  • Baked apples are a tasty treat to serve for dessert, and so easy to make. Serve them up after a roast dinner to top off your meal. Choose firm apples that will hold their shape when baked such as a Granny Smith or Golden Delicious. You'll also need butter, cinnamon, plain flour, raisins, sugar, chopped walnuts, and a water and orange juice mixture. Wash and core the apples then peel a narrow strip from around top edge. Place the apples in a deep baking dish and fill the centres with the raisins. Combine the flour, sugar and cinnamon. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or fork. Stir in the chopped walnuts and sprinkle over the apples. Pour the water and orange juice mixture over then bake, basting occasionally.
