- May 11th 2020. Jimmy was minding his own business in Diglett Cave when a trainer with a Geodude wreaked havoc on all the Diglett present. Now, nearly 2 years to the day, Jimmy has evolved and along with Doug Trieyo is trying to avenge his fainted brethren.

Rules and Explanations
Rules: (1) Only use the one Pokémon in Battle, others for HMs are fine. (2) No Items in battle (3) No Glitches* (4) Set Mode (5) No saving in the Elite Four (6) No evasion moves
Badge Boost "Glitch" Explanation: When you collect odd numbered badges the game boosts a stat by 12.5%. Brock gives ATK, Surge DEF, Koga SPE, and Blaine SPC (in game text is wrong). When any of your stats are modified (even by you using a move like Withdraw, or your opponent using Leer) the badge boosts are re-applied. So If you use Swords Dance, you also gain *an additional 12.5% in Speed/Defence/Special (on top of the 12.5% you were supposed to be getting). When you level up, the game corrects this error, and only the non-glitch 12.5% remains. Because of how difficult it is to avoid, I've allowed for it to be exploited, since opponents will spam Leer/Growl anyways, and this way battles are less random. Red/Blue are extremely buggy, so there's always going to be some glitches present, and because of how unavoidable this one is, it is allowed in runs, and considered more like a special Generation 1 mechanic as opposed to a glitch.
Hey Jrose, I just wanted to give a shout out to your narration. I often get migraines which make it hard to look at screens, so I’ll put on one of your videos to listen to while my meds kick in. I really appreciate how clear you are with what’s happening- it’s easy enough for me to follow along with just the audio, but your excitement and the suspenseful moments still carry over. I know a lot of work goes into editing the footage (and I do go back to watch it too), but I think it’s also not an easy task to create engaging audio with good cadence and style. Many thanks for all your hard work! From Canada
As someone who also deals woth migraines way too often, I can say that his narration is absolutely the best. From Brazil.
haha thanks, I did wanna go into sports radio as a kid, so that's probably a big reason why I'm like this. Sorry about the migraines but glad you still get to enjoy the videos!
@@Jrose11 you'd make a great radio showcaster. All the best
@@Jrose11 I'd like to echo the sentiment, although I don't have any medical reasons I just like playing videos as background. You geninuely have an outstanding narrative voice.
Another person who struggles with chronic migraines, and also noting the simple but clean editing (the nice toned backgrounds and little graphics that slide in and out) help my eyes be able to handle watching them. Thanks (again) from canada :]
Literally woke up to a "Jrose is better" comment today. Thanks for the PSA, man! I appreciate it! It sucks when people do that stuff, but the vast majority of comments are way more positive, so I'm just happy people enjoy the show!
Your videos are amazing man, love them as much as jrose's. Keep going, man!✌🏼😊
Thanks for commenting too, I heard it’s good for the RUclips algorithm...
I enjoy both of your content!! Immediate click when I see them on my feed
In this community we love and support eachother!
You can in fact watch 20 different Pokemon RUclipsrs and enjoy all of them!
That's what it boils down to. Enjoying the content, no matter who puts it out. Everyone has their own style and it's not a competition. You're both great, keep up the excellent work gentlemen!
Ahh yes, back to pokemon red/blue. I'll bet this feels good for jrose after that wobbuffet video
The Bobbafet video was way too boring. Couldn't finish it. Sucks for him to have to go through that.
I gotta go back and watch that
Looked like a real struggle
It's like everything is back in it's place 😌
@@delt19 watch the very end, it had a suprise ending that was pretty interesting. He wasn't able to use the struggle strat on red so it was pretty hype
@@jromofo I knew it was gonna be hype at red. Wobbuffet has been the mvp for me in an insane amount of fights so I was happy about struggle not being used at the end.
I'd really love to see a solo run for Raichu. Not because I think it'll be good, far from it. In fact I think it might be the only fully evolved Pokèmon that will rank lower than its pre-evolution. Pikachu's problem was that it couldn't do anything to Brock because it can't actually attack Brock until it gets to level 16 and it learns Quick Attack. Raichu on the other hand doesn't learn Quick Attack and will absolutely have to use Struggle to damage Brock.
This sounds awful i love it
Raichu would use 10 more minutes than Pikachu against Brock, and smash Pikachu for the rest of the game. Soon as he gets Body Slam, it’s over
Idk. Both their attack and special may be decent early to mid, but it will have trouble during late game with pokemon with higher special and the defenses are pretty bad. It does have very good speed, so higher critical hits will happen pretty often.
Poliwrath is another example where I feel like it'll struggle a bit more than Poliwag because of the lower Speed and added Psychic weakness. But who knows for that one.
How about Wigglytuff?
That can't learn anything except Sing until it gets to Water Gun in Mt Moon.
Pokedex: "Dugtrio, noone have ever seen his body."
Jrose: "Dugtrio, use body slam!"
Dugtrio: "nice try...wait I can do that!"
I mean it makes about as much sense as it being able to use slash
The poor three headed dude probably has to shake violently underground as it tries to slam its body into the enemy. No wonder it causes earthquakes all the time.
Body Slam and Slash make sense when you consider it's speed stat. The joke is it moves so fast you can't see it.
I always invision Dugtrio having a tail underground lol
@@SvjatoslavPodoplelov I see it as Dugtrio digging fast in a straight line doing a body check since that is what the animation looks like
I love that this got uploaded at 4AM my time. I'm really struggling to sleep right now and this is just compete Bliss. Thank you jrose. I'll rewatch when I wake up. As always.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one who uses Pokemon Challenge video's audio to fall asleep to.

@@jacobellis2313 The snooze really sets in when the body slam arc starts, usually.

Feel this should be titled "How many times can Dugtrio be hit with crits"
Or like most of JRose's videos "How many times do I have to reset every battle until I get good enough luck to win, but we use in game time to make it representative of how good the pokemon is even though some need 5 resets to win and others only 1 but the 5 reset pokemon gets ranked higher because I didn't think this through and should be using real world time not in game time as that's more representative."

@@David-ud9ju tell me you’re mad at his videos without telling me you’re mad at his videos
I almost always used Dugtrio when playing gen 1.
That's because it's possible to catch one at lvl 30 right after Misty.
At that point, it just waltzes through everything the game has to offer...
Dugtrio and Diglett, are amazing at Nuzlockes!!
Just bring a Pidgeotto along to dodge their dig attacks, and hope they don't use scratch/ slash on you to kill your favourite bird. in gen 3 though, Diglett and Dugtrio have Arena trap, which makes switch impossible, unless your flying or have levitate.
Yup. And once it learned Earthquake it was a destroyer of all things that didn’t fly. Great counter vs Alakazam too
You can actually catch it before Misty if you want to.
You don't actually have to fight misty until after the SS Anne.
Good ol' Dugtrio.
When a friend let me borrow the game back in 1998, I ended up just wandering around his already completed game. It was still rather fun, but I remember I spent a great deal of time in Diglett cave because I knew my limitations with this game I had no idea about all the details. Anyways, I remember finding and catching a Dugtrio, which I then turned around and leveled up a ton. My friend wasn't super impressed obviously, but it was one of those little things that got me into Pokemon.
One of the few memories I have of my first Red play through was running into that over leveled Dugtrio in the cave and watching him slaughter my team cause I either couldn’t escape or tried to catch him, which took many tries
@@dannyt9744 lvl 31 dugtrio?
@@melancholypuppy3595 Normally you wouldn't have a Pokemon up that high a level, especially if you didn't know it was there and it was your first time playing.
That was my first shiny, a dugtrio in diglett cave. But of course it was in one of those offshoot pokemon mmo type games so it doesn't really count. I even hunted for them, but I've never found a single shiny in a mainline game. I find them a lot in pokemon GO, and have found 3 random max odds in that same mmo game, but no dice ingame apparently.
Why wasn't he impressed? Sounds like a jerk who was trying to laud it over you.
I love to see all those RUclipsrs doing challenge runs. Everybody does them different. I watch so many and I enjoy each and every one of them!
The three remaining diggett joined together to fight the massive army of geodude. Godspeed Dugtrio. Godspeed.
I'm commenting on a year old video cause of how much I have binged this gen1 series, and cause these videos have aged super well. What a great project you have to 151 this game, and I am on the support train. Thank you a ton for this content and be ready to see a comment and a thumbs up from me every time.
Honestly, some of the highlights of your narration are the "heck"s and the "holy mackerel"s. You're super creative with your moments of surprise, and the dedication to clean yet entertaining content does not go unnoticed!
Lol don't watch the stream then, I'm not quite as "creative" there 😅
@@Jrose11Do Victreebel next!
Oh snap, I'm subscribed to you. Unexpected overlap 😂
I think you could have defeated the bug catchers on the first go easily, if you had used Dig instead of Scratch.
Sure it is not very effective, but even when halving the damage of a 100 power STAB attack, you are still hitting with what is essentially 75 power move, as opposed to 40.
I havent watched yet but I think its about speed. Dig is twice as slow as scratch
@@beforeflight5566 moves other than prioeirty moves dont have any speed.

Tickles me these runs. You get through the 8 gyms and you think “wow this run is going great”…and then you check the time left in the video and realise the E4 are gonna battle him for a while 😂
That's typical of his videos. It can be excessive at times.
@@mh11213 it can I agree. But I’ve come to accept the 8 badge challenge isn’t difficult. It’s always the last 6 battles that hurt the most because of the steep level curve
@@leehackett1614 I'd argue it has a lot more to do with the gauntlet nature of the E4 then the level curve.

FYI: Earthquake with stab 150power /100accuracy. RockSlide with super effective 150power / 90accuracy. So you could have just used Earthquake against Lorelle and not have to worry about missing.
Yeah RS was only stronger vs flyers and bugs. Even slash was nearly as strong 140 vs 150 but no chance of miss
@@IrrelevantPridecrits aren't exactly 2x in gen 1
Slash ignored the badge boosts though. So earthquake would have been way more powerful.@@IrrelevantPride
@patrickmullaney1090 I was advocating for him to use earthquake and only pointing out even slash wasn't far behind in terms of base damage compared to a se rock slide
Rock slide is more powerful because gen 1 is.... strange.... with rock slide the damage will be 1% or 2% more, and if range it's involved, will be the difference between win or defeat.
In another video (diglett) he explain this.
Poliwrath would be a great one. Starts with water gun and body slam. Learns hypnosis.

I always thought surge was in the air force as a pilot. Something about having his raichu zap enemy planes just strikes me as a thing Surge would do
There's a US Naval base in Vermilion's real world counterpart city of Yokohama so I think he's a Navy guy. But who knows.

One of my favorite RUclipsrs, for some reason your approach to commentary just feels genuine and relatable and I can watch it over and over again. A lot of RUclipsrs in this style get almost robotic after you watch them a couple of times but you almost seem to keep it interesting and enjoyable for me
By far my favorite running series, and I don’t just mean RUclips series, I get more exacted about one of your videos that I do about almost anything else, please keep it up, I know sometimes times are tough and life is a struggle although the reason I enjoy these and why it seems so many others do too is your passion about Pokémon, I’ve played solo runs of gen 1 purely because of your vids and am playing through all the games I’m order now too, thank you man, gotta solo them all
Mate, so happy you're back on the regular. You got me through lockdown and I checked every weekend in your absence to see if you'd upload. Keep it up dude, you're killing it
I drive for a living and these videos are a go to for me to listen to while on the road. A lot of similar videos dont describe what is happening well enough to be able to follow them without watching.
Thank you :)
Just to show the love, I've been binging pokemon challenges from you, MDB and ScottsThoughts for the last few months, and really enjoy all three of you. More pokemon content is never bad :)
Love you and MDB equally for different reasons: you both bring different things to the PokéTube world and I for one love seeing new videos from either of you pop up! Also your videos are not way longer than necessary - the longer the video the better imo!
As a kid playing Red/Blue, I just happened to find that rare encounter of Dugtrio in Diglett Cave. I always made sure to get a Dugtrio in every run after that bc it just ruins Surge XD
Is "Jimmy's Revenge" a reference to the "Great Diglett Fainting of 2020" in the Geodude episode?
My thought as well. His player name being Trieyo (and the rival being named Dude) pretty well confirms that, I'd say
EDIT: oh, also it's in the description, lol
I'd like to see a jynx run. Destroys everything after getting STAB
Ice beam/ Blizzard + Psychic, basically destroys the entire gen 1 meta game. i think it can also learn Body Slam too!
I would definitely would love to see jynx/magmar/electabuzz tackle this
Yeah, I used Jynx in a playthrough recently, and I was shocked at how easily it just destroyed everything. Granted, part of it was trade exp, but it still seemed to have a way to deal with anything.
Yup, I always get the Jynx in Cerulean. It curb stomps everything for the rest of the game.
Early game is going to suck more eggs than Dugtrio lmao. You're right it'll completely murder the game after Celadon though. Like not even fair, it will KILL everything.
Puts a smile on my face when JRose uploads. Every time without fail. Keep up the great work.
I reckon a Weezing run could be quite good. Good physical defence, decent attack and has access to 2 powerful moves, Fire Blast and Thunder, all be it by TM.
Something else I'd like you to consider at some point is whether you getting better/more experienced with strategies would make any borderline pokemon in a tier maybe jump up? I think we can all agree that the JRose11 testing Persian and Dugtrio is a lot better with these challenges than the JRose11 testing the gen1 starters :)
It isn't even just the older runs. Like, to me it is vwry apparent that deleting Fire Spin on Ponyta was the wrong call and if he sisn't he woukdn't need to level to 80. Mistakes are unavoidable, but they are disheartening when a mon get a terrible ranking because it din't use the best tool for the job.
I think at the end of this video it really answers this question. Jrose says he considers all possible outcomes when finally deciding on the rank, not just how the actual run went. The story is about the run that we see, but the rank is about all runs in general, that was my interpretation. Yeah I'd love to see a whole run through again of optimal runs, but that's up to Jrose and who knows, maybe Ruby/Sapphire or FireRed/Leaf Green will be the next series.
@@conza1989 The end of the video is what prompted me to ask the question. He considers how hard the run was compared to how hard the other runs were, but now he's developed his overall strategy so much, a lot of those earlier runs would probably be considerably less hard (or need less effort to figure out).
i mean the one that came to my mind was squirtle since he did not use withdraw to badge boost (because he did not know how it worked back then).
@@noukan42 Have you seen the Disney Star Wars trilogy? Going back and redoing older things because you think you have better tools to do the job now doesn't always end in success.
Lovely start to the day, new JRose solo run video! Excellent stuff.

The editing in this is sooo good. Love to see you trying new strats with a new run when it doesn’t work right away.
You're on a roll! Thanks for all the great videos these past weeks, I really appreciate each and every upload 👍
Nice Run. Love too see a Snorlax Run as its one of my favourite Pokemon
I have done it myself and it's dummy easy if you manage your TMs properly
@@pikarceuseternamax6269 also, due to a gen 1 glitch, Snorlax can not be paralysed by an opposing pokemons body slam attack. don't know why, but in gen 1, body slam can not under any circumstances paralyse a normal type pokemon. although moves like thunderwave, still work fine on them. weird for sure.
That's just a mechanic that didn't allow Pokémon to be statused by an attack of their own type, so Fire mons couldn't be burned and Ice mons couldn't be frozen, it had the sid effect of doing the Body Slam thing
I’ll be honest, hearing you be so polite and respectful of friendly competition on RUclips and sharing other Gen1 content creators is crazy cool of you. As someone who has trouble sleeping I listen to these kinds of videos and they help me sleep. Not going to lie there are times where I listen to your playlists on repeat at night. You make amazing content and one of the few people I know who get the same views as you have subscribers. Keep up the good work and congrats to m keeping strong and thriving through COVID jrose.
Well said buddy
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this!
Being one of them as well!
Hey jrose you're a beast cranking out these videos so quickly for us. You're the only person I actually have the bell activated for. Every solo run is surprisingly unique and interesting all thanks to your narration skills. Sometime I put on a run I havent watched in a while at night and just listen as I slowly fall asleep. Keep it up man!
Most of our runs get us used to a combination of speed+attacking stat being the best way to obtain victory in most confrontations. Diglett and Dugtrio solo runs teach us instead that extremism is bad and we sometimes need other stats too :p.
Uhhhh no.
In the speedrun community, Dugtrio is likely one of the top ten pokes. Not a joke.
This boils down to bad routing and poor execution. Nothing against JRose, but this was a poor showing.
What routing would you have used? And what would have helped against Lorelei since even Nidoking speedruns end at around level 50. I am genuinely curious since there doesn't seem to be an easy out here. Hyper Beam isn't really accessible and EQ/SE Rock Slide does more than Double Edge. Fissure and Double Team is banned in these runs. I can't see a way that you can do a routing that would break the brick wall here, especially in a run that doesn't abuse the X Accuracy OHKO strat.
I have high, high hopes for Poliwrath, when that happens. Starts with Water Gun for Brock and Body Slam for Misty/the rest of the game.
Stats have nothing super high but also nothing super low. It gets Hypnosis at L16 and can learn both Ice Beam and Earthquake by TM for coverage options, and it has Fighting type so there's potential for "Good AI" agility baiting for setup time.
The Alakazam's will be dangerous though
Someone recently did a Poliwag vs Poliwhirl vs Poliwrath competition, and Poliwhirl actually did the best. Poliwrath's Fighting type is actually more of a liability than a benefit, and Poliwrath doesn't get Amnesia.
It's by VanMan if you're curious to check it out
Not going to lie, I was expecting more sepia toned footage with the new chapter of the great diglett renaissance, but Dugtrio struggled more than I thought it would.
Normal types get spoiled with all the good move coverage and in gen 1 a lot of other types get practically nothing.
Gen 1 learnsets as a whole are largely baffling. Who thought Golbat should wait till level 32 for Wing Attack, or that Onix should wait till level 43 for Harden, or that Rhyhorn should wait till level 50 (or 55 if you evolve it) for Leer when it learns Tail whip at level 35?
Some of these learnsets, like thunderbolt and blizzard being learnable by persian for example i think, are pretty ridiculous
Just wanted to say, love your gen 1 and 2 series! Totally brings back memories. When you mention debating tiers, doing a points system (for example, doing 1 point per level plus 10 for every half hour taken, just spitballing) leads to a tier list that is pretty close to what you have going on.
Never have a heard a bigger lie than "Jrose's videos are way longer than necessary"
Jrose: knows military hierarchy
No one: jrose is psyop
Jrose from what I heard Surge was in the Air Force. There's a video here on RUclips on the lost Pokedex, it's a booklet that came with Red and Green in Japan with over 140 pages and goes over all the pokemon. If I can find it I'll send the link as I believe they mentioned Surge
“I don’t think I lost to this bug catcher in my life…But I did.”
That hit hard lol
LT is not the lowest rank. Maybe for officers, but, not for Enlisted. Private is the lowest rank, period. And that is by going with US Army ranks. Going by Japanese SDF ranks, their lowest Officer rank is Warrant Officer, while their lowest Enlisted rank is Private.
While I would never go and insult someone like dry bread, you are my absolute favorite pokemon youtuber. Your content is just so ... cozy? I find it hard to pick the right word for your quality you exemplify. I've never stuck around a poketuber like I have with you. Please keep it up! :D

So I want to say I was skeptical about the promise about more videos coming out faster but this is a moment I’m pleasantly surprised. The video are coming much faster with a few very interesting pick and also the wobblefet video was great branching out in other challenges.

Jrose: "Let's mimic amnesia to boost our special stat" (and by extension apply the badge boosts to make Earthquake more powerful)
Also Jrose: *uses Slash which ignores stat boosts*
This doesn't really change how inconsistent the first battle against Lorelei was, but I thought it was amusing.
Edit: Do correct me if Earthquake would deal less damage due to Slowbro using withdraw. I only thought about it after writing this comment.
Ty came here just to say that. Haha
youre not wrong but he used amnesia to be able to tank hydro pump/blizzard from lapras.
I'm calculating that dugtrio's slash would be better on average than eq after 3 withdraws.
Slash has 70 base power and does x2 damage with crit. it always ignores def boosts, so it always does 140 base power. I'm not sure if it gets the intended single 12.5% badge boost because of the crit, but I know it does not get any additional badge boosts. If this is true, then slash's base power is instead 157, after rounding down.
Eq has 100 basepower and has a 1.5x STAB effect. I think the badge boost glitch is an additive effect, so that after 3 amnesias, there is a 12/8 multiplicative factor instead of 9/8. If that is correct, then eq has 225 base power with no crit. Gen 1 dugtrio has a 120/512, or 23.4% chance to crit, which does x2 damage but reduces the badge boost multiplier down to 9/8 for an effective 337 base power after rounding down. After accounting for crit chance, the expected value of eq's base power is 251.25.
Each withdraw boosts slowbro's defense by 50%, so after one withdraw the non-crit effective base power is down to 150, which is worse than slash's base power. The 337 base power crit eq ignores the defense buffs. In this scenario, the expected value of eq's base power is 193.8. We can repeat this for each defense buff to see when eq's expected value drops lower than slash's expected value of 157. 2 withdraws puts eq's expected base power at 164.7, and 3 withdraws puts eq's expected base power at 147.9. So after 3 withdraws, dugtrio is better off using slash instead of eq.
The badge boosts are applied directly to the stat, not by stat stages like growl or agility's effects. Raising your stats in this way wouldn't be affected by a crit because it's raised by the badge boosts pointwise and not by a multiplier when calculation is done
I "watch" your videos while I play Pokemon ultra sun/moon, it's easier than listening to my music playlist. You have the right energy to serve my needs
I like how you brought back "The Great Diglett Fainting of 2020" :D
I don't comment too much on your videos but I have to say I really appreciate these runs. Have been watching for a long time now and still look forward to every single video. I'm not even a massive pokemon fanatic. The narration is always on point.
Here's something that might help you: Lorelei's Dewgong will use Rest on its second turn 80% of the time. How does that help you? Well, if you have Dig or Fly, that means you can dodge its first attack, then damage it so when it rests, it will fall asleep, that gives you 3 extra turns to knock it out or set up your badge boosts.
This is like, the one advantage Dig has over Earthquake, the fact you can get some free turns on the Lorelei battle, it's not guaranteed, but hey she's the first you have to fight, so it's easy to reset if you need to rely on it.
I think you're thinking of Yellow.
I’m very happy to see you and Jimmy get revenge for The Great Diglett Fainting that happened in the Geodude video. This is the redemption arc we all needed.
"Aurora Beam is still doing too much damage! I bought, like, five calciums!"
One calcium raises your Special stat exp by 2560. Five would raise by 12800. The way stat exp is calculated, the square root of the exp (which would be 113 and some change) is then divided by 4 to give the stat buff (28), but you're only level 60, so you only get 60% *of* that 28. You raised your Special by seventeen. Aurora beam is still going to hit like a truck.
17 stat points isn't insignificant though
17 points is much more than I expected just from 5 calciums.

Been subscribed for a couple months now, i love all the content bro. As someone who played the first 3 gens a lot as a kid, this series you have been making is really exciting and its cool to see how well these pokemon stack up on a solo run
Dugtrio starts with Dig?? Well, should be an easy run (at least before Lorelei)
So glad your videos are back. They are so therapeutic to listen to while working.
Looking forward to a Drowzee run. And hopefully a Mr. Mime run
These videos have also gotten me back into pokemon games over the last 2 years. My inner child/ nostalgia thanks you, my back account curses you as I bought all the games and systems I didn't have
Love hearing the positivity - and you're 100% right. It's something we need more of. Keep being amazing! I love watching
Too much of everything is unhealthy.
Yes even positivty (which sadly many people still not believe.
"Jimmy's Revenge" made me lol like an idiot, immediately bringing up the memories of your fake documentary about the great Diglett fainting.
Now comes the revenge after the Great Diglett Fainting. Beware all Geodudes!
Thanks for not stoking ridiculous rivalries. Its especially nice for me to see since I discovered your videos because of MDB and love both of your content. Keep killing it my dude, Im looking forward to your videos!
There are people hating between JRose and MDB? I just enjoy both of their content tbh
Your videos are getting even better overall. Transitions and production just seems to be improving. This was a really good video. Great work
Love the red/blue runs! Is there a plan for a Jinx or Scyther run in the future?
It is really nice to see you uploading that frequently and the new editor is doing a very good job (I assume she/he is responsible for the new grafics during the introduction). Geat work and thank you for the entertainment!
After seeing ScottsThoughts play such challenges so much, actually seeing Bruno on a Red/Blue run feels odd.
Your videos have become a genuinely joyful part of my life. Thanks for sharing this stuff bud.
Jrose is the best, providing fun videos for all !
28:23 and in Pokemon Stadium basically every Pokemon can learn every move. First gen was crazy.
I think it's great that you mentioned MDB and your reasoning. Your narration in general is just always soothing and fun! Looking forward to the next one :)
What about trying this challenge with a Mr. Mime? Low HP, but pretty decent other stats and move pool. Starts off with confusion too.
your videos are just addicting. I don't understand why basically always the same thing can be so entertaining. you bring these videos across so well that nobody could imitate you
Another excellent video-I'd completely forgotten about the Jimmy storyline, so this was a fun callback to indulge in. As always, the narration and structure are both interesting and relaxing to listen to, especially on a work break. Thank you, Jrose~
Can you explain the Jimmy story to me?
Let's stay positive: My-Dry-Bread and Jrose11 should do a collab sometime. It would be fun.
Great video as always, I wasn't expecting the struggle at Brock of all places tbh.
Oddly poetic considering Jimmy's origin story
That's fair.
Mah−Dry−Bread would be triggered by JRose11 not allowing double team abuse.
@@ShinyTillDawn Just allow minimise abuse, since all pokémons can canonically shrink down to fit in balls. Easy fix lol
I guess that's fair though tbh.
@@ShinyTillDawn that's the main reason that I don't like his videos that much
Jimmy is just the last three surviving Diglett from the Great Diglett Fainting roaming Kanto together dishing out revenge crits
I genuinely prefer longer videos so please keep 'em long UNLESS it eats too much into your real life.
Your wellbeing is more important than us. 😊
Your work on this series has been SO MUCH FUN to watch, to experience, to just... be here for :) Thank you, and I am glad you've kept it up! :)
I'm just curious, why was rock slide the strat against Dewugon and Cloyster when it has less accuracy than EQ? I know its super effective but that gives a total of 150 power which is the same as the 100 accuracy EQ thanks to STAB.
Honestly, I like watching you and Mah-dry-bread, it's really good that yalls videos are different lengths. That way, I can watch either/or depending on what I'm doing. So thanks!
A Jrose video at midnight, huh? Alright, I guess sleep is for the weak!
To the people having trouble with other people doing Single pokemon challenges, there's something to consider, each person has different strats and approaches to their challenges. Some do it casually, some have a more analytical eye, and some just find a happy medium. It's good to have these different perspectives.
I don't think saying one challenger is better than the other has to be a toxic thing. It's just an opinion based on your own criteria for what constitutes a legitimate challenge. It's only a problem if you start insulting people or telling them they shouldn't be doing things the way that's the most fun for them.
@Alex_Barbosa It is one thing to hold an opinion, but it's another to go directly to that person and, unprompted, say that they are worse than someone else. That doesn't even help them. Use constructive criticism instead.
Ah yes, 1am, the best time to watch a Jrose11 video 😎
I usually watch this videos right before I go to bed cuz by the time it's over I'm tired as hell lol
always happens
Always pure pleasure listening to your videos. The series got me through a rough spot when I was waiting on surgery, its very calming stuff.
Hey Jrose I noticed the tier list is a bit light on grass type Pokémon. We only have Bulbasaur and Paras, some of the earliest videos in the series. Bellsprout, Oddish, Tangela and Exeggute all look terrible but would be cool to see them soon
i love using Bellsprout. Wrap is so busted in gen 1. plus my Yellow version Victrebell, somehow managed to get its special stat, with out stat modifying items in celedon city department store, to the exact same number, as the index number of the fossil areodactyl sprite, allowing me to dupe my items, using trainer fly glitch and making a ditto transform into Victrebell. In yellow version, fighting normal missingno crashes the game.
How does a mon with Calm Mind and sword dance in gen 1 sound bad to you?
@@noukan42 1 good STAB attacking move in Razor Leaf which will crit a lot and ignore Growth boosts. Zero coverage moves. Weak to Sabrina, Blaine, Lorelei, and can't touch Agatha. Sure can do well against Misty and Brock but will hit a will at Rival Fieval
@@grandmoffyoda sleep powder the first mon. Setup sword dance. Sweep. All that is needed is to not be oneshot by tje first mon that usually doesn't carry the strongest moves. Agatha is the only trainer i can think of that wouldn't be easy as hell. The hard part would be levelling to a point where you can badge boost into outspeeding.
@@noukan42 yeh fair point sleep powder makes up for a lot but as you say I think you will need to level up a fair bit to make it consistent
Jrose is one of very few, settled and ross scott are the only ones who come to mind, content creators I never get tired of
I miss the music into j rose!
9:00 I actually enjoy watching MDB, Scott's Thoughts, and FlygonHG as well as you. Just because you're all basically doing the same things you each still have your individual narration technique and ways to make the video enjoyable.
As someone who watches you, MDB, and Scott's Thoughts, I find it so puzzling how there are still people trying to pretend there could be beef between you guys. You are a super wholesome trio of Canadian Pokémon Channels and recommend each other all the time and I'm so grateful for all the entertainment you guys provide.
(And if there are any other active Pokémon challenge runners I should know about, feel free to recommend them to me in the replies, by the way)
Chaotic Meatball can be entertaining if you like rom hacks, as well as Zimbo/Ziwo/Zigwo (don’t quite remember the exact name of the channel, but shouldn’t be hard to find it). In terms of narration and strats jrose is miles ahead though, imo
@@rodrigobostelmann2309 Having preferences is perfectly fine. I'm sure you were aware, but I'll specify for others that I'm only talking about people who are actively being toxic in the comments. And thanks for the recommendations, I'll check those people out later. It feels like a lot of the big Pokémon RUclips channels aren't actually playing the games that much these days and are more concerned with reporting news, leaks, and rumors.
And you know, I'm not saying they aren't allowed to, but I do kinda prefer to watch actual gameplay when I got some free time.
Pikasprey isn't a challenge player per se, he's more into variety but has a lot of "alternate reality pokémon" playlists as he likes to call the romhacks. He has two channels and in the Yellow one he has "lock" challenges where he likes to think how to give the worst possible save to someone else to play. Blue channel is his VOD, since he streams at Twitch.
If you're still reading, I'd also recommend the Imported Cheese channel. He's more into glitch hunting but he does challenges in Pokémon Showdown, using teams from Patreon and his chat when he streams. He also makes tierlists.
Lastly, I vouch for Paraspectre. He plays challenges in the TCG and comments about the main line games in a very "movie review" way, while putting his own memories (a bit like Scott), which is neat. I actually heard about this one from MahDryBeard and I only knew about this one from JRose11 so they're a very cool, wholesome community!
Here are some honourable mentions: ChaoticMeatball makes Catch'em all Challenges, PaPaSea makes Nintended runs. They sometimes collab with other players with small channels that's worth checking out. CHAZZY is into Elite 4 Monotype runs, very competitive insight.
@@rodrigobostelmann2309 I think it's Zwigo and I actually forgot about him in my comment, thanks for bringing him up!
Really do enjoy everything about this series and grading system. Can't really think of anything i disagree with throughout so far.
Thank You Jrose11 for another relaxing and enjoyable video.
😄👍
I want to see him do "How Fast Can You Beat Pokemon: Legends Arceus With Just A Bidoof?"
You sound better so i'm glad. Hopefully thats cause you had a good rest and not cause this is an old recording. It's more entertaining knowing you're doing this in good health and (more or less..RNG aside...) having fun.
Wonderful video as always and looking forward to the rest of these!
Though it looks like mewtwo is gonna sit pretty on that throne as all the other top pokemon have already been used. Unless perhaps venasaur...? Sleep powder+growth perhaps. Though doubtful...
Idk what you're talking about, you're reading a lot into nothing tbh.
