I've done some extensive mods to the jeep platform. Using the parts in the parts bag, you can stretch the front end and 4 link it at the same time. The brass wheel wideners are fantastic as well especially paired with the Hot Racing wheel weights. The Hot Racing diff covers are also sweet as well as the adjustable shocks (add some all purpose grease to them and it will preform even better). You can also flip the electronics front and rear to help lower the COG. Good luck with it man! One of the best, if not the best, 1/24 scale crawler available.
Here is a tip for ya. There is a low medium and high speed setting on the controller and on the low setting it is so much more controllable amd crawling is much more fun. The bumper can be moved back as well :) enjoy the car dude it gave me so much fun.
The hop up parts for the Axial are insane and look to be super high quality I think the viewers are right on this one fer sure LOL Thanks for the vid mate.
That they are and pricey lol. But I have one and have the 9gram weighted diff covers. And aluminum gearbox cover and it crawls even better. Turn throttle rate down all the way and it is a dream.
I have two SCX24s and they are a blast. Had some issues with one of them but Horizon Hobbies customer support has been excellent. I do recommend buying the Venom dual charger on Amazon for $50 because the stock chargers stopped working after only one charge.
Kev you must do rear steer ..your controller has the 3rd channel just need a front axle and a small servo ..also look into the high low on the controller
I have both the axial scx24 trucks. I have a 1967 chevy c10 and the deadbolt. These are AWESOME fun for less than $150 usd. There is alot of aftermarket parts...brass wheel weights, diff covers etc. Also better shocks help alot. The hot racing oil emulsion and friction shocks help ALOT. Superb truck! Great value! Upgradable! Hands down winner in my opinion! Get yourself one and have fun with it!
Hey Kev. Yeah sounds like The battery leaking is a very common problem...happened to mine & my buddy’s as well. I absolutely love this little rubicon tho! After the 2nd day I noticed it had 3 different speeds on the remote 😆👍🏼 guess that’s what I get for not reading the instructions! Lol Great addition to the crawler fam!
Kevin Talbot yeah look for L M H switches on the remote 🤝 I find that M is a happy medium that works for just about anywhere you go but it’s always nice to throw it in high and see what she’s got! 😎
“Absolutely epic!” Yes!!! Thank you for trying out the SCX24. It is an impressive little scale rig, I love the deadbolt body but I hear that the Jeep is lower CG. My only upgrade might be wheel weights to help with side hilling. It’s perfect other than that
Some say (with experience) that for the scx24, proper tires are the best upgrade to begin with. Axial made a great looking tire, with crappy rubber. I'd have to agree. Wheel wheights and spacers, are also great. Overall the best.
The scx24 jeep was my first rc and i love it..i purchased the brass weighted diff covers and trimmed the body so the tires don't rub and love how it climbs the courses i create
Awesome vids you have , also on the scx24 you can flip the front bumper for more clearance and you can do a rear stear conversion , check it out . Have a wonderful Christmas
Hey Kev I owe a massive thanks to you & your content, I made the switch to Lipo literally today for my hsp brontosaurus pro & MASSIVE difference in performance & run time!! Thank you im finally getting off the nitro band wagon.
I ordered one. Came a day late on a holiday road trip looking forward to driving it when I get home. Also ordered a Gatekeeper that should be there as well when I get back.
I'd like to see you put the rc4wd's micro scrambler tires on all of them, just to see how they compare. With the 1/35 body the Devastator is like a comp crawler, the others are more like scalers! The Axial scx24 has excellent steering and is surprisingly fast, BTW! Looking forward to the next one!
I been flying micro to 700/800 helicopters for a long time. So I decided it’s time to start something new and purchase this Scx 24 Jeep. Now I’m hooked and want something bigger now.
For the kraton 4s get banggood shocks for it and the outcast 4s I think their is shocks that work pretty well or something besides stock that doesn't leak
I had a trx 4. I was fishing in a river and I broke off, so I when to my car about 20 ft away. Then I heard my dad tell what are you doing? I look over and it drove in reverse into the river. As I watched it sink I ran down the bank and got waist deep into the water. Keep in mind that there was ice floating down the river. I had the car off. I know because my light bar was not on. As it speed off in reverse it was smoking. It smelt like esc. Traxxas said they can't do anything because I was not able to retrieve the car. I had the car for 2 weeks.
I'd say overall the Scx24 is the best. The tires are a nice size, but not sticky squishy enough, should be made of something like the X2S³ Compound. Also, the Deadbolt frame is a bit different than the Jeep, making the Deadbolt a bit better up hill. Though the Jeep, could be better down hill, with more weight distributed even centre. And that body is quite nice!
You should check out carismas msa-1E you can order smaller pinions gears for it. I set mine up with a 10t pinion and I also ordered the scx24 tires and glued them to my carismas stock rims. It's a great little rig. You can also order 350mah 2 cell lipos for it from carismas that fit the battery tray perfect. I love it.
Would love to see a comparison b/t Axial and FMS Smasher 1:24. I feel like the big, soft monster truck tires might give the FMS an advantage in a lot of situations.
Mount the bumper straight onto the frame and burn two holes in the body for the lights to shine thru. Clip a notch on the bottom of the bumper for the servo arm and mount the ft shocks down to the frame at the tower mount. It'll then climb a wall head on. Add wheel brass and both dif covers and you're good to go.
Hey kev, Just an idea, but have you thought about creating an indoor suspended Rock crawling course in your shop? Its a good use of space and could make for some really unique angles for filming, as well as you and Pat can do a head to head Rock crawling battle. From across the pond in canada, RCrepairGuy P.s. would love to see an episode of you and RCsparks meeting up for some crawling
WORM GEARS = hill lock.... When you have worm gears it will stop the truck when you're not on the throttle and you would think it would affect the power but it doesn't it's a great design
Man, you just made a sale no doubt. That eye candy of a Jeep looks like a lot of fun! Well done friend. Great demo 👍. *I hit your link. Did you check out that silver C10 version?..
I see Axial is releasing this crawler with a couple choices of Chevy C10 truck bodies, I will be debating picking one of those up once available. Even though they call it a 1967 but the front end of the truck is from a 1970 and up model with the less sloped hood, but that’s alright as I have a real 1971 GMC so works for me.
I have a deadbolt scx24 and they are much better with some heavy wheel hub weights. It wont flip on that climb with those. I also want to get some grippier tires for it from rc4wd.
Awesome you finely got 1 man! I’ve done lots of mod and run videos of the scx24 on my channel! Jeeps not as capable but I Love my mini deadbolt scx24 😊
Kevin I have a question. Have you ever built a Baga buggy B5 with stealth motors that you put right into the WHEELS. There also known as the silent beast. More or less a hub motor.
The Devastator is the best mini scale crawler as you mentioned, but it is just from another Universe ;-) From the Scale category my favorites comes from Furytex
Kev you need to try the danchee ridge rock it’s actually really high quality for a 100 dollar cheap car 4 wheel proportion steer and throttle recommend showing ppl how capable this crawler is
I bought the white version last week and I ain’t stopped playing with it. (That’s what she said!)
lol
I have the white version too. Man I love this thing.
Same just start looking for the connections to charge the battery cuz that charger is garbo
marxnex71 same. Bro 😂😂😂
I got the yellow one, but the white version probably looks better,

The steering circle can also be adjusted. But on smaller turning circles you can really hear the servo working hard.
@@joebone3151 makes sense since it doesn't have a diff
@@DaneH64 actually it does have a differental it just is always on or locked I don't remember.
@@joebone3151 I know it has one, but it basically isn't there since it is permanently locked
Also tip since the motor isn't being used at full power and it's brushed it will burn the motor out quick but all well they cheap...

It’s also got 3 speed settings. Took me about a month to figure that out. Who reads the directions?
The axial does
Getting an scx24 tomorrow , this video helped me make that choice
Kev you must do rear steer ..your controller has the 3rd channel just need a front axle and a small servo ..also look into the high low on the controller
Hi, Kev. I absolutely love my scx24! Considering adding rear steering just for shits and giggles.
haha same!
im more hyped to watch a vid from you than waiting for a movie to come out.

I just got one for Christmas and I really like it. Great review
This is probably my favorite rc crawler you’ve done a video on
Please review the panda hobby tetra X1. To be honest I think it’s better than those two. Maybe not the one with the rear wheel drive
Hey Kev. Yeah sounds like The battery leaking is a very common problem...happened to mine & my buddy’s as well. I absolutely love this little rubicon tho!

The upgrades for these are awesome..
The AA batteries in my SCX24 spewed acid on me as well. That Devastator surprises me everytime, i need to get one of those also. Great vid Kev 🤘😁
Same experience here. The batteries leaked and the charger burnt up after one charge lol. Love the truck and controller though 👍I have two sets now.
Can't wait for the 4s kraton video!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they are all good. Miss a little bit of control and smoothness on the slow crawling of the CR-24 though. Maybe the SCX24 got that?
Kev is actually really smart
I have all of these and we love them Kevin... My kids and I have a blast!!!
I bought the gladiator and it does good . Planning to upgrade the wheels and suspension.
