My dad is Greg Stone, he moved over to KFOX when KOME switched formats in 97. He worked under the radar doing commercials for KFOX when people started recognizing his voice and wanted Stone Trek back. Then in about 2004ish, KFOX gave him his show back. He did Stone Trek on KFOX for about 3 to 4 years until they laid off all of the DJ's at KFOX and he has been out of radio ever since :( Its sad because of my dad he tuned me into Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jean Luc Ponty, and my idol Kevin Gilbert

Your dad helped my band Puzzleview back in the early 1990’s. He was great to be around:)

Your dad is one of my heroes. He was influential and introduced me to so much great music. I have many friends who would say the same!

Dear Michael, your father will truly be missed. I played some of his shows on my channel today in honor of him. He was responsible for my introduction into progressive rock. I hope he knew how far his influence has reached. My prayers are with you and your family.~Sebastian

LOVED his show!!!! And I did recognize his voice doing those commercials.

Met him at a Marillion show at the New Filmore in San Francisco in '86. Appreciated his having introduced me to so much prog; I used to tape his show, because I knew many of the records he spun would be relatively hard to find!

I can echo the sentiments on here as well. Stone Trek helped shape my early musical tastes and it has had an impact to this very day. I recorded it religiously over the years, and still prize those tapes a great deal. Now I'm a musician and hopeless prog-addict :) I truly hope your dad is doing well and aware of the positive impact he had on people's lives.

I met Greg in a community college class about the time he was renting some space in the shop that became his used record store called Galactic Zoo. I was good friends with his brother and was in the studio (a small Los Gatos radio station) the first night he did a Stone Trek program.

Stonetrek changed my life from 1978-1994. I lived in Santa Rosa. He turned me on to Progressive Rock and I've seen 100+ concerts like Yes, ELP, Genesis, Rush, Pink Floyd, Jean Luc Ponty, UK, Bruford, King Crimson. It literally brought me to Jesus 'cus of Genesis and Yes. It's my religion...music. Recorded many shows on KOME 98.5.
Thanks Greg Stone....do anything to hear a new show.

I miss this show! I have actually talked to Greg a couple of times during the show (no really, I called him twice.). It helped shape my musical tastes.

Amen to all the Pro-Greg/KOME comments! Please tell your father that ONLY because of your dad, did I branch out away from just the Rock music of the day and stretch my ears and imagination towards early Jethro Tull, Focus, ELP, Marillion , Genesis ( I could go on and on...) and help influence my guitar and bass playing to levels I never would have aspired to had it not been for his wonderful radio show. The only independent Radio left in the Bay is KFOG. I miss KOME so much and that music era!!

WOW-Not only did I attend and recorded both shows at the Oakland Colliseum, I was a huge fan of the Stone Trek radio show in the 70's. I recorded 90 minutes of the Stone Trek show on 8-track tape in 1977 featuring a live performance of Genesis doing "Counting out Time" from the Lamb and a 22 minute version of Pink Floyds "Shine on You Crazy Diamond Parts 1-9". I still have the 8-track recording now on cd, but the Genesis shows are long gone.

I remember going to the Galactic Zoo in Los Gatos that Greg and his brother ran.
I turned on to Camel, Hawkwind, Genesis. I still have the business card from that store.

I also spent a lot of time in Galactic Zoo. I was good friends with his brother Tim. I went to several concerts with them. On the day that Dark Side of the Moon came out, a few other friends (I think Joe Kelly from KOME was there) and went to Gregs house for a listening party.

I'm a big fan of your dad. He got me into classic rock while on KFOX, when I was about 13. It's sad that CCC kicked the KOME/KFOX out of KFOX, and that he hasn't been on the airwaves since. I recently picked up a KOME sticker from your dad.

I know this is going to come off lame and sappy just reading it here, but as a passionate music lover, it almost brings me to tears thinking of the state of radio, the music business, and the overall QUALITY of music between the 1980's and 2013. You all do realize that in about 3-5 years, the CD itself may be gone in favor of digital downloads, thus, stripping even MORE sense of ceremony from the good old days of rushing to Tower Records on Bascom Ave to go buy that new Robert Plant record...

It's really too bad there isn't more U.S. recordings of the 1992 tour here, or even in official release. I've only heard a couple '92 US leg tour recordings, and they sound much 3x better than the European leg. Phil just sounds exhausted on all the Europe recordings, most notably Home by the Sea, here he sounds great, but on all the oversea recordings (the ones that are found everywhere), he sounds absolutely worn out, giving everything he had. The '92 Vienna show is posted here on RUclips, and at that show, he sounds like he had a major bronchial infection and cold hold key. I appreciate all of the recordings, but did anyone ever tape the U.S. tour? They are just...... better!

Although it was hard to stay up till midnight on a Sunday night, it was well worth getting exposed to some fine progressive music.

@1970borntorun If you think that's lame (which it isn't), I'm about to sound really ridiculous. I agree with everything you said, but I wasn't around in the 80's. I'm stuck in a time warp. Haha. The only music I listen to is from that era (Genesis, Yes, Rush, Starship). I recently purchased Genesis' "Duke" and Phil Collins' "Face Value" on vinyl because it's much more 'real' and raw than just downloading it to your phone.
I honestly couldn't name a popular group or song that is playing on the radio now a days. I'm completely nostalgic to a time when I wasn't even born. I really wish I could travel back in time just to see Genesis in their prime.

Note to self: Never ask Tony Banks about Eno.
