable and comfertable car that it has allways intended to be. Nice😎
Please, do compare it’s performance with another sport car on same league like the McLarens , the GT 2 RS or even the last 991.2 Turbo. Only awesome, incredible superfast and other adjectives won’t do.
you know you're a fucking boss when Porsche finds a work-around to a pandemic lockdown and brings a brand new 911 Turbo S to your HOUSE. Matt you are killing everything!
Man, that last bit really got to me... Im struggling with replacing my 570spider with the 991 Turbo S... but I also keep thinking should I just get the C4S? I already got my license suspended once when they impounded my mclaren for a week... so i dont know if the extra $ is worth the headache it can cause.... Thanks Matt.
Dan S i would say get the turbo s had the 911.2 turbo and the thing was crazy fast and very practical compared to the mclaren of course so i wouldnt imagine this beast it also depends on you if you want a lot of power compared to the 4s id say the extra cash is absolutely worth it you just gotta watch for these cops its not like if you got the 4s you wouldnt go fast anymore
eag 8999 read his main comment. He wants something less fast than a 570 because it got him in trouble. Thinks a Turbo S might also be too fast, which it very well may be. A GT3 is all the performance but just not as fast. Read, man. Don’t come at me.
Love your reviews. My passion is driving the twisty highways (more so than driving the closed circuits) and there is no other car I would want to own to fill my needs than Porsches. Any Porsches, for that matter. But as I got older, the Turbo S has become more appealing than ever. A cabriolet in Guards Red for a month-long drive across the country may be in order.
A couple years ago I got myself a 41 over ticket on an on-ramp (96 in a 55) in only a Coyote Mustang. The cop was cool enough, he didn't give me a break, but gave me my ticket and went on with his night. Didn't lecture me or threaten jail time. The lawyer was useless though, and I have a reckless with intent to endanger on my record now, even though it's the only ticket I've ever gotten. At that point, I decided most performance cars are too fast and I've gone to things that are under the 1:10 power to weight ratio. I've found that it allows me to play with the car and not be doing triple digits and risk going to jail every day.
He's driving a freaking Turbo S and the utter lack of excitement and enthusiasm in his voice is crazy. Matt, I think you've been spoiled by all the cars you get to drive on a daily basis and that kind of sucks to see as a viewer to be honest.
Great honest review Matt!... My problem with 992’s is that they look very much like 2-door Panameras. And, this is precisely the reason I will keep my 997.2 forever.

You can now get sport exhaust on a Turbo S and couldn’t in the 991.1 and 991.2.
@@olivergrizzly6346 Thats because Sport Exhaust was standard issue on 991 Turbo's.
@@biditnow8869 No, it wasn’t. It wasn’t even an available option until the 992. Same thing for Macan Turbos - couldn’t get sport exhaust until ‘19 and newer.
@@olivergrizzly6346 I sold and built many of customer ordered Porsche from 2016 to 2021. If you turn a Turbo S, Macan Turbo, or Panamera Turbo to Sport Plus, it changes the sound. Just because it wasn't listed as having PSE, doesn't mean its not there already.
Great video. Can’t agree more with the “less is the same” theory regarding S vs Turbo S. I have a 991.2 base and would go even further to say that a base will make you completely happy if you are an average Joe😉
0-Jail in very fast 🤩
jjustyyn _ 😂😂😂pretty original
Best car manufacturer in the world in my opinion.
Props for the honesty.
Long time watcher here. Fantastic review Matt. For whatever reason this had a very old channel feel to it.
Matt, I think you may need to revisit the Turbo on a sunny day and a dryer surface.
Wtf this car is already 2 years old and still feels brand new to me
Same bro lol
man, where will this power thing go? 1000 HP in a super (not hyper) sports car isnt too far away
Thank you. Really appreciate the honesty of this review, especially towards the end. Makes a big difference to me.
I'm almost 40, I think this is the most tasteful/mature super car you can buy.
can you comfortably afford one?
@@michaelykwon Hell No... But I need that kind of negativity in my life.
@@gmax876 invest in xrp. your welcome
Great video. Also I like what you did there with the JRP on the now playing haha
Despite being an amazing machine, I wish Porsche offered a 911 with the Luxury, confort, 4 wheel drive of the Turbo S, but the 4.0 litre NA engine from the GT3.
It’s called an 991.1 CS.
I get mine delivered in January 15th 2021! this will be my 1st Porsche and going from a new NSX to this should be a fun change of pace lol I can't wait!
omaze seems like a scam to be honest , i think in a few years you will see this on a episode of american greed

Another brilliant video and a very telling summary.
Matt, you’re natural style wins my vote every time - thank you and God-speed!
That's a lot of cash, but it'll probably outperform cars twice it's price soooo......I guess you could say it's a bargain haha? Either way, can't wait for the vid. New Porsche's are always big news to me!
The true bargain is always to learn how to build up your own used sports car.
Twice the price? lol like what? The regular car and a tune will keep up with this. If your only dealing with what you get out the factory sure. But modding is where the culture is at now a days. This kind of car is for the 0-60 bench racers, and the old dudes that peacock at 54.
@@googleleavemynamealone9145 Yeah, I'm talking about factory cars.
@@ClayF403 shame. There is a whole world out there.
GoogleLeaveMyNameAlone
No modded pos “regular” car is going to drive and handle like a brand new 911 turbo S, just because you boost it up to 800-1000 hp.
Great review .
I waited 30 years to get a turbo ( 997 gen2 ) great car but not emotional
Can't wait for the video. I'll probably stick with my 68mm VTG 991.1 Turbo S though. Seems like mostly same or similar hardware and better interior tech and drivers assistance aids which i don't really care for.
Love Porsches, my Turbo is one of the best purchases I've ever made I plan to keep it for life.
When car this fast doesn’t make matt giggle during entire video, you know this car is muted.
100%
It's a boring Autobahn cruiser
I would think he was driving conservatively given the conditions. But yes I was surprised that he didn’t emote any joy when driving. I’ll take Joe Raiti any day over this guy
Cg3 he’s just very genuine. He won’t portray any fake emotions like many other youtubers. I actually like that about matt. He has plenty exciting vids as well, and you know that the car is exciting.
When you just got pulled over and cited, are you enjoying the drive, or still fuming about the enforcement? I think that's whats happening here.
One of the few cars I'd consider getting with 2 pedals. The PDK is supposedly a work of art.
Did Matt just say good morning every bunny?
I guess I missed that matt is back on one takes. Glad to have the OG back.
Well said Matt. This new turbo is a porker (3650 lbs!) and just stupid fast. Base Carrera or C4 is all you need in the US. Better yet get a 997 or 991.1 and enjoy the classic NA flat six power band and sound, at 1/4 the cost.
Greg S currently looking for a 997.2...
That’s why I hope our German government will keep allowing unlimited speed on the Autobahn. Then these cars are actually perfect and maybe one day I can afford one
Dave aus München we must fight to win in that regard! It's part of German culture at this point
Nice😎
A very thoughtful and honest review, Matt!
Now all I have to do is sell my house and pick the single option I want the most...
i dont understand how they make every generation better than the last and every car is pretty much perfection
I would take this over a McFerLam anyday
By no means would I take this over a McLaren. To me, McLaren delivers all the exotic car goodies (including the cool doors) for your money.
Brilliant conclusion Matt ! Thumbs up
Such a good looking car....man,the lottery is my only hope 😭🤞!
Way more of these cars are bought with earned money than lotteries... Statistically, working smarter/harder is more likely to get you this car.

Absolutely nailed this review and first drive. Your best ever!
Please, do compare it’s performance with another sport car on same league like the McLarens , the GT 2 RS or even the last 991.2 Turbo. Only awesome, incredible superfast and other adjectives won’t do.
MarMPB was waiting for that. Especially comparing it to a 720s so we’d have a perspective of how fast this car really is
you know you're a fucking boss when Porsche finds a work-around to a pandemic lockdown and brings a brand new 911 Turbo S to your HOUSE.
Matt you are killing everything!

9:22 "You've really only got a few inches to work with" Story of my life...
400-500hp in a sports car is perfect for the street, more just gets you in trouble faster
Why not a 991.2 gt3?
Matthew Eveland he drives a 570 and a spider at that. What would possibly make you think he’d be interested in a GT3?
eag 8999 read his main comment. He wants something less fast than a 570 because it got him in trouble. Thinks a Turbo S might also be too fast, which it very well may be. A GT3 is all the performance but just not as fast. Read, man. Don’t come at me.
Fantastic review, very comprehensive, superb driving, it's great to see the car being pushed but not recklessly.
Was the embargo just lifted on these reviews?
First drives were canceled or postponed
I guess a few people got the car individually
Yup, globally released 3PM eastern time today I believe
Love your reviews. My passion is driving the twisty highways (more so than driving the closed circuits) and there is no other car I would want to own to fill my needs than Porsches. Any Porsches, for that matter. But as I got older, the Turbo S has become more appealing than ever. A cabriolet in Guards Red for a month-long drive across the country may be in order.
Porsche 911 & Omega Speedmaster ;)
good combo... maybe richarde mille... just another porsche turbo s on the wrist lol
IMO that is the best looking Turbo in a long time
Porsche.... there is no substitute. 😉
Could be partly true however it’s also one of the most boring sports car drives anyone could ever have..... zzzzzzzz
Great honest review Matt!... My problem with 992’s is that they look very much like 2-door Panameras. And, this is precisely the reason I will keep my 997.2 forever.
Daniel Trujillo To be fair though the new Panameras are great looking cars, so I’m not convinced that’s a terrible thing.
