Single woman here, I love RUclips University! Thank you for this! I’ve been needing to replace a broken light (old ceiling fang just like yours actually). I’m convinced I can do it after this video. I’ve already tacked a heating unit, sump pump, sink pipes & washer. Now a ceiling fan. Wish me luck! Thank for your detailed video!
It is funny, I had some people tell me that I have a Google degree. The dumbest comment ever. We can learn sooooo much from pros like this one. They are our new teachers....I feel like a kid in a candy store. I switched one ceiling fan a while ago using a video. I come back to refresh myself.
I have never done this before. I am almost done with Radiation treatment and as soon as I feel strong enough to climb on a ladder I wii be doing it! ☝️😊 Summer is already picking in and the one I need replaced is broken. Thank you for the tutorial!
I was always scared to replace my faulted ceiling fan because I thought it would be very complex. After watching this video, I did it in one afternoon smoothly. Thank you so much for the guide.
I was sitting on a ceiling fan project for probably three years due to fear of “burning the house down”. Your video was clear, concise, and easy to follow; with help from the wife and son we got it done in around an hour. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I would have never attempted to do anything like this on my own, but I really wanted to surprise my husband. With your video, I was able to replace our current fan/light all on my own and didn't burn the house down, so I consider that a win!! 😂 Thank you again!!
I just finished changing out the old Hampton Bay with a new one. It went great thanks to your video help, you made me look like I know what I am doing! One problem though, NOW EVERYONE HAS A FAN FOR ME TO INSTALL, FOR FREE! Oh well, you helped me so in appreciation I'll play it forward and help them. Peace my brother. Keith Kolb USN/Ret

Love this video! I am going to replace my ceiling fan by myself! I can't wait! Hush, don't tell my boys! I am 70 and full of vinegar! I don't want to be a burden on anyone. I'm very independent!
This video gave me the confidence to try installing 2 ceiling fans myself to save money. And- both work!! I'm so excited. Thank you SO MUCH for the step-by-step guidance!!
Absolutely the best how to video I have ever watched! Thanks so much for the feedback, Jennifer. I always try to keep the videos concise and relevant, but some turn out more wordy than others. Let us know how your project turns out!
I just purchased my first place. Great video with concise and easy to understand guidance! I’m changing my living room fan first next weekend (Out of 3)I’ll let you know how it goes. My home is from 1966 so hopefully the pre-existing work is okay. Subbed!
Thank you for this video. Out of the box, it felt beyond my capabilities. But, this video made it look as easy as I originally expected it to be. I have subscribed and will be watching for more housing upgrades.
Did it!! Your video was so much easier than others I watched. I’m clueless about electrical but this made it easy. And I’m happy to report the house is still standing and the fan works!
THANKS Robert!!!!! I was a little bit worried, (primarily about connecting different color wires from the ceiling box to the new fan), but your explanation was GREAT!!! Thanks!!!!
This video is FANTASTIC. I went home on lunch to get my new, low-profile fan off my porch and ended up just swapping it out after having watched the video; took an entire 15 minutes!
I'm encouraged! I think I will attempt to change our kitchen ceiling fan... Maybe I can get help from my son before he moves out or a friend. Hubs is swamped with other projects! Thanks for making this😊

Oooo okay, this seems really simple actually!! Definitely made me feel like I could do it myself. I like my ceiling fan but it's making some.... funky noises... so its nice to know just in case. Also when you also said you could pay someone under a 100 to do this I'm like that sounds super tempting too 😅
Thank you! Great straight forward info and easy to understand. Nice job with the appropriate video shots. I think I can do this project thanks to your help!!
Thanks for sharing this video and also show how you remove the old fan as well thanks it really helps me to know that I can do it without an electrician hopefully cause this what I want to do in our living room and we have one in the kitchen too. They are old fans too don't want to work anymore 😊

Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.
Excellent instructional video; easy to understand, easy to follow the step by step procedure and I know I can install my own replacement fan myself except for one problem. If I go higher than the second step on a ladder I get very dizzy so to solve that I will call a professional electrician to do the install. Besides, my orthopedic surgeon told me to stay off ladders because I already shattered my ankle and broke my fibula in half from a bad motorcycle accident. Thank God there are pros who we can count on.
You should still have your neutral wire connection, ground wire connection, and both the fan and light connecting wires will connect to the single live wire. You will then have both the fan and light wires connected to the single switch. This should leave you with the pull chains as your way of turning either the fan or light off if you want to use them independently.
Best practice is to twist the wires together, both at the insulated part and at the exposed ends before putting the wire nut on to help keep them together and from falling out of the wire nut
It's funny cause I tried to replace the fan after I took a deep breath. Then I found a sticker indicating the model number (after looking forever), so I googled it and found a customer service number. They walked me through resetting the fan and its WIFI apparently. So now I have an App. No fires.
Speaking of house fires, I cleaned out 2.5 gallons worth of dryer lint from my dryer and vent pipe. The numb nuts' that installed it crushed the rigid flex duct so bad that there were holes in it. I had to remove lint that was literally burnt from behind the dryer basket as well where the heating elment is. Scary sh*t. Luckily in our household we never have the dryer running when not at home. Shouldn't even do it while sleepinghonestly. My Father asked me to replace a ceiling fan in his apartment that he rents which is why I am here. I work on much more complicated projects on a daily basis. But I love to watch RUclips videos before doing some tasks for the first time. Thanks a lot for the video sir.
