Although I hate the way all music sounded in the 90s. Thin/digital and we can't dance is horrible sounding compared to the earlier albums. The songs were great still For me this is genesis at their peak the old medley was 👌

Great that this exists. I woz there. Great show but not as good as the times I saw them play in smaller venues in London.

As a very enthusiastic observer of the Solo Peter Gabriel Experience, could not miss the Austin Coliseum on 12-10-1982 in small town Austin,TX. Gone now. It was basically a large Quonset building, a sports arena with bleachers down the right and left of a basketball court. As intimate as that could be, am I lucky or what? Shocked my monkey.

My first Genesis album was invisible touch and then I collected the rest. My first Genesis tour was We Can't Dance. I saw the turn it on again tour and the last domino tour when they said farewell. They are by far my favorite all time band. I loved watching Phil solo and Genesis live. My favorite memories. I will miss them playing love!

i bought this album as a reissue on decca in 1974 and it was called in the beginning- thought it was pretty poor record-listening to it now many years later,it sounds like a great debut album by genesis- it sounds a bit like zombies/procol harum/moody blues/pink floyd- i would rather listen to this than all of the 80s genesis output

My first Genesis concert 1992 ... I was 19. WOW WHERE DID THE YEARS GO? I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE GENESIS LIVE. PHIL COLLINS IS A GREAT DRUMMER I MISS WATCHING HIM PLAY ..

Incredibly, from the beggining, these lads didn't do covers.

I'm a Fish fan, but here Fish is clearly lying and denying his own faults. Not a word about his drinking, drugs and bad attitude. 1988 he left the band. Could not have been long after this interview.

My future wife and I were there at Texas Stadium for this concert! Great time!

Too much same old same old, for decades! Good band, but Bruford was right, they just insisted on sameness to the exclusion of all else.

Il timbro della voce ricercato, sembra provenire da un’altra epoca nel passato o nel futuro .. Completata da quelle immagini riferite a secoli passati .. Battute di caccia .. Immersi in suoni di un’altra natura ..

Curata la ricerca di nuove sonorità , complici nuovi e costosissimi effetti come il Mellotron .. o veri e propri sint per chitarra ..

Una cosa certa é che l’esecuzione ricalcava perfettamente l’originale sul disco … Non c’era una nota fuori posto. Un improvvisazione o una variazione … Gli elementi della band non si muovevano .. se in piedi .. Anzi Steve era seduto tutto il tempo … Intento con la pedaliera a pescare le modifiche che permettevano di interpretare come una fotocopia .. l’originale .. L’unica eccezione era per il cantante Peter Gabriel che, sfoggiava maschere o pettinature … ricercate .. C’era per la prima volta uno schermo alle spalle della band .. Proiettava immagini “psichedeliche” collegate al testo … Mi sembra, immagini floreali … Mitica la maschera da fiore di Peter Gabriel … Oppure da vecchio già decrepito nell’aspetto … ma perfettamente in forma … A parte lui, se il giorno dopo uno avesse incontrato per strada che so, Tony Banks piuttosto che Steve Hacket .. non l’avrebbe riconosciuto .. Il divismo esasperato era in pratica assente … Se uno non era interessato a suonare uno strumento, si limitava a guardare Peter ed i suoi trucchi .. Oppure il quadro posto dietro .. Curate le luci .. Nel senso di effetti .. non esagerati .. Non mi sembra ci fossero effetti laser .. Forse quel poliedro che rifletteva i raggi ..

La qualità delle serate musicali erano comunque di gran lunga peggiori di oggi … Si pensi solo che non esisteva il divieto di fumare .. Ovviamente sigarette “normali” … A che se …. non è che fosse possibile andare a controllare .. In quella nebbiolina .. nuvolosa .. Quasi sempre in piedi .. Gli anelli del Palasport in over load … Gente in piedi ove possibile … Fino alle porte d’uscita … Di certo chi era interessato a questa musica era una “elite” di intellettuali … Non era proprio considerata Pop .. Occorreva conoscere pure i testi. Magari capire di cosa si occupavano .. Non erano testi facili .. Qualcuno era riuscito ad interessare qualche prof .. per capire che “cavolo” volessero dire .. Probabilmente non lo sapeva neanche la prof … La traduzione lasciava perplessi … Ancor oggi non è che proprio io sappia a quale .. “box” si riferisca il titolo in : “Musical Box”

Accontentiamoci della qualità visto .. che molta gente s’era portata voluminosi mini registratori abilmente “inguattati” tra le merendine preparate dalle nonne … La cosa assurda è che oggi con un qualsiasi smart phone la registrazione supera la qualità di ciò che realmente le orecchie carpiscono “live” ! 😅

I love bootlegs of live shows. You get the concert exactly as it was. I really enjoy the story telling and stage banter. Few live albums contain any of that.

There used to be a bootleg on youtube featuring some of these mixes along with other songs from the era that were never released, including a song about a shipwreck or something like that; does anyone know what I'm referring to? I can't find it anywhere.

Saw this tour front row center at SIU Carbondale on Dec 7th. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Hearing this audio brings back great memories. Thanks for posting.

I really can't tell you the impact of this album on me. Not in 25 words or less, anyway. An inauspicious beginning? To some, yes. But you could say the same thing about The Cheerful Insanity Of Giles, Giles and Fripp, and history records the musical force that was unleashed by the core members of that trio.

2023 Genesis and Phil still THE BEST forever, for the eternity. Genesis n'aurait jamais eu autant de succès sans cette Sainte Trinité qu'est Phil, Tony and Mike, la Magie de cette Trinité unique hors du temps qui nous fait et fera rêver pour l'éternité. Ce sont vraiment les meilleurs encore à ce jour. Même intensité et émotion à chaque écoute. Merci !
