    Installing ceiling fan bracket without changing out the existing electrical box. In addition to this bracket we have two more for if the box is installed between joists, and those too can be installed without changing out the box. Unfortunately there is a delay in getting these brackets finished in time so it looks like we will be getting them the first or second week of September. we will have our website up before then and that is where we'll be selling them until we can get them into Home Depot and Lowe's. Thank you for your patience.

    The EZ-Brace 101 is an awesome product. One of my ceiling fans fell since it was originally hung from a plastic light box. I don't have access to the lightbox from above to swap it out, so had to find a solution within the light box. Thankfully I came across this video and ordered an EZ-Brace 101 from Fixture Support Systems. It came in the mail a few days later and I installed it the next day. Super-easy to install. These definitely hold at least 150 pounds. My fan won't be coming down again. Great product!

    Great design and time saving design. Your weight test is the selling point! Those other brackets sort of mount to the trusses or rafters but, they sit on top of the sheetrock too. Also the time saver really is the re-wiring the box after you finish. Usually the wires are too short after you change the box out! More work, more time and aggravation!

      @@robertleo9744 Quick question. The fan I installed is an awesome little caged fan/light. It's still sometimes making a "ticktickticktickticktick" sound. But it sometimes doesn't make a sound after several hours running. I'm sure the bracket is solid. However, I forgot to install the small stabilization pin. Should I take it down, take it apart, reinstall it or just let it run for several hours to see if the "tickticktick" works itself out? I'm not sure if it's the screws in the fan, or the very slight swaying and rubbing of metal. Thoughts?

    • @robertleo9744
      @robertleo9744  9 месяцев назад

      When all the screws are tight there is absolutely no way there would be any kind of movement between the EZ-Brace101 and the fan bracket to be able to make any noise. I'm not sure when you say the stabilization pin if that's a pin that goes in for a down rod or what. Those also have set screws to hold them. Hopefully this was some help for you.@@jonbuckley7406

    Not listed so as an electrician I can't install them, but despite being very skeptical when I first clicked on here, after looking into the product I think this is legit. As long as it's a nail on box and you know where to angle the product to sink into the wood, the screws are the right guage to support the motion and weight of standard fans. I hope to see this expanded upon in the future!

      @@rogueteach5197 If your metal box is attached to the joist you can predrill (you have too predrill through the box if metal). Because of the angle the hole might have to be big enough for the screw. only one out of over a three thousand sold has there been a screw break, it wasn't explained to us as to how it happened but I can only assume it was because of the metal box and the screw going in sideways. The screws we use are very strong and that shouldn't happen. The screws we use you can pick up at Home Depot they're spax screws. If your box is not attached to the joist and you don't want to change out your box you can use the EZ-Brace200 or EZ-Brace216. Thank you

    Unfortunately the EZ brace 101 wouldn't work in my situation-ceiling light, no room for it in the plastic elec. box, there were 3 separate cables going into the elect. box, 2 on one side, other one feed through the other side of the plastic box and they all 3 feed through the center of the box not though the upper part of the box. There were like 12 or more wires in the box, so no room for the brace to fit up in the box without hitting one or both of the elec. cables wouldn't fit up flush. So couldn't put a ceiling fan in the center bedroom...

    Robert, thanks for the video, and making us aware of this product. One question: When I remove the old light fixture, and I see that I have a plastic box, how do I know which side of the box is attached to the joist? In my attic, there are 18 inches of insulation on top of the ceiling, so it would be quite difficult for me to get up there and dig around in all that insulation to find the plastic box - in order to see how it is mounted to the joist. Is there a simple way to tell, after removing the light fixture, to determine where the joist is, in relation to the box - without going into the attic, and without removing drywall? I've ordered the EZ Brace 101 and I hope I can install it properly. Many thanks!

    • @robertleo9744
      @robertleo9744  Год назад +2

      You can take a thin flat head screwdriver and wedge it in between the box and drywall and probe around. That's probably the best way if not using something like an icepick and poking through the ceiling than using some silicon caulking to dab the holes afterward if the holes end up being outside of the installed fan canopy.

    I replaced my first fan w/o much problems except that the new one had a remote receiver which made it difficult to squeeze the wires in and close the housing. I used space saving push in clips instead of traditional wire nuts which made the job possible. However, when I attempted to replace the second fan I discovered that the new one needed a bigger and different ceiling fan-box and decided it was too much work and mess. I put that fan away to wait for better days and moved on to replace kitchen light with a new one. As I opened the packaging for the new light I just bought I discovered a huge 9 inch bracket the new light came with. I put that one away too to wait for better days. Something always happens...

      it's in the process of getting listed, and as far as box fill although it may look like it takes up some room, it virtually takes up no room.

    the last portion of the video looked like it was hanging in a different location. Next to a door or some other opening? . . . so close to the back wall, is it a 6" fan blade? So many questions. But I'll try the product and test it for myself.

      All portions of the video was recorded in the same place. it wasn't in a room with a door, it was a made up ceiling that was lifted to show the installation of the EZ-Brace101 and lowered so that I can hang the weights from the fixture bracket

    Unfortunately my electric box is not right next to a joist in any of my bedrooms. The builder centered it between two joists so I need a different bracket

    Moving into new mobile home, which is a single wide home. Will this brace work in a mobile home because want to install a ceiling fan in master bedroom that currently has a can style led light?

    • @robertleo9744
      @robertleo9744  Год назад

      When you say can style light I'm thinking recess light, not knowing if it is a 4 inch or a 6 inch light or if the can is directly attached to the ceiling joist. If the ceiling fan canopy is able to cover over either the 4inch or 6 inch can opening and you're going to use the can as the electric work box per say and it's attached to the ceiling joist it should work.
      You should also check to see if the depth from surface of the ceiling to bottom of the box "can"
      is at least 1 3/4 inch. Hope that this helps you.

      @Robert Leo thanks for the reply. Can let you know on the diameter of Can style recessed light. Honestly looks like 4 inch, but will check

    My house was built in 1966. The electrical boxes are all metal. I doubt that those TORX screws will be able to go through metal. What length drill bit would I need to create a pilot hole using the bracket? I'm going to see where I can buy these brackets in Nov.2022.

    A twin is better than a single as long as both engines function normally (aircraft analogy) as long as both screws hit the meat of the stud your good to go.
