Yes, keep the details. If someone doesn't need that much detail, they can always fast forward. 👍🏻
Thanks for the feedback Belinda 👍
100% agree, for whatever it's worth!
@@EverydayHomeRepairsYep. Think of it as reference material… not just new content to consume. Future subscribers will find your channel by finding a reference video for their project!
I agree
Keep the details.
One thing tho', sometimes you use fast forward, and fast talking, during the actual fastening and connecting, which makes it hard to follow. I know you're trying to make the vid shorter, and ffwd is good, but some things need to be at normal speed to see what you're doing. So be aware of that when you're editing the video.
Yes, please keep the details. You gave a perfect explanation on the installation. I’m a complete amateur, and your details are extremely helpful. Thank you.
Regardless of anyone's experience, it's always good to have a refresher of information. Excellent video.
Details never hurt plus keep you updated. Thanks for sharing. Artie 👍
The amount of detail you have in your videos is great. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing this if you didn’t have this level of detail.
Great, thanks for the feedback!
You used the correct mounting bracket. However, the ROUND shaft and turning with your hand makes it difficult for the metal spikes to dig into the ceiling joists for maximum holding power. I have seen similar bracket with the shaft shaped like a hex (not round) in order for a wrench to securely fit onto the hex shaft and properly outstretch the metal spikes. Great video.
Totally agree. I winced when he said he had to hand tighten it. No possible way that will be as secure as something tightened with a tool.
You need to be careful though. I had one with a hex and I easily over tightened it and the joists moved enough to pop a few drywall screws. You should really only do it by hand
keep the details and the honesty(led vs separate light fixtures in fans)!
I agree, keep all of the detailed information. Those time stamps are nice too. And thank you so much for producing this kind of content! I subscribed a long time ago because you are very good at delivering the information in a clear, easy to understand manner. You are easy to listen to and I can find exactly what I am looking for by just going directly to your channel. I don’t have to hunt and peck through endless other videos.
The Hunter fans are great, I've had problem-free operation of them for many years in my rental property. You definitely want to spend at least $100 on a ceiling fan. The low-cost lightweight ones easily get out of balance, often hum as they operate, and are just junky. You really get what you pay for!
You hit all but one salient point. Fan sizing for a room. Most manufacturers and some local codes recommend a minimum distance of 30" from tip of fan blade to the nearest wall. Details are awesome. Great vid 👍
More details and information is always good for younger people to learn new stuff!
Just bought the same exact ceiling fan from Lowe's and will be attempting to install it using the same old work brace. Really appreciate this video and the level of detail you took the time to go into. This channel and This Old House have really come in handy over the past 3 years of being a new homeowner!
I enjoy the deeper explanations. I am already pretty confident in my know-HOW for most DIY projects, having grown up in a family of carpenters, general contractors, and handy-men, but I also like to know WHY. Many times when I was learning these things growing up on and around job sites, I was shown how to do them but never told why.
Last year when we moved into our new home I did 7 ceiling fans. Two of them replaced lights but I was able to use new work boxes from the attic. The most astonishing part was the variety of boxes and screws that the builder used on the original 5 fans. Everyone was a new type of jank.
I really appreciated the details about the different electrical boxes. For a lot of jobs, finding the right supplies to buy is the hardest part.
Yes. Please keep all these types of details.
I just told my husband I'm loving this video, and how detailed and informative you are being.
Please don’t stop the details, it gives clarity, direction and options when deciding what to look for and buy at the hardware stores.
Thank you!
All the extra detail helps me so much, I have anxiety about projects but always want to prepare myself as best as I can. Having the extra information helps me feel better informed about if I can diy or if I really need to hire out the job. I'm going to attempt this job soon & I feel moderately confident and well informed because of this video. Thank you!
I like having the extra install details. Haven't put up one of those old work brackets in over 20 years so it's nice to see if this is still the way to go and I'm doing it correctly. Thanks!!
That kind of detail is very helpful. Talking through the options for what is right, and what is often seen that might be wrong is really helpful because we can then understand the wall of options at the hardware store.
That detail on the different boxes was great
Yes, I need that amount of detail on electrical boxes. Great video!
I will probably never do this job but enjoy your teaching style. You are extremely thorough and easy to understand. That's why I watch your videos.
Yes, please keep the details coming! As a novice DIYer, I appreciate the additional information you provide.
Details are needed for diy people . I’ve learned so much already. for those that do not need as many detail, they can check the timestamp in the description box and forward to the section.
Thank you for being kind enough to provide all the details.
I’m glad you go into the different boxes to mount your fan or light but give option to go forward
Thanks for the feedback.
👍👍😎✌️🤟 Well, done! Finally someone has the whole process done correctly for attaching a heavy ceiling fan so someone doesn’t eventually get hurt or killed! Congratulations.
Hunter has a fantastic RUclips channel that does a step by step on how to install one of their fans. That's what I used to install mine. Works great!
Thank you I need all the details I’m a serious amateur
Thanks for the feedback 🙌
I've been doing electrical and other home improvements for years but I can always learn something new 😁 I love how you include ALL the different steps and hints for installation of items 😁 keep up the good work 😁
1. Looks like a good video; I'm watching it now.
2. THANK YOU so much for chapters!!! This means you can go into detail (which I really enjoy) without bogging others down who might just want to know, "what box should I use for this job?"
Thanks, Scott! Hopefully you have a friendly competition there on the channel. I find your videos here really very good, very watchable. Hopefully the housing market will crash so I can FINALLY get in on hopefully a fixer-upper and start to apply all this knowledge. :)
Yes keep the detail. Its good background for the cases you dont see everyday but might in the future
Yes, the details are appreciated. Also appreciate showing any mistakes (if they happen) and how they were rectified. Excellent videos all around. Thanks
I'm looking to replace a small ceiling light with a fan in my office and I love the amount of detail you went into for the electrical boxes. I think of myself as fairly competent, but this isn't my wheel house, so something you point out could be something I would have never thought of. Appreciate the work you put into your videos
Please keep the detail. I have decades of home and business remodel work and often learn something or are reminded during your tips.
Please keep the details. The breakdown of the electrical boxes was exactly what I needed! Thank you!!
As a beginner (ZERO knowledge) the greater the details the better. Thank you for your contents.
I was really nice to get an informed overview of option categories; thank you!
Oh my goodness thank you for the detail on the selection of electrical boxes. It's always such a pain trying to figure that stuff out.
Those electrical box details were exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
Yes, like the additional. After all, it's very important and in need of consideration to those who may not know about using correct boxes. By the way, really enjoy your channel, keep up the good work! 😊
@9:12 The amount of detail was just right. I knew about fan-rated boxes, but the only version I knew of was the type you installed. The additional information about other types of fan-rated boxes will be of use when I'm at Big Box Store, staring at a seeming mountain of stuff. And a good warning about integrated LED lights, something that a lot of folks miss when buying the light or fan.
I think the more detail the better, it makes this accessible to everyone not just those blessed with common sense.
The electrical box detail was great. I really didn't have any idea on how to select one and really the ease of the one you selected gives me more confidence to tackle a job like this.
Thanks for the feedback!
the more detail the better with these projects. Keep up the great work.
Feedback: I love how you went into detail on how to use the bracket, I was confused and this video helped me with my first install. I went to Home Depot to play around with a bracket there and thanks to your video it was a piece of cake
More details. That was very informative. Wish this was explained to me the first time I wanted to install a ceiling fan😅
Hi. You can never have too much information. Thank you for your guidance!
Please keep the details! Thanks for your easy-to-understand videos. They are invaluable.
Your detail is perfect. I was not even aware of the types of mounts that may have to be used.
All the details with the chapter sections works great. People can skip the sections if they like.
Love the detail. I am looking to replace an existing fan but this now allows me to know what to look out for. Thanks for your work.
All the detail was perfect! I wouldn’t have known to check the box type otherwise
Yes, definitely keep the details. It's great information to have if you are doing a project that you have not done before. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback!
Keep the details. The ceiling box is important. I like the start-to-finish instruction. Good job and thanks!
Details on the box was perfect! Exactly what I was looking for thanks!
Love the extra, detailed info on the boxes. I am one of many beginners that watch your videos having no experience with these things, so the extra info is awesome. The others can skip past if they want!
Thanks for the feedback and support 🙌
Thanks! Really appreciate the detail explaining the differences in the electrical boxes.
I think that amount of detail on the different types of products and how to use them is a great thing because then I get to see products that I’ve never seen before or maybe I’ve seen them and I’m not familiar with what they are used for
I personally love the details. They can easily be skipped those not in need of them or viewed by those who need/want them. For people like me that grew up without a dad in the home I learned a lot from YT videos after purchasing our first home 13 years go and like to learn why in addition to how.
The details are what set you apart from all the others. Well done!
Yes, keep the detail. You have helped me a lot on my diys around the house. Thx a lot!
🤗THANKS SCOTT FOR HELPING THE DIY COMMUNITY ,FOR SAFETY AND HOW TO 💚💚💚
I like the extra info on box selection, haven't really seen that info before and will definitely take into consideration for future fan installs. Thanks
The details are absolutely helpful! It’s good to know other options which could be useful for other projects.
Absolutely want the details. Helps those who may need to use an alternate method.
The details are great. I have had the delima of removing the old brackets. Looks like I will break out the the bolt cutters.
I loved the detail about the boxes. I am a novice DIY guy.
Please keep the details!! And types of fan rated boxes. I learned so much from that part alone to help with my fan.
Regarding feedback, more detail is moar betta!
Great video. You explain things clearly with just the right amount of detail!
Definitely keep providing the details. The more details, the better the video.
This is exactly what I needed to know. Great detail and ty for showing how to install the bracket you used.
The details are really helpful. I need to reinstall some ceiling fans that the previous owner didn't do right but i didn't know where to start, this helps immensely.
Details were great. I new there was a difference between "old" and "new" but didn't know exactly what. This helped a ton 😂
Great video! Thanks for breaking it down the way you did. I had no idea about the different types of electrical boxes that were available.
As usual, you clearly laid out all the steps. The amount of detail was perfect. Keep it up.
Thanks so much!
100% right about the light bulb/permanent LED situation, but the manufacturers will eventually put an end to that.
Since I’m a new DIYer….I prefer the longer video. Thank you for the information…new subscriber here😊
Thanks for the detail on choosing and installing the correct ceiling brace. I really appreciate that detail. I saw a few other videos that skipped over that part and that was the specific step I was having trouble with. 👍
Great! Thanks so much for the feedback.
All the details + chapter selection is the best solution for everyone.
Agreed, thanks for the feedback
This is the right amount of detail. We need to understand the considerations for an installation like this, and your video provided that level of information. Good job!
Thanks so much for the feedback!
I installed three in my upstairs bedrooms, used that bar system like you said take your time and they worked well👍
Your detailed explanations are always helpful. Keep em in! 👍🏻
I like all the detail. Please keep it coming!
The mounting bracket details were very important to me as I have a fan project but have never attempted one before.
Great video, LOVED the detail on the electrical box. Thank you for this, I'm putting in some fans in my house so this was super helpful.
Great video! Keep it up with the detail and nuances involved with diy electrical installs!
This is exactly the details I needed to see. Thank you.
IMO the detail on the components is very helpful and appreciated and also what sets your channel content apart from the rest. Please keep it up.
Love (and appreciate) the level of detail
Great video. I'm needing to install some recessed lighting in my home office and two of the places where I'm wanting to place the lights have an angled ceiling. Got a video for that?
Thank you foe walking me through boxes! Your a lifesaverA
Even though I have installed multiple old work ceiling fan rated boxes now, and multiple different ceiling fans; I still learned a few things like the Loctite trick for the blades! Pretty cool. I have actually never used Loctite for anything but I will be purchasing some of the blue stuff to try out!
Yes please give the extra information for us that don't have a good basic knowledge. If you have a good basic knowledge you can skip ahead. Rule of thumb: it's better to have to much and not need it. Then to need it and not have it.
I always appreciate that you really help us beginner DYI'ers
Yes, Please Keep The details. Always helpful.
Perfect amount of detail!!
When in doubt, include detail ! Great lessons! Appreciate your time and effort!
Thanks for the support 🙌
Like this level of detail, because I suck at figuring out stuff on my own, and it usually results in several trips back and forth to the store....
