I recently purchased the Shield plus and i love it. The upgraded flat face trigger is really great. I paid 399.00 on sale at academy. Hard to beat at that price. Great carry gun!!

Been carrying the OG shield since it first launched nearly 12 years ago amazing gun 3000 rounds in 5 snags or jams and 1 stove pipe. It’s truly reliable and carry the 8 round magazine and a 10 round as a back up. Also carry Diamondback DB9 as a back up. Have since 2016. About 2000 rounds through it and about 10 snags. Not bad at all for 2 330 and 300 dollar guns. Good ankle carry gun the DB9 is or the smallest 9mm pocket carry gun available still to date. Amazing video buddy.

The shield plus is pretty awesome! And even better in the 30 Super Carry- 16 rounds in the extended magazine and 13 rounds in the flush magazine

Great video I've got the original shield and my only hesitation to get the plus is I really don't like straight triggers like that
Thats the first time I’ve ever heard that! I agree the curve trigger was not a bad trigger at all but the break on this new trigger is super crisp. They knocked it out of the park with this new trigger
I put an apex trigger with a better spring to lighten the pull. It is so smooth with a very tactile and audible reset. Just an option.

3:58 on the reset, you hear 2 clicks. I hated this about the trigger. I just bought another shield plus OR bug out kit and it seems they fixed that
Yeah it’s like a false reset or something. This was one of the fresh batch of shield plus’s I’m sure. I bought it as soon as it hit my local gun store. My friend also has one he bought about a month ago and his doesn’t do that

A houge slip on grip makes a world of difference on the 1.0 shield. The 2.0 shield benefits with a more aggressive grip however you can also put a houge grip on it if you find the stippling to be aggressive. The houge grip also helps with any felt recoil and gives the user slight finger grips. The plus is sweet however l wouldn't pass on a good deal on any series shield. They are reliable.
The 1.0 I gave to my girlfriend and I put a gouge grip on it for her and she loved it. It does make a huge difference
I have a 1.0 and put a hogue grip on it. That's the only thing I have addad. I considered trading for a larger capacity EDC but I'm ok with the 8+1 capacity. It's my favorite gun.

the 2.0 is essentially just the 1.0 with the new grip texture. you can just stipple the original or put skateboard tape on it and have the same thing
Pretty much lol they did make the trigger feel much better as well. Everything else is the same

@@wallstreettrader1 that’s funny because I never had a problem with the 1.0 trigger ad I have large hands and long fingers.
I think they made it a little lighter and it has a better reset. The original did not have a bad trigger in my opinion but they did do a better job with the 2.0
I have the M&P Shield Plus and my trigger is a smooth 4.5lb pull... I love it.. fits my body perfectly.. Half a pinky with the flat fitted mag.. full grip on the extended mag... Over all.. I love it.
I too had all these models including the EZ. Sold the 2.0 and the Plus. Kept the 1.0 and EZ. But now I’m really wanting the Plus Optics Ready.
I’m hoping to get that one soon too!

Sold the 1.0 and got another 2.0 with green integrated laser, and got another Plus!
Really hoping for a Plus with integrated laser sometime. I feel that would be the best one to get!

I have a Tulster IWB for the Plus but really prefer the Barsony IWB. Fits a few other guns also. Not the easiest to get out due to the grippy texture on the 2.0 and Plus but it sits deeper in waistband than anything else I’ve tried.
Anyone use the flush mag plate and a pocket kydex?
Really debating on making one of these a pocket carry
I would love if S&W came out with a "shield plus x or shield plus xl" a frame where the 13 rounders fit flush and the 4 inch barrel slide assembly from their performance center model.
That would be awesome for sure. The 4 inch performance center shield plus with the 15 round magazine looks pretty sick tho

I’m surprised they didn’t seeing as they offer the original shield in 9/40 the M&P Compact and Full Size in 9/40! Can’t go wrong with that shield 40

If I ran "Big Blue" I'd offer a new ported PC Shield series with steel night sights, 3 dot. 4" barrel or 3.6" in .45acp, 10mm. A ccw size M&P 10mm with a ported barrel would sell 💰💰💰. I'm not a fan of fiber optic sights. The 2.0 can have a CORE type optic plate.

I have a 9mm Shield. Trigger upgraded and a 3 5/8 inch Threaded Barrel upgrade. Also have a 9mm Shield Plus with a 3 5/8 inch Threaded Barrel. Both just over 3 1/2 inches. I also have a SD9VE with Upgrades. No need for the New SD9 2.0. In October I bought a M&P 40cal a police trade in for around $272.00. My very first 40cal to own and to shoot. All no Malfunctions. Loving them all. But I really like the power of the 40cal. I can shoot and handle it very well. I am a S&W fan
I haven’t gotten my 40cal yet but hopefully soon!
I have the original shield. It's a great firearm. Although I would sure like to upgrade to the Plus. Probably won't ever happen though.

I do have a video I posted not to long ago comparing the M&P compact and the shield plus 👍🏼 Yes my local gun store seems to have thing with guns with manual safety’s on them. Not intentional it’s just what they have in stock. I actually never use the safety and it doesn’t bother me that it’s there. Pro Tip: guns that have manual safety’s are actually a bit cheaper than the ones without so that’s a plus.

This is true! I’ve actually swapped them and fired them to make sure it works. All the internals are the exact same. Only thing that changed on the plus was the width of the grip on the frame 👍🏼
Thank you! That was super quick! I tried looking up some slides for the plus, yet only one was marked “plus” on the slide. Most were 1.0 slides being passed off as the plus model. I’ll keep looking.

Nice. Like all 3. & the price is nice. Like the way they blend in lasers and keep it small.bodyguard too . Been looking at some LE trade ins. 3 & 4 digit hammer guns around 3-4 (kinda thinking about paying some more for a all SS 45 )always been into their revolvers & keep coming around to these. Subcompact 2.0 is a little bit chunky for my tastes with little guns. Haven’t shot one yet but liked the feel of the plain shield plus a girl was showing me. & again,nice gun ,capacity & price.flush fit with the right + 0 Extention is what I’m thinking. Laser is optional depending on price. Not against the original or 2.0 either. Always looking for the bargain. Carry a stock sig 365xl with + 0 mag extension last 2 years. Not getting rid of it or anything.just like S&W.(most of them anyway)good video. Like & sub.

Great video brotha! I live in Cali and I bought the original shield last year because it was the only model available, now the shield plus is available for us in Cali. Should I upgrade and sell my original or just upgrade and keep the original? What’s the point in having both? Since you’re in the same boat as me.
I just don’t like to sell my guns to be honest. I like to keep them and revisit them every now and then. I would say keep it. That way you can have one with you in your house and keep one in a room tucked away because you never know when you might need one in another part of your home. Whatever you decide I think upgrading to the plus is a good choice because of the capacity
@@northernlightstv23I don't think the "lower" capacity weapons will bring a good price on the used market. ( I have 2 unfired 6rd 45s, so I'm in that boat) mag guts has plus 1,2,3 springs for different different brands of guns. I also don't want to sell older "friends".

I’ve had em all but still carry my Shield Plus. It may seem odd but I preferred the 2.0 out of all of them, I also shoot a 9mm and .40 2.0 compact so maybe the familiarity with those (hinged trigger and more aggressive grip) explains why I prefer the 2.0 Shield? I don’t know but it’s hard to beat the capacity of the Plus.
The hinged trigger never bothered me at all. A lot of people here on RUclips will tell you it’s a horrible trigger but it was actually a really good trigger in my opinion. & I’m with you on the grip texture. The more aggressive the better
Excellent comparison video. I have the original shield and I've considered buying the plus, but I'm hesitant because I've had the original so long and I shoot it really well. I have a full size M&P 2.0 9mm as well. I wonder if the grip width would be about the same?

I like them all to be honest. The hellcat and p365 are snappier in my opinion . I think the shield plus has better ergonomics, better grip texture and shoots better than the other 2. I would still recommend any of them it’s just all about what you like. If you want the smallest to conceal better I’d say go with the 365 & if a thicker grip is what you’re looking for then go with the hellcat. Can’t go wrong with any of the 3 to be honest

I bought the original because that’s all I could get in Cali. Now the Plus is available. Wondering since Cali only allows ten round mags will they both be the same size.? Will they be the size of the 7 or 8 round original?
Should both be the same 10 round magazines. Which is the flush fit magazine the same length of the 7 round original just wider

I have the original Shield and its a solid carry gun. I think I bought it on sale for like $250 back in the day! As much as I would like to upgrade in capacity for the Shield Plus, I can’t justify buying it when the Shield does the job well
The upgraded capacity and trigger did it for me. Not to mention now there is a 15 round magazine for this pistol. I did a lot of research and decided to upgrade. If you do decide to upgrade at any point I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I purchased the shield m2.0 8rds I want to sell it to buy the shield plus 13rds but 8rd model cost more than the 13rds on bass pro!! What should I do keep the one that cost more or get the one that I want anyways which is the 13 rds model
You won’t get much for the 8 round model on the used market unfortunately. I would say just keep the 8rd model and buy the shield plus as well. Or some gun shops will allow you to trade it in for a gun you want. You’ll have to add some cash on top of your trade in but at least it’ll be a bit cheaper with a trade in

Yes the only thing that changed was the width on the grip. The slides are interchangeable

i got mine for a absoulte steal, i live on a airforce base and the BX had a shield plus law enforcement edition optic ready for $405 and S&W is offering a $50 rebate so reallly $355 no tax

I can't use the slide stop to release the slide on my Shield 1.0. Tooooo stiff. IDK if that's normal for this model. I saw a review on the 2.0 and the review did release the slide on a new magazine w/ the slide stop. I usu. slingshot, but like the option to use the slide stop to release the slide for a new mag. I'm wanting to know what I can do about trying to remedy this. Any insight? ty
Mine was the exact same at first! How many rounds have you put through it? Mine broke in after about 250 rounds. Not I’m able to use it as a slide release
I’m seriously considering the shield for my first gun. It’s either that or the P365. I’m just wondering if the performance center shield would be worth the extra money or if the standard shield plus is good? Can Sony help me with this question?
If you prefer a 4 inch barrel over the 3.1 I would say go for the performance center. If the barrel length doesn’t matter then go for the standard shield plus. I went with the standard and I love it. You can also get the standard shield plus with an optic ready slide so if I were you I would get that one .

Both are great pistols! If you have the opportunity to pick it up I definitely would! I think s&w is currently doing a $100 rebate on the plus so you’ll get it for around $400 after the rebate which is a steal!! Hasn’t let me down. Posting a one year review this Friday as well.
It the 13 round mag hard to put in
It is before you go and shoot it. Once you get a couple of mags through it loosens up. After I shot it for the first time at the range the spring loosened up
The plus is definitely the best, I've had all 3 and thank god smith changed that horrible hinge trigger.
I never thought it was a bad trigger but I’m also glad they updated it.
@northernlightstv23 . Yeah, my 9mm sd wasn't to bad but the 40 I had the trigger hinge pin would come out. I couldn't get through a full mag without it coming out.
Do you happen to know if you can swap the triggers of the shield plus into the original shield?
It’s the same trigger mechanism but I haven’t heard of anyone doing a trigger swap. Might be a good experiment lol

The original mags will for the Shield 9 m2.0 but they will not fit the Shield Plus. Check the video I show the comparability between the 3

I toted a older, Shield 9mm 1.0 in 2014. It was the "no thumb safety" design, no mag safety. I used a simple Blackhawk holster. It was polymer like the SERPA but didn't have the holster safety design. It was a level 1 style holster. Fit different length belts. Easy to ccw.

It looks like you can't get the Shield Plus with the same Crimson Trace as the Shield 2.0, which is too bad. I'd upgrade from my 2.0 if it had that.
No unfortunately they don’t sell the plus with the CT laser. It’s a shame

Yea it’s the exact same slide 👍🏼 nothing changed but the grip size on the frame to allow more capacity

I’m my opinion smith is years ahead of Glock. We been getting the same Glock since the 80s man. I bought my first Glock not too long ago. I like it but I still prefer my M&P

@@professored7169 I feel you. They missed a chance with that 43x they definitely could’ve put 15 rounds in that firearm. You can still get that with aftermarket mags but it should’ve had it out of the factory. The only reason I haven’t bought the 43x is because I don’t want to spend extra money on after market mags. & I don’t want to chance getting some unreliable aftermarket mags either

My s&w revolver broke after 26 shots. I don't trust their quality anymore.
I don’t know anything about their revolvers but their semi automatic pistols are the truth
@@real_mikkim Yes mine does. They replaced cylinder, yoke, barrel and hammer. Took 75-80 rounds break in. It is fun to shoot. Having options is a plus. Customer service was less than expected. You are paying top dollar.
