      Yeah, does anyone even shoot a stock glock... I want a gun I have to modify right out of the box to even shoot. . Plus 200 for sights . Plus more for trigger

    • @d-unit-outdoors
      @d-unit-outdoors 4 года назад

      Matt Langstraaat Where are you spending $200 for sights? I also swapped out my M&P sights right away too. Yes the stock M&P sights are better than the stock Glock sights, but I don’t care if they are metal if they don’t glow in the dark.

    You don't have to spend the money on an Apex trigger, I just disassembled the gun and polished the sear, sear safety, and some other things. Made the trigger lighter and much more crisp.

    I never liked the Shield until the 2.0 version, I now have a 2.0 M&Pc and 2.0 M&P 5” model. Plus, picked up the new Shield in 45 and though it is not technically a 2.0 but same features. The trigger is good, not to snappy, excellent gun IMO. Great review James, best out there!

    Just bought a Shield 2.0 Saturday (10/12/19). Shot it at my gun shop’s pistol safety course, was at the range (already took class). It was hitting out to 100 yards. It is upgraded with a Rival Arms threaded barrel, laser frame stippling (that balanced the frame), swapped sights and special trigger and job

    Just bought a S&W Shield 1.0 I love it, found no real need for the minor extras other then the price of 100.00 more. Will prob add the Apex anyway so like u said no real difference. Got the gun with the FDE frame, looks fantastic with the black slide. Your vids are great please keep them coming.

    I have a m&p full size PC, a compact 2.0, and just recently bought a 2.0 shield.. got a good deal on a lightly used one. Sights were accurate when I got it and are still accurate. It's a perfect size gun for EDC. And my shield has a very nice trigger. Its easy for me to see why Smith & Wesson have sold over a million shields.

    Got one today, meant to shoot 25 rounds wound up shooting 100. Just a joy to shoot. Got lucky my sights were dead on but there wasnt a drop of oil on mine from the factory. The slide release is super stiff at first but its getting better. Its my first striker fired gun, im an old guy love the hammer fired but i have to say, this one is changing my mind. I did get the one with a safety, i know the younger folks think ya dont need it but i like it anyway and if i decide not to use it i dont have to.

    I own the original .9mm and I must say it is wonderful. I've shot at least 5000 rounds through it with no malfunctions...zero!!
    I have changed the recoil spring and firing pin sping out of precaution not because of a problem.
    I also bought the .40 Cal just for the hell of it.

    I have the full size M&P9 M2.0 with the 4.25 barrel and flush 17 round magazines. But I’m definitely considering getting a Shield 2.0 if I get a conceal carry license. The full size might be difficult to conceal except for winter maybe.

    They all shoot to left out of the box. Mine did the same, and I've shot another that also shot identically. They can't seem to get the rear sight where it needs to be. I love mine though. It chews through any ammo I put in it and it doesn't mind being a little dirty. My favorite gun for an edc hands down.

    In regards to new Shield owners, Smith & wesson emphasizes its a slide lock not release like the Glock. So hate it or not it's designed that way, not an error in production etc. Hopefully this helps anyone wondering i was there ha.

    It's a good size for carry. I use it in my belly band. My only issue is it shoots a little off target I think because of recoil (snappy). I need a class on how to shoot this more accurately.

  • @propdoctor21564
    @propdoctor21564 6 лет назад

    Excellent review as always. I have a 9mm in the original version and a 45 caliber in the 2.0 version. I do like the updated grip texture especially on the 45 which has a little more recoil....As far as the trigger I don't think it's a whole lot better than the original which probably varies from gun to gun... The forward slide serrations do nothing for me other than they look kind of cool.... I will not get rid of my 9 mm to get another 9 mm in the 2.0 version... I got into the shields during the $75 rebate which put them at a final cost of not much over $200 which is an awesome price for this quality of firearm... It actually put the shield in the price range of Taurus pistols.

    M&Ps always have stiff slide releases when new. Mine now releases the slide when I slam in a new mag. Makes for quicker reloads.

  • @JihadAeon
    @JihadAeon 6 лет назад +1

    I've had my Shield 2.0 for over 2 months now & although my sights were BALLS ON accurate the slide release was BEYOND STIFF! It was almost a deal breaker.....
    The version I bought also had a Thumb Safety that is also SUPER STIFF so I do carry it "hot"
    & the magazine was my biggest headache. The Magazines have got to be SLAMMED into the Gun otherwise you may not seat it properly. You have to POWER that sucker in there "with a WILL!" as they say
    With about 200 rounds in the slide release is a bit better, I ignore the Thumb Safety & the Mags are even going into the gun much easier than before. (I practice Dry Fire A LOT so manipulation of the magazines must be around 4-500 repetitions)
    I'm used to breaking in Tennis Shoes & it looks like the Shield needs a bit of "weathering" to work for me.

    Great, honest, review! Having competition is good for all, but this is still the best in its category, and at a very reasonable price. My only regret is not having picked up my 1st Gen Shield9 for the $225 low price I found them for when the $75 rebate was going on. The best option for new buyers, but I won't be trading my 1st Gen any time soon. Straight, wide, slide serrations would make this even better, and you might as well get rid of the serrations on the front, because they don't serve any useful purpose, other than marketing.

    Are they doing away with the 1.0? Are the 1.0’s being sold now just old stock floating in the distribution system?
    Great video as always. Need more videos from James and less from Andrew

      S&W told me that there are no plans to do away with the 1.0 yet, but I bet they will eventually. Just a hunch.
