Ok, had some time to sit and enjoy the vlog..... Beer 30 is early today (-;.....
Get some smaller 5x9 envelopes yellow and use weekly and then put them in your month envelope with numbers on outside like you're doing. Easier to go back and find when you have to..... Receipts, bols, and such...
Are you figuring in your weekly fixed costs , insurance, license truck, license trailer, workers comp, VAT tax, etc.etc.
also..... You should have 2 maintenance accounts 1 for maintenance and 1 for tires.....
Also need to set back 350-400 a week truck payment and 200-250 a week trailer payment and set these up on 44 weeks of revenue not 52 weeks....
We will cost ourselves 1 month off,,,, vaca, sick, knuckleheaded decision...
The truck will knock you down 2-4 weeks broke down ..... 1/2 a day here 3 days there....adds up....... weather will cost you a week, ..... dispatcher, shipper, reciever will cost you 1-2 weeks every year over the whole year...
PS.... Get an APU.....or similar system....
At 5$ a gallon the difference is 3 tenths
apu use to 1 gallon idle time per hour...
We idle around 12-14 hours a day for comfort temps as well as blocking outside noise, and the biggest is security, sleeping safely. At 7-10 gallons a day savings at 5$ a gallon.... 35 -50$ a day savings adds up..fast. At 3$ a gallon not so fast but I ain't seeing much better gettin built round here lately!!!
Stay safe hoss, stay busy... Like the oldtimers always said..... we have 7 months to make money, 3 months to break even and 2 months to hold on....

Very good info. Yes I have a few different savings accounts for the oh crap instances. Your analogy on all the time off is spot on. Except for the time I take off. I’m probably at close to 2 months off so far and we’re just half way through the year. 😂

Fuel cost were 73 cents a mile
    at 7.5 mpg that's 2.5mpgs better than most .... that's a huge help

Thanks for the insight. Other guys throw out big numbers but don't pull back the curtain on their expenses. U r going about it the right way IMHO. Fuel and inflation are killing us all (thanks gramps) but when the dust settles you'll still be standing🤘

I’m going to try. Just depends on how heavy that dust storm gets. 😂

What about your truck washes, and meals? Those are tax right offs too.

I do the daily per diem for the city I’m in that day. Usually comes out to more than I spend. As far as washes if I do get washes on the road then yes that gets included. Most of the time I was at the house with the pressure washer.

Based on those numbers - you also own your truck and trailer outright? How restricted are you on load weight with the single axle? Obviously it is not hurting your totals :D

    • @DosGringosRanch
      @DosGringosRanch  2 года назад +1

Yes I own them out right. I’m restricted to 34k which can be a headache every now and then but I normally don’t have a problem finding good freight in my weight class.
