@@lovebug9386 that was later on when he was forced to continue on cycle 9. This is cycle 6.
It doesn't seem like he had much to say about the show, so I don't really think he's responsible for all that but he's responsible for his own unnessesary or stupid comments to the girls.
But maybe he's just trying to make people think he wasn't problematic too, I have hard to think he had nothing to say about photoshoots or didn't know about lot of the drama or problematic things, like the graceyard photishoot he must have known her friend had died. So I'm sure he was okay with lot of the things as long as he gets his money.
I always thought it was just Tyra. I'm beginning to realize Jay was just as at fault watching these reactions.

My thing is HOW is it a critique if you're explaining why something doesn't look good that way? For example Jay telling Brooke to lower her chin because at that angle it looks big, i.e. unflattering. To me it just sounds someone who's far to sensitive. I for one would be like "wait why doesn't that look good, tell me why". So it's rude to tell someone the reason an angle is unflattering? I feel like it would be more helpful 🤷
But what I'm saying is to me it doesn't sounds like criticism to tell someone that at a certain angle something isn't attractive. He never said "your chin is huge" or told her she looked bad or ugly he simply said at that angle it gives the illusion it's large, just tilt your head and it looks better. To me it's helpful 🤷
@@corissakramer6644 ok, but that’s YOU. No one is talking about how YOU would react. Brooke had explicitly said multiple times that she had never really felt beautiful, bc people bullied her for her strong features, so the judges harping on those features and doing rude imitations was a constant reminder that her chin was large or her features were strong. It subtly breaks down confidence bc this could be someone’s insecurity. You can’t police other people’s sensitivity, it’s not your place and you have no right.
I’m worried that it gives them further insecurities and will make them want unnecessary surgeries
@@rainydays9967 which leads us to ignore this industry’s comments entirely and love ourselves for what we are. Besides, beauty WILL fade eventually. That’s the way of things. If you wanna succeed pretend you’re listening and completely ignore their comments. Don’t take them too hard. Been there, done that, I’ve encountered many people that are like him. I love myself the way I am and I never let their mean comments that were made for the sake of them to sound “professional” ,get to me. 💕
jay is such a jerk with the models, like, they're clearly trying to do a good job and then he comes and ruins their effort and their confidence. jay, why tho?
It makes for great TV, but it's horrible for the model's self esteem. Especially since they're young and crushing them like this is sad. I feel like he was better in the Canadian version though.
@@moomoocachoo9025 At some point Jay gets upset at the production for making him look much more mean than he is. I bet in Canada's version the production isn't stirring the pot up as much.. 🙄 (I've been watching AusNTM lately, and it's so different; people are nice to each other and no forcefully created drama. I love it.)

I was surprised to learn Furonda is a lawyer now. She's smart AND beautiful and her spirit on the show was legendary.
She is so amazing.
If you don't already know who Oliver Twixt is, go find his channel and watch his interviews with the past contestants. He interviews Furonda in one of them. I've always been a huge fan of hers, now so even more.

The image of those ponytails of hair coming out the back of their bald caps has haunted me for a decade.
Funny how Tyra comments on the models chin when she always advocates her larger forehead.
She's pointed out multiple times how she has to pose in a way that doesn't make her forehead looks as big, so I don't really understand what you're talking about.
@@gabrielavukota2 Well she had stated multiple times before that she loves her forehead and that it helped her at the start of her modelling career as it had made her more unique to be a high fashion model. That is why I don’t understand her here picking on other girls looks.

It's her way of saying that she has a pass to poke at people's bodies because she has flaws of her own.
It's almost like when a person who used to be obese, lost weight, and now thinks they make fun of obese people because "they've been there".

No not really this show would not be created because of social media nowadays you could become a top model from a cute pic on your profile the last seasons of the show were more so the contestants could get exposure.

Honestly, I blame this show for so much microaggressional racism, bc it conditioned a generation to believe that confident black women had an attitude problem, bc that was how EVERY SINGLE ONE was portrayed. But a confident white girl never had the same treatment.

I love how Jays currently trying to act like they were forced to do things and it was all producers and Tyra.... yet the way they talked to and about the models shows he was always a jerk. 😲
YES THANK YOU litterally everyone on that show was mean and degrading towards the models. I won't deny that the producers pushed them towards being mean but at the end of the day they still made the choice of going out of their way to make these models feel miserable. I haven"t watched any recent cycles but I hope it either got better or the show was cancelled lol
As much as Jade gets a bad rep from the show, her Covergirl commercial still lives rent-free in my head.

This being the first official photo shoot, I think they were using the "shaving them bald" as a loyalty test. You bet they looked at the girls that weren't happy and judged them harsher than the other, more "loyal" girls.
I think they were waiting for someone to refuse, but I agree that since nobody did, they probably put that negativity onto those who weren't happy about it.
Or they picked someone to chop the hair of during make-over. Just to be sure to create drama.
Or made notes as to who should get a Mia Farrow or a Karen hair cuts

I truly think that Tyra was protecting her legacy as one of the greatest Black Super Models of all time. No one can beat her if she beats them down. She rips so many of them apart. People were saying it was production but I don’t know, and she could have been doing it unconsciously. She sees these young girls capable of going all the way and she isn’t in the game of securing her title on the runway anymore, so she does it here.
What is sad is Jade being so relieved that they weren't going bald... knowing how bad they screw her over later. Easily one of the top 3 most beautiful models on ANTM. They robbed her from the makeover forward.
I think she had a really powerful bone structure and not even that hairstyle could ruin her beauty.
I liked her makeover but I understand why she was upset

It makes me so mad that They choose the “best” photo to display to be judged then tell them that it’s a bad picture. The model should be able to chose what picture they want to be judged.
Notice how the one that’s outspoken or “rude” are always put in the bottom two but doesnt get eliminated so they’ll feel like they OWE the judges and to show the judges are SO fair and kind 🙄 toxic behavior 101

I personally think Furonda had a stronger picture than some of those girls that went through. It was interesting; had angles; had all of her face in it 🤷🏽♀️ They didn’t have to do her like that.
I feel like they use the bottom 2 spot for drama. They pick who they want to eliminate and then pick someone that they want to scare into obedience and teach them a lesson

I've never seen the Germany version but the one in our country sucks so much oml. Holland"s next top model used to have an actual top model as a host but she stopped and now the host is an influencer that has never worked as a model it's a jokeee. At least she's nice to the contestants though. I remember years ago the winner of HNTM refused to sign the contract with the agency which was part of her prize because it was really unfair

I personally dislike the cropping on the photos, if anyone extended their arms then the final photo just has disembodied hands. They could have had some really cool mannequin-like poses if they didn't zoom in so much (though that's just my opinion, I'm not a professional) I know that the focus was the bald cap, but I think that could have still been conveyed while showing more of the arms

Everybody was hating on Jade but she is a gorgeous girl and took some awesome photos
she was iconic hands down. She was mean to the other contestants though which I didn"t like but I imagine high stress and pressure from producers played a big part in that
She photographed a little older and harsher than the other girls but she was soo funny, my favourite moment from her is when the agents are insulting them to see how they react and jade was the only one who took it amazingly well and was turning everything into a compliment
I love Jade. She was great.
I love this series because as someone who watched ANTM back in the day with zero knowledge or understanding, it's really eye-opening to see how sometimes (or even often) when the girls have a "bad" photo a lot of the blame does not lie with them at all and even how arbitrary some of the judges "critiques" are. I love getting the photographer and model perspective as well, and how positive you guys are about the girls!
I'm watching this now and it makes me so mad all over again that they cut off Jade's beautiful hair. Look at that afro and they destroyed it

I don’t think I, as a young white girl, understood what it was like for a black women to be forced to cut her hair. Black people put blood, sweat, and tears into the care and maintenance of their hair. Such diligent care, only to be carelessly cut off for the whims of some egotistical mean girl and her team. It’s appalling
Her hair was seriously GOALS!! They did it to try and bring down her confidence because how dare she believe in her abilities 🙄

As an special effects artist I hate that they didn’t fully glue down the bald caps, doing it the way they did can cause the cap to wrinkle and it ruins the effect. They also didn’t color match very well on some of the models and I could easily tell they had bald caps on.

I was bald for four years until recently and I was beautiful. I'm always beautiful just as I am. I owned it and never covered up or wore a wig. I'll have a lifetime's worth of confidence from that experience. Love yourself 💗💕💛

I think one of the things that frustrates me so much about these is that the girls are not actually told how to improve, just what they're doing wrong. If you're meant to be teaching girls how to be models then TEACH THEM instead of humiliating them. I'm a teacher myself, so maybe it just bothers me a bit more 😉

Confidence is good, but if you already think you're the best then you'll never see your flaws and improve. Though I've seen this whole season and am probably bias 😂

If they had him just be neutral and have the girls relaxed and confident during the shoot, then it’s “boring.” But yeah, I agree, haha.

hey jessica, I have a real question: what are the criteria for someone to say they're a professional photographer?
Someone who makes majority of their income from photography I think 🤔
If you have a camera and can click and edit pictures to an extent that people will like and have a portfolio to showcase this - you're a professional photographer
Google says a professional photographer is someone who earns 100% of their income from photography. Personally I think someone that went to school for photography is professional only because they actually studied the craft, learned the ins and outs etc. you can be an amazing photographer and never have gone to school and that’s fine as well.
@@kloiemartin-peterson5459 That definition doesn't make sense. Plenty of people go to school for something and never make it their profession. They're not more qualified than people who have done the job for a decade just because they studied it in their late teens and early 20s. Most artistic professions consider you a professional if you have made regular money doing it. Not necessarily 100% income because plenty of people have side or adjacent works. You're a profession photographer if you've been paid for photography work. A professional writer if you've sold articles or stories. A professional artist if you've sold your work etc.
@@Gna_d54 I just said what google said, and it’s just one definition and they based it on that you have to make 100% income from photography to enter into certain factory support organizations.
