Me being a wood elf joining the storm cloaks.
Ulfric: Why join us elf?
Me: I Really REALLY HATE the Thalmore.
Ulfric:......that's fair.
Yes my Bosmeri brother the Thalmor will get theirs, ruined our land and way of life. They will see their fall and hopefully one day Valenwood will flourish once again. Honestly was awesome playing Stprmcloacks as a Wood Elf how they start out questioning you joining them and by the end of it considered as kin.

Pokecrafter135 I'm Imperial but that's fair
Eleonora M. Stop in the name of the jarl you have committed crimes against Skyrim and her people what say you in you defence
I join Ulfric because the imperials decide that the dragonborn should be executed without any cause other than being a part of the group. We weren't on the list, we weren't suspect of anything. AND THAT MILK DRINKER OF A CAPTAIN CALLS TO EXECUTE US SECOND ( FIRST if you don't count the guy who throws himself to the chopping block). >:(
Deppresso Esspresso same bro same. Plus that voice 😍, homies for lifr
Sadly for me, joining the stormcloaks comes with one downside. Losing Your own friend sitting in the throne of whiterun, Jarl Balgruuf
Yeah, the other guy doesn't even look like a Nord
yes, but in my opinion Balgruuf was a fool and even a traitor. I mean half of the people of whiterun are pro stormcloaks and he still just ignores them and joins the empire. PS: You can meet him in Solitude if you want to (after the Battle)
Balgruuf is not a good guy my friend 🙃 you should research about him more!
Hm. These comments are interesting
@@amirhosseinkouhestani475 obviously nobody has clean hands
The real solution is:
You, as the Dovahkiin, take Paarthurnax and all dragons you can find (Bend Will shout) to the Imperial City, take over and create the Dovah Empire. Then you fight the Thalmor (or make them flee to their island in terror), undo the Concordat and essentially, recreate the Dragon Cult, but with you in the center, instead of Alduin
Or you all can just accept elven supremacy
you could have mirrak as your loyal servant by using the bend will shout on him
So in your scenario, Aludin wins lol
No, Alduin wanted to destroyed the world, and just that
@Dex4Sure Alduin is death, Alduin is the World Eater, Akatosh is creation and life. If you "became the new Alduin" you couldn't create a new Empire, it'd be your natural coding to destroy and dominate. lol
General Tullius, one of the greatest strategists of the Empire.
"I captured Ulfric, better not execute him first, let's execute the random guy that's not on the list, that'll teach him. It's not like anything, like a Dragon, for example, could save him anyway".
Lol seriously
That's what I was wondering as well. only reason I could think of why he didn't is maybe just to make ulfric watch as the people who supported him die one by one before he goes to the block. maybe Tullius was hoping to cripple Ulfric in spirit. so he would truly be defeated both in body and spirit. only thing i could think of other than the Empire were just a bunch of arrogant dumbasses who thought they had all the time in the world.
@@DGDDice Still though killing a random person like the Dragonborn first before Ulfric was just plain stupid
You're only saying this from hindsight, a dragon coming in to save the day is like expecting Sephiroth and Mario with the army of space invaders saving Hitler -- who could have anticipated that?
@@SerendipitousProvidence Anything else could have happenned, point is, Ulfric was the most wanted man in Skyrim at the time and they decided to kill someone that was not on the list, and completely unrelated to the Stormcloaks before the most wanted man. What if a Stormcloak cavalry arrived? What if he somehow managed to get rid of his gag and used his voice? What if another monster arrived (shouldn't be to uncommon in a world like Skyrim's)? At the end of the day, the thinking head of the Imperial Legion decided to keep the most dangerous man alive longer than necessary and he paid the price.
The Imperials think we need their laws. Pffft.
[E]
My cousin, I thought you were out fighting dragons.
@@MarkarthCityGuard Brother? Why do you never visit anymore? This dumb civil war has us busy.
@@lilithoblivion934 I've been thinking the same thing, it's been too long.
seems u guard brothers have forgot about me.
I'm still disappointed to this day that they didn't make a path where the Dragonborn becomes High King.
Honestly, the Dragonborn should use the legions and nord militias loyal to him/her in Skyrim and just take out the Mede dynasty with the help of the dragons and then unite the human kingdoms under the empire. Crush the thalmor, instigate and support bosmer rebellions in valenwood, attack the argonians to force them back into the swamps, thereby gaining the loyalty of the dark elves, and then go on to reforge Tiber septims empire from the ashes of the Mede dynasty and the dominion
@@jarrodmccurry2294 Fuck yeah. Destroy those goddamn Thalmor.
@@pepethefrog6809Well in lore it is said you can only challenge the throne if you don't use any inborn abilities, so the dragonborn would certainly be counted as one due to his blessing of akatosh (the thuum). I really would've liked to see the dragonborn as the high king, would've carried this war easily.
@@L_Lawliet1907 Would be interesting. Tiber Septim was even an emperor, the first emperor, and he's a dragonborn too.
There's a mod for that
Doesn't matter who you join, it's bad news for the Thalmor. A Imperial victory would mean the Imperial Legion would get their hands on veteran troops. A Stormcloak victory would mean that a independent state could seek alliances with other provinces, like Black Marsh (who are a independent state as of the events of Skyrim) and Hammerfell (who stopped the Thalmor march and forced to give them back their land by treaty).
Agreed. It's basically the same outcome but different circumstances
But the empire has more troops and resources and there’s no guarantee that the Argonians would want an alliance with the Nords since the Aragonians are isolationists.
J 19 argonians probally would not ally with the nords seen as the xi eel (I think there called) are pretty much in control of black marsh and they are very racist. however hammerfell may as they would share common enemy and high rock is so divided that some states would most likely sympathise with the nords
@Backstreet Boris- Agreed👍.
I also think House Redoran could ally with the Stormcloaks.
The biggest reason I choose Stormcloak is simply because the Empire's "scorched earth" strategy. They don't care about ruining Skyrim or killing it's people. Your character at the beginning could just be passing through but you get roped in because "forget the list, he goes to the block".
It sucks knowing at any moment the Empire/Thalmor can just decide to kill/torture you for no reason.
You seem to ignore the fact that the reason we were imprisoned was for illegally crossing the border. Us being sent to Helgen was a mistake, but not us being put in prison.
@@dutchpatriot17 so we’re beheaded for something so minor not even treason
@@theprotagonist2025 No, we're beheaded because the Captain thought we were a Stormcloak. Which was a mistake.
Also are we gonna ignore the fact that when the dragon attacked Helgen, General Tullius said “get the townsfolk to safety”. So much for not caring about Skyrim or killing it’s people.
@@viscid5279 they need those townsfolk to produce resources for the empire

Last Dragonborn: [FUCK THE IMPERIALS!!]
General Tullius: "I'm sure your being imprisoned was all a terrible misunderstanding."
Last Dragonborn: FUCK.. YOU..!!! 🖕😤🖕 = ☠️☠️☠️
You have no idea just how many people joined the Stormcloaks in retaliation for that whole mess regarding your being sent to the block when you weren't on the list.
Obviously, the intension of the developers, was to clarify to the public in general, that the Septim Empire of now, is no longer the Septim Empire that they once knew. In fact, it does not even have the Septims in charge of the same anymore, because the last descendant of Agnorith Septim, Martin Septim, died to end the Oblivion Crisis, which also caused the aventual return of Alduin, as it had been prophesied centuries before the start of TES 5 & registered in Alduin's Wall.
@@ricardowesker9416 The logo of the main menu, which represents Akatosh, the Dragon God of Time, with the missing tip, also was obviously intentional by the part of the developers, to represent the prophecy said in "TES3: Bloodmoon", which clarifies that when the last member of the Septim Dynasty dies, then "The Third Empire of Cyrodiil" will be doomed to collapse; Something that obviously starts to happen, after Martin's death!
@@hentalface9237 That allegation by the part of "Tullius" is extremely cynical, especially considering the fact, that he was there all the time, watching, and listening in close proximity, to the "Imperial Captain", who decided to execute everyone present by herself, regardless of whether they were members of the Rebel forces or not.
Lokir: He just stole a horse (Sentenced to execution)
Last Dragonborn: He just cross the border (Sentenced to execution)
Why you should join the Stormcloaks:
1. The Septim Empire is dead since the last Septim heir died.
2. This Mede Empire is not the legacy of Tiber Septim.
3. Who the hell do the Empire think it is, banning a legit God?
4. Why can the Thalmor kill, torture and arrest any Nord they want?
Is the Empire the henchman of the High Elves?
5. Making Maven the Jarl shows how corrupted the Empire is.
6. Giving up Markath is the pussiest thing ever done. Hail Ulfric who freed Markath from madanach!
7. Hammerfell is kicking high Elf ass. Skyrim can do it, too
Well, the imperials are forced into a treaty, a treaty that will be ended soon as a new war with the dominion is on the horizon. A war everyone needs to assist in. Starting an internal rebellion might be the worst thing you can do if you don't like the Altmeri Dominion.
If independent skyrim joins the fight with the dominion, you just wasted a ton of men of Skyrim for nothing. Nothing but a few extra years of free talos worship and no Altmeri forces in the nation before the war starts.
If this war is lost without skyrim involvement, wich it is more likely to be lost, skyrim is next to go, with fewer allies now.
If the war is won, I see no reason in the rebellion, as all will become to normal again. The only real enimy of the empire would be Argonia, and Akavir, a continent with forces so powerfull, a united Tamriel is needed to fend them of, maby Argonia too perhaps, you never know with those Hists. But Argonia would be the only nation that probiably wouldn't be willing to join the empire again, maby summerset too, but that depends on how much the war was won.
If Ulfric really wanted to show those high elves what's up, don't rise up the the puppet, but to the pupper Master. Round up some men, get on a boat, go to Summerset, and slash some Elf steaks. Aspecialy when the puppet is willing to, and able to, and likely to, rise up to the puppetmaster.
@@-gemberkoekje-5547 The Empire will not win against the Aldmeri Dominion in their current state, with Skyrim or without. They lost Hammerfell, a province that supplied some of the best fighting men, and Nords are all that is left when it comes to warrior races in the empire. I don't think Nords should bleed for a shitty empire that trampled their rights and watched neutrally as people were bent to the Thalmor's whims. Hell, I wouldn't want Skyrim to remain Imperial even if Thalmor was for some reason out of the picture.
Technically the Empire only banned Talos worship after the Civil War broke out it was more suppression of a Rebellion move. The Romans did the same thing to put down rebellions
@deakon - You’re forgetting about the warrior race known as the ORC . The Nords aren’t the only race left in the empire !
Hammerfell only fought off the Dominion because there armies were weaken due to the war.

I don't think the empire can ever "win", because the roots of Skyrim's anger are deeper than just one rebellion. Being forced into a war to preserve some distant, dying empire's geopolitical position only to be rewarded with crippling debt, kneecapped independence and the very same enemies being *allowed* in to murder and torture all those who worship a time-honored god will *never, ever* end in anything else but an _unending season_ of rebellion, as they say. The only way to make the nords stop fighting for that is to break their spirit and their identity altogether. So the empire has 2 choices: lose skyrim forever, even draining massive resources to keep it pacified indefinitely, or leave quickly, which would be a bad thing for the Thalmor according to they themselves.

naturally as an irishman you have to join the rebels
I honestly join the Stormcloaks because, while yes the Empire also wants to end the Thalmor, the empire is divided with internal strife (see Dark Brotherhood quest) so it wouldn't be hard for the Thalmor to use leaders in Cyridle to turn against the Empire
Meanwhile the Stormcloaks are united under Ulfric, so wouldn't try and fight each other for power, and the Thalmor will have some problems making shady deals with political leaders sence they all HATE Elves.
Not to mention, while yes Ulfric was mulipulated to cause the civil war, he still seeks the end of the Thalmor, and if he has the Dragonborn by his side, then such a power could easily wipe out the Thalmor as Talos did so long ago
The Stormcloaks are a lot weaker than the Imperials. The empire has a larger army so they have a better chance of winning and separatism from the Stormcloaks would only strengthen the Thalmor by weakening its biggest enemy, the EMPIRE.
@@Valencetheshireman927 Now they got two biggest enemy's. Let's see what the Redguards think about duel-wielding these elves to oblivion, ey?
@@Valencetheshireman927 The Imperials being larger is actually a disadvantage, because it is more leverage the Thalmor can use to manipulate and oppress Skyrim. They are already owned by the Thalmor, but the Stormcloaks own themselves.
Hm, valid points. Especially when you do the research required to realize that “Talos” is more than one person or, “god” Talos is actually 3 different people or “gods” 🧠. You actually changed my perspective cheers, brother.

General Tulius Armour is one of the strongest and versatile armours out there (it doesn't even interfere with mage armour perks) and it matches the Konahrik mask perfectly. There is only one way to get it legally, so yeah, I do approve of this video.
Daud, Killer of the Empress
But it’s not as epic as killing him for that sweet armor.
@Marcus Antonius It doesn't interfere with the Alteration perks unless you have the Unofficial Patch installed.
I loved the empire as much as anyone, but they are gone. They died along time ago. Its time to cut off the head of the false empire and the thalmor
agreed it died at Red Mountain form me
the Empire died with Martin
@Commander M117- The empire is not responsible for what happened at Red mountain ! Secondly, the empire ISN’T DEAD!
Obeying the white-gold concordat is only temporary. Soon the second Great War will emerge and the empire will be victorious!
J 19 yeah but let skyrim be independent. There are benefits. Skyrim can trade with the empire, fight along with the empire, skyrim would be rebuilt, nords can revere Talos in peace, and probably the Nordic pantheon like Shor, Orkey, Mara, Kyne, Ysmir (Talos), Tsun, Stuhn, Dibella, Alduin, Jhunal, and Magnar. Also Skyrim will Economically grow by trading with the Empire when it’s independent.
I usually lean Stormcloak. The Stormcloaks and the Empire both recognize the Thalmor as the true enemy, and I believe that should Skyrim win its independence then they would fight alongside the Empire against the Aldmeri Dominion. The civil war isn't out of hate for the Empire, but just freeing themselves of their rule. And I see the suppressing of a religion, especially one as hard-coded and real as Talos, a just cause for war. A unified Skyrim, a unified Hammerfell, and the Empire against the Aldmeri Dominion is how I see the conflict progressing after the civil war. Of course, this is just my view, who knows what would really happen.
If Ulfric had simply talked to Torryg about declaring independence from the Empire, he probably would’ve done it. Its been said that Torryg actually looked up to Ulfric. Skyrim could’ve been free from Imperial rule without bloodshed.
@@jerodbrown7339 Yet the dumbass just had to use his shout for such a shitty act against one who couldn't use it. That part I agree on that duel wasn't on fair grounds. So the guy that let Ulfric escape deserved his punishment and tried to lie saying it was a fair duel. BS now if it was against the Dragon born or another shout user then yes it would be fair
@@notavailable8201 there is nothing that say that you can’t use the voice in a duel
@@notavailable8201 technically while maybe dishonorable Ulfric using his thuum or shout wasn't actually against the rules because he trained, practiced, and honed it for decades Skyrim law dictates that you can't use an inborn gift in a duel for the crown you can only use skills you have trained in so yes his claim to the throne is legit, but i believe a stormcloak victory would be bad for skyrim so i always side with the empire
@@lydiadiangelo2588 Same but also to watch Ulfric squirm like a bitch against someone stronger in the way of the voice make him feel what the High King felt Ulfric was still a idiot that boy looked up to him and would of listened to what he had to say if he actually spoke to him like a real leader would

I join the Stormcloaks for one major reason - they can offer me something that the Empire, with all its power and wealth, cannot offer: knowledge that the Thalmor can't just knock on my family's door and arrest them while I am out adventuring. Seriously, I felt a great deal of relief when I returned to Skyrim after the end of my Beyond Skyrim Bruma campaign because I could breathe the free air again (play Bruma to know what I mean). That poor guard captain :(
This is by no means a perfect choice as an independent Skyrim would need to basically build a new government from the ground up and could be vulnerable in such a period. We can't keep using Imperial Septims so we will need a new minted currency - the list goes on. And of course, a Rebel Dragonborn is probably not welcome in Imperial Territory, so no going to the Imperial City and staying at the Tiber Septim Hotel (you will be able to in Beyond Skyrim but it makes no sense).
But to my mind, everything that one could hold against Ulfric and his Stormcloaks, such as their bigotry, are not necessarily reasons to support the Empire. Why? Because the Empire was never interested in dealing with such problems to begin with. See aftermath of the Great Collapse in Winterhold 80 years ago - that was when the Empire was in control. Where were they then? Did Imperial Legionnaires step in to stop the Dunmer from being driven from their homes by angry Nords? No. Brunwulf Free-Winter as Jarl of Windhelm is a coincidence, sheer happenstance - it is not Imperial policy.
And the fact that the Empire stops the Thalmor from invading Skyrim is not really all that much a point in their favor. They will still stop the Thalmor from crossing an army into Skyrim even if Skyrim becomes independent. That's why Ulfric is concerned with the Thalmor turning an eye to Skyrim's shores - he foresees an invasion by sea and not land.
In the end, a Dragonborn committed to preparing Skyrim for the next Great War would have his or her work cut-out either way. But at least with the Stormcloaks ascendant we don't have to worry about the Thalmor nosing around.
You also get a better political standing working with Ulfric. As a Stormcloak I basically end up the Champion of a High King, while as an Imperial I am just another soldier who never even meets his Emperor (unless I kill him). Ulfric practically regards you as kin, no matter your race. True, he does this because you are Dragonborn and he doesn't want you going Lü Bu on him, but I can dig it.
Lastly, this question of whether to stay in the Empire or leave was already answered 25 years earlier by the Redguards. Last I checked, the resistance to the Thalmor is alive and well in Hammerfall. And the Dunmer of Morrowind couldn't care less about the Empire. Far from being indispensable, the Empire has shown itself apathetic at best to the needs of its allies and people. In Morrowind the Imperial allies of House Hlaalu were downgraded, and I am sure the Forebears of Hammerfall are having buyer's remorse. An Empire that cannot protect its political allies can best be described as such: Doomed.
The empire isn’t doomed and is th best hope for Tamriel because only a unified opposition is capable of defeating the Thalmor . So creating an independent Skyrim only aids the Thalmor .
Saying an Independent Skyrim is better for fighting against the Dominion is like saying Texas can fight off all of China....
ZoomerX24 Hey, if a few British colonists who were typical working class could do it in the 18th century, Skyrim is in good hands with the stormcloaks
This is the most insightful argument i've seen to this day
@@maiqtheliar446 Thank you, it's certainly some testament to Skyrim's longevity that we still discuss this topic across the internet to this day.
However, Bethesda crafted a flawed story when they established the current status quo in the Elder Scrolls universe as of Skyrim. No nation, save one utterly defeated and occupied, would have transferred actual police powers to a foreign state as the Empire did with the Concordant. And a "Peace" lasting 25 years with all this is mind boggling and not based on historical happenings (it was 23 years between the 1st & 2nd Punic Wars under more favorable terms for Carthage).
I hate that, despite the myriad flaws built into the Empire, Bethesda clearly played favorites with it as a faction. The best leaders Jarl Balgruuf supports the Empire, and seeing them removed by force never sat well with me. They also have the only field commander with any substance, a High Elf who hates the Thalmor and tells you about their crimes.
I don't know if I'll side with the Stormcloaks in a later playthrough, as I find that lore-wise it limits the amount of things I should be able to do in later mods (visit Cyrodil etc.). But I would only side with the Empire for purely selfish reasons, such as getting to live in a fixed-up Solitude. But my prior reasons for the Stormcloaks are still there...
Something I noticed that was kind of interesting is that the Storm-cloaks were oddly Scottish. I mean the term milk drinker originates from Scotland, the Skyrim Civil war kind of has some parallels with the Jacobite uprisings, especially in how they refer to Ulfric as the True High King of Skyrim.
It’s kinda weird that my character is a dark elf and joined up the rebellion but many dark elves actually hated the rebellion except for my character🤷🏻♂️
Well at the end of the day, Ulfric and all of the Stormcloaks would respected you even though you are not a nord
Only because you survived Helgen and were the Dragonborn, otherwise he'd toss you into the slum.
The empire wants all dark elves to be isolated on solsthiem

Its none of my business anyway sorry
I'm with the Stormcloaks on this one when an Empire has failed you you have no choice but to secede their outcry is Justified take away their religion and way of life anyone would feel threatened a little bit of a rebel myself so I could totally understand why
The ban on Talos isn’t permanent it will only continue until the next Great War . The empire isn’t broken not unless more secessionists decide they want out and would rather live under the Thalmor ( Until the Thalmor destroy Mundus to become immortal again ) .

Both sides are racist and religionists. The Empire was going to kill me for nothing. Fuck the Empire.
I understand your point of view and it’s natural for you to join the stormcloaks. But it’s much better for Skyrim if the imperials win. Skyrim is a fairly weak province and vulnerable without the empire. I like Nords, I main them but they’re not as smart as the imperials strategically. Also Ulfric is a snake. Torygg accepted the duel so he could go to Sovngarde. Ulfric knew this and took advantage of it.
@@aydeps5057 Aye. You may be right about that but you aren't considering the dragonborn. Think about it, two users of the voice on the same side
Brixen Chright You’re right, the Dragonborn will definitely make an impact. But regardless, if the Dragonborn stands with the bigger side then the odds of defeating the Aldmeri Dominion are much higher.
Besides, yeah Ulfric knows the way of the voice but you can’t really compare him to the Dragonborn, given that he only knows Unrelenting force and disarm whilst the Dragonborn can summon two dragons. Even if he can use the voice he still got himself captured by the empire like we see at the start of the game.
I joined the Stormcloaks because I have some reasons here is why I join Ulfric's cause
1. They have more of a plan to take Skyrim and rule it independently
2. Ulfric gives a better plan of what needs to be done and knows what needs to be done
3rd and final reason. The Stormcloaks are more willing to take the cause and fighting for what they believe in
The only thing imperial sympathizers have is saying that mankind would fail without the empire but the empire is allowing the suffering of mankind under the thalmor
That and calling the city with the most diversity in Skyrim that accept and honor any who join their freedom fight regardless of race racists.
all hail the stormcloaks, the true sons and daughters of skyrim! i swear unconditional loyalty to ulfric stormcloak, true high king of skyrim
How to weaken the empire:become listener of the dark brotherhood and kill the emperor 2:get a giant bounty in haafingar by killing so much imperial soldiers 3: steal their tactic books 4:install a mod to kill essentials to kill tullius or elisif 5:just kill them with console commands and mods
Kill NPCs with console commands or mods can easily break game quests and would also never be relevant as canonical events.
Long live the empire!!
@High King Ulfric Stormcloak - Jarl of Windhelm Indeed ! The true sons and daughters of Skyrim who know the empire is best for Skyrim .😁
Yes Hail Ulfric! Nords are true and only race of Skyrim. No Argonians, Khajits, Elves, Imperials, Bretons or Redguards can take away our true traditions. I played as a pure Nord and have made myself a Nord family to keep the Nordic legacy. Maybe Ulfric aren’t the most welcome of foreigners but hey at least his honest xD
You know I love how even years after skyrim was first released we are still having debates on things like this in comment sections and other places. Shows how much is lore is there for us to debate for one side or the other.
To bad Bethesda will most likely drop the ball with ES6, if how they handled fallout 76 is anything to go by.
You know game is good, when even after a decade, we continue to discuss and debate about it.
Ulfric: * offers Riften for Markarth *
Tullius: “You just came here to further your own gain!”
Also Tullius: * tries to shakedown Ulfric for Winterhold and money *
In a neural peace council it's Ulfric throwing the tantrum.
The thing is Ulfric didn’t offer Riften at first… The dragonborn suggested it, and it’s not even Tullius who says that line, it’s Elisif… Get your facts right at least.

I love how you do your home work and cover all sides, in this one you give solid points on why to join the stormcloaks, in another you give awesome solid points on why to join the Imperials. In the end it is up to the individual player on what to deside but the understanding of the whole story for any subject is the most important to be able to choose the best choice and make the best decisions. Awesome job with your channel my friend, one of the best that I have seen for sure 😊 keep up the awesome work 😊
I joined stormcloaks because my Character wants to rule. Using the Stormcloaks to get rid of the pesky empire rule is the 1st logical step.
I’d hate to break this to your character but he chose to rule the province of Skyrim over the ENTIRE empire . ( Skyrim, High Rock and Cyrodiil)
You have to support Ulfric if you are an anti-imperialist. The Empire chooses the king of Skyrim instead of the Jarls of Skyrim doing it themselves, that is why there is so much danger and deprivation in Skyrim. And half of the Jarls are corrupt and do not fight bandits or care for their people, they seize their property and collect payments from them to pay off massive and unfair debts to the Empire. They repress the religion of their people and allow the Imperials to set about their own laws of capital punishment, conscription and special treatment in Skyrim. There is talk of the Nords being racist against Elves (even though Windhelm is the only city in Skyrim that offers a refuge for Dark Elves and they have equal rights in the city.) But what about the racial supremacy of the Thalmor over the Nords? That is the real racism in the scheme, the Thalmor stir up reactionary hatred of other races in Skyrim by settling massive groups of people there who conflict with the Nords. People say Ulfric only lusts after power when his only goal was to become a Greybeard before the people called upon him to be their Jarl. He despises war, having been a veteran in the Imperial Legions, he does not wish for any more Nords to die in the wars of expansion and conquest of the Empire. He wants to care for the orphans and widows left behind by those imperialist wars. Ulfric wants to put popularly supported Jarls back in the Marches who will select a High King the people by default, favor, not a king chosen FOR them by the Thalmor. This and more are why the Stormcloaks must be supported
Evan Nesbitt I agree with some of your points be disagree with many. I think my biggest disagreement is with what you think of Ulfric, I strongly believe he wanted the power. This all started because he wanted to be the high king, and we know how that ended up. The high king (I cant remember his name) was the heir to the throne because he was the son of the previous high king, however, a moot was still put in process to make sure all the jarls agreed that he should be the high king, and they did, they all agreed, including Ulfric at the time. Ulfric knew that the only way for him to be in power is to challenge the high king on a duel, which he had to accept (being a nord that wants to get to sovrngarde), and Ulfric knew he wasn’t a warrior, he knew he wouldn’t stand a chance against the fearsome warrior that Ulfric is. So Ulfric goes into the duel, USES THE THU’UM (WHICH THE GRAYBEARDS ARE ABSOLUTELY AGAINST), and kills the high king, which in normal conditions yes that would be the end of that and Ulfric becomes the high king. So why did he run away? Because he knew what he did was not right, he knew that everyone would accuse him of murder instead of crowning him. Again, if he disagreed with simply him (the high king that I can’t remember the name of), he would have said so during the moot, but because HE wanted to be the high king and knew he wasn’t going to get elected. For me, what really crosses the line is the fact the the high king respected Ulfric, he admired him, he knew Ulfric was a war hero, and even the solitude court wizard said that if Ulfric simply told him start a revolt against the empire, he would have done it.
@@TheLoneStreamer Of all his mad moves that was Ulfric's maddest. But, if I remember rightly from in-game dialogue (& this is confirmed by the Fandom wiki article on Ulfric) he did it primarily to show how weak Skyrim had become under Imperial rule.
To be honest things aren't any different at the Blue Palace today. You can still march in there with no introduction & shout at High King Torygg's widow, Elisif. Imperial security is weak!
@@tupacshinji605 You can do the same with Ulfric, or anyone else!
@Evan Nesbitt - The moot chooses the high king !! If you haven’t worked that out the you haven’t really been paying attention have you ?🤦♂️Elisif is the candidate put forward by the empire whereas Ulfric is the Stormcloak candidate. If the Imperials win there’s pro-Imperial Jarls and of the Stormcloaks win vice versa .
Ulfric killed the high king to send a message to the other Jarls he even says so on the game when you first meet him in Windhelm!
I agree with u soooooo much good to see some friendly stormcloak bois
Talos is not a "one true god". He's part of the nine.
if Imperial can explude him, why can't Stormcloaks do the same but with the other 8?
@@yep1486 Because the Stormcloaks refer to the nine
By words of Galmar Stone-Fist "I will not live as a slave, nor will I die as one!", that's all I need to say on my reasons why I joined Stormcloaks agains that corrupted Empire
You've got good content and present it in a mostly professional way, but, as an Imperial Loyalist, I have a few points to share:
1) Skyrim was of course affected by the Concordat because Skyrim was/is a territory of the Empire.
2) The Empire didn't actually enforce the Concordat _until_ Ulfric started making a fuss over it. Alvor, the blacksmith in Riverwood, has this to say: "[Skyrim] didn't pay much attention to [the Concordat] when I was a boy - everyone still had their little shrine to Talos. But then Ulfric and his 'Sons of Skyrim' started agitating about it, and sure enough the Emperor had to crack down."
3) Regarding the player's intended execution at Helgen, that wasn't the Empire, it was _one_ captain who wanted to look good in front of her general. As for the Markarth Incident, which is a better move; keep a promise that will potentially start another Great War, or back out of said promise to not start another Great War? It's a tough call, but I think not starting another Great War is a better call.
Side Note: During the Markarth Incident, Ulfric and Jarl Hrolfdir committed legitimate war crimes, genocide, and other atrocities that turned the surviving Reachmen into the Forsworn.
4) Both sides (the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion) are secretly rebuilding their strength for the next Great War. That's the thing the Stormcloaks fail to realize; the Concordat is _temporary,_ and by having a tantrum, the Empire is weakened and will be less able to fight the Dominion.
5) Ulfric murdered the previous High King. Torygg respected Ulfric and knew that he was advocating for Skyrim's independence from the Empire. When Ulfric showed up at the Blue Palace in Solitude, everyone expected it was to propose Skyrim's independence to Torygg and people who knew the High King suspected he would even agree with Ulfric. But instead of propositioning, Ulfric challenged Torygg. Torygg knew Ulfric would kill him; Ulfric was trained by the Greybeards, a warrior (who had committed war crimes and genocide), and due to the nature of the challenge, if Torygg refused, he'd be forsaking his honor, his throne, and Sovngarde. Think about that: your choices are death or shame of the highest degree.
6) I highly doubt that an independent Skyrim can destroy the Aldmeri Dominion. The united Empire couldn't do it, Hammerfell can only defend themselves from the Thalmor, and if Skyrim cut ties with the Empire, the Dominion would raze the kingdom. You see, the Thalmor's goal is to effectively kill Talos by eradicating his religion. In the Elder Scrolls universe, a god's power comes from how much they're worshipped. If no one worships them, they're forgotten and effectively die. And which kingdom holds Talos in the highest regard? Skyrim. If Skyrim forsakes the protection being a part of the Empire offers, the Dominion will throw everything they have at the nords, and I doubt Skyrim would survive.
7) This one is a bit fourth-wall breaking, but the player is absolutely set up to support the Stormcloaks. The first NPC you talk to is a Stormcloak, right away you're going to be executed by order of an imperial captain, and when you first enter Castle Dour, you hear a bunch of boring military talk, as opposed to when you first enter the Palace of Kings, you hear Ulfric give this grand speech about fighting for what you believe in.
8) Not to put too fine a point on it, but Alessia has nothing to do with this. She founded the _First_ Empire, and the one that's fighting the Thalmor is the _Third_ Empire.
I am a pro imperial but a must contest one thing:
Talos is not a Aedra, Talos is three entities in one: Tiber Septim, born in high rock (fuck that atmora bullshits, Tiber is 90% Breton) Zurin (a powerful mage) and Wulfhart (a Shezzarine, Tiber best friend)
Talos is all these three people, Tiber by creating Talos (which is basically a prison for his friends and a powerful tool for him) achieved chim (being aware of what this whole world is, allowing him to do the fuck he want) we can say he transcended reality and can't be injured in any method by the world he transcended, he can't die like the Aedra can, he is even superior then Daedra or Anu and Padomay themselves (the two primitive forces that originated everything)
That's very deep lore, kind of hard to explain (in particular cause English is not my native language) but I hope to have been as clear as possible
@@babibo9028 Talos's god status is different from the aedra and daedra, yes, but that also makes him different from Anu/Anui-El and Padomay/Sithis, so I don't think it's entirely accurate to say he's more powerful than they are. I always imaged it works in such a way that et'Ada gods, like the aedra and daedra, and Chim gods, like Talos and Vivec, exist as two different kinds of gods, so comparing them is meaningless. It's like comparing meters to kilograms; they're two measurements but of entirely different things.
@@Galimeer5 the point is that Talos transcended our reality, Aedra, Daedra, Sithis, Anu and Padomay, that's nonsense for Talos, he doesn't even care, I mean, would you care about a dream?

The empire
Why should you join Empire
1. United Empire is better than every province fighting alone (better coordination)
2. Empire only signed White-Gold Concordat to regain strengh (humans breed faster)
3. After battle of Red Ring Emperor was not sure how many other armies elves had (remember all blades were killed)
4. Rebelion only benifits Thalmor, because empire is wasting soldiers on fighting it instead of moving them to border with Aldmeri Dominion
I join Ulfric Stormcloak as the vengeance of Talos against a false empire of blasphemous thalmor puppets that rejects the very one who built the empire in the first place. Also, the thalmor and empire reject Talos as divine, although during the Oblivion crisis it was proven otherwise when Martin used the blood of Tiber Septim (Talos) as the blood of a divine needed to open the portal to Mancar Cameron's paradise. So I bring vengeance on all those who rejected Talos, as his Champion!

Actually at the beginning of the game, it's never stated whether or not you actually committed a crime. So if it's deemed worthy of sending you to the chopping block, then it's up to what you're roleplaying your character as that determines whether you deserve it.
skyrim and stormcloaks have their problems, but as a Finn, I'm almost forced to take their side, taking into account the history of my own country (Finland was part of the Russian Empire... then they tried to Russianize Finland... etc) Being under the Empire is nice for so long, until that same Empire starts to think that everyone should be the same in that area... In the name of Skyrim I fight. let Ulfric's blue bear banner fly. and even though I've only played with the Nords once. Skyrim is my home! whether I played Argonians or Dunmer, I'm a child of Skyrim.
Same, it just feels wrong to side with the empire.
Good luck helping the thalmor weaken the empire and eventually doom humanity.
See how long that “child of Skyrim” bull last when the boots of the aldmeri dominion march on your soil staffs in hand thirsty for nordic blood, cause there is no way the stormcloaks would defeat Alone, they lack the intelligence and power.

The reason that you aren't given a fair trial at the beginning of the game is first of that legate's choice. She chose that you had to be executed. You can see Tullius talking to Elenwen and she wants Ulfric to be taken to the Imperial city so that one of her spies can free Ulfric on the way to Cyrodiil and then the war will be right where it started. Also, rhe Thalmor supply the Stormcloaks with weapons.

People often ask me why I choose them. The logic behind my reasoning is very simple:
1: The Stormcloaks have cooler armor.
2: The Imperials tried to execute me.
3: Citizens of Skyrim are not allowed to worship Talos.
I don't understand why anyone would consider it a good role-playing decision to join the Empire. In scene 1, they tried to cut my fucking head off for no goddamn reason. Well, that decided it for me, then.
The reason you ended up in binds to begin with was because of the stormcloaks? You was just at the wrong place at the wrong time, that’s war.
if it was the stormcloaks instead of the empire you think they would show you mercy especially if you were anyone but a nord?
@@LoopyLemon775 Oh sure, it's totally believable this would happen. All I'm saying is that, as a role-playing decision, it seems this would be the most believable choice. "Those bastards just tried to cut off my head. Fuck those guys."
I just realised the Empire has a serious problem with accidentally imprisoning and/or killing the people who end up having to be the ones to whoop the bad guys ass (Dagon and Alduin, the freaking WORLD EATER). They did it in Oblivion and Skyrim 😐
The Empire has a connection to prophecy that end up saving the world, ever taken that into consideration?
Plot my friend. Plot.
The fact that there’s such a intricate debate over which side is better is truly a testament to how brilliantly written this game and is. As is often the case in real wars, there truly is no winning. If you side with the Empire, you’re bending your knee to the Thalmor and letting elves rule over the home of the Nords, and letting the corrupt Maven Black Briar become Jarl of Riften. If you side with the Stormcloaks, you betray Jarl Balgruuf, someone who you’ve seen is a good and honorable man, and run his city Whiterun, a warm and welcoming community into the ground. When I first did a Stormcloak play through, I truly felt miserable during the Battle for Whiterun.
Have to disagree. Both sides of the civil war are shit. You either get to be a Thalmor puppet killing natives because they dare believe a human could be a divine, or you get to join highly xenophobic nationalist group who only wants to free Skyrim instead of freeing the entire Empire. Either side should have had the ability to rise in the ranks and take over as the leader of the faction, challenge the leader of the opposing faction, and by winning unite the two factions, then face off against the actual threat and cause of the civil war: The Thalmor. Why that's not an option I'll never understand.
That and the fact the stormcloaks are contributing to the thalmor by weakening the empire.
I don't think the arguments here are strong enough against the Empire, except the argument that Skyrim should not be forced the deals of the white conduct as they are a different people.
My arguments are that the Emperor did wrong in surrendering to the Domminion as the Empire were just starting to win and the Domminion suffered heavy loses.
The Emperor could have chosen to prusue the elves or negotiate a white peace. However, he chose to give into all the original demands of the elves, except the payment.
The elves are weak as they take longer time to procreate. We can see the Empire wrecked them because when Hammerfell rebelled the Domminion could not stop them and were forced to leave.
25 years have passed and that's enough time for the race of men to procreate and recover.
Also despite what the Imperials say, it's the Empire who needs Skyrim, not the other way around. Skyrim was never attacked or invaded. None of their towns or cities were destroyed. The Imperial places were and they are the ones who truly suffer.
Skyrim can either launch a defensive war or ally with Hammerfell to take down the Domminion. They don't need the Empire at all to fight the elves.
indeed it has away bean that the nord are the empire they founded it with steel and blood and the imperial ruin it away's the nord have nothing to fear from the dominion in fact the dominion should fear skyrim just look at the last time elves tried fight the nord most of morrowind and high rock was taken to form the first empre
@Commander M117-🤦♂️
Uh no. In a full scale war with the Dominion or the Empire, the Stormcloaks would lose. They are a smaller force made up entirely of Nords. Meanwhile the Empire recruits all races and receive better training and equipment. And the Dominion are masters of magic (Nords are very weak and ignorant of magic). Not to mention all the non-Nords in Skyrim would revolt against racist ass Ulfric.
ZoomerX24 Ulfric isn’t racist & Skyrim after breaking away will simply train troops into proper fighters dumbass
@Galaxy -Ulfric IS a racist and go to Windhelm and speak to any Argonians and Dunmer you meet .
An independent Skyrim training its troops is pointless when the Dominion has the larger numbers and after the civil war Skyrim will be heavily damaged anyway
Remember in the Oblivion Crisis when the Argonians invaded Oblivion? Yeah. Motherfuckin’ chads.
They had a good reason
Thalos smiles at the mounted Thalmor heads over my fireplace, oh and one of them is my new feet stool

Stormcloaks are based
Last I read the Markath Incident involved the Jarl of Markarth promising Talos worship to be allowed within the city if Ulfric freed the city for him. The Empire only came into the picture when the Thalmor found out and forced them to crack down on Ulfric.
Role-Playing Ginger actually the empire promised the birds tales worship
I'm afraid not, it was Jarl Hrolfdir, Igmund's father, who promised worship of Talos, not the Empire.
Jarl of Markarth: "Ok you can worship Talos, but be quiet about it like everyone else"
Ulfric and his thugs: "WHY DO I HAVE TO BE QUIET I LOVE TALOS! TALOS MY MAN, WOOOOOOH!"
Thalmor: "Well well well"
Greg M. Pastur
>After stormcloaks invaded Markath
Galmar: "Not so fast elf!"
Ondolemar: "I assume you are talking to me?"
Galmar: "On your knees."
Ondolemar: >Does nothing
Galmar: "I SAID ON YOUR KNEES!"
Ondolemar: "Enjoy this while you can, Soon you will all be slaves"
Galmar: RAGH >kills ondolemar and then said: "Someone get this thing out of here and burn it"
This Is an Overrated Image Oh good point. I am convinced
Ondolemar is right btw. With the stormcloaks weakening the empire like this Id be surprised if Tamriel didnt return to the good ol days, when there was no empire and humans were all slaves
I can see all of these reason as reason anyone would join the Stromcloaks not just the Nords. I can even see some High Elves who are brave enough to stand up to the Thalmor.
And also, Skyrim is in a very strategic position when it comes to defence. The border of Skyrim and Cyrrodill is very mountainous, so any invasion by the Imperials/Thalmor via the border would be ambushed and defeated swiftly (the same can be said if the Imperials invade via High Rock, which alone is unlikely), and on Skyrim's right side is an already independent province (Morrowind), so the safest way the Imperials or Thalmor could invade is via Skyrim's northern shore, which would take ages to ship troops there and longer still for reinforcements.
Skyrim has been conquered easily before by land invasion. So I'm pretty sure the Empire and the Dominion could do it quite easily.

If you read the dossier on Ulfric, you learn he's a tool of the Thalamor. They wanted him to escape and become a rebel leader, to 'rise up' against the Imperials to weaken them. This makes it easier for the Thalamor to defeat them eventually. I wish they added a choice where could unite the stormcloaks and Imperials to kick the Thalamor's asses.

Oh, damn. I didn't even think of that. I always thought those soldiers at the beginning of the game acted alone, that the order to execute you never came from above.
I wouldn't put it past the Thalmor to create a new faction that would fight against the Empire, letting them fight amongst each other and then swooping in to finish them off. Genius.
Didn't the dossier also say they didn't want either side of the conflict to win
@@kalaegambol7195 A long civil war would weaken the Empire and that's what the Thalmor want. The dossier reads "Direct contact remains a possibility (under extreme circumstances), but in general the asset should be considered dormant. StraightUpIrish I see what you are saying brother but ulfric is a brainwashed puppet being used by the elves to take over Skyrim the empire is the only reason the elves are not in Skyrim I'm not saying the empire is perfect but they are doing there best and I don't think the stormclokes could win because most of them hate anyone who is not a Nord while the empire has all sorts of people in it including Nord they are more diverse and that alone working together I think could over come the clokes. on another note I don't take sides on the civil war due to the fact my favorite character is the khajiit but I do have 1 of each character that I can play and have made it pretty far on each of them keep up the good work brother I can't wait to see more videos
You forgot to mention *why* the Thalmor wants to ban Talos worship. Gods are real in the Elder scrolls series, and holds real power. Without worshippers, their power is weakened. The endgoal of the Aldmeri dominion is to erase humankind from existence using the time magic from the Elder Scrolls, and to do this they must weaken Talos first, because he is the protector of humankind. And the Aldmeri dominion wishes to destroy humankind to destroy Talos. Because the idea of a human ascending to godhood is an affront to the high elves who sees themselves as descendants of the gods.
Why does everyone ignore the fact that the Empire won the war at the very beginning of the story? The only thing that saved Ulfric from beheading was Alduin appearing.
I am conflicted, I join different sides on different playthroughs, because sometimes, I think the septim empire still has hope, other times I think people should be actively resisting the thalmor, but one thing I like about ulfric is how his speechs seem to give hope, like how he explains his reasoning for why he ifghts, and after taking over solitude he says, "the thalmor may have defeated the empire, but they have not defeated Skyrim"
I remember the glory of the Septim dynasty one that I the last Dragonborn am the rightful heir to.
This is exactly what happened in Hammerfell btw
When the empire gave up and singled the treaty they had to get rid of Hammerfell as a province
In response the people of Hammerfell fought for five more years against the elves ultimately winning and kicking them out of there land after the dust had settled.
The empire is now too weak to defeat the elves on their own but the Efforts of Hammerfell Skyrim and Cyrodil now the elves would really be in trouble.having to spread there forces to deal with there many enemies!
Exactly. Skyrim needs to follow in Hammerfell''s footsteps. The Thalmor do not fear a hobbled Empire, they fear a unified Skyrim, willing to fight for its independence.

Ulfric challenged Torygg to a duel and he honourably accepted, and lost. According to tradition, Ulfric is now High King, whether you like it or not, so the Stormcloaks are just trying to put the ACTUAL high king on the throne.
the imperials just feel so authoritarian, you know?
@μπαρμπα Χάμος i mean they basically outlawing a religion rooted on the land they are currently residing.
That sets a dangerous precedent and is authoritarian as it gets.
I used to always go against the storm cloaks because I thought that Ulfric was a puppet to the Thalmor and that, in helping the storm cloaks win over Skyrim, it would weaken the empire and risk Thalmor invasion. And then obviously a weakend Skyrim would then be at risk in the coming years.
However, Hammerfell, and im sure many other provinces probably have many reason to hate the Thalmor and would gladly join a recently liberated Skyrim in finally destroying the elf nazis. Im not so sure an alliance like that would be possible with the Empire holding Skyrim
I wish there was a third choice to kill both leaders, unite empire and stormcloaks, destroy the thalmor, and become the rightful high king or better yet return the dragonborn bloodline to the emperor's throne.
Skyrim 2 please
I make an imp and do legion stuff, then I make a Nord and side with ulfric. I’m a lore nut and I must say. With the return of the Dragonborn it makes more sense to side with the stormcloaks. Especially when the empire has fallen (again) and the setting is Skyrim.
I joined the stormcloaks because the empire can only be ruled by a true dragonborn but the empire is in the pockets of the Thalmor and the dragonborn doesn't deal in petty bureaucracy.

Simple decisions for simple minds, I guess. If all people see is "empires are evul and they tryed to kill me" no wonder they will join the stormcloaks
From game is clear that empire is pathetic and only hope for men is human alliance of Skyrim, High rock and Hammerfell.
Corrupted empires and their corrupted leaders always fall.
Im pretty sure that applies to corrupt rebellions with corrupt rebel leaders as well, but Ill humor you with a reply
Empire is pathetic but is nevertheless holding off the stormcloaks with a SINGLE legion, and actually captured Ulfric (after he shamelessly surrendered) at the start of the game. Talk about pathetic
The only hope for men is an alliance of the human races, then. Almost like thats exactly what the Empire is. Or was, originally, before said alliance with Cyrodiil at the helm conquered and annexed the elven and beast provinces. Without the Imperials, famed diplomats and leaders, that just wont happen. Bretons are loyal so far and I want to believe neither them or the redguards will be stupid enough to deal with lowlifes such as you people
If the Empire falls, its because the elves are playing with you all. And they will win. And humanity will suffer. So thanks for that
Greg M. Pastur Did the imperials ever thought about the innocent talos worshippers the thalmors slaughtered? Hell no. And if its because "They didn't have a choice" Then that explains why they are weak.
Everyone who argues that the player character will kick the Thalmor’s ass in the end clearly do not understand that the Dragonborn will take no part in the second Great War, and will be written off from the story just as the Nerevarine & Champion of Cyrodill were.
You also find that the deal with the Battle-Borns and their torment of the Gray-Manes is also in dishonesty as they did have a hand in the abduction of Thorald, and other Imperial members or supporters are dishonest if not also having done some nasty things.
Ulfric Stormcloak is the true high king!
You’re mistaking true for FALSE!
At first I didn’t want to join the Stormcloaks because of the whole “Skyrim for the nords” bit amongst various sources claiming that Nords are racist but then I realized what “Skyrim for the nords” really meant. Basically it means that Skyrim should be ruled by Nords and Nords should be capable of making their own rules etc. they AREN’T racist, they are just a people who wish to govern themselves in their ancestral lands. There are many scenes in game that portray Nords as seemingly racist or prejudice as for example when you enter Windhelm and the Dunmer lady is being harassed by a veteran nord and a citizen nord, both project anger towards her kind, I’ll tell you why they do this. First off the Dunmer come from both Vardenfell and mainland morrowind, a land torn apart by the eruption of red mountain and the attacks by Argonians after the oblivion crisis and the betrayal of their trinity, the Dunmer are a destroyed people, they come from these horrible circumstances into Skyrim to settle and make a new life but also by living in Skyrim they take up resources, housing among other amenities and needs yet they refuse to help out the land which houses them, cloths them and has given them a second chance, This is why the Nords are disgruntled with the Dunmer, in turn and to be fair the Dunmer really just want to settle and stay out of any wars after what they’ve been through, there is pressure put on them. Basically the Dunmer just want to settle and stay out of the war but the Nords want them to fight if they are living in Skyrim now which makes them technically citizens of skyrim, it’s not a racial thing, it two different people unable to understand each other in times of great strife, each looking out for their own interests, each trying to survive and because of this anger and tension is sure to arise. I gave this detailed example of the Windhelm event because it’s the most notable when we talk about Nordic “Racism” (which doesn’t exist among the vast majority of nord, that I say because there’s always some prejudice in all peoples of Tamriel and in the real world), so if fear of Nords being racist is what holds you back from joining the Stormcloak then hopefully this helps clarify some things up. There are many more examples one can bring up when confronting the idea of Nordic racism, such events like ulfric not helping out Dunmer needs, one simple answer may be he too holds a grudge towards the dunmer because he also believes they should pitch in and because they don’t he does little for them in return, so to put it simply, if you don’t help us we won’t help you, Type deal. Also I feel Bethesda made Nords seem Racist for real world reasons possibly a mirror to our current way of thinking both politically and socially, it’s honestly “with the times” this thing Bethesda did and is quite deep and not confronted in society today. Anyways hopefully this helped someone out there looking to make the hard choice of weather to join the Stormcloaks or the Empire.
😘🤘🏻
Why Stormcloaks are the Best Option
- The Beginning, You begin to get executed right on the spot when not on the list
- Roggvir’s Execution, the witness who saw Ulfric challenging the High King in Fair Combat, executed for opening the gate. No jail, straight execution
- Quest Missing in Action , Arrested Gray Mane expected of Worship of Talos or 1 of stormcloaks. Was False accusations
- Random Encounters of Thalmor/Legion Troops with Stormcloak prisoners or Talos Worshipper
- A majority of Skyrims people either worship Talos or were people who fought the war against the Thalmor.
- The Markarth Incident
- Stormcloak Victory no more headsman.
- Difference between Imperials and Stormcloaks. LEGION :You got mostly men fighting
Stormcloaks: Men and Women fighting together
Now I know Some may argue that this is false but you mainly see 3 Female Legionnaire Soldiers
1 in the Beginning, Legate Rikke and 1 in East Empire Trading company in Windhelm
Everything I listed here are reasons why the Stormcloaks are the best ones for Skyrim.
+ Would you rather have 6 Strongholds occupied by People wielding two handed weapons (Stormcloaks).
Or
4 Strongholds with imperials.
Because if you look at how many Forts there are in the Civil War, you may find that bandits occupy it.
5 against 4.
Capturing Whiterun would garrison 2 Forts : Fort Greymore and 1 other close to Ivarstead
Fort Neugard
Fort Sungard
Then Morthal and Solitude.
Dragon Break: the Dragonborn joins both the Stormcloaks and the Imperials
I was born on a riften street where the dragon drums did beat,
And those loving imperials feet they tramped all over us,
And each and every night when me father came home tight
He'd invite the neighbors outside with this chorus:
Come out ye legion fans come out and fight me like a man,
Show your wife how you won medals down in cyrodil
Tell them how the stormcloaks made you run like hell away
From the bronze and stoney lanes of markarth.
Omg😂😂 a skyrim version of come out ye black and tans. 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮 nice one bro i respect that a lot. I just had to screenshot that😂😂
Death to the IRA!!🇬🇧
Just imagine the arabs conquer england during the reign of Henry VIII and force him to outlaw Catholicism. How would the Irish have taken that news?
Once a Nord
Always joins stormcloakes
I am a stormcloaks and i approve this video
Charles F
is that you, john candy?
hella Republican no you are thinking of Chris farley lol
hella Republican loll you mean Chris farley
Ulfric Stormcloak: I am Ulfric Stormcloak and I approve this message.
I will slay the Imperials with their own weapons while wearing their armor, because the Stormcloaks have ugly armor.
Years late to the party, while Bethesda intentionally gave players reasons to oppose both parties, Stormcloaks are definitely the good guys as far as their conflict with Imperials is concerned. Not only are Thalmor the literal Aldmer equivalent of Nazi's (and the game makes sure to tell us they practice it, with all the torture locations they setup around Skyrim), but there are many other situations where this becomes apparent.
Something people will commonly claim is "the Stormcloaks are racist". At no point in the game does such a thing become apparent. There is one Nord in Wildhelm who says he should take action against the Dunmer, because he in person is biased against Elves. Other than that you may find Nords who have dialogue lines where they speak unfavourably of Elves/Thalmor, but usually there is no context given or it's simply related to the war.
Now, then some people might name the Gray Quarter as consider it a social divide, but well before the events of Skyrim Dunmer migrated from Morrowind to settle primarily in the Snow Quarter, later renamed the Gray Quarter. It became impoverished and does seem to house a higher rate of crime. Still, that seems to have been a consequence of an age-old divide between the quarters, as in all the major cities (including the holds controlled by Stormcloaks by default), there are plenty of non-Nord or non-Human residents, with plenty of them in decent positions. Even some Dunmer from the Gray Quarter walking around will comment to the player that "...them complaining about the situation isn't helping anyone...".
In fact, at the start of the game the Imperials are happy to execute you regardless of you being unassociated with the Stormcloaks (Imperial warcrime: executing innocent civilians), you can join the Stormcloaks with any character race. Seems like a contradiction if you call them racist/biased. It's not like non-Nords or non-Humans are suddenly barred from society, in fact there's plenty of Adlmeri citizens to be found everywhere. In contrast, bands of warriors from Hammerfell are actually barred full entrance as can be seen in Whiterun... despite Hammerfell being an ally to Skyrim against the Thalmor (I'm not giving special thought to Whiterun's default neutrality here).
Which brings me to another fun fact. A lot of people claim "Nords this, Nords that" to try and prove their point that Nords following Ulfric Stormcloak are the problem, but... it's not just Nords. Hammerfell also pulled out of the Empire and is also fighting the Thalmor (successfully). As is made painfuly obvious to players constantly through dialogue and lore found in books/notes: the Empire submitted to the Aldmeri Dominion and has lost the ability to defend itself. A lot of people will say "The Empire is stronger with Skyrim, as allies" but there is no independent Empire anymore to speak of. There are no Imperial plans to counter the Aldmeri Dominion. It's like dealing with Vichy-France, under the control of Nazi-Germany, while being an allied power in WW2. In fact, that makes the Imperials the more racist/biased side for selling out all the territory and traditions of other races/regions...
Further diving into the lore preceding the game, the Empire had already ceded Valenwood and Elsweyr before the war even started. Then as they fought the war, which saw the Imperial city looted and attrocities committed by the Thalmor, the Imperials managed to counter the Thalmor and took out a lage port of their army in Cyrodiil... after which Titus Mede II suddenly accepted concessions in the White-Gold Concordat -- which were virtually identical to the demands the Thalmor made at the start of the war, which the Imperials rejected -- and gave away southern parts of Hammerfell and outlawed Thalos and gave the Thalmor free reign to enforce any of this in the Imperial provinces.
Are you really a good guy when you fight the big enemy together with your vassals, successfully, then decide to pull out but have all the concessions impact your vassals... and then join the enemy to enforce it? It's clear as day that the Aldmeri Dominion are the clear evil side, which the Empire inexplicably decided to join forces with despite up to that very point having firmly rejected the exact demands they suddenly agreed to. Obviously local figures would never agree to giving up all their land and tranditions when they were winning, together with the Empire, against the Thalmor and there is no way the Empire wouldn't know this. Meaning, this war for the Northern provinces is the stupidest concoction that the Imperials came up with in all the lore of Elder Scrolls combined... it's their fault.
As for the final common argument that Ulfric is supposedly a Thalmor spy, I disagree completely. The way those texts are written seem to imply that the Thalmor are using him, not that he is willingly doing their bidding. What those letters mean is that the Thalmor are aware that they can try to use Ulfric's actions to further break the Empire apart to somehow gain the upper hand again, but it's important to not forget that this is only possible because the Imperials have sided with the Thalmor/Aldmeri Dominion in the first place. Obviously, from their perspective, if the Empire would suddenly start infighting I'd stoke the fires as much as possible and then strike in the future when they have sufficiently weakened one another. The Empire is to blame for that, because they decided to side with the Thalmor and allow this to happen. At any time can they stop and focus on the real threat: the Aldmeri Dominion, but they flat out refuse. So it seems they are truly taking the stance of Vichy-France where they are just along for the ride with the enemy and don't really do anything themselves anymore, which means it's up to other factions in Tamriel to complete the job. Besides, even if you do read the notes beyond what they imply, you have to understand that normally if you uncover a plot in Skyrim then the other party also has some kind of note or journal on them that confirms it. This is not the case with Ulfric. This means that if the Thalmor notes are to be read as if they consider Ulfric a Thalmor agent, then that could just as easily be a lie they can use to coerce people to fight against him (we don't know where those letters are going, do we).
In addition, if we are to discuss responsibility, one has to look no further than the Markarth Incident where then-Jarl Hrolfdir requested Ulfric to help get rid of the Forsworn with the promise of allowing Talos worship, only to fall back on the agreement and then also side with the Thalmor (and thus Imperials) and arrest Ulfric. In addition, Hrolfdir was foolish enough to thus not completely deal with the Forsworn and instead ordered some to be imprisoned (which, yes, may also be contributed to Thonar Silver-Blood in the case of Madanach, but keep in mind that Hrolfdir was still the Jarl at the time). Literally no decision the pro-Imperial side has made since that moment they beat the Thalmor army before the White-Gold Concordat was signed has been beneficial for anyone in the Imperial province. "Yeah, but if you just go along with us we will be stronger in the future!" Nope, buddy, not with your backstabbing nature, we won't.
That said, in the end, there is one final thing to say. Something almost nobody ever even considers and would make for the most interesting choice for Bethesda if they have to consider a canon conclusion to the war: the Dragonborn does not have to side with either party.
As some Daedric Princes will tell the Dragonborn along his or her journey when they ask for power, what more power could you possibly want as a mortal? You are a Dragonborn, you are already going around killing dragons on a daily basis and your voice alone has more power behind it than many prominent mortal figures you will meet along the way. You have more power in your baby toes than your enemies have in their combined armies. No wonder several Daedric Princes literally call you about half as strong as they are. It really wouldn't be so weird for the Dragonborn to just completely ignore the Nords and Imperials and just take out every Thalmor that sets a foot into Skyrim, then looking over his shoulder and flat out asking why both the Imperials and Stormcloaks are still fighting. In fact, a power (with or without the Dragonborn) appearing to take the fight to the Thalmor to help ease tensions between Imperials and other factions like the Stormcloaks and Hammerfell resistance groups seems like a very plausible lore concept. This would also create a nice possible sequel concept where maybe the player explores regions that are successfully rising up against the Thalmor, so you would have a game where you would either be bringing the fight to them or perhaps it can be set in an aftermath where that has already happened.
Either way, the Stormcloaks and Hammerfell rebels are simply mad for being sold out. You can't blame them, as they were really sold out. The Imperials refuse to fight and sided with the big enemy. You cannot objectively call the Imperials the good guys or objectively call the rebels bad for fighting for their own land. That said, from the logical options the player has in Skyrim... nothing prevents the Dragonborn from just hunting the Thalmor directly.
Are Stormcloaks good? Yes, for defending their land. Are Imperials good or bad? They make bad decisions for everyone and side with the bad guys and are complicit in committing warcrimes, even if they will claim they act in the best interest for everyone, which doesn't absolve one of their crimes. Does the Dragonborn have to side with either of these for a most ideal outcome and does it make the Dragonborn a good guy for joining either side? Not really, no.
If you claim that the Stormcloaks aren't racist you haven't been paying attention. The Stormcloak Commanders proudly proclaim that they will kick out the elves, generic Stormcloak soldiers join on race-based fallacies in the form of being a ''true'' Nord, or having a problem with an ''Elf telling them how to live''. Ulfric himself believes Skyrim is meant to be full of Nords and has enacted race-based policies in Windhelm. Thongvor Silver-Blood is also eager to blame all of elvenkind for the banning of Talos worship.
Hammerfell is not fighting the Thalmor, and hasn't done so for over 20 years. It took them five more years of fighting - with a ton of Legion veterans supporting them - to merely halt the Aldmeri advance and sign their own peace treaty. Hammerfell's ''success'' is always painfully overstated by Stormcloak supporters. The Empire has been actively preparing itself for Great War 2.0. ever since the Concordat was signed. Hell, speaking to the Legates, Rikke, and Tullius make it abundantly clear. Tullius even outright states how the civil war in Skyrim is but an ''interlude'' before the main event against the Thalmor resumes, and that he has to fight with local recruits because the bulk of the Imperial army is on the border with the Dominion.
Titus Mede accepted the terms of the Concordat because had he not the entire Empire would've fallen. This is canon, not a discussion. The Thalmor also weren't able to enforce the terms of the Concordat until after Ulfric's collaboration with them at Markarth forced the Empire to openly break the terms of the treaty. Barring that, the Empire does not enforce the Talos ban, unsure where you got this idea from that they do,
Also I got to laugh at your idea that the dossier on Ulfric is ''fake news'' when it's literally a classified document hidden at the Thalmor Embassy. I also like how you bring up Markarth yet ignore Ulfric demanding free Talos worship as payment despite the Talos ban not even being enforced at the time. Sure is a weird coincidence that the Justiciars only came around after Ulfric started agitating about the ban... not. Hrolfdir was the Jarl, but he did not hold the power in the Reach. Hrolfdir had tried Madanach and sentenced him to death, Ulfric and his Silver-Blood cronies saved Madanach.
Personally I agree completely but to give a few more reasons for 1 ulfric is the true high king he beat torygg in a battle for the throne and as such in the ancient ways of mother Skyrim he has got the throne this fact is undesputable and 2 a common argument is that the empire is the only thing keeping the Dominion out of Skyrim, this is wrong if the stormcloaks won with the GOD DAMN DRAGONBORN that would definitely give independent Skyrim not only a fighting chance at winning the war but give them an edge over the dominion it would be difficult for them to counter a literal end cycle God (lore) 3 who's to say when ulfric becomes high king the dragonborn doesn't just challenge him for the title I'm a high elf btw and no the whole racist thing is not a factor in my decision the nords have good reason to be racist (though I am not racist nor support it) there whole history has been one elf war after another I wouldn't like a race(s) that constantly tried to kill and enslave me either
Ulfric murdered Torygg according to the Nordic duel customs.
The Dragonborn participating in the Civil War is not lore-friendly (yet), so he should be removed from any such things.
Hail Ulfric!
I'm on the fence with these two sides, i don't like the thalmor but i don't like the way the stormcloaks treat quite a few races, so i just don't know who to pick
Ikr, I think if you sided with the Empire, the Empire would be less prone to falling to the Thalmor, since the Thalmor want Ulfric to rise up and defeat the Empire so they can fight the Stormcloaks and win, leaving the Thalmor to rule Skyrim. At the same time, even if you side with the Stormcloaks, the Stormcloaks have the Dragonborn, who is more powerful than people think in the lore. Honestly in my opinion, I think every faction in the game is wrong, I'd choose the Empire since Jarl Balgruuf would keep his throne, lol.
@@alexanderdemir7659 The Thalmor don't want the Stormcloaks to win. They fear a unified Skyrim. They want the war to continue, that would weaken both the Empire and the Stormcloaks. You have to remember that the Empire is already under the Thalmor's heels, effectively advancing their agenda. It makes sense to support the Stormcloaks if you hate the Thalmor (even though the Thalmor used Ulfric to destabilize the Empire).
