  • Tonight on TFBTV: A Saturday Night Special (feature) as we take a look at the brand new Smith & Wesson M&P Compact 2.0. This gun is an upgrade to the S&W M&P Compact 1.0 and it's gunning for the Glock 19's sport as the most revered 15+1 9mm compact pistol on the market. Fortunately, James has not only the M&P9c 2.0, but the M&P 9 Compact 1.0 and the Gen5 Glock 19 to compare against the 2.0. In this special episode, James evaluates these three guns - size, weight, trigger, ergonomics, mechanics, price, and more.
    Clearly, the 2.0 Compact is in direct competition with the Glock 19: The dimensions and capacity are identical, and of course both are striker-fired, polymer framed guns...but the M&P costs $100 less.
    So do you get what you pay for or is the M&P 9c 2.0 superior to what some people consider an obsolete or incomplete Gen 5 Glock 19? James tells you, and only on TFBTV.

    $100 less RRP and comes with good quality sights. S&W is showing Glock who wears the tight short shorts in the house with this one.

      When S&Ws M&P gets adopted by a lot of military units and gets away from that flimsy trigger,then you might have a argument worth debating.

      Dropping the 15-round mag in my gen1 compact was the first thing I tried, and as James pointed out, the sleeve isn't long enough to fill the whole gap. I thought about just getting mags also, but now that I've got the 2.0 compact, it was well worth it for the trigger and the grip, to me.

    I honestly hate they made it larger and more like the glock19. I liked how the original was inbetween the glock 19 and glock 26. I think it was just a great balance. More concealable that glock 19 higher capacity than glock 26. I hope they offer a smaller 2.0 about the size of the original

    • @midnightreport118
      @midnightreport118 6 лет назад +2

      Lyle Bonney The Shield is dimensionally identical to the original M&P Compact, except for the width, which meant that the Shield and original Compact were poaching sales from one another. I think S&W is (wisely) re-aligning their offerings to more clearly differentiate the Compact vs Shield, while coming straight at the Glock 19's mantle with teeth bared. Also, fwiw it doesn't look like S&W is discontinuing the first-generation models for the moment (don't quote me on that)

    • @cmonsterz
      @cmonsterz 6 лет назад +1

      Lyle...they just released the M2.0 in the sub compact...and the Shield 9 (the 45 Shield already was M2.0 configuration). The compact isn't larger than the 19; I have both. They really are the same size.

    You brushed over the beveling of the chamber opening on the slide to reduce "stove piping" and you missed mentioning the wider feed ramp on the barrel.
    Fun fact, you can put the 1.0 slide on a 2.0 frame, and put a 2.0 frame on a 1.0 frame.

    Been kinda patiently waiting and hoping that they'll release a subcompact version in similar dimensions to the 1.0. Already have plenty of guns that fit the compact's size and attributes, and have finally reached the point where the original compact's short but full grip and the longer-than-pea-sized barrel make sense to my carry needs.

  • @drmitofit2673

    Only issue on my 2.0 Compact is that the left side slide stop is not a slide release. This is due to a combination of the stiffer right side stop catch mechanism and flex in the left side release arm, so not an easy fix. Not a problem for right handers though.

    Yes! The only thing Glock has on S&W now at this point is magazine availability. The $450 price is hard to beat but unlike Glock, S&W is always offering rebates and I wouldn't be surprised to see these go as low as $399 at times. I am definitely a Glock fan but I'm an even bigger M&P fan, S&W just rocks.

      Dave Lpz, yes, yes it is. I read the Glock talk and other discussion groups. Glocks have plenty of dysfunctions when Glock people are hufdled together and don't think that other people are listening. They also start talking about the real aggregate cost of their perfect pistol.
      Add a new trigger, sights, slide release, grips, barrel, etc. and you are approaching $1000 for something you could buy off the shelf for 60% of the cost.
      Buying a Glock is usually a mistake, but is a common one.

    I'm looking to buy my first ever firearm and I think I've narrowed my search down to these 4 pistols(9mm):
    1. HK VP9 (Is there a compact?)
    2. S&W M&P9 2.0c (Great price!)
    3. Beretta APXc (It's growing on me)
    4. Sig Sauer P320c (won the military contract but had problems what???).....
    .....(Runner ups): Glock 19 Gen5 or SA XD9 Mod.2.
    But let's stick with my top 4. So it looks like I could fall in love with any of these wonderful firearms but which of these would you choose for your first ever handgun?

    Front slide serrations, 3 dot metal sights, aggressive grip texture, better styling, and possibly the best difference; it has a more traditional grip angle! The grip angle for the Glock is the largest No-Go for me, followed by the plastic, basket sights, and the higher price. Other than the price, it’s all subjective, but the S&W is far better in my mind!

  • @mitchelll899
    @mitchelll899 6 лет назад

    Looks like a better Glock. I prefer extra textured grips because if your actually in a andrenaline rush situation such as home/street defense your hands get sweaty to the point you can drop your expensive equipment. So s&w gets my vote especially since they have been making guns for one of the longest times.

    I think its fair to say that you will save $200. The plastic sights on the glock will shift or pop off eventually. Especially if you train one handed reloads.

    before I see the video I know the result would be glock wins. when tfb made up that specific test to bash sig for winning the army contract,I knew who is behind all this already. right after that video glock announced new gen. what a sales plan. good job

      Cause a cop totally didn't get shot by a dropped SIG P320 in his duty holster..
      Maybe you missed the memo that said the MHS contract handgun has a MANUAL SAFETY LEVER..
      Your troll level is good,or you are that ignorant.

    This is not S&W first G19 size pistol. This is the first one in the M&P line up. But they always had a G19 size pistol.

    The only thing I dont like about the gun is that the front seems to be mangled with gouges and holes in the frame and slide.

    Oi. The magazine baseplate is the over travel stop. On fast reloads, you will bash and bend the ejector. Use mag sleeves!!!

    Can't really call front serrations an added benefit, since no one ever uses them except range operators. The $100 savings is really the big story here.

    Do I need this "new" size if I already have a 4" SD9VE?

    • @traumajock
      @traumajock 6 лет назад

      that was my take on another channel. the glock 19 sized smith & wesson has been here all along. with the inexpensive modifications, its every bit as good as the Glock or the 2.0. In fact, the 2.0 looks alot like a sdve with a black slide.

    • @traumajock
      @traumajock 6 лет назад

      I'm convinced that S&W is using the SDVE line as a loss leader. Its working for them too.

    Another great feature rich factory pistol on the market for $500. Imagine what a feature rich factory Glock would cost...with a great trigger lol

  • @youngboyharless9769
    @youngboyharless9769 6 лет назад

    Glock should change their design more from the factory Imo if they want to stay on top. Better/redesigned stippling, cuts in the slide. Stock steel sights. And be a game changer and take it too 16+1 in the same size frame/magazine. Three out of the box. If they offered a Glock like that for 550 out the door I'd take it. But M&p is such a better bargain in reality.
