Ive lost count the amount of ceilings fans Ive upgraded, or installed instead of a light. If you have attic access, always do the extra work and go from top and do what he did. Takes longer, dirty and sweaty. And then you know it will never go anywhere ever. This video is spot on.
Finally thank you this old house for this I've been meaning to install my ceiling fan. Good thing my tiny home is all bare in the joists so I can just put the grab bar on the joists and wire my fan box in then insulate.
Timely as I have an update for a fan due this month. I also appreciate the safety glasses. Sure the risk of losing an eye is low but devastating, but the risk of taking a bunch of dust or blown in insulation in the face, flinching, and taking the fan with you as you fly off the step ladder is much higher and much, much more embarrassing.
I would have put in the same kind I did. A 72" 9 blade fan. Moves way more air which is nice especially without ac than the standard 52" which I don't even think that one is.
How low is the blade from the ceiling? In this situation, code requires the blades to be a specific distance from the floor. I think they're afraid some 7 foot giant would walk into the room and end up decapitated from the fan.
The box they use screw down clamps that typically come installed in the box. Looks like they took the clamp out before threading the wires, but they didn't show him screwing the clamps back in. The holes he drilled in the wood was for the machine screws the clamps use so the clamp screw wouldn't push into the wood.
@@Rymac91oooooh - ok, that explains both of my questions. Thank you. I couldn’t see the wire clamp either. And the “predrill for the machines screws” made me think he was installing the box to the wood support using machine (not wood) screws. Makes more sense now
Waste of money. What Heath did is plenty stout enough to hold the weight, and will resist swinging better than a metal crossbar. Those metal bars are more for people without attic access.

Definitely approve a celling fan upgrade especially to a older house energy efficient better to then old fan.

It says “replace”, not install. Just an FYI.
Ceiling fans are pretty easy, just might need a second pair of hands.
@johnlebzelter4208 grammar bots out here hatin hard

Did anyone else sneeze when he brushed the insulation around at 6:01
Would like to know the brand of the fan. The one listed in the details is not the same fan. Thanks
Do you turn the power on before or after this?
During.
what you should do is ground yourself with some nipple clamps and turn on the power to test.

So much for cleaning off that ring of dust on the ceiling!
Is a cable clamp not required in the box, since this isn't a seismic zone? Or is that part just on the cutting room floor
I like the old fan better.
Do you not need a wire clamp on the box?

👏👏👏
Looks smaller than the old one
No clamp or wire restraint on that box WHAAAAT THE
There is one: ruclips.net/video/VE6HKqolNaI/видео.html it's hard to see since it's an internal clamp, but you can just see the edge of it.
Don't you just live all of those unexpected obstacles to work around? 😅
I think i would have ran two 2x6s across the cieling joists and mount the box perpendicular to the joists
Well no one asked you. Just saying.

Smart home connected fan. “Alexa, it’s getting hot in here!” “Ok I’ll play Hot In Herre by Nelly”
didn’t like the new one’s design doesn’t match the room
This specialist know what need to do...
The old must be repair...
With Global Warming, she's gonna want AC to help the fan cool better.
love how the poor home owners just redid there house then they walk around with their shoes on
You take too long
Good video, but a missed opportunity to share how a pro connects a threaded wire with a solid wire. 🤔🫤
