2022 Tundra Chrome Delete | Grille Surround | How to Remove & Reinstall

- My 2022 Tundra is losing the chrome as I replace the door handles, window trim, grille surround, tailgate handle and bumper caps. This kit can be purchased complete or as individual pieces. Here are links to the install tutorials for each as well as product links:

Wow, it looks so good with the chrome gone!
I used 7 razor blades to hold the bottom clips apart for easy removal. Great video, thanks for the step by step and numbering how many bolts and screws for each spot!

First major modification to my 2022 Tundra, in Army Green. Your video was clear, helpful, and got it done safely. Really appreciate it. Only thing I'd point out is that my SR5 had two bolts attaching the fender liner at the bottom of the wheel well which yours looked to have cut out (for larger tires, I'm guessing). Those took me by surprise but were easily and quickly addressed. Just mentioning it for others who might be in the same boat with stock 265 tires. Regardless - THANK YOU for the great video.

Thanks for the information. I just finished changing out my 2024 Tundra mustache. Broke a clip on the chrome but that’s all right.
I was considering the grilled surround that taped on top of the existing chrome pieces, but this is the better long term option for sure...

Looks great! This is one of the first mods I am planning. How the paint is holding up on the Revemoto grill surround? It is probably too soon to tell how durable it is.

can you explain what those 2 brackets in the center of the grille assembly are attached to? Its the 4 bolts u remove from the front end of the truck, looks like the two arms sticking up from the grille..

No, he changed it for the few that are into deleting all chrome. Years ago we pd extra to get chrome. It was a sign of prestige. The plain Jane models where cheaper to buy. For an example the Chevy in 1961 had the blah Biscayne at bottom,the Belair more chrome and trim,and the Impala with all the chrome and Triple Tail lights.👍
Did you disconnect the battery first? If not, did you get any warnings when you started the truck?

I have been thinking on downsizing my truck to a Isuzu Cross track. I am looking to move to the west coast from Florida in 3 years and decided to take a minimalist approach when leaving Tampa for good. I wanted to know in detail if you can email me what steps you took to get everything together and make the decision to put your vehicle up for sale. I would like to go through this privately.
2023 toyota sells a sx model for the sr5 tundra that is blacked out exterior and interior
funny enough the cheapest models are color matched all the way around as are the Pro models. It should be part of the off road package to color match like they do on the tacoma. Inconsistency seems to be built into the Toyota DNA when it comes to design ideas.
Crazy that Toyota made the whole front clip, one giant piece, geez. It almost looks like you could remove the grill surround without removing the whole front...that truly not the case?

A wrap won’t last, I checked into it. The edges are too sharp of a angle
I don't know why toyota thought it was a good idea to put a chrome mustache on the front-end. Always thought the TRD pro front-end looked so much better without the chrome.

Toyota sure using thin plastics for the new trucks.
It's good.. minor impacts, no problem... flexs good. Damaged? Not so expensive to replace.
Should of replaced grill with Toyota lettering and painted bottom black blue….

This makes the biggest difference on how the new Tundra looks. Toyota has gotten into this terrible habit of paint engineering. Using atrocious black plastic all over vehicles - look at the BZ4X as that poster child. Some Crown models with the black hood. Just look at the rear of the Tundra to see what they are doing. Platinum has black chrome for the grille surround, a black trim at the top of the tailgate with painted bumper faceplate. Limited uses a chrome grille surround tailgate is one color with chrome bumper faceplate. 1794 has a chrome grill surround with one color for the tailgate and chrome for the bumper faceplate. SR5 has a body color grille surround, one color tailgate with a black bumper faceplate. Etc, etc. Maddening Toyota. Was just telling my wife that Toyota is purposefully making their vehicles ugly to prove to the world how loyal their customers are. I own a '21 Tundra Limited and a '21 4Runner Nightshade .... I've bought into the Toyota story and each time I get a new one I have to overcome my frustrations with all of these shortcomings (IMHO). Just once, give us vehicles that are sharp looking without having to take off new parts like is shown in this video .... and I shouldn't have to buy a $75K Capstone to get a good looking, feature rich vehicle.

Its unbelievable Toyota still puts all that gross chrome on their trucks even with seeing all the "deletion" that goes on on the inter webs.
