Undoubtedly impressive, but I agree with Matt Farah's verdict that it's just a Carrera 4 that gets you a larger speeding ticket. The title of this video is evidence to this idea; extra performance is it's largest talking point. The Turbo no longer distinguishes itself sufficiently compared to the entry level Carrera, because the 'regular' 911 already has enough refinement and performance to be an excellent GT car, unlike the twentieth century. This is a car bought by the well-to-do man with a garage full of Snap-on tools because they're "the best", despite still needing his manual to do an oil change correctly. No wonder it's $200k.
I liked this review. I enjoyed his comments that went behind the standard list of gettysburg and figures. Bu they shouldn't put "0-60" in the description if all you have is the manufacturer's claims.

Having a McLaren 720's spider and a Lamborghini performante Spyder. Also I add a Lamborghini SV roadster. I will tell you this although the McLaren and Porsche are faster in a straight line. The Lamborghini is far more fun to drive with the sound on the drama that goes along with it. One day I might enjoy a Porsche as well but it was a little bit to calm for me. They're just as nothing like a naturally-aspirated and that is the whole point of a driving experience

Good question actually; maybe they have market research that shows their buyers are tech-types and early adopters, thus expect this styling to show the world they are cool?
First of all how on earth you can compare a tycan with turbo s? One is a supercar man.. Secondly turbo s is NOT a grand tourer. It's a supercar with sportscar looks. And just because 2 cars are similar in performance in straight line doesn't mean they can be compared. Also how the hell you need softer suspension in a supercar? What?? Seriously? 😂 And a gt3/gt3rs are way less in power and better in corners(slightly) but this thing has active anti rollbars and active engine mounts so this is arguably better cross between gt2rs & gt3rs. And most importantly this is coming from a NOT so much Porsche fan boy.. 😂
Please to see that you didn't feel that you had to ruin 4 good tyres in demonstrating the car's attributes. I have a 997c which after 20 track days I'm still learning how to drive. Turbo a long way off for me.
@@michaelmcdonald9847 An odd response since I just listed a couple of facts that have nothing to do with whether or not I am rich enough to have driven a $200k car. Do the facts bother you? What am I saying, the 2017 C7 Z06 has already done that to the 2019 Porsche Turbo S.
LOL you can't compare a Porsche to a crap product like GM. HP figures are meaningless when you try to associate it to a price point. Also, in the real world, no one is seeing sub 3 seconds to 60, and quite honestly, thats another useless figure. Anyone can buy a Corvette, but very few can afford a Porsche.

Nah mate. Old turbo s had 580hp and did 10.2 seconds on carwow. Faster than any car that has drag raced there. And there were some pretty fast ones! Huracan performantes aventadors mclarens(even a 720s). I can only imagine what this new one will do. Great car with great engineering and quality. Porsches might be(well probably are) a bit overpriced but it doesn't matter to the buyers. If you want a turbo s you'll get one. You wont go for a vette because it's half the price. These bad boys still get sold at that price point. Would a vette? No.

More expensive than a Mclaren 570s ? Huh ? 911 Is in different league
do you know what is a mclaren 570 ? apparently not from your answer 😊
Correct - different beast
@@tsawaya9279 Clearly you don't either judging from yours.
Wahab .Goldsmith oh really ? Then I will leave you with your silly conclusion
@@tsawaya9279 Your comment has not aged well.
Why do electric cars have to look so cheesy? Alien styling, freaky wheels, bizarre headlights all fit in a cheese-ball Sci-Fi movie...
Good question actually; maybe they have market research that shows their buyers are tech-types and early adopters, thus expect this styling to show the world they are cool?
This car is my dream !
"it's good that you get a Bose sound system" Bose is garbage. lol.
yep
A rather 'down-to-terra-firma' review! . . . . 😉👍
Like the color choice red goes faster hehehe
I like Carlos better.
Yes, demure is always the best with such a loud automobile....
Does your want to own on supersede the ability to buy one? I think not. You either have the money or you buy a Hyundai.
Please to see that you didn't feel that you had to ruin 4 good tyres in demonstrating the car's attributes. I have a 997c which after 20 track days I'm still learning how to drive. Turbo a long way off for me.
Porsche now just uses "turbo" as punctuation....
640hp, wow! The same amount of horsepower in a 2016 Cadillac! And 0.2 seconds faster than a $65k base-model Corvette!
I'm assuming you own none of these cars and have not driven any of them
@@michaelmcdonald9847 An odd response since I just listed a couple of facts that have nothing to do with whether or not I am rich enough to have driven a $200k car. Do the facts bother you? I guarantee you that when the Z06 C8 comes out it is going to embarrass this Porsche on the Ring and be half the price.
@@JoeJacksonGT3 Did you see that Doug DeMuro, who is hardly someone who gives preference to American cars, gave the current C8 and Porsche Turbo S almost exactly the same score overall? And yes, pretty much every reviewer gets sub 3 second 0-60 time. You sound like a complete douche with that last line. Yes, only rich people can afford a $200k car. Does that make them better car people because they have more zeroes in their bank account. LOL, what a pompous jackass you are!
You really can't compare this to a corvette or a cadillac. Even a m5 has nearly the power of this car for nearly half the price. But it's not it. Porsches might be(well probably are) a bit overpriced but it doesn't matter to the buyers. If you want a turbo s you'll get one. You wont go for a vette because it's half the price. These bad boys still get sold at that price point. Would a vette? No.
Has anyone seen REAL 0-60 and 1/4mi times yet?
They will definitely be faster in real life than the released Porsche numbers... they are always understated.
Matt Watson at Carwow hit 2.55s to 60 on a road while traction control was going off... it's got a ways to go past that.
Does 0-60 in 2.2.
Car and Driver did it in 2.2 sec
I would go for the 992 Carrera 4s
He is comparing a Turbo S to a Taycan and still has doubts? He should find a different profession...
“porsche 911 used to be a small car”... are you really still complaining about the size?! are you really still compare this to a 993, a car of 25 years ago?! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Seriously. That argument is starting to irritate me. Obviously the car has to get bigger to accommodate new technology.
Shame that it got heavier and larger. Size and weight of a Camry. I think I'd save money and get the Taycan as nothing is more GT than a EV in my opinion. Not like this engine here sounds like anything special
Where's Carlos?
Amazing car, as always. But it still looks like a damn toad/frog after all these years.
Tyran Mathurin - ''The beauty is in the eye of the beholder'' - clearly, you've stated _you're_ not one. I think it's safe to assume that your optical perception of the 2021 *Porsche 911 Turbo S* is ''no skin off Porsche's nose'' . . . .😉
@@sharkamov
And who says a frog isn't a beautiful creature? From since my childhood days a toad/frog came to mind whenever I see a 911 Sportscar. I honesty don't think 911s are amongst the best looking supercars out there. But I'd still like them. They're amazing machines, like I said.
@@TheTmat007 Right you are, - nothing, but _nothing_ beats nature! - I also think we are on the same page re. the ''refined'' looks on some other pricey automobiles v.s. the (whole) line of Porsche's (and, like you, I've _also_ from my childhood held a fascination for somewhat of an 'ugly duckling' re. cars, namely the SAAB 96, not whet you would call a 'looker', but what solid and dependable driving machines, especially if you were into speeding along winding gravel roads!...) My immediate response to your 'frog-like' comparison, admittedly - was rooted in the fable about 'kissing a toad/frog - and _Presto!: there sprung forth the hidden prince''.... (But, like I said, I still don't think the guys in Stuttgart would agree - fully!) . . . 😄👍
Just my opinion : earlier 911s, looked more frog-like as it grew in style and wheel-base (ie became bigger) , , its nothing less than a beauty .especially now.
It can do 0-100 in less then 2.2 seconds
The new 911 will hit the 1/4 mile in under 10 seconds m the old one did it in 10.3
You just got gapped.
Lucid Air. 9.91 sec at 144mph. Think about it. incredible
Let's get back to horse and carriage, and candle lantern, and no more restaurants, and toothpaste and toothbrush, and let's stop using all the inventions of Nicola Tesla....I'm so tired of so called car shows talk about progress being made my Honda, or Porsche to follow the laws of various countries and keeping us safe and comfortable as being a bad thing.
$200,000 for a car that looks like it's 25 years old? Please.
Its design is inspired from the 1963 Porsche 911.. and it's very worth it..it has a better transmission and suspension than most of supercars..i guess you don't know much about cars
@@thatboy27506 on the contrary, it is because I know a lot about cars that I know how many terrific cars I can buy for $200,000. It is a ridiculous price for a staid, vapid and stale design.
@@TheHomeExpert5 Just say whatever you want to the 911, everyone still loves the 911
@@thatboy27506 no, everybody does not love the 911, they have been hoodwinked and snookered into liking a design that is well past its prime. Even the Porsche Cayman and Boxster are better handling cars because they are mid-engined. The 911 is an antique that Porsche continues to Peddle on foolish people with too much money.
@@TheHomeExpert5 You said that the Cayman is a better handling car? Oh cmon
Soporific review.. Sorry Edmunds.. but for those who can afford one.. It's brilliant and worth short listing as part of your decision making process. ps. it's narrower than a 488 by over 5cm (2 inches!!!).. narrower in fact than any of its rivals...... and over 3cm narrower than the junior Macan suv... too wide?? utter rubbish..He's just regurgitating the same nonsense as most other middle of the road car reviewers. Boring stale car . I would rather get a R8 v10 plus , or a used 720s than waste my money on this
Lucky you don't have $100 in the bank.
@@mattyoz0 You shouldn't be daydreaming or watching videos about cars, that you would never be able to afford in your sorry life . Stick to motorbikes loser
If you have the money why not. Sadly I only have money for an Audi A4. It is a 1/4 of the price and great but driving a Porsche is a whole other experience. Yes I owned a very old Porsche and even when 20 something years old was still a blast to drive and shocked my brother on how responsive the engine was and how tight the handling. Although if I had the money there would be a garage full of cars.
The last generation turbo is able to beat a performante and is a better daily than the r8. A used 720s is going to have you making trips to the mechanic frequently. This generation turbo is clearly superior. You just want to be flashy and know nothing about sophistication.
