My grandpa had one of these when I was growing up. We have a big family so he bought a Gamecube with a bunch of games for the grandkids to enjoy, and he just somehow managed to find one of these at Gamestop. I asked to borrow it when I was a kid, which he let me do, but ended up keep it for probably 8 years. I returned it to him, then asked him about a year later if I could borrow it again. I mentioned how much I loved it and appreciated how he'd let me use it for so long, and he mentioned that I should just keep it as a birthday present. It's hanging up on my shelf now, complete in copy. Miss you grandpa ❤.
Wow that’s such an amazing story!! Super touching, thanks for sharing that ❤️ my grandpa and I had a lot of fun gaming memories together too, it’s always heartwarming to reflect on. Thanks for watching!!
2:14 At this point, I would point out why this compilation was created. Prior to the release of Wind Waker on the Gamecube, there were already 9 Zelda games in the series, making Wind Waker the 10th in release order. (I don't remember if the timeline existed at this time). Someone with a GBA or a Gameboy Player could play 5 of those 9 games; Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Four Swords, & Link to the Past. The first Zelda game was later released on the GBA, but at the time that this compilation disc was released, that didn't exist yet. All the Zelda games that weren't available to play on a Gamecube or GBA were the 2 from the NES, & the 2 from the N64. With the release of the Collector's Edition of Zelda on the Gamecube, Nintendo made it possible for owners of the Gamecube & GBA to play EVERY Zelda game in the series without having to plug in an old console. This wasn't the first time they had done this either. Super Mario All-Stars (released in 1993) did the same thing for SNES owners & the Mario series.
@tomrees82 Great point. I tend to think the same thinking was involved as with Allstars. Keep the older games in circulation so people didn't need to dip into old hardware to play them. The Gameboy player was one of the best add-ons ever made, too. Being able to play Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance games on the TV made it one of the essential peripherals for the Gamecube. Combine all those consoles, and the library of games you could play on the Gamecube was HUGE. I can't imagine having the console without the GB Player attachment.
I wish GameCube Nintendo did the same thing for Super Mario, like add Super Mario Bros 12&3, World, and Mario 64 on one disc?! That would've been so cool!
I was a blueshirt at Best Buy when this was available. It was intended for being bundled only, not for sale, but the store had them on the shelf for $99. Same price as the Cube bundle. One kid bought one of these discs. I tried to convince him to buy the bundle for the same price. He just wanted the disc. For $99. LOL ok, kid. I got my copy by subscribing to NP.
Ww is poopy. I have to say the lore was good but I really disliked the art style and combat. But i guess it did influence skyward sword in a way; so good i guess. But I’m still salty.
Ay this was what introduced me to Zelda as a kid, and started my lifelong love of the series. I can't even estimate the amount of hours I poured into it lol. Thanks for the video !🖤
Ha! That's so cool! Yeah I LOVED this as a kid, it wasn't my intro but it was the first time I can remember thinking "wow I'd really love to have that as a part of my game collection". Appreciate the kind words!
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac I have it too (the players guide, not the Canadian release). The gray on the cover is reflective. It's kinda cool. Supposedly, there was a poster that came with it. I don't seem to have that. :(
I still have my copy of this disc, and the two-game bonus disc that has Master Quest. First time I got to play Master Quest was really satisfying for me considering how much I loved OoT. Cool video!
Yooooo that's actually one of the next games in my queue to make a video about! It's literally sitting on my desk in wait!! Thanks for the kind words :)
Still have my original copy of The Wind Waker, the pre-order bonus disc, and the bonus disc from subscribing to Nintendo Power back in the day. Good times.
1:33 this is how I grew up with the Legend of Zelda and originally played OoT and MM. My aunt had gotten it for my cousin but he wasn’t interested in it, so it was given to me.
In the UK, the only way to get the this disc at first was to buy the GameCube Mario Kart Double Dash bundle. I already had a GameCube, but I wanted Mario Kart, I wanted an extra controller and I really wanted that Zelda disc. So I bought the bundle. I was working in a game shop at the time, so along with my staff discount it wasn’t much more expensive than just buying Mario Kart Double Dash and an extra controller anyway. Later on, Nintendo ran a promotion where you would get a copy of the Collectors Edition if you bought two players choice games. That meant the shop I was working in had a huge stack of Collectors Editions for this promotion which weren’t on stock. So I helped myself to 4 copies of it, lol. I kept 3 copies sealed for many years. I ended up giving them to a friend to sell as she was raising money for charity. I’ve still got the one that came with the Mario Kart bundle and one of the stand alone copies.
My sister and I are so very grateful to have this as we're on tight budget with life ongoing things as we're trying our best as we're done with gift cards which did happen to us eventually as we're fine going to most retro gaming stores around us to see what's there or not as most games are hard to find get! Just wish Majora's Mask never had any problems on Zelda Collectors Edition!
Still have my original copy, I think I got it from the Wind Waker pre-order I think the 3 Wind Waker sections are Outset Island, Forsaken Fortress and Dragon Roost Cavern but it would end when you entered Gohma's room even if the time wasn't up yet, same with the Forsaken Fortress top room
I had this game. I got it by chance because someone who had pre ordered the game andnever came to pick it up about 2/3 months after it came out. I was at my local game stop and there was only one person working, the person before me bought the last available copy... outfront. I asked the clerk if there was any other copies in the store and he said "honestly... theres one." I said something along the lines of, theres no way I will ever have this, and honestly... I almost believed myself... so much that he gave me this version. I ended up selling it with my whole retro game collection... it took second place for greatest amount gained.
So I've owned about a dozen copies of this game collection personally since 2003 (yes, many copies). The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition was distributed differently across the world - but the version you have is the North America (specifically US) Version. These were EXCLUSIVE in the states to K-Mart and Big K stores. In Canada, a French English version was made available thru other means. Sometimes you might see this version out in the wild, and the font on the back is spaced slightly different, as well as the manual is different. The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition was a free Bonus Disc that came (sealed) as a free surprise gift when you picked up Wind Waker. They were limited only pre-order numbers per store - meaning, if you took too long to pick your game up, you might not get one. And anyone who did NOT pre-ordered the game (meaning they where a normal day one Wind Waker purchaser) would not have received one. What happened was. Upon it's reveal, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker recieved a immense amount of backlash from fans and press over its graphics and was controversial change from OoT and Majors Mask. Internally Shigeru Miyamoto was afraid that the game would flop - especially in the west. So they decided to soften the blow by offering incentives to get people to pre-order it. The game was set for a March 2003 release in the US, and so a few months earlier Nintendo offered promotions at K-Mart/Big K stores (as they had a relationship with that retailer) to offer a FREE copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest Two Disc Bonus Disc to anyone who would spend $5 to reserve a copy of Wind Waker. This lasted one month, and I can tell you anecdotally that as someone who pre-ordered two copies of Wind Waker (and got two copies of the Bonus Disc).... I knew ALOT of people who just dropped $5 for the Ocarina of Time Master Quest Collection, and then later canceled their pre-orders. This unfortunately wasn't a isolated incidence, so Nintendo apparently upped the anti upon learning of people doing this. If you were wise (lucky) enough to have kept your pre-order. Those few people who kept their pre-order until it's March release week (like myself), were rewarded with a BIG surprise. Besides having that cool Master Quest collection to tide you over a few months - if you came to pick up your copy of Winder Waker at participating K-mart/Big on launch day (or week in some places), you would have received the following: A plastic wrapped bundle with you name on it, which included: - The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (a varient with a shiny cover and gold disc) - And a FREE bundled copy of the Official Nintendo The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Game Guide. The FULL 'sold separately' retail Guide (bundled with the game by the store). Again, only available to Pre-ordered copies. All 'non pre-order' copies of Wind Waker that were stocked for launch, would have been a version of the game with a non-shiny cover, and would have NOT included a Guide (you would have had to buy that separately). Furthermore. Nintendo had apparently handed out to these stores a limited supply of copies of The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition! They were handed out by a designated employee (with a Wind Waker Shirt & Lanyard) separately to people who were already surprised with the Guide/Game (with variant cover) bundle. Apparently each store received only the amount of copies as Nintendo had ledger for pre-orders. So different stores got different amounts of them based on how many kept their pre-orders. Unlike the Master Quest Game, K-Mart/Big K DID NOT advertise this game bundle, and it was handed to us as a complete surprise after you picked up your game and paid. It was truly an amazing experience, and felt very validating to those of us who had put up with other fans insulting the game and our decision to buy it. The Collectors Edition games where handed out as a separate *gift* and were not wrapped up with the game and guide. Since they were handed out separately and did not have pre-orders names on them - I have heard over the years of unfortunate cases where people did not get the Collectors Edition, and infact what happened was their local store's employees pocketed the copies for themselves (no, Gamestop did not invent that, lol). Ofcourse at the time, how would anyone coming to pick their game up know they were being cheated out of ANOTHER free collection disc? But all US versions you see (including yours) was a copy that some lucky kid/teen/adult got for free at a K-mart/Big K in 2003 during one of the coolest launch weeks ever. There was a Collector's Edition Strategy Guide (which I also owned) that Nintendo released much later (also rare). But I am not sure why they did that, given the Collection was never sold separately in the US. The CE guide was also only available (or was supposed to be ONLY available) thru order off Nintendo Powers Backlog Service. Suffice to say though, as someone whose owned about a dozen copies... it isn't rare in the least (the US and Canadian versions, anyway). But it is a killer piece of Wind Wakers History, and imo the best way to play OoT and Majora's Mask. It's not rare, but it IS still uncommon naturally. Then again, the amount of copies of it that exist coincides with copies of Wind Waker with the Shiny Cover and Gold Disc - and we still see plenty of those in the wild.
Bro, as someone who also preordered at a K-Mart and also owns the North American Collector's Edition disc, it was NEVER exclusive to K-Mart. I got mine through Nintendo Power as Retro9000 said in the video. Other people got theirs inside a GameCube bundle from places like Wal-Mart. This is known information confirmed by multiple people across the internet. Maybe you're thinking of a different game being exclusive but it was definitely not this 4-game collection.
@@SolKnightt BOTH of my US copies came from a Nintendo Power (re)subscription. And the other Gamecube bonuse disc (ocarina and master quest) I got from Best Buy for preordering one of the GC Zelda games.
I've had this since 2003 and I never realized the typical GameCube banner at the top of the box is just missing. Had to look at my copy to confirm lmao
I just so happened to find this at a gamestop like 15 years ago. I didn't know it was a bit of a rare find until years later. I'm glad I got it when I did, I was just getting into the zelda series at the time but didn't have an n64. But with this, I finally got to play ocarina of time and majoras mask, which are still some of my favorites
I had this and Master Quest on Gamecube. Rented them both from a video rental store and then we moved to a different city so we ended up keeping them. I have no idea where they are now.
I remember when I was in middle school, I had to stay in the rec center after school every day until my mom comes to pick me up. The kids got a GameCube with this collection. The only games they played were the Wind Waker demo and Majora’s Mask. They had no memory card, so they kept playing the first part of the latter game. Every time when they got to the part where they see the great fairy, they kept making immature comments about her pointy unmentionables.
Cool to hear your thoughts on this one. Got this one as a Christmas gift a few years back. Really awesome little collection of Zelda. Like all GameCube games though it’s began to climb in pricing but for what you get on one disc I think it could merit the current price.
I acquired my copy of the Collector's Edition by buying a Platinum Gamecube at Toys 'R' Us. I thought, at first, I got it by pre-ordering the Wind Waker, but I was mistaken - I got a DKC 3 player's guide for that. I loaned the Collector's Edition to my friend 2 years ago, and he somehow managed to get my manual all wet, so now my pages are wrinkled... He was 38 at the time, so explain that to me. Anyway, I love this Collector's Edition, though the Majora's Mask game is a bit buggy.
I remember this being sold as a bundle together with another game at the time, not sure which one it was but I am pretty sure it might have been the Wave Race game for Gamecube that this came along with on the sale.
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac Might of been only in my country. Same with the Ocarina of Time and Master Quest for Gamecube, in other countries I know they were part of some pre-order campaign, but in my country they just came bundled together with every version of Wind Waker.
I got my copy several years back from a used game store, at the time the price of $100 was a steal at the time considered how much copies go for on eBay now.
I think it's really cool that, until Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii, and maybe excepting the DS exclusives, you could actually play every Zelda game on Gamecube (of course, skipping the CDi games). This disc game you Zelda 1 and 2, Ocarina and Majora, the Wind Waker bonus disc gave you Ocarina Master Quest, the Game Boy and GBA titles on Gamecube Game Boy Player, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Four Swords Adventures. I think that's the whole library up to that point.
yo the covid inflation is REAL! I have some games that I was gonna grab a copy of just for funsies and I'm like oh yeah cool $800 okay 😂 Thanks for the watch and sub!!
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac on the flip side, i was really in need of cash for Christmas and sold a good portion of my retro collection easily 5 times what I paid for, and to the same stores I bought them from.
Right?? Although I will say - I've gone back and checked since making this and the prices seem significantly lower here now lol. I almost wonder if I saw a few fluke prices when looking it up
By buddy in hs had a copy. Believe it or not Gamestop had one on the shelf back in like 03. But it was still like 70 bucks. It was never not coveted. Same w master quest for the gc
I had a friend that bought a Gamecube and sold me this game for $20, so it's interesting to find out it's considered rare. Good thing I've always been a hoarder when it comes to my game stuff.
I loved you going through the booklet. I always read through those things for the Nintendo DS - which I grew up with. And then when the 3DS didn’t have these full booklets anymore, I was kinda dissapointed. The Switch doesn’t have anything of a little booklet at all anymore, which is kinda sad, cause they were so fun. Typically it als had a little ad for other games, which in that time was how I got notice of a lot of great games
I like playing this version of Majora's Mask. It might not be perfect version since it has occasionally crashed on me. But I heard that it's less of a problem if you disable the rumble feature, which is what I've done.
I got this new with the nintendo club magasine in Sweden. I'm fairly sure there was alot of info in that club magasine about this whole disc if I remember correctly. I may be wrong.
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac the pack-in game for Wind Waker preorders was different. It had OoT together with the Master Quest version. I have both and had to think for a sec to remember that, so it's easy to get them confused.
I mean there are definitely rarer games, but especially for the time it came out it was like a gem to get! And good mint copies are going for quite a bit on eBay
This game was almost the reason why I bought a gamecube back when they were running that 99$ special. Thats how a bunch of my friends got it. I ended up with a PS2 because my cousin had a gamecube so it felt like repetition.
There was a standalone box version of this? I have the exact same collector's edition from my childhood days, but it was included in my box of Mario Kart Double Dash. It was an ordinary copy of Mario Kart, but there was a sticker on the front that said "Includes the Zelda Collector's Edition", which in hindsight was a pretty wild detailed that could easily be overlooked.
Totally valid!! I'm still kinda figuring out my formula for these videos, I'd love to incorporate that into future videos! Appreciate the comment and the watch :)
I won a copy in a contest on the Nintendo website. The contest was a joke, it was screenshots from different Zelda games, and you just had to name them. They picked 5 winners, and somehow, with my luck, I won. Took forever to arrive in my mailbox. I still have it, but there's a crack at the top of the cover, if I remember correctly. Too bad, since the cover we got here (Europe) was silver. Anyway, when Wind Waker released here, the limited-edition version of the game was the only copy I saw in stores for over a year. Maybe even two. I always thought that was pretty funny.
My copy crashes constantly while playing Majora's Mask unfortunately. The lesson I learned from this was always hold on to your old consoles and the original versions of all these games. I would give anything to have an original Twilight Princess for the Gamecube but they're 200$ USD minimum on Amazon. This game fetches quite a high price if I'm not mistaken.
Not as high as I originally thought in this video! NIB goes for about $200-400 depending on condition, but it seems like it is running around $50-100 on average!
I only ever found one copy of Twilight Princess for the GameCube when I was around 15, at a local Walmart. I grabbed it instantly and still have it, complete in box. Never saw another copy.
@@SporeWolf28 I bought one for 20 bucks in 2009 or so and got rid of it because I got the HD one for the wiiu. They aren't that much different but different enough for me to want a gamecube version. I dont think I will ever be able to afford one though. All gamecube games and even the gamecube are ridiculously expensive nowadays.
Tip for anyone who has this disc and is going to play Majoras Mask: disable Rumble controls. This eliminates the audio and crash bugs in this version. I played the entire game this way and didn't have any problems.
These kind of promo items seem to be better in the UK than the US (such as Chu Chu rocket on the Dreamcast was free over here). I got the PAL version just by buying F Zero Gx (I can’t remember I got it at point of purchase).
I got this used at EB Games back in the day for 55 bucks. I still have those annoying stickers on it (well... they're on another Gamecube game, I swapped the boxes). I have the strat guide too. I don't have the insert that says "Subscribe to receive the guide". I got rid of inserts in most GC games besides the manuals. I was always disappointed that Link to the Past isn't on it. But they re-released LttP on the GBA at the time, so I understand, but it still makes me salty. I made the mistake of trading in the OoT Master Quest combo because "I already have OoT on the Gamecube, why do I need another copy?"
The first home console I bought myself was a gamecube that came with this disc. I remember beating all 4 games multiple times, then being shocked when I took it to GameStop for trade in and managed to get $40 credit for it. I still regret trading it in on my copy of Dead to Rights 😩
It came with the Gamecube I bought. I haven't played it in who knows how long and it's not for sale. I did play Zelda on the GBA more recently (less than ten years ago). Still better than most of the stuff released in those six or seven years.
Lots of them back in the day. Its not a limited edition. Not promotion. It was a saletrick to add it on the box. Its just a collection of Zelda for gc and i got a copy for $10
I remember getting my copy of this in 2003 with that month’s issue of Nintendo Power. With Windwaker coming out in the US March of 03, my guess is this included the 20 minute demo to expose more people to the game as it was not exactly greeted with open arms due to its art style at the time.
Right?? I always found that odd, I LOVED windwaker’s style when it came out! But I remember other kids hating on it. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
It’s def more rare in the sense of “not for resale” back in a time when eBay was more in its infancy, it was super hard to get something like this if you missed the boat. Now it’s def easier but still a super fun find! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
I had this in 2006. I ended up trading it in for the Ocarina of Time / Master Quest bundle for GC. Normally I regret getting rid of anything but I had plenty of opportunities to rebuy this and didn't because the Majora's Mask version included in this is not good, and lacking Master Quest was a huge miss.
So true. Yeah it was pretty damn buggy, it was a weird time for emulation lol. The master quest bundle is on my list for a future video, I friggin loved that
This disk came out to try and sell more copies of widwaker which was a flop at release. Glad they did this because between this and the GBA player the Gamecube was the ultimate Zelda console.
@@zparklebugz424 You are thinking of OoT Master Quest. That came as a preorder bonus to Wind Waker. People usually confuse that with The Collector's Edition. Its okay. Easy mistake to make!
It wasn't distributed thru gamestop. In the US it was a exclusive Launch-Day Gift at K-mart/Big K (and only for those picking up Preorder versions). Nintendo had a partnership with them at the time, and it given out as a surprise on launch day/week to people who held their pre-order. If you Pre-ordered Wind Waker ($5 deposit), you received a copy of Zelda Master Quest Two Game Bundle. If you held that preorder until March, upon picking up your copy of Wind Waker - you would have received two unannounced gifts. A special variant of Wind Waker (shiny cover/gold disc) bundles (in plastic) with the Official Game Guide. Free or charge. And upon paying, all pre-orders where handed (by a employee with a Wind Waker Shirt and Lanyard) a sealed copy of Collectors Edition. This was the only way to get it in the US, as a French/English version was distributed in Canada in a slightly different way. Europe/japan had their own versions. I remember that period very well, and was one of the people who was there that pre-ordered two copies in January of 2003, and got all the freebies, and was their on launch day when we got our free guide, game variant and the Collectors Edition. It was a amazing day, and utter surprise to all of us. I've owned about a dozen copies over the years of this collection (I'm a collector), and if it's the US version - then it originated at a K-Mart of Big K. Maybe she got it second hand, or picked her copy up and gave it to you later. But you only got that game here (in the US), if you where smart enough to ignore all the hate from fans and the press - and HOLD ON to that Wind Waker pre-order until launch day. Instead of pre-ordeing for the Master Quest Disc a few months earlier, and then canceling after you got it early... like most people apparently did. People forget just how hated Wind Waker was before it release. All of these things where to promote it in the west, where Shigeru Miyamoto worried it would fail worse (thanks in part to the graphics). K-Mart/Big K was chosen, because they wanted a small roll out, and that retail chain had been a Nintendo Partner. Nintendo did not want to do the promotion at other stores in the US, for whatever reason (most likely financial). If she pre-ordered Wind Waker months in advance, and then gave you the best gift from the promotion... then: 1.) She must have been a really smart (lucky girl). 2.) She must have REALLY liked you (lucky you).

Naw bought it as some places resold. I would check about Nintendo Power to see if the deal was true. Not rare imo, just many getting into the market that weren't there before.
Totally fair, it’s so wild to look at stuff from this era, it was like juuuuust when the internet was getting broader and you couldn’t really verify much. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Still very happy I never parted with this thing, a little sad about trading in the master quest disc though. Just fyi, that "not for resale" tag meant nothing to us at Gamestop, where I purchased mine. ;) (also the guide) Also, the "controversy" about WW's graphics were really only before release, at least with people I talked to. Once the game was actually in your hands, you realized how great it was and quickly got over the cel shading. The problem was more about cel shading become a gimmick in a few games at the time, I think people were just getting over the look. One strange note is that the expansion pack of the 64 (required to play MM, and sold separately of course) actually made the graphics on 64 look better than the GC remake, probably on the Switch too, but I haven't played that version yet. I'm just not sure why they didn't make it gold like the WW disc.
Dang, you really had me excited that I might have owned something really rare lol. There are a lot of these on eBay going for under $100 used ("Buy It Now"). And brand new ones are definitely under $300. :( Still though I'm glad I'm the only owner of my copy. Got it via Nintendo Power since I already owned a GameCube back then.
It could be a PAL exclusive I think. You get MKDD with the Zelda disc and booklet. There is a white sticker on the box that says it includeds the Zelda Collector's edition @@HeyWhoInvitedZac
Got this game for free from Nintendo Power. I was excited because it would be my first time getting to play Majora's Mask. This version of Majora's Mask is the worst by far, but I still had a ton of fun playing it.
Hey, I own this! I don’t even remember how I came across this little gem, I just remember I got this towards the end of the Gamecube era. This is specially rare, because I am not from the US, and I don’t know how it got to where I live in Latin America.
I got this for Christmas, my brother got it from the Nintendo UK points reward shop. I could've gotten it myself, but I knew he needed to get me something, so I saved my points :) I think I got Metroid Zero Mission with them eventually... maybe, I forget now haha.
That’s so cool!! I can’t remember if it was UK or Australia, but for the points rewards I vaguely remember reading that there were only like 1000 copies 😳
I always found it weird that they didn't include A Link To The Past on it. SNES ROMs are tiny compared to N64 & the GameCube would've been powerful enough.
Yo I had this EXACT thought when I was making this video! I wonder if it was just because they were (probably) working on a link between worlds so they wanted to maybe create artificial scarcity around it?
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac The Gamecube collector's edition came out in 2003. A Link Between Worlds came out in 2013. I mean the DS wasn't even out yet, much less the 3DS. It's plausible the GBA Link to the Past Four Swords game was the reason but I always figured the Four Swords part of that game was the real draw.
@@guillermos8447 well okay my sister and I will see try later to see if it works okay and all, as we just would hate to trade sell this for anything less or so! But we do have a N64 with most games that are all authentic that my sister and I are happy to have and stuck with!
Oh snap! Thats way cheaper than when I checked, I was seeing a bunch of completed auctions for like $200-400! Yeah I guess it’s not wildly rare, but I still love my lil collection. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!

This made me tear up, mine holds a dear place in my heart too
😢
I remember scoring this at Walmart back around Christmas 2003. It came with the Gamecube for $79.44. A total steal.
yo that's a WILD deal honestly lol
My dad got the same deal haha it was my first game at 5 years old in 2003
I got that deal too! Albeit, I scored it on black Friday.
Same.
@@Emanouche Same deal I got. I still have it. Black Gamecube.

At this point, I would point out why this compilation was created.
Heck yeah, thanks for sharing!! I love learning more about this time period of gaming...it's def my favorite. Thanks for watching!!
I had to get a retro NES/Super Nintendo system for Legend Of Zelda: Link To The Past.
Lololol that’s amazing 😂
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac True story! I wonder what Nintendo would have thought about selling one outright.
100% they’d send some kind of undercover spy to wreak havoc
I got mine with the black GameCube bundle.
That’s sick! I’m hoping to do an unboxing of a GameCube soon
This was my first ever game. It came with the GameCube my dad bought my sister and I for Christmas when I was about 5 years old
No way!! This would be an all timer first game lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Funny how, given the reception back then, many regard Windwaker as one of the best Zeldas these days.
That’s what I’m sayin!!
we grew up. That's why we love WW
Ww is poopy. I have to say the lore was good but I really disliked the art style and combat. But i guess it did influence skyward sword in a way; so good i guess. But I’m still salty.
Stranger than fiction. I remember the hate Wind Waker got.
Appreciate the kind words!
me too!! THis and ALTTP on GBA got me into the franchise at age 12
Canadian box back is different it have the original logo of the name game instead of the screenshot !!! I also own the super rare players guide !!!
Oh seriously?? I'd love to see that!!
I have this in addition to the Ocarina Of Time Master Quest disc.
I flippin LOVED the master quest disc!! So fun
Still have my original copy of The Wind Waker, the pre-order bonus disc, and the bonus disc from subscribing to Nintendo Power back in the day. Good times.
Simpler times, my friend. Simpler times. Thanks for watching and commenting!
1:33 this is how I grew up with the Legend of Zelda and originally played OoT and MM. My aunt had gotten it for my cousin but he wasn’t interested in it, so it was given to me.
Helluva gift
I still have one of these. It came with my black GameCube that I got for Christmas one year
I’m trying to get my hands on a CIB GameCube for this very reason
Same here. Then when I got my first Wii (which was Gamecube compatible) I sold my GC to Gamestop, but I kept the Zelda promo disc. I still have it.
You're telling me!! I just found a copy of MM and OOT at my local retro store and I want it so badly lol
I got this at GameStop for I think $10 around 18-19 years ago.
Ah shit....are we old?
You: "Currently opened it goes for $200"
Me: *looks at my copy, looks at my empty pantry, sweats*
Still have my original copy, I think I got it from the Wind Waker pre-order
I think the 3 Wind Waker sections are Outset Island, Forsaken Fortress and Dragon Roost Cavern but it would end when you entered Gohma's room even if the time wasn't up yet, same with the Forsaken Fortress top room
Hell yeahhhh that’s so sick!!!
I ended up selling it with my whole retro game collection... it took second place for greatest amount gained.
woah that's wild!!
I loved 75% of that disk.
Majora's Mask was wayyyyyyyyyy too buggy
Heard that, chef, heard that
I’m a humongous zelda fan. great find man! i’ve always wanted something like this
Ayy welcome to the club!!! I think you can find some non complete versions on eBay for not a ton of money!!! Worth a look!
Besides having that cool Master Quest collection to tide you over a few months - if you came to pick up your copy of Winder Waker at participating K-mart/Big on launch day (or week in some places), you would have received the following:
A plastic wrapped bundle with you name on it, which included:
- The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (a varient with a shiny cover and gold disc)
- And a FREE bundled copy of the Official Nintendo The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Game Guide.
Yooooo this is insane!!! Thanks for sharing that, that’s so cool!!! Appreciate you watching and commenting my friend :)
It’s odd they didn’t include it, I wonder if it’s just cuz it was a pack in that they were like hey…..obviously only for GameCube 😂
It's not as rare as I initially thought, but still remains one of my favorite gamecube games!! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Still pissed I lost this somehow somewhere along the way. My mom even got it for me as a Christmas present c. 2004 off of ebay.
Go grab another copy!! You’ve earned it!
I had this and Master Quest on Gamecube. Rented them both from a video rental store and then we moved to a different city so we ended up keeping them.
I have no idea where they are now.
Noooooo!!! Gotta track those bad boys DOWN
I got this for pre-ordering Wind Waker. Never had a Nintendo Power sub, and I didn't get this with my Gamecube either.
Weird. In Australia we got the Ocarina/Master Quest Bonus Disc for per-ordering WW
I picked this up a few years later off eBay
I still have this from a GameCube bundle ❤️
I remember when I was in middle school, I had to stay in the rec center after school every day until my mom comes to pick me up. The kids got a GameCube with this collection. The only games they played were the Wind Waker demo and Majora’s Mask. They had no memory card, so they kept playing the first part of the latter game. Every time when they got to the part where they see the great fairy, they kept making immature comments about her pointy unmentionables.
Pointy unmentionables might be the funniest shit I’ve read in a while
I got mine off ebay
Nice! I love that we're able to get retro stuff so easily now. What a time to be alive
I got six of those by doing six pre-orders for Wind Waker at Toys R' Us.
You wild animal, I'm so jealous
Oh, and funny story, I did buy it from Kmart for 1 cent (employee wasn't supposed to sell it, but that's what it rang up for) 😎
That’s wilddddd and incredible lol
Still have a sealed copy of this c:
I remember the GameCube bundle but my copy came from the Nintendo Power subscription offer.
I think that's where *shakes fist angrily* SARAH got hers too!
Cool to hear your thoughts on this one. Got this one as a Christmas gift a few years back. Really awesome little collection of Zelda. Like all GameCube games though it’s began to climb in pricing but for what you get on one disc I think it could merit the current price.
It was just so cool to see, especially in today’s age of digital copies only! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
LOL dude I actually lol'd at "he was 38 at the time so explain that to me"
I loved this video, feels like me and my buddies just hanging out and talking about retro games. Subbed
Yooo that’s exactly what I was hoping!! Thanks so much friend :)
I remember this being sold as a bundle together with another game at the time, not sure which one it was but I am pretty sure it might have been the Wave Race game for Gamecube that this came along with on the sale.
Oh seriously?? I don't recall that!! That's wild
I feel like post-pandemic game collecting prices have skyrocketed
I still have this. And I need to play it again one day
Do itttttttt (and then comment on this again and let me know how glorious it is)
And how was Majora's Mask on your Zelda Collectors Edition?
Did it have any problems frozen any?
I think it's really cool that, until Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii, and maybe excepting the DS exclusives, you could actually play every Zelda game on Gamecube (of course, skipping the CDi games). This disc game you Zelda 1 and 2, Ocarina and Majora, the Wind Waker bonus disc gave you Ocarina Master Quest, the Game Boy and GBA titles on Gamecube Game Boy Player, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Four Swords Adventures. I think that's the whole library up to that point.
That's so wild to think about, I hadn't really put it together like that. GC is truly one of the best consoles IMO
somehow got two of these in my collection, I thought they were $60 rare but that covid gc inflation really hit lol. cool vid subbed
yo the covid inflation is REAL! I have some games that I was gonna grab a copy of just for funsies and I'm like oh yeah cool $800 okay 😂 Thanks for the watch and sub!!
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac on the flip side, i was really in need of cash for Christmas and sold a good portion of my retro collection easily 5 times what I paid for, and to the same stores I bought them from.

lmao this game is only around £35-40 in the UK, its wild how expensive it is in america
Right?? Although I will say - I've gone back and checked since making this and the prices seem significantly lower here now lol. I almost wonder if I saw a few fluke prices when looking it up
I convinced my parents to renew my Nintendo Power subscription so I could get this. Man I was a spoiled kid...
Oh to be a kid in the 90's/00's again
By buddy in hs had a copy. Believe it or not Gamestop had one on the shelf back in like 03. But it was still like 70 bucks. It was never not coveted. Same w master quest for the gc
Master Quest was OP. I'm so pumped to do an episode about that
I had a friend that bought a Gamecube and sold me this game for $20, so it's interesting to find out it's considered rare. Good thing I've always been a hoarder when it comes to my game stuff.
I mean it's def not the rarest, I just think it's a cool piece of nostalgic pop culture :) Thanks for watching!
Hey thanks so much for stopping by with this vid and subscribing!! Yeah man I LOVE those old booklets, I wish they were more commonplace!
I found this at a flea market maybe 15 or 16 years ago for $10 and it was awesome. Cannot find where I put it.
I’m petitioning the universe to have it show up for you
I like playing this version of Majora's Mask. It might not be perfect version since it has occasionally crashed on me. But I heard that it's less of a problem if you disable the rumble feature, which is what I've done.
That's what I've heard too!! What a weird bug lol
I got this new with the nintendo club magasine in Sweden. I'm fairly sure there was alot of info in that club magasine about this whole disc if I remember correctly. I may be wrong.
I still have my copy from when I was a child I don't know how we got it. It's cool hearing that it's rare now
Heck yeah! I mean, it’s not the rarest, but it seems to be doing alright on eBay. It was just such a relic of the time
I’m so glad I have a copy 😮 I just got lucky!
SUCH a fun game to have a copy of!! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Mine was thrown in with windwaker collectors edition, love that I still have this in the collection 😊
Oh really?? I didn’t think about them being in with windwaker cuz of the demo, that’s so funny hahaha. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac the pack-in game for Wind Waker preorders was different. It had OoT together with the Master Quest version. I have both and had to think for a sec to remember that, so it's easy to get them confused.
I played this a ton when I was growing up. A friend of mine recently showed me he found his old copy, still factory sealed.
FACTORY SEALED??? I’m so jealous I could cry
God, this is considered retro now...I have this. I bought when my local KB Toys went out of business.
Dude I heard someone call the Wii retro and I died inside
I have this disc. I got it from a yard sale. Didn't realize how rare it was.
Glad to know it wasn't just me and my cousins that coordinated systems lol
I thought this only came if you bought it on club Nintendo so cool to see!
From the comments on this vid it seems like a ton of folks had some unique spots they got it from, pretty neato-burrito if ya ask me
There was a standalone box version of this? I have the exact same collector's edition from my childhood days, but it was included in my box of Mario Kart Double Dash. It was an ordinary copy of Mario Kart, but there was a sticker on the front that said "Includes the Zelda Collector's Edition", which in hindsight was a pretty wild detailed that could easily be overlooked.
Oh snap really?? Well, off to try and find that copy cuz I can’t stop 😂
Nice video, but no gameplay footage? A peek at the menu screens and background music would’ve been nice.
I still got this and never will let it go unless I'm offered a very good price for it
I feel that!! For me it's less about price and more about nostalgic value
Oh really?? That's awesome to know!! I'm gonna try that
These kind of promo items seem to be better in the UK than the US (such as Chu Chu rocket on the Dreamcast was free over here).
I got the PAL version just by buying F Zero Gx (I can’t remember I got it at point of purchase).
Def don’t doubt that they were better in the UK lol
I got this used at EB Games back in the day for 55 bucks. I still have those annoying stickers on it (well... they're on another Gamecube game, I swapped the boxes). I have the strat guide too. I don't have the insert that says "Subscribe to receive the guide". I got rid of inserts in most GC games besides the manuals.
I was always disappointed that Link to the Past isn't on it. But they re-released LttP on the GBA at the time, so I understand, but it still makes me salty.
I made the mistake of trading in the OoT Master Quest combo because "I already have OoT on the Gamecube, why do I need another copy?"
the MQ Combo was such a sick game. I have it - but I don't have the instruction booklet
Fun video! I subbed, looking foreward to the content👌
The first home console I bought myself was a gamecube that came with this disc. I remember beating all 4 games multiple times, then being shocked when I took it to GameStop for trade in and managed to get $40 credit for it. I still regret trading it in on my copy of Dead to Rights 😩
I wonder all the time how much literal treasure Gamestop has just sitting in a warehouse somewhere lol
I own this. It is gaming Nirvana. Don't remember how I got it. I think it came with Wind Waker.
it's so cool to see people's stories about how they got this, it seems like there were WAY more ways to obtain it than I originally thought!
It came with the Gamecube I bought. I haven't played it in who knows how long and it's not for sale. I did play Zelda on the GBA more recently (less than ten years ago). Still better than most of the stuff released in those six or seven years.
Man, I miss the GBA
I got one CIB and like new on Ebay for 80 bucks
Hell yeah dude that rocks!
@Retro9000 Thanks!
Lots of them back in the day. Its not a limited edition. Not promotion. It was a saletrick to add it on the box. Its just a collection of Zelda for gc and i got a copy for $10
Maaaan not in my area 😂
I got one of these from disc replay for about $25 like 10 years ago
Disc replay was the shiiiiiit!!! So many good finds there 🙌
I remember getting my copy of this in 2003 with that month’s issue of Nintendo Power.
I still have my old copy from when I was a kid and it came bundled with my GameCube, I had no idea that it was rare or anything.
Still wild to think that WW was a flop!!
I believe the main way to obtain a copy of that back in the day was to pre-order Wind Waker at GameStop...🤷🏼♀️
Nope! You are confused. You had to buy a Gamecube to get this.
@@Boomshockalocka007 it was only bundled with GameCube after Wind Waker had been out quite awhile... I believe you are the one confused here!🤷🏼♀️
Seems like there were a handful of ways to get this bad boy
@@zparklebugz424 You are thinking of OoT Master Quest. That came as a preorder bonus to Wind Waker. People usually confuse that with The Collector's Edition. Its okay. Easy mistake to make!
This was an awesome buy back in the day... except for the fact that Majoras Mask is bugged as $h*t. I hated how it had to randomly crash on me.
Seems like that was just everyone’s case!! So weird. Apparently turning off the rumble feature helped it
My name is Dave, and I got my copy from a girl who liked me and worked at Game Stop at the time. Lmao. I was like... HOW DID HE KNOW?!
YES!! I’m SO glad this happened hahahaha
If she pre-ordered Wind Waker months in advance, and then gave you the best gift from the promotion... then:
1.) She must have been a really smart (lucky girl).
2.) She must have REALLY liked you (lucky you).

Loved that disc,still have mine.LOL
Siccckkkkk it sounds like it needs some play-time 👀
I got this in a second hand bin in GAME (uk) for £5.00
I’m so jealous 😭😭
I got this when I pre ordered Wind Waker so I think it was originally for that :))
Hell yeah. Such a fun piece to have!
Just fyi, that "not for resale" tag meant nothing to us at Gamestop, where I purchased mine. ;) (also the guide)
Also, the "controversy" about WW's graphics were really only before release, at least with people I talked to.
Oh really?? That’s wild! I guess that makes sense tho about the graphics. Appreciate you watching and commenting!!
Ahhh my b, didn’t mean to mislead!! It was such a find back in the day and I must have gotten some bad intel. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
I have a couple of these that came bundled with Mario Kart Double Dash, nice little collection
Whaaaat I’ve never seen those ones!! Might have to do some digging 👀
It could be a PAL exclusive I think. You get MKDD with the Zelda disc and booklet. There is a white sticker on the box that says it includeds the Zelda Collector's edition @@HeyWhoInvitedZac
That’s wild. Awesome!
@@HeyWhoInvitedZacYou're welcome, great video!
Got this game for free from Nintendo Power. I was excited because it would be my first time getting to play Majora's Mask. This version of Majora's Mask is the worst by far, but I still had a ton of fun playing it.
Such a glitchy copy hahaha
Hey, I own this! I don’t even remember how I came across this little gem, I just remember I got this towards the end of the Gamecube era. This is specially rare, because I am not from the US, and I don’t know how it got to where I live in Latin America.
Oh wow yeah that’s def extra rare then!! Yeah this fell at a weird time in the GameCubes cycle I feel like
I have this on my homebrewed wii lol
*Nintendo would like to know your location*
I got this for Christmas, my brother got it from the Nintendo UK points reward shop. I could've gotten it myself, but I knew he needed to get me something, so I saved my points :) I think I got Metroid Zero Mission with them eventually... maybe, I forget now haha.
That’s so cool!! I can’t remember if it was UK or Australia, but for the points rewards I vaguely remember reading that there were only like 1000 copies 😳
@@HeyWhoInvitedZac Ooh, I hadn't realised there were so few, I still have it now, plus a lot of other Zelda things
Amazing!! I love Zelda collectibles, my all time favorite
I have this, as well.
Hell yeahhhhhh that’s awesome!! Time to dust off the GameCube
@Retro9000 unfortunately it's Dust off backwards compatible wii. Young dumb self traded gamecube for wii, since it could still play gamecube.
I think it was already on the gba by that point.
The biggest issue with this collection is trying to play Zelda 1 & 2 with the GameCube's tiny-ass D-Pad... I mean you can do it, but... no
Oof. I feel that. Bigtime.
"lookin' at you, Dave"
Me 👀
Ladies and gentlemen....we got him.
I bought mine used from GameStop back in the day 🤣
That’s it I’m calling the police, this was NOT FOR RESALE 😂😂😂
Link to the past should have been in this collection.
Hard agree
Link to the Past was on GBA with Four Swords.
And I just wish Majora's Mask on Zelda Collectors Edition never had any problems! But at least my sister and I have it proud of!
@@MarkFendy-sw7hn The glitch I know about, is the vibration... I think if you turn it off, the game doesn't have problems. But I don't know.
@@guillermos8447 well okay my sister and I will see try later to see if it works okay and all, as we just would hate to trade sell this for anything less or so! But we do have a N64 with most games that are all authentic that my sister and I are happy to have and stuck with!
I hate "Country Crock" commercials!
I actually got this on ebay actually lol. For 80 i believe
Hell yeah let’s goooo!!!
lol not really rare my guy, not even that expensive atm either. I see multiple auctions for a CIB on ebay in the $40-50 with a couple $60~ BINs.
Oh snap! Thats way cheaper than when I checked, I was seeing a bunch of completed auctions for like $200-400! Yeah I guess it’s not wildly rare, but I still love my lil collection. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!
